Hanging by a thread in Minnesota
Just keeping you posted on the Coleman-Franken vote count in Minnesota. Norm Coleman is hanging by a thread:

Minnesota-based Power Line has been keeping tabs. And so has Ed Morrissey.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Modern day “every vote counts” scenario. Apathetic conservatives/Republicans/libertarians will have only themselves to blame if Al Franken wins by a few hundred, if that.
I wonder how this would have turned out had there not been an “Independence” candidate.
Still trying to manufacture enough votes to declare Franken the winner.
How can that moron Franken-dummy even be that close? That’s just sick.
This Senate super-majority stuff makes me want to swallow a bottle of anti-depressants.
A Franken victory will be the ultimate disgrace to American politics.
The only positive is that we could maybe say that the election was a joke for unserious candidates.
How pathetic is the GOP that we can’t even beat a freaking comedian?
If Franken loses, the net result will be 12 new ACORN offices in Minnesota.
Wow – what an embarrassment for a great state! Minnesota, what happened to your upper-midwest values?
The fact that Franken won his primary is so beyond my comprehension… these people here are so darned stupid!
Seems like all the new found votes come in even numbers.100 here,100 there. They should be just a little creative and not be so obvious that they are stealing the seat. The entire country loses in this theft.
Unnerving idiotic fellow citizens or Dems loading the ballot boxes again? Either way creates real doubt for the fate of our country, culture, and very lives. This can’t be what 9% satisfaction with congress actually means, can it?
Will they have to have another election to see who will be elected, Coleman or that person, since it this close?
L
he’s not a comedian, he’s a satirist. Ask him, he’ll tell you
As usual the fix is in for the left. It must be frustrating for the residents of that state knowing their vote is worth nothing.
I’m surprised it’s taken then so long to ‘discover’ the Franken votes. Thought Princess Nudelman and Mickey Mouse’s ballots would turn up a lot sooner.
I realize that this will make me a heretic, but I don’t want Coleman to win.
Coleman is precisely the kind of moderate who needs to go bye-bye. This country deserves Al Franken.
We already know it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Al Franken is just the kind of person to show America what they get when they embrace socialism.
Pink panty wearing Momma’s boy. Didn’t I see him in the pics at Up Your Ally in San Fransicko?
docflash
not only are they in even numbers, they all are always votes for Franken.
The same way a state can re-elect Murtha after he called them racists and rednecks.
America deserves exactly what’s coming to us.
I thought Pennsylvania was dumb (stooped redneck reelected Murtha for gawds sake). Now Minnesota wants to give them a run for their money. Of course I live in Flori-duh where the talk by the liberals here is I should not own guns. With O’ they might get their wish that the 2nd amendment will be erased.
Satirist is a euphemism for unfunny comedian.
Never, EVER, give up your guns. You’ll need them. Hide ‘em if you have to .
This election is proof that man has had an effect on the environment. By not allowing natural selection to proceed unfettered by our intervention, we have allowed stupid people to survive and breed. The net result of this is that there is a population of 1,211,359 living in a single Congressional district in Minnesota alone. The nationwide total is about 52% of the population. We need to cull the herd.
Minnesota, you are not good enough, not smart enough, and gosh darn it no one likes you!
Idiots!
If Al Frankenstein becomes a Senator, I’ll die.
Stupid, stupid people in MN!
Anyone who doesn’t believe that they will find enough votes to put AL FRANKEN in the Senate is living in fairytale land. Franken WILL be Senator, that’s just the way it is…
Just like we are all crazy to think that Prop. 8 results won’t be changed somehow to allow men to “marry” each other.
Sorry, everytime I imagine two MEN getting “married” to each other, I want to upchuck. Whoever heard of anything so ridiculous?
Eventually, they will make it happen, in California and all 57 states… But I will never acknowledge the sham of two men being “married.” It’s just too freakin’ STUPID!
*waves hand like eager student* I voted for Norm!
I dream that Coleman wins the final recount by one vote … and then it turns out that Franken forgot to vote.
A few hundred votes? Looks like its down to 205…wouldn’t it be wonderful if the Dems got a filibuster-proof Senate because this freakin’ idiot took advantage of a loser of a libertarian candidate to divide the electorate and squeak by. This is why I hate third parties. Again. Some more. Still.
How can Franken be that close? I don’t know if they have it in Minnesota but here in NC, we have a button on the voting machines labeled “Straight Party Line Vote” – push this for Democrats (as I’m sure many Obama supporters did) and you’ll vote for every Democrat on the ballot and you’re done.
I’m convinced this is why every Republican lost on the ballot in my precinct – from county commissioners to Governors to Senators.
Please, it’s 58 states.
norm coleman must be loathed in minnesota for a nutjob like franken to even come close. how else is this even possible?
“This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.”
Will Rogers
Now he was a satirist.
CE, I agree. Coleman voted for the bailout. Sick of these RINOs. Buh-bye, Norm.
I am sorry to hear that you are taking it so hard, BAL.
But if it does come to a Franken victory — since you are going to die anyway — might I suggest to you a final, heroic service that you might offer to your country (and which would undoubtedly burnish your resumé for your meeting with our maker)? {wink}
Hey Soap – along with that, Obama stated that he would bankrupt the coal industry and Pennsylvania still voted for him.. I think there are times when you just have to back away, build a tall fence and lock the gate for awhile.
Unbelievable…
awesome that barkley is taking votes away… reform party of jesse ventura!
My understanding was that Barkley’s votes were coming at the expense of Franken. According to a Rasmussen survey taken shortly before the election, Barkley was supported by 10% of Democrats and 5% of Republicans.
I have no doubt the Democrat Secretary of State will do all he can to manufacture the necessary votes for Franken to win. This bit of news just puts the end of a perfect day trying to put the final fall finishing touch on my yard. I have been fighting with a POS made in China Sears mower all damn day still can’t get it to run. Bought it new this spring and it already is having problems running. I regret giving my 9 year old Pulan to my sister-in-law at least the thing was dependable. Sorry about the rant, but I do feel better.
OT: Soap most of the folks in the middle of nowhere Idaho will have their guns taken out of their cold dead hands (includes me and Mrs. Boomer). I went by the local gun seller today and he sold 95 weapons on Saturday at the Boise Gun Show. Considering it is a small father son operation with a very good friend as their gunsmith they did very well. Even with the bonanza of this weekend they said business has really slowed with about 25% of our Fighter Wing (for the OPSEC Police this is public knowledge). A lot of the folks I know that are deployed are hunters and shooters so they will probably spend their per diem on the final touches to their personal arsenals when they get home starting in early January.
Now back to our regularly schedule thread!
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE (mo-lone lah-veh) Translation: Come and take them!
Don’t forget they reelected Murtha over a great man.
Nice of Al Franken to say that all this recounting is a waste of the tax payer’s money and that he concedes. Guess that won’t happen. He’s really saying “Hey, I thought ACORN took care of this! What’s with all the votes for that other guy? Didn’t we pay enough people off for this?”
And why don’t we Conservatives run some Stealth Candidates under the guise of the Democrat Party? There are many RINOS but where are the DINOS? Let’s get some “Democrats” elected that will turn on their party! Sabatoge! They do it all the time!
Should I interpret this as some 43700 people in Minnesota don’t know an ass when they see one?
Scratch Minnesota from my list as a vacation choice.
205 votes?……….Egads….
If that pathetic excuse for a human wins, I fully expect Michael Moore to run next election. Maybe even Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar next…
What the hell is wrong with people???
Well, this is just an FYI here, but I was just talking to our VP of Sales who is in MN, and he’s a conservative and his wife is a bleeding heart liberal. His wife voted for Obama, but couldn’t bring herself to vote for Franken. She would never “defy” her party and vote for a Republican, so she voted for Dean Barkley.
He voted for McCain/Coleman.
I asked him why people don’t like Coleman there, and he basically said because he has done nothing. No one really likes him up there.
Karl Rove told a story the other night.
Franken and he were at a White House function… God only knows why Franken would be at a WH function… anyway… the exchange went something like this.
Franken: “Hey, your Karl Rove right?”
Rove: “Yes am am.”
Franken : “Good… I hate you.”
Rove: “Well, I just met you and I don’t hate you.”
Franken was beside himself that he didn’t get a rise from Rove. What a classless piece of crap Franken is…
Which is precisely the reason why I’m intentionally not voting in the runoff here in Georgia. I didn’t vote that race in the general and I’m not voting in the runoff. I refuse to vote for Saxby Chambliss.
#36… PA did not elect Obama. The voter fraudsters in Philly put him over the top. Therefore, I don’t consider Philly a part of PA anymore. Truth be told, my county turned RED this year!! w00t!
No, it’s quite believable. Any time that the race is within less than 1000 votes, count on the donkeys to cheat. It’s built into their DNA.
Don’t be fooled. Democrats CAN and WILL steal this election for Al Franken, unless Republicans have their act together 110%.
I am from Washington State where Democrats stole both the Govenorship from Dino Rossi and a Senate seat from Slade Gordon.
I havent read anything about it yet, but I assume Democrats in Minnesota are going to courts right now to get provisional ballots included in the final tally. Democrats only need to find, manufacture, or sue for a couple hundred votes. They are very experienced at it.
They stop counting when Franken gets one more vote than Coleman. Until then, count count and hope someone leaves the room — Can anyone believe sane people would actually vote for someone like Franken? Why?
Republicans and Conservatives have let Democrat vote fraud slide for decades… now the Democrats have perfected that “Art,” and cannot be stopped.
Folks, the entire disastrous election, and all that is associated with it is the result of multiple generations of “good people” failing to vigilantly fight for their country.
Yep, just look at what happened in the 2004 race in Washington (Governor). Fraudoire did two recounts, and she still wasn’t winning decided to sue and “found” what, a little over a hundred votes in her favor.
Well, when we are 1 vote shy of being able to filibuster the fairness doctrine, or amnesty, or the “freedom of choice” Act, or Jamie Gorelick’s nomination to Justice, we will all know where to put the blame!
The time to oppose RINOS is in the primaries. You support cnservaties, work for them and try to get them elected. And if, in the end, you lose and the RINO wins, you grow up and realize getting someone who agrees with you half the time for 6, 12, 18, 24 years is far better than getting someone you disagree with ALL the time for 6, 12, 18 or 24 years!
I would rather have a RINO representing me in the senate any day than Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell. A person I agree with 50 or even 40 percent of the time is better than a liberal hack I disagree with on everything.
You dont GROW a party by excluding people from it! And you ccertainly dont win elections without growing the party.
I really have no patience whatsoever for people who think themselves ideological “purists”. “Oh look at me! and how ideologically puuure I am!” Its really nothing more than mastabatory immaturity.
John McCain is largely a RINO, yet none less than Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin were able to support him enthusiastically, because, well, truth be told, because theyre grown ups and they know that doing whats best for America sometimes requires compromise with yes, gasp, RINOS! And I’ll take their conservative credentials over any “purists” any day.
it’s not the people of MN – it’s the people of Mpls-St.P. Outside of the twin cities sanity rules, meaningful thoughts are generated, mental challenges are studied, over come, and conquored. However Minneapolis-St. Paul is full of city bred dummies all wandering around with one hand out and one leg up expecting Uncle Sam to be their nanny.
Just about the only truly stupid person outside of the Twin Cities (Ed Schultz) has been escorted across the state line to Fargo where he’s held up as a curiosity and an example by hard working parents throughout MN and ND. “Look,” they tell their children, “Worship government excess and expect a hand out and that’s what you’ll grow up to be like.”
It’s a HUGE education for the young folks of the northern prairies. We call it “Scared smart”
However the kool-aid sucking sheeple of Minneapolis/St. Paul outnumber the rest of the hard working people of Minnesota so a wonderful, delightful place on Gods green earth has to unfairly carry the curse of city liberalism, much like New York state has to suffer the excesses and social greed of Manhattan.
I live in Minnesota…I am a conservative. Believe it or not, there are a few of us up here who have brains. And don’t count us out when considering vacation plans. We have 10,000+ lakes and the boundary waters. Even Al Franken can’t screw that up! And as far as nobody liking us…you may be right about that.
My daughter voted for Barklay and my son-in-law voted for Franken. They are both on my S@#t list but especially HIM! This is one pissed-off mother-in-law and he is already regretting his vote. I told him if Franken wins by two votes he is out of the family. Sigh.
If you’ve been following this story the Minnesota Dems keep coming up with mysteriously “lost” ballots that are just now surfacing. Of course none of these were “secured”, so they were most likely filled out AFTER the election. Not just crooks …… damned crooks.
Three letters: ACORN.
Actually Franken fits right in with all the other do nothing, whinny dems.
How pathetic is it that so many morons in Minnesota would vote for this As_ wipe?
I couldn’t agree more. I think it’s the cold and close proximity to canada that affects their minds.
Happyscrapper – You should tell that no-good bum to get lost! He’s not good enough for your daughter anyway! I bet she was a smart person, then he must have corrupted her to turn liberal. What a tragedy for your family. I feel for you.
HEY…I’m starting to resent these remarks!! We are not ALL idiots. We may all be farmers and live in igloos, but some of us do have intelligence, you betcha!
On November 10th, 2008 at 5:51 pm,
Actually, he hasn’t corrupted her yet. She is still a conservative…except she voted for Barkley because she doesn’t like Coleman. I told her she wasted her vote and now she is starting to agree with me. She just needs to grow up a bit and become a more seasoned voter. Although conservative, she did vote for McCain. She knows all the junk about Obama and is scared to death of him. Now, my son-in-law is another story. There may be hope for him because he isn’t very informed…hopefully I can reprogram him before the next election. We have to keep him because of our adorable grandson and one on the way!! Other than his voting idiocy, he is a pretty neat guy.
It is a standard practice of Democrats to keep doing recounts until enough votes have been “found” to enable the Dem to win.
See Gregoire.
Can Jeff Spicoli be far behind??
IMHO, the solution here is simple. A candidate should be able to delegate his votes to another candidate, with a 2/3 discount.
Obviously a runoff vote is also an option, but it seems those who didn’t vote the first time (because it wasn’t that big a deal to vote) shouldn’t get the option to vote in runoffs. Those who did vote for a minority candidate, would get some say in how things turned out according to how the person they voted for chooses to delegate their votes. Presumably, this would be to curry some sort of favor for some cause the minority candidate championed.
It would take a Constitutional Amendment to erase the Second Amendment, and that won’t happen. Even if it does, I won’t acknowledge the validity of amending the Bill of Rights.
The Resistance is here. The Resistance is now.
ECS
OMG, you people aren’t serious? I can’t stand Al Franken but this is Minnesota! THE MOST LIBERAL VOTING STATE EVER! This is one of the US STATES THAT HAVE SHARIA COURTS FOR MUSLIMS! Why do you expect them to vote conservatively? I’m surprised that a Republican is so close in winning a seat there.
If Al Franken wins, I will leave the country!
Wait!! I all ready have.
Good Lord? I was just kidding. I have to go back to THAT? Al Franken? He has to wear a helmet when he sleeps!!
I hate to say it but I think we’re screwed here.
They already cheated the result down by 500 votes, certainly they’ll dig up the extra 206…
I don’t know what is more disgusting, that a classless loser like Franken who couldn’t possibly have the qualities needed to do well in the position is able to come so close to winning, while attacks on Sarah Palin as unqualified continue – or that whenver an election is this close, the outcome isn’t determined by who won, but by how much we can do to limit the Democrat cheating…
A win by Franken will be the most embarrassing election since Italians voted a porn star into their National Assembly.
The democrats will do it like they tried in the 2000 Florida election. Keep counting (and stuffing in phony ACORN registered votes) until FrankinStein wins. Micky Mouse, Ben Dover, Goofy, and others will get another unprincipled liberal into the senate. I can’t wait for the T.V. to show “vote judges” staring at the computer tally cards checking for hanging chads or stray magnetic domains to determine that this was really a vote for FrankinStein.
It probably doesn’t mean much–with the RINO ladies from Maine, the independent and socialist, and the Biden tie breaking vote the country is headed for the cliff. The “Messiah” will applaud as the country goes over the edge–no veto here. Welcome to the new U.S.S.A!
John Bibb
A racist, anti-Constitutional, anti-Americanism, Socialist gets elected President of the United States and you guys are surprised that Franken is as close as he is?
Are you kidding me?
Sharia courts for Mulims? Since when? I think you may have some false information. And, we have a Republican governor.
First you inflict lutefisk on us, the Ed Schultz, now Al Franken… COME ON ALREADY MINNESOTA!!!
Haven’t we suffered enough?
PKAmmoTroop…you think you are suffering? I have to live here! And my brother is a stark raving moonbat who can’t even carry on a lucid conversation. I have managed to find fellow conservatives here and we comfort each other.
Man, MN will vote in anyone it seems. A wrestler, a bad comedian. As bad as California is, at least we would never vote in a former actor…oh wait a minute
Here Happyscrapper,
this is the transcript from a MINNESOTA court room: http://www.lawlibrary.state.mn.us/archive/ctappub/0406/opa031736-0601.htm
And here’s another link talking about Sharia in Texas legal system:
http://volokh.com/posts/1202454061.shtml
I think the ACORN fraudsters got away with a big one this time…
#74 What’s wrong with porn stars?
Sorry, I’ve not read the thread, but cannot someone with legal credentials go after these continual snooping/scoping out Dumocrap ballots without asking where the GOP ballots are hiding? Give me a break! All lost votes cannot be exclusively Donk!
How frighteningly true is that?
Last post, these two articles are by Michelle Malkin talking about Minnesota schools and Sharia:
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/04/11/sharia-in-the-schools-monitoring-the-american-madrassa/
And the US Treasury Department using Sharia: http://michellemalkin.com/2008/11/06/sharia-alert-whats-the-treasury-department-up-to-now/
Christopher, your attitude is the only excuse I can think of to explain the 20% conservative vote for BO. I doubt I’d have reached this conclusion without MM’s blog!
Mine’s safely tucked into my purse. D’ya think this could be why gun & safe sales are soaring?
OMG, the classics are always funny
swmntman, does that mean I don’t have to feel guilty when we Texans secede?
Why would you think we would feel guilty anyway?
(As noted many, many times before, Im just waiting for John Wayne to rise from the grave as the 12th Imam and lead us back to reclaim the Alamo)
Oh crap…we really are screwed.
In a normal world, this shouldn’t even be a contest.
Norm Coleman and Saxby Chambliss are having problems? Good.
While in this particular instance, I don’t want them beaten, I do want them terrified. Let them win what should have been safe elections by a couple of hundred votes because they were RINOs. They might grow some sense.
symrian – The problem is, they always assume they weren’t RINO enough. I have yet to see them lose or come close to losing and say, ‘gosh, maybe I should move back to the right…’
It just doesn’t happen.
Well, yeh, but he was a Navy SEAL before that.
Even though Franken was on SNL, I cant say that I remember him from even ONE funny skit. Other than his SNL saying “And by gosh, people like me” I dont even remember him.
