President-Elect D’oh-bama’s Gaffe #1: Sorry, Nancy

Or rather, continues.
President-elect D’oh-bama apologizes (vid here in case you missed it):
President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for a joke about her having heald “séances” in the White House, an Obama aide said.
“President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today’s press conference,” said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter. “The President-elect expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation.”
Obama was asked at his press conference today if he’d spoken to all the “living” presidents.
“I have spoken to all of them who are living,” he responded. “I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances.”
Hillary Clinton did seances. Nancy Reagan did astrology.
At least he didn’t call her “Weezy.”
Can’t wait until the increasingly erratic, super-gaffetastic Vice President-Elect gets rollin’.

I accidently saw a blessedly brief clip of this press whatever, regarding his pre-healing of the universe. BO looked a bit ragged and sweaty. Perhaps he realizes he will, at times, be off teleprompter amd will have to depend on Joe Biden? That would make me nervous,too.

Note how many times the term “President-elect” was repeated in that story. Contrast that with any reporting of President Bush. After one perfunctory use of the word “President” they’re off to calling him “Mr. Bush”.

I see now that we’ve maligned Christopher Buckley unfairly. It’s obvious a typo was introduced into his endorsement of Obama – he really meant “first-crass temper”.
I am so appalled on so many levels.
This was his first real chance to present himself as presidential and he totally blew it. This is a tough thing to day, but he is showing himself to be not worthy. It’s almost like he’s expressing him anxiety about not feeling worthy. The ‘mutt’ comment was very telling. This is SO unacceptable to our American exceptionablism.

So not only did he piss off Reagan, but also Clinton, who with her husband, is influential and well connected with Obama’s future staff and cabinet.

Not to defend him but in Hawaii it’s very common to refer to oneself or others who are of mixed blood (probably most people here) as “poi”. It’s closer to the “melting pot” idea, than “mutt” as “inferior to pure”. No one here would be offended. Just sayin’…

I really got a kick out of the way the stock market lost 145 points once he started talking this afternoon. The only upside it recovered by the end of the day, but I am confident that as we see more of his cabinet picks and advisors it will continue to tank.
May favorite part of the “elected one” is how he side stepped the question on raising taxes. I almost wish I could have seen this, but was at work I heard he really had trouble struggling without a telepromter. To think all of the liberals used to make fun of Bush, I hate to say it but, the “elected one” made Bush look like the orator of the century compared to him. I’ll be cutting him about as much slack as the liberals did Bush!

Then something occurred to me: This is exactly the kind of lame humor a college instructor/professor uses in class to show how cool he is and that he really is a good guy (i.e liberal/leftist). I shared this bit of news with a lady I work with who is originally from Michigan and I thought her head was going to explode. I cringe at what this woman has done in giving Michigan the highest unemployment rate in the US. Just think what her advice can do for the rest of the country.

Maybe his intent was for the remark to be an under-the-radar swipe at Hillary by attributing her behavior to Nancy Reagan. He may not have even realized that he insulted Mrs. Reagan, because in Barack America, it’s a given that the Reagans are to be regarded without respect.
What’s the name of the guy who will be The One’s Chief of Staff? Cuffy Meigs? Anyway, he and Hillary are enemies, so the stage is being set for an intra-party war between The One and Hillary. It’s a fight that Hillary relishes, because in four years, she wants to point to Obama disasters and tell voters that they can’t get that old Clinton magic back with just any old Democrat.
