Ohio government snooper put on leave for plumbing Plumber’s records

Well, it sure took them long enough, didn’t it?
Via Dayton Daily News (which you’ll notice fails to mention that Jones-Kelley is a max contributor to Obama’s campaign):
Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and former head of that department in Montgomery County, has been placed on paid administrative leave by Gov. Ted Strickland.
Strickland said on Friday, Nov. 7, that he took the action “due to the possibility, as yet unconfirmed, that a state computer or state e-mail account was used to assist in political fund raising.”
“I have asked Inspector General Tom Charles to include this matter in his current, ongoing investigation,” Strickland said in a press release.
Strickland said he has asked Jan Allen, his cabinet secretary, to serve as acting director of the agency.
Charles already was investigating reports that a department computer was used to gather personal information about “Joe the Plumber” — Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher of suburban Toledo — after Wurzelbacher emerged as a key figure in the presidential race in Ohio. The information included whether he owed child support, which he said he didn’t.
You can run, lady, but you can’t hide.

The
Columbus Dispatch is on the ball, as it has been from the beginning:
Gov. Ted Strickland has placed the director of the Department of Job and Family Services on paid leave for possibly using a state computer and e-mail account for political fund raising.
The governor took the action against Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the state agency, late this afternoon.
Strickland said he asked Inspector General Thomas P. Charles to investigate the matter. He named Jan Allen, secretary of his cabinet, to serve as acting director of Job and Family Services.
The Dispatch filed a public-records request last week that requested any Jones-Kelley e-mails that mentioned Democrat Barack Obama, who won election as president on Tuesday. The newspaper was told it would receive those e-mails shortly.
Jones-Kelley contributed $2,500 this year to the Obama campaign, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Want to place any bets that nothing will happen to her?
So they waited ’till AFTER the election to do the right thing?..more still needs to be done for this inappropriate behavior.
Well it makes sense. In order to appoint her to a cabinet position to relieve her of her state job first.
ruh roh…
Thank you Columbus Dispatch
Paid leave until it all dies down then back to work. What a joke. Why do we bother following laws?
About damn time!
she should lose her job, oh what, maybe she should keep it, so Joe can sue the hell out of her and she will literally be working for the man
bwhaaaaaaaaa
So they cracked the plumbers case eh?
whoa jackson, just saw the ads you speak of.
Those emails could be very interesting if they end up pointing to a bigger, more complex conspiracy. Sometimes all it takes is a tug on a single, loose string to have something like this start to unwind at an alarming rate.
A vacation?!
PAID leave…
PAID leave…
She performed unethical acts…
WHY PAID LEAVE!!!!!

Getting started early on spreadin’ the wealth dontchya know.
The last time this was discussed, one of the posts noted that he/she had to sign a ton of non-disclosures on any information that might be seen while doing his job on the computer. Does this sweetie have to sign such a document? If so, what are the legal penalty(ies)? Is she now going to find herself under the bus? If so, she might not like the company she is now keeping. Pity.
Well, it is the government after all. If you worked for a typical corporation, you’d be fired on the spot. No severance pay, and you’d be asked to pack up that day, and escorted out of the building by a security guard.
As yet unconfirmed? Which is it? Yet unconfirmed or yet confirmed?
Huh? An investigation not for invasion of privacy, nor for an illegal investigation without a court warrant, nor unauthorized use of law enforcement assests, nor unauthorized search under color of authority, but for a “possible use of a state computer or state e-mail account!”
Fast forward one month…”The Office of Inspector General found no evidence of illegal activity by Ms. Jones-Kelley. Her actions were those of a concerned citizen trying to prevent a possible fraud by an Ohio resident. She has done an admirable job in attempting to protect Ohio taxpayers, and she should be commended for her initiative. This office will take no further action on this matter.”
Bank on it!
this is not fair at all…she must be devastated…PAID LEAVE…you have to be kidding. What a dilemma she’s in now… all that time and not enough money to fill it. GRRRRR.
That will probably be the punishment for the teacher that brow beats her students when they think for themselves and answer honestly to a question.
“Paid leave” my butt…fire ‘em both…wait their both black, that would be racist, can’t do that…oh hell, let ‘em go.
Remember, the bloggers brought her to internation attention. If we hadn’t she’d be able to hide under a rock and continue this behavior.
This is a shot over the bow to these bullies and inappropriate people.
Kudos to everyone contacting the governor, keeping the conversation going, and in the public eye. The bloggers are the ones responsible for her feeling the consequences of her actions. Even if she hides under her desk for a few months, we’re ahead of the game. She and others will be more careful of their behavior.
Good job!
Of course paid leave. Strickland is a Democrat. He’s patting her on the back for a job well done.
I hear a loud slap on the wrist coming. (with pay)
GEEESS!!!
Most likely Civil Service-Cover the Incompetents- Law. Might want to talk to the Government Employees Unions about that. Or it could be the Persons With Disabilities Act-”I am to Stupid to Read the Regulations”.
If you are following the Norm Coleman-Frankenstein count in Minnesota here is a good one:
100 previously uncounted ballots found, nice round number, all 100 for Frankenstein. Imagine that, dem Dems do stick together.
–
That everyman be armed-you too ladies.
No way the union will allow her to be disciplined for getting its Messiah elected. No way.
But now she’s just practicing what will happen when BHO is prez – she’s getting money for not working. Anybody think she won’t get used to it?
FL #13 and AN-#21–
your humor and insights brought a smile –thanks–
and-yes -everyman & woman had better be armed.
Paid leave? In my world, that’s called a “vacation.”
Throw the book at her. Hard. Real hard.
So she digs into a private citizens records illegally and … and … gets a paid vacation for doing so? Sheesh.
Smoke and mirrors. She will walk free.
No, just got leave to get out of the media’s sight until no one cares any more. That would be about, say, one week.
Maybe Obama will hire her.
Nah. She hasn’t been indicted yet. Maybe then she will be hired.
Joe – sue them into the next century, and name her personally in the lawsuit as well.
Not only will nothing happen, but she’ll enter politics and be handsomely rewarded by her local Dems (she sounds like Senate material to me!) and b. Hussein & Co.
Dont even get me started on the whole perception of single dads and the child support thing.
or that when my ex disappeared for several years without feeling the need to tell me where they were or her taking my child support payments and buying a bar and making my daughter raise [her moms] new kids while she slutted all over her new town. Now that i caught up to her, my kids dont want to live with her, I have custody and she pays ME child support. Its pretty sad when someones own kids laughs that their mom is a whore. (not my words)
no one even questions why the default question was IF Joe even had to pay child support and WHY he would be behind. That just seems normal to everyone.
Thats my rant for today and we’re hitting the ski skopes again tomorrow. (just got back)
Next, he should call in a plumber to fix all those leaks…
Secretary of the Civilian Action/Army Corps.
And soon to come: “The great state of Ohio is proud to announce its selection of citizen of the year, Ms. Jones-Kelley. We would like to wish her the best of luck as she leaves for her new job in Washington, D.C. as head of the newly created Department For The Monitoring Of Disrespectful Citizens”.
Like others who have commented – PAID leave? Oh boy, I’ll bet she learned her lesson!
I was a certified Republican poll observer in Ohio on Tuesday.
I witnessed continual violations of polling place impartiality and procedures. In essence, this polling place was a low grade Obama rally.
Nice punishment…paid administrative leave. Gee, wish my office would give me that paid leave. Got places to visit and things to do.
I hope the citizens of Ohio are enjoying their Democrat government after ridding themselves of those “Wascally Wepublicans” that were running the State 2 years ago. They are apparently so enamoured with the Dems that they desided they’d subject the whole country to that same kind of government!
So there will be no doubt as to Kipling’s meaning here, the Gods of the Market Place is the Government; a “Copybook” is the British equivalent of America’s McGuffey readers; they were used to improve penmanship, as
English children would copy the heading on each page (which consisted of some wise saying) repeatedly below. The Gods of the Copybook Headings are refering to those wise sayings that are always rising up and smacking us in the proverbial face when we forget their basic truths!
When I go to the bank or the Drs office great care is taken to make sure I have read their privacy policy. What a farce. Nothing is private anymore.
BTW I suppose with the Dimwits in control there is no hope of getting voter ID put into law as a start to curbing voter fraud. Voter fraud is rampant especially here in Ohio.
“Want to place any bets that nothing will happen to her?”
First you have “We are investigating”, followed by “We have suspended her”, next will be “It will be noted in her personal file”, and in no time at all she will be back at work, quietly congratulated by her superiors and coworkers.
