Unhinged losers: Prop. 8 opponents threaten Mormons and Catholics

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 7, 2008 11:06 AM

Gay marriage activists in California refuse to accept the passage of Prop. 8, the traditional marriage initiative.

They’ve marched in Los Angeles. They’re targeting the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City. And they’re threatening to burn down churches and hunt down people of faith who supported the ballot measure:

Decisions by voters in Florida, Arizona and California to join residents of 27 other states with constitutional protections for traditional marriage have prompted threats of violence against Christians and their churches.

“Burn their f—ing churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers,” wrote “World O Jeff” on the JoeMyGod blogspot today within hours of California officials declaring Proposition 8 had been approved by a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent. Confirmation on voter approval of amendments in Florida and Arizona came earlier.

The amendments in all three states essentially limit marriage to one man and one woman. In California, the measure states the only marriages “valid and recognized” in the state are those between one man and one woman.

Thirty states now have adopted marriage amendments. However, in California, the vitriol appeared especially high since the state Supreme Court in May created same-sex marriage for homosexuals. Proposition 8 overruled the court decision, readopting the marriage definition California voters adopted in 2000.

On a blog website, “Tread” wrote, “I hope the No on 8 people have a long list and long knives.”

Another contributor to the JoeMyGod website said, “While financially I supported the Vote No, and was vocal to everyone and anyone who would listen, I have never considered being a violent radical extremist for our equal rights. But now I think maybe I should consider becoming one. Perhaps that is the only thing that will affect the change we so desperately need and deserve.”

A contributor identifying himself as “Joe” said, “I swear, I’d murder people with my bare hands this morning.”

The Huffington Post is leading the charge to strip the Mormon church of its status as a religious organization.

A Carlsbad man was arrested after allegedly assaulting an elderly couple over their pro-Prop. 8 sign:

accused of punching an elderly couple because they had Yes On Prop 8 signs in their yard says he’s innocent.

Thursday, Lawrence Pizzicara pleaded not guilty to attacking his neighbors on Monday allegedly during an argument over Prop 8 signs.

The couple suffered numerous injuries.

Pizzicara is being held on $200,000 bail.

But don’t expect to read any condemnations of this insane rage on the NYT front page…

***

Since blacks and Latinos voted overwhelmingly for Prop. 8, I fully expect to see gay zealots marching onto South Central and East L.A. and threatening to burn down houses and businesses there.

Waiting…

If the gay marriage supporters want it so bad, get it on the ballot and let us all decide.

Define irony. Since blacks and Latinos voted overwhelmingly for both Prop. 8 and Barack Obama, that means that all of the white, liberal gays and lesbians who worked so hard to increase minority voter registration on behalf of our new fearless leader were, unwittingly, also helping to pass the proposition banning gay marriage. That just warms the cockles of my cold little heart.

On the other hand, people here are reacting towards violence and insults towards them and people like them.

HuffPoo stands zero chance of doing anything against the Mormon Church or any other. Polls showed that 70 percent of African-American voters in California voted for Prop 8, even though they voted for Barack Obama and other Dem candidates. This is a non-partisan issue, its a moral issue, just as the Catholics and Mormons have been saying. Neither of these religious organizations as advocated removing constitutional rights for gays and lesbians; quite the contrary. But the gay and lesbian hordes (maybe an overstatement) are perfectly willing to deprive their opponents of not only their rights, but their lives as well (if you believe these trolls.) Very instructive.

So there are lots of posts here claiming that all gays are hateful? Even if that were the case, it wouldn’t be that far from the truth. There are a lot of gays that are hateful. Would you have seen this kind of result from the other side if the vote went another way? Not even close. The truth hurts.

Threatening violence in response to nonviolence is something completely different than people responding to violence with some disparaging remarks. Which your post, at least implicitly, treated the same. I think that speaks volumes about you.

I am a gay man, 57 years old, living with my partner of 20 years here in California. We have a Domestic Partner law here in CA, and have for years. Domestic Partners have all “spousal rights” that the state of California can give, such as joint tax filing, community property, etc.

“Marriage” would have changed none of this. We would have no more rights being “married” than being “DP’d”, as we say.

I’m sorry to disagree with you but I believe this a legal issue. If we take a basic natural law structure and we break down the absolutes of a man and woman only, then we create a “slippery slope”. Legal precedent will be achieved, redefining marriage and because of civil rights laws, other forms of marriage can not be denied. This needs to be looked at as in the same perspective as abortion. There can not be arbitrary lines defining life and death and there can not be arbitrary line in defining marriage.

It is clear, and statistics prove, that the ideal environment for children to raised in, is with their natural mother and father. This relationship, not only raises happier, better adjusted and more productive children, but the parents also are far better off than those in any other type of family relationship that does not include an intact family unit. “Intact nuclear families” are the “bricks” that all healthy societies are built with. To celebrate and encourage blended (step) families, single moms, Mr. moms, un-wed parents and homosexual families, is to discourage that which strengthens individuals, families, communities and our nation. Of course the “ideal family” is not always possible, but it should be encouraged wherever possible, and less healthy alternatives should be tolerated only as a last resort.

To present homosexuality as a normal human behavior, and something to be proud of, is to turn reason and common sense on its head. I believe that homosexuality is obviously an abnormal behavior. Today’s popular culture has lost the ability to distinguish between normal and abnormal, right and wrong, healthy and unhealthy, considerate and inconsiderate, masculine and feminine, positive and negative, fact and fiction, noble and shameful and good and bad.

    Excellent post.

Ditto. He made an excllent point.

I am a render unto Caesar type. If the State, which is amoral, wants to afford rights to people like sdillard, that is within the State’s purview.

My Christian belief is that homosexuality is a sin. So is lying to your neighbor or cheating on my income tax. Sin to God is sin. Some of my fellow Christians do not share my views on homosexuality.

I am sure there things I am sure that do not think are sins that are that I will never ask forgiveness for. Will I go to Hell for that? No, because my Savior knows I am imperfect and I ask him to forgive all my sins.

I return to my premise from a previous post. The State has to recognize that the word “marriage” is tied to a religion based relationship that believers feel is insituted by God. If the State wants to have a secular equivalent for temoral purposes and do not call it marriage, that’s within Caesar’s authority. Caesar being the majority.

These gay zealots are not pro gay rights, they are anti-Christian. sdillard’s post proves that with crystal clarity.

We should be witnesses to our faith and in love express our concerns to those who do not share our beliefs. However, I WILL cross swords with gays or anyone else is when they use a public venue to “evangelize” to my children or attempt to force me to not “render unto God the things that are God’s.”

Sdillard and his partner sound like they would be good neighbors, no different than a liberal Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddist, agnostic who practices “Do unto others.” That kind of tolerance and respect for our neighbor’s rights, not the forced kind these gay rioters advocate is the way America is supposed to work.

Like that campaign sign we saw held up like the black man, “I am Joe the Plumber and yes we are related, We are American.”

    My opinion.

Really? Among other things, marriage is a type of contract between individuals. The state has a role in the marriage contract just as it does in other contracts. How else can it protect its citizens against fraud or make sure that parties in a contract are treated fairly under the law.

Do you really think the state has no interest in what happens to children after a divorce? A “separation of marriage and state” is not as simple as it may seem. The state has an interest in promoting healthy families, which compose the foundation of any viable society.

The Night of the Long Knives was a purge that took place in Nazi Germany between June 30 and July 2, 1934, when the Nazi regime carried out a series of political executions, most of those killed being members of the Sturmabteilung (SA), a Nazi paramilitary organization. Adolf Hitler moved against the SA and its leader, Ernst Röhm, because he saw the independence of the SA and the penchant of its members for street violence as a direct threat to his power.

I’m sorry, Omu, but the First Amendment guarantees that the Federal Government cannot establish a religion, nor can it tell the members of a religion what to believe or not. If you don’t like the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, then don’t go there. If you don’t like the way Mormons vote, then round up more people who agree with you and outvote them.

Requiring people to agree/accept/acquiesce to “values” and behaviors that they find to be morally repugnant is the act of a Fascist. Are you a Fascist, Omu?

It’s sad to see someone so blinded. You are so sadly mistaken. Mormon’s are taught to treat all people with dignity. But you equate dignity with forced acceptance by us of your lifestyle. You are free to live your lifestyle. You are not free to force acceptance of the same on others.
