The adoration of the Obamessiah

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 9, 2008 11:33 AM

A national holiday in honor of The One? For heaven’s sake:

Plans are being made to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama, who will become the nation’s 44th president when he takes the oath of office Jan. 20.

“Yes We Can” planning rallies will be at 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the downtown McDonald’s restaurant, 1100 Kansas Ave., until Jan. 13. The goals are to secure a national holiday in Obama’s honor, to organize celebrations around his inauguration and to celebrate the 200th birthday of President Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12 1809.

At 7:30 a.m. on Inauguration Day, Obama Cake will be served at the downtown McDonald’s, and a celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. to midnight Jan. 20 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, 420 S.E. 6th.

Now, remember: If you oppose the Obama National Holiday, you’re a RAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST!

Let me put it this way. I’m not buying stock in Obama at this time. I believe it’s WAY overvalued. Looking from the outside, superficially, it looks good. But the fundamentals are flawed. Impractical domestic policies, weak foreign policy, too thin-skinned. It’s partly out of compassion I’m not buying the Obama stock, because that would just pump it up higher, making the crash that much more painful.

I just read an article on the internet reporting the world-wide reaction to our presidential election. From every corner and country, people expressed delight that we had elected a bright new personality with energy and charisma who, hopefully, will carry us into a new era.

Let us pray that he can rally a following to lead us out of this mess we are in and that all the crazies in this world can be diverted from trying to assassinate him. He faces such a huge task, it seems impossible for one man to handle. I wonder how we could help him?

How can educated people be so damn dumb?

They attacked McCain. They attacked Joe the Plumber. They savaged Sarah Palin. They ignored the credit card fraud that helped finance his campaign. And he still only won by 6 percent.

There already is a national holiday that will honor Obama after 1/20/09. It’s called Presidents Day.

If that’s good enough for Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, and Reagan (who have actually demonstrated a meaningful performance as POTUS) and well as all the other 38 (who had varying levels of success — some great, some not so much), then it should be good enough for Obama.

As our host is wont to say, CRIKEY!

The guy hasn’t spent one minute in office yet and some people already want to elevate him to the head of the class by having his own special day.

Just wondering, if this is done, how embarrassing would it be if this guy does something that makes him one of the worst presidents on record and every year forever after we have to celebrate a holiday in his honor?

Oh, I forgot. Liberals are never embarrassed by a substandard performance by another liberal, so they’d have no problem with it.

What has happened to U. S. politics on the left? The MSM has treated Obama like a special education child from the beginning. He has done nothing, has no record of achievment, yet they celebrate everything as if he has just won the world series.

He will immediatley become the bestest president ever simply by taking the oath of office. Yet, again he has done nothing and by the MSM’s lowering of his expectations, will most likely do nothing but survive to run for re-election.

Actually, there IS a holiday for The One and it ain’t President’s Day. It’s called Martin Luther King Day. Obama’s success has more to do with King’s ‘I Have Dream’ speech than anything else (except of course the bowing, scraping and mindless adoration by the MSM).

It would be easy to turn the Lincoln Memorial into the “Obama Shrine”… recarve the Lincoln statue’s face, a few new words… and there ya go!

Nothing. But it costs a trillion dollars.

They do know that Lincoln was Republican, don’t they?

Does anyone remember when the Little Rascals baked a “surprise cake?” Oh, it had all sorts of goodies in it. The most vivid object I remember was an old boot.

    Unbelievable.

Its funny how Obama is worthy to have a national holiday after him… meanwhile George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, John Hancock, Patrick Henry and every other Founding Father and President doesnt.

So its fine to have Martin Luther King Day… now Barack Obama day… but forget them white folks… they didnt do anything. No absolutely not.

They only created The United States and sacrificed all they had to do so. Not a biggie lol.

I bet Obama could wipe himself with the original draft of the Constitution in front of the liberal media and they wouldn’t report it…

Planning under way for Obama holiday

Mark me down as totally against this absurd idea.

If McDonald’s promotes this nationally, I will boycott that business.

As others have noted above, if we are to recognize another national holiday, it should be Patriots Day in honor of the victims and members of our military who gave their lives in response to the dastardly attack on our shores September 11, 2001.

We should all celebrate “Obamagiving” near the end of November every year. The celebration of lower seas and a healed planet shall be preceded by a reading from one of what will surely soon be three autobiographies written by the One and be celebrated with caviar, arugula and lobster.

Unfortunately, the MSM looks at him as their savior. This is a man willing to sign the Fairness Doc. The single greatest reason for their fall is alternative outlets. They think this will save them from a terrible injustice. How can they not support him, regardless of his other failings?

Well, considering the tanking media stocks and profits (lack thereof), they need to take a 2nd look in the mirror. They are losing readers and advertisers. Big time.

I stopped watching MSNBC completely. Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, Mika Brezenski… what total in the bag liberals. I just skip that channel now.
