Heckuva job, McLame

From the man whose best-sellers include “Why Courage Matters” and “Character Is Destiny” comes this underwhelming reaction to the cowardly smearing of Sarah Palin by his own unnamed staffers:
“These things happen.”
Not: “Shame on the leakers. I denounce and renounce them.”
Not: “I’m going to get to the bottom of this and make sure those blabbermouths never work in a major campaign again.”
Just: “These things happen.”
Yup. Business as usual from The Maverick’s not-so-maverick campaign:
Senator John McCain: She understands all the energy issues. There’s a $40 billion pipeline coming to bring natural gas to places like California. And so look, she’s a marvelous person.
Jay Leno: Now, these aides that were criticizing her — and I think everyone agrees there were Republican aides who were criticizing her. I know you wouldn’t go for that. I know you’re an old soul. You don’t let people talk — but why?
Senator John McCain: One — these things happen in campaigns too. I think I have at least a thousand, quote, top advisors. “A top advisor said” — people I’ve never even heard of, much less a, quote, top advisor or a high-ranking Republican official. It’s — these things go on in campaigns, and you 6 just –
Jay Leno: Why don’t we just move on.
Senator John McCain: I’m just very proud to have had Sarah Palin and her family, a wonderful family.
Now, contrast McCain’s apathetic response to the fragging attacks on his running mate with McCain’s effusive praise for Democrat Sen. Joe Lieberman (and watch out for the snarky dig at Palin over the clothes brouhaha):
Jay Leno: How about Joe Lieberman? Was he a close choice? Was that possible?
Senator John McCain: Joe is one of the finest, most wonderful men I’ve ever known in my life. I have never known a finer man than Joe Lieberman, and I believe I won the nomination because right before the New Hampshire primary — and I know I don’t expect a lot of you to remember all the details — he came out to supported me. It mattered. Independent voters 7 voted with us. I love Joe Lieberman.
Jay Leno: That might cost him the chairmanship now. Is that –
Senator John McCain: I hope not, because Joe is a wonderful person. And we want people to stand up for –
Jay Leno: Can you do that? Can you lose your chairmanship in the Senate just because you picked what your party perceives as an –
Senator John McCain: It generally is not done. I don’t, obviously, know what — what’s going to happen. But I know that Joe Lieberman is one of the — and by the way, on national security issues, he’s really, really good.
Jay Leno: And he’s an independent now; right?
Senator John McCain: He’s a, quote, independent Democrat.
Jay Leno: Would you want him to be a, quote, independent Republican?
Senator John McCain: No, no.
Jay Leno: Try to get him over on the other side, kind of lure him over –
Senator John McCain: I’m honored to have –
Jay Leno: — get him some clothes, expensive clothes, maybe nice suit? (Laughter.)
Senator John McCain: Neiman Marcus?
Jay Leno: Neiman Marcus.
Senator John McCain: But yeah, I think that — I think that Joe is going to probably remain as what he is, an independent who stands up for what he believes in. We need more people like Joe Lieberman.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, McCain’s opening joke was recycled from Bob Dole’s 1996 joke book.
Bob Dole, February 15, 1996:
If Bob Dole hears the footsteps of the ghosts of New Hampshires past, he is not admitting it.
“Ghosts?” he said in response to a question here this morning. “I don’t see any ghosts.”
And, as if tempting the fates, Mr. Dole went further than his aides, who have been saying lately that he does not have to win New Hampshire to win the Republican Presidential nomination. “Whoever wins next Tuesday in New Hampshire,” Mr. Dole predicted, “will probably be the Republican nominee.”
Twice before, the Granite State has proved a graveyard for Mr. Dole’s Presidential dreams. But Mr. Dole opened his weeklong run-up to next week’s primary here exactly as he did eight years ago, by addressing the New Hampshire Legislature in Concord on Tuesday.
He told the lawmakers about losing back then, but “sleeping like a baby — every two hours, I woke up and cried.”
Jay Leno: As I said, today is Veterans Day. I cannot think of a better person to have as my first guest. Vietnam veteran, real American war hero, also just ran a hard-fought campaign against Barack Obama, now our President elect. Please welcome, in his first television interview,
Senator John McCain. (Applause.) Welcome back, sir.
Senator John McCain: Thank you, my friend. And thank you for having all these brave servicemen and women here. I’m honored to be with you. Thanks.
Jay Leno: It’s been a week since the election. How are you doing?
Senator John McCain: Well, I’ve been sleeping like a baby. (Laughter.) Sleep two hours, wake up and cry. Sleep two hours, wake up and cry. (Laughter.)

NH open primary…how many republicans are in NH??? please.
its obvious to anyone with half a brain.
a day late and a dollar short. he’s lame…he’s yesterday’s news…stop bending over for him!!
BINGO!!!
And that’s a negative, at least in the case of Louisiana. Super Tuesday (and Mardi Gras) was 5 February, Romney dropped out 6 February, the Republican primary in Louisiana was held 9 February, and Huckabee won!! Louisiana’s delegates were awarded to McCain by the Louisiana Republican Party against the will of primary voters. (It should also be noted that registered Independants can pick a primary in Louisiana.)
This stuff just isn’t that hard to look up, but since I was here for it (and pissed at the LRP), I thought I’d share.
Yes IR she can defend herself and has already. The issue is that McCain was the guy that picked Palin…and the question is “why?”
McCain’s own comments about Joseph Lieberman vs. Sarah Palin on the Leno show reveal a lot to me about what McCain’s candidacy was really about. If he truly wanted to win he would have surmised MONTHS AGO that he needed to mend fences with conservatives in ways that even an ardent critic like Ms. Malkin would take notice and rethink her/his opinion opinion. He obviously did not want to have his candidacy win…this one can glean by not only his actions on the campaign trail but what he has said.
The effusive gushing McCain displayed for Lieberman while not taking his campaign crew to task with respect to Sarah Palin tells me that McCain picked her because he truly wanted to throw the election to BHO thinking that she has little experience and won’t really bring a critical state in for McCain. But when campaign crowds blossomed and polls climbed because of Palin’s entrance he became worried and had to do something to short circuit his chances of being elected…..in short he underestimated her.
McCain clearly thought that Palin was a hottie bimbo of no importance, and would help him lose the election big time…instead he came close to winning it…this could not be permitted.
I guess that was the Louisiana Caucus. per wiki:
My head hurts just reading that.
wise_man, so sorry: I forgive you!
I read that OAMP leaves one grouchy!
Hawaii Republicans picked their delegates in May – after Romney had dropped out, after McCain looked like the candidate.
If you’ve been reading this site for longer than two weeks you should know that assertion doesn’t hold water. It’s not like we just suddenly turned on McCain… we never liked him. From from campaign finance reform to the “gang of 14″ nonsense to amnesty McCain has consistently been on the wrong side of every issue except national defense. Many people here said they wouldn’t vote for him at all. Those of us who did say we’d vote for him were doing so only because we saw him as (just barely) the lesser of two evils.
This isn’t derangement. This is a collective “I told you so”. Frankly I think we’re entitled to it.
Well James…its been nice knowing you. My only hope is that the evisceration you get from Irish Rose once she gets done playing over at lgf will be relatively quick and painless.
And by evisceration, be clear I meant literal, not figurative or verbal. She’s just that crazy.
It does make for entertaining threads though.
James Felix #197
Just so. Great comment!
I would add: We’ve let others shut us down with cries of “MDS”, “Hitler”, “Racist”, “Far-right loony”, “Ultra-right idiot”, and how could I forget McCain’s fav during the Amnesty fight: “Bigot”! We’ve let it go on too long.
Never again. I am a Constitutionalist, and I can support my statements with facts.
Bring it on.
Was there a “blowhard” amendment that I missed?
Soooo,
Once again McCain didn’t say anything derogatory against Sarah Palin. A former staff member who has remained anonymous did. McCain has only praised her and her family, yet because he didn’t read Michelle Malkins prepared script we have another Leave Brittany alone thread.
Again, it’s ironic that those who complain about kicking someone when they are down have done the same thing through out his campaign.
One of the reasons McCain lost this fiasco was that he chose someone who didn’t have the experience to run for VP. That took Obamas inexperience off the table and opened her up to being ridiculed by the press/obama campaign. After her performance on the Couric and Gibson interviews it was pretty much over. She isn’t stupid. It is just that she could be made to look stupid. Maybe she will fare better in a few more years.
Palin was chosen to placate people who did almost everything possible to sink his campaign that they could think of. Indeed, many of these loudmouthed morons wound up voting for the latest Ron Paul or Obama. Idiots who proclaimed Rudy Giuliani a “Rino” or Tom Ridge a “baby killer” or Mitt Romney a member of an “evil cult”.
Well, the Republicans lost and the country is going to lurch left. Daddy Yankee must be heartbroken.
I predict that the next time these same people who have held out for the perfect rather than the “we can work with this” will gleefully pull the lever for someone who they would have denigrated as a “RINO” during this election cycle. I also predict that if a self-important blogger gets the equivalent of McCain derangement syndrome in order to bask in the online groupthink she will rightfully ignored.
I could be wrong though, we might just lose again.
What does Sara Palin have that McAmnesty could be jealous of??
(go ahead… start a list)
Hi Billie,
(or, in your case, I guess it should be spelled “high”… Careful with the shroooms, guy…)
You’re back! Great! I guess you’ve “licked” OAMP, just like your best-bud/sockpuppet there, wise_guy.
Good for you!

Oh, now she’s here too…
Let me say it for you “once again”: no is saying McCain personally tried to scapegoat Palin. What we are saying is that if it were Barack Obama being spoken about this way by his staff McCain would be all over it. He’d be forcefully telling everyone in earshot what a decent person his opponent is and how wrong it is to speak about him in such a way. What so outrages us is that he is, again, showing treating his enemies better than his friends.
The word you’re looking for is “hypocritical”, not “ironic”. But it’s actually neither because that’s not what we’re doing.
Glad to see you’ve got your CNN talking points down cold. The fact is that Palin has more executive experience than Obama, Biden and McCain combined.
Whom do you think McCain could possibly have chosen that the press wouldn’t have ridiculed and portrayed as stupid? I’d love to hear it.
Look, by any reasonable standard Palin is more intelligent and sensible than Biden… a lunatic who makes up elaborate fantasies and then forcefully presents them as facts. But the media presented Blowhard Joe as a wise elder statesman and Palin as a nitwit. Why? Because they wanted Obama to win. Period. McCain could have named Stephen Hawking as a running mate and the press would have portrayed him as an idiot.
If you mean Palin was chosen to make the base of the party feel good, well… gee, what a novel concept! Newsflash for you: you’re supposed to make your base feel good. These are the people you purportedly represent.
You have numbers to back that up?
You can blame Palin, Michelle Malkin and Conservatives all you want, but McCain lost because of one person: McCain.
R4L#215
Yes, I’m almost sorry he’ll have less chance to drag them out again.
IR:
MM can take care of herself.
I just realized how insignificant your whining is, after you threw in your kitchen sink claim about your son.
Approx 1/3 the military voted for B.ody O.dor. I have (as you’ll note on the previous page) children in most of the branches. Marines voted for OkieDokie. Hell, my CO voted for him.
When I visited Step-Mom just prior to the election, on base Falcon Courts North, McGuire AFB, the gateguard, a nice lady, had taken 2 vote4Obie buttons & made them into earrings.
I asked her to remove them.. they’re out-of-regs. (simple post earrings only).
She called me an Oreo, and told me, (I’m a full bird, lady) to go to hades.
I hunted down her CO, and spoke w/him. What he told me, qt was that he’d tried… until JAG called and told him she’d called everybody & their brother saying “racism”. He’s close to his 20, he’s wasn’t rocking the boat.
So, please don’t hold up your ties to the military to justify what you do. Your opinions are yours, not your son’s.
McCain may have once been as you depict him. He is no longer so.
#217:
James, what you say is very true.
I would add: look at the draws at campaign stops. Crickets at McCain’s… speedily decreasing attendnce at Obie’s… Palin out drew, in all sorts of weather, either. If McCain has fought as hard to win as Palin fought for him or as hard as he fought *against* anyone pointing out the truth about Obie, he would have won.
But that isn’t material, McCain is *never* wrong. All he does is good, and *shame* on you for not toeing Stinkweed’s line!
if I were you, if possible, I would retire from the military…let those blue devils defend their country.
I think you guys in the military are going to be screwed royally in the next few years…
That’s actually available at CafePress
I take it you’re finding no buyers for all those “McCain-Graham 2012″ bumper stickers that you’ve had printed up, Bill?
I wouldn’t blame those who decide not to re-up or sign up while Obama’s in office, R4L.
R4L:
Thanks, but frankly, anyone in more that 1/2-way to their “20″ is used to “getting scewed”, and look at that as just part of military life. What changed my mind was the joyful abandonment of the Constitution by almost all the Civilian Authority. I could no longer, in good counscience continue. My oath is to the Constitution, and being set in my ways I took a long time to realize that I needed to become a Civie to fully defend it.
musculus #166:
It takes approx. 6mo to a year to muster-out. I’ve been told that stoploss might prevent me leaving. We’ll see.
StepMom will be passed over again for promotion, which is expected. None of us are abandoning the country, but each person is called to serve differently. I get frustrated when Civilians thank me. We’re “tip of the spear”, but w/o the Civilian supporting us, (the person holding the spear…), we’d not be able to function.
Well, where I am, (I’m TDY ex-CONUS), it is a few hrs before I’m supposed to get up. Morale is abismal, not the least because of a B.ody O.dor problem. The short-timers have it the worst, but they didn’t live through Clinton, so no frame of reference.
I really should get some sleep, getting loose.
night all.

I also happen to believe that he is a genuine American patriot who has done more for this country than you, Michelle Malkin and I ever will and that entitles him to a lot more respect then he has gotten.
Moreover, he was running against someone who is going to do his best to erode individualism, American Sovereignty and exceptionalism and replace it with institutions designed to entrench his power and get Americans dependent on his form of government; Someone who was effectively helped into office by the constant, often unfair trashing of john McCain.
Regardless of whether or not his loss is his fault (ultimately it is) it doesn’t excuse the treatment he was subjected to which didn’t help to elect him, or keep Obama out. That this is STILL going on, after the election has been lost is just a further indication that this MDS is emotional, not rational. His career is effectively over, yet you can’t help but chip away.
I think he is an old fool that is trying to screw America and the conservative principles I believe in. McAmnesty is nothing but a loser, he TOTALLY lost me with his attempt to open up the Mexican border.
And you are?
Yes. Go back and read some of the comments before you presume to speak for everyone.
It is both; if you look at the definition you will see that I found the word I was looking for and that one doesn’t exclude the other.
Glad to see that you resort to straw men when you can’t argue the point.
Yes, that didn’t seem to help her get past Katie Couric.
Any of the aforementioned names would have been more difficult to pillory. While we are correcting word usage that is “Who do you think” when referring to McCain. (“He” could have, not “him” could have.)
Sure. That doesn’t matter I am very sorry to say. That also isn’t setting the bar very high.
Indeed.
No, they couldn’t have. See? Hawking is a known commodity, he has a track record, he is a household name and he has been seen and perceived to be “smart”. Reconstructing that narrative would have been too difficult, they would have had to find some other way of dragging him down. (Caribou colostomy?)Hawking had been publicly vetted in a way that Palin had not. They could have and did place whatever narrative they wanted on her and the blown interviews provided them with all they needed.
How good do you feel now that we have lost?
Read the commentary here.
The MDS here didn’t help one damn bit. It did help to essentially do the exact opposite of what it was intended to do (drag the party right) and that too is ironic.

When the PDA refreshed after my last comment, I read Grant #226:
1) you know nothing about me, my service, what rank or branch (until in a moment of heat & fatigue I let my rank slip…). You make too many assumptions to claim rationality as you do below in the same comment.
2) People were kicking him around because:
A) He trades off his service. He expect it to add gravity to his POV. Very well, but with that bene comes a responsibility
a) he needs to act above board, not allowing people to trash his comrade-in-arms with untruths.
He said nothing, didn’t defend someone “in the trenches with him” who helped him more than anyone else, acted loyally to defend his views against her own, and defend *him* against all-comers.
c) this reflects badly on the services, lights us as a bunch of opprotunist bck-biters. He defends his opponents, but not his friends or allies. He came out-the-box fragging his own men, and a Patriot doesn’t do that.
And if you say, as others have, that Conservatives started it, I say: so? he suffers hits meanly meant from his enemies, but spankings from friends not at all? Well, *thats* certainly a good thing.
you know what, I want some sacktime and its too damn hard typing on this PDA. I address these issues elsewhere in this thread, if you are really honest, go look them up.
good night.

Not quite true, this is the whole of the remarks by McCain on the tonight show Regarding Sarah Palin:
I know that he didn’t recite the Michelle Malkin talking points but it was a defense of Sarah Palin.

Your momma.
By this do you mean conservatives? Funny, I used to think that was what the Repub party represented.
And you’re wrong about “MDS” siphoning votes away from McCain. Like many on this blog and throughout the country, I voted for the Repub ticket, although I didn’t want McCain. I was willing to give him a chance, however, based on my foolish notion that he had had a conservative epiphany in choosing Palin. Now I see that he shamefully used her as a prop for his anemic campaign. So, in my heart, I voted only for Palin.
Sorry, he can’t leverage his POW status to promote unhealthy and wrongheaded views for what’s good for America. At the end of his 20+ years of service as an elected official and many years in the military, he would have had a lot more of my respect if he hadn’t incessantly shot himself, and more importantly, conservative principles in the foot at every turn.
Speaking of “self-important”… ::roll eyes::
That kinda makes me wonder if a bitter Juan McAmnesty leaked that BS himself to cover his own butt.
What a dweeb.

Now we just have to help you with that huge green-eye monster that’s holding you captive and won’t let you go!
Or – you could start a “Bill Blog” just so you can bask in the deep appreciation and overwhelming glow of, lo, the overwhelming human mass of readers that will just hang on your every utterance. Go for it, I say!
Hey Bill Grant…Never saw you here before. Some folks are welcoming you back, so I guess you were gone for a while (working or the Obama Campaign?).
First off, Sara Palin was plenty qualified. Actually nore qualified than anyone on either ticket. Just because she is a girl doesn’t mean she’s not allowed to play.
Secondly, McCain NEVER intended to win this election. We all got the shaft on that, both the Dems and Republicans. The fix was in. He was “Reaching across the eisle, My Friend”. And that was reported on and hushed very quickly (just like when Nelson Rockefeller died on top of his secretary [maybe you're old enough to remember that]). If anything, Palin was a problem because it was her that made it closer than they thought it would be, hense the reason they are STILL attacking her (but now its the Republican Elite’s turn).
So, just saying hi and clarifying some things up for you so that you can sleep easily from now on.
And Irish Rose….with a name like that you would expect that she would be tired of being held captive, having her liberties taken away and beaten down by the State.
McCain’s heroism in Viet Nam was very admirable but not hugely consequential for the future of the country.
His arrogant, self-righteous, inept campaign and his relentless, self-serving disloyalty to his own political side has done huge damage to his country.
The USA would clearly be in better shape if the warped little maverick had never been born. I wish I could avoid ever again hearing his contemptible name.
It’s simple. he only respects people who will trample conservative’s and their principles.
Denounce the lies being spread about Sarah Palin?…Nooooooooo…
Pile effusive praise on Joe Leiberman… Oh but of course!!!
McCain isn’t even “right” enough to qualify as a RINO. He’s a closet liberal.
The point was… and it’s accurate.. that he did not denounce these statements being made about Gov. Palin. All he did was say she’s “great”…”has a great family”..
Implied in that omission is his concurrence that he doesn’t dispute what was said. Maybe he just handled it poorly. But if someone attacks your friend, you defend them. He didn’t.
fixed it for ya
The disrespect coming from Michelle Malkin and her cronies on this blog is sickening.
So Michelle, this is the kind of blog that you want to have now?
Go for it. But don’t expect reasonable people out here to laud you for your professional integrity. There is nothing honorable about what goes on here.
This place has been overrun by a gang of thuggish, obsessive right-wing bullies like Mike (and his father before him)… arrogant, immature provacateurs who hide behind their anonymity to attack people on a very personal level and trash anyone who doesn’t agree with them.
You know what it is Michelle, when you let your blog bullies do your dirty work for you, so that you can generate hits while hiding behind the disclaimer? Yellow journalism.
We are of two different generations, you and I. I was raised to be respectful with people even if I disagree with them. In my personal and business communication I was taught to be direct, but kind. I was also taught that bullying is a severe character flaw, not something to be encouraged and rewarded.
This used to be a blog for intelligent, respectful discourse, but no more. It’s now become a magnet for every pissy, petty little bully on the conservative right and it has come to represent the worst that conservatism has to offer.
It’s a shame and a disgrace that you’ve allowed your blog to sink to this level of hateful discourse.
It’s become sadly apparent to me and many others what kind of person Michelle Malkin really is, and it’s tragic. But this is what happens when a blogger/journalist with a self-inflated ego sets up his or her own personal alter in the church of journalistic idolatry.
So go ahead Michelle, bask in the public glow of adoration from your thuggish friends here. Keep kicking away at McCain, feel free. It’s clearly become some kind of psychological release for you.
Unfortunately, it says a lot more about YOUR character, than it does about his.
IR, although I gently pointed out to you that you jumped off on a tangent just to insult me, I have received no response, much less an apology, from you. I don’t need your apology, but like John McCain, character only counts for you when you’re trying to destroy someone else.
Your words today are far more damning than the accusations you level against others. Please take a good long look in the mirror. If you don’t like this blog, it’s a free country. You’re welcome to join people of like minds on other blogs, such as DK and HuffPo.
In case you hadn’t noticed, your credibility is 0.

Any conservative who would deliberaly give aid to a Marxist thug in his bid to assume the most powerful seat in the world, control of the United States government, IS an idiot. It was a descriptive, not an insult.

Again, a descriptive.
I fully expect to be attacked on this thread by the thugs in residence… go for it, folks. Knock yourselves out, it’s what you do best.
I have nothing but pity for you, I have very little concern for what people like you have to say, and I have zero respect for bullies who trash other people to get their rocks off.
This is the last time I’m going to respond to you. I voted for the REPUB ticket, as did many Americans who consider themselves conservatives.
At this point, you are being deliberately thick-headed in your desperate attempt to grab attention. Why else would you continue to post your pointless diatribes? They are neither productive nor enlightening.
Mts, one day you and I are going to have to meet for a drink.
Your answer to IR regarding her deluded rants is spot on, as usual.
No more beating dead horses… it’s time to rebuild the Conservative movement.
CCS, sounds good.
Now I’m off to slay more liberal dragons!
bullies, from someone who calls people morons and @ssholes.
No, no response other than that.
You are no longer relevant.
This for those interested in the methods of Liberals, such as IR & Grant:
Take a close look at the two parallel sentences:
mike.musculus:
you know nothing about me, my service, what rank or branch (until in a moment of heat & fatigue I let my rank slip…)
Grant:
You reference your military service regularly. That is just the case. I might have mentioned mine as well.
Yes, Grant’s state is technically correct. However, here he makes a claims by bundling together an apple and an orange, and not calling it “fruit salad”, but “apples and it is as I said”.
I have in the past vacillated between two views of Grants errors and seemingly dishonest methods of debate.
It could be the result of an honest tendence to loosly assign symbols during the comprehension process. I’ve noticed this most commonly in generations who subscribe to the “whatever” attitude. There are other reason the problem could exist, excluding a dissembling personality and beyond the tendence of the culture to say “close enough” as long as the point is in the general direction of the desired result.
There are (human) hardware and software problems that could cause it, assuming niether cultural influences nor mendacity are operating.
Note that he answers the parallelism he set up:
…he is a genuine American patriot who has done more for this country than you,…
Which I answered with:
…you know nothing about me, my service, what rank or branch (until in a moment of heat & fatigue I let my rank slip…).
Note this next bit: is the key to his method of “winning” arguments:
What he does, instead of answering the basis for his charge, he changes the subject, in effect heading into the tallgrass:
You reference your military service regularly. That is just the case. I might have mentioned mine as well. McCain was trying to win an election against someone who has only served himself, not score points in an internet argument.
He does this, no doubt hoping I’d go after his conflating “rank” with “service”, a common civilian practice. Nor does he note – even in passing, the point I was making: that he has no idea of how I’ve spent 60+ys., and could be a Dirac in any field of human endeavor, so his attempt to pull the “He’s a Patriot, you eveil man” card missed somewhat hitting the mark.
Of course, we all on these blogs, unless we are the owner and can pontificate fully inconsiderate of space, speak in a kind of shorthand.
This shorthand makes it hard to develop complex ideas. I have often had people comment that my comments are too long, and that they are incomprehensible. And these were by people other that Stinkweed, so I suspect they might have a fairness of mind attached.
Well, some of the concepts and proofs don’t fit into the current attention span. That doesn’t mean that they are bad concepts – our Founding Fathers, for example utilized simple concepts, but the citizenry had a better command of the basics. We’ve had that undermined and destroyed, so I find myself explaining background, the roots of the simple concepts I espouse.
What proof? Well, there was the time I cribbed part of a letter from George Washington. I plagerized it, for the sake of an experiment. I had read the idea in my Dad’s political journals, and I decided before I tried it that his prediction was wrong. What did happen?
The one thing I didn’t expect: I was flamed. And IRose, you were one. IRose called me a bully and a blowhard over that one, too. If I ever meet G. Washington in Heaven, I’ll be sure to send your regards, IRose! Grant you were another. All humor aside, I was quite shaken. Well, I thought, maybe they’re more one type than another. The F.Fathers had various shades even though they came to agreement on major points. So I cribbed from others: J.Adams, S.Adams, Jefferson, Madison. That didn’t help, these were rejected for various ad hominin reasons.
This showed me experiment(other than that Dad is smarter than me) was the depth the rot has spread. The concepts of Freedom put forth by those who founded this land are unrecognizable to this generation.
So, IRose, what is blowhard about watching those who we lend our power to? Just give it to them, grin & hope that they don’t misuse – but when they do, never mention it! That is unpatriotic, “…and my son’s a marine!” Ok, Sheehan, I understand. And ANYTHING a man does after he’s spent a few years being tortured is ok, regardless of its impact! He’s earned a pass! Violate the Constitution, his own word, attack those who are honestly concerned about the Country calling them bigots – its all ok with Bill Grant! I understand! Benidict Arnold would love you!
So, yes guys, I’m a blowhard. But I’m a blowhard who stands in the hands of giants.
Wow, MtsEdge, I had no idea we three (plus MM, of course!), were so mighty!
Again, a descriptive:
Asshole: (as’hol’)
n.
(Slang] a person who is stupid, foolish, despicable, etc.
Note:
For the exclusive benefit of the assholes, the term asshole as defined above (used in its slang context) is often used to describe a person who is sometimes or even frequently thought of as being abrasive, slow-witted, foolish, irrational, dull, or habitually displaying the behavior of a pompous know it all jerk.
Being dubbed an asshole usually results from another’s opinion after the asshole has exhibited any of the signs above indicating a lack of normal intelligence and/or understanding.
If the shoe fits, @sshole, then it’s yours to wear.
ooooh, I guess you told me…
Better get your meds, checked, Rosie: your rivets are falling out
Bad mike! Bad mike! Bad! You no make fun of institutionalized people! Bad, bad man!

Stage whisper:
I can’t believe she hasn’t caught on yet….
Self edit:
Better get your meds checked, Rosie: your rivets are falling out
Finally, I disagree with Michelle!
So McCain had a choice to make and you think he made the wrong one. Here’s my take:
He chose to take the high road and revert to his lovable, funny self. Big deal. If he burns bridges with Leno and acts upset over some jokes, he looks like a sore loser and a thin-skinned, angry old man. He’s only been fighting this stereotype for his entire senate career.
As for the ‘aides’ comments, he was making a point – that in all likelihood, those that are making the comments are either not actual McCain aides or are backbiting and making excuses to make themselves look faultless in a sadly run campaign.
McCain is a politician – meaning he knows how to play the game. The morons who are leveling accusations towards Palin are sad people who may, in all likelihood, never admit that it was them who said what was said. But make no mistake about it – from Rick Davis on down, this campaign was a poorly run, always behind in the game, joke. None of them should be allowed to run a campaign – ever. Period. McCain wasn’t the best choice for President, but the fact that the campaign was a failure is not only ridiculous, but illustrative of exactly how disconnected and slow the thinkers who should have made things work were. This campaign was terrible. McCain was made to look foolish, old, angry, and off message. While Obama’s campaign was brilliant and effective, McCain’s ended up being silly and decidedly ineffective. On virtually every issue in this election, McCain’s campaign was behind Obama and lost ground.
There is simply no excuse for a man like McCain to lose to a know nothing socialist with no experience and whose associations would preclude him from virtually any federal job.
I wanna be an asshole, too!!!
IR called MtsEdge an idiot yesterday for saying something that pissed her off, but I’m the one who said it. I feel really left out and unappreciated.
You know you’ve won the argument when your rival doesn’t even try to interrupt their name-calling to engage in debate. You are the man, Sir.
Regards,
SSG CCS

Well, you found the correct website at least, you ignorant little twit. Why should idiots like you be pandered to? Seriously?

saidwent on and on about:Not just “technically correct”, you bring up your military service often. Indeed, I have previously thought it was unseemly the way you trade off of it to lend legitimacy to yourself while presenting an otherwise flawed argument. (That was what you were accusing McCain of, wasn’t it? ) I didn’t toss that out because I thought it might be an excuse for you to type 40 pages of verbiage, but since you are going to do that regardless…
Seemingly dishonest? Quite a charge. Where have I been dishonest?
So… Your point being is that I do not know that you haven’t devoted 50 years of your life to the USA and spent 5 and a half years in a Vietnamese prison camp being tortured because you refused to allow yourself to be a propaganda tool. I guess that’s fair in a deliberately obtuse kind of way… I don’t know that.
The fact that you cue in on this and use phrases like “winning” rather than “persuasion”, this and many other things tell me that this is an exercise in stroking your own personal ego rather than asserting a viewpoint. Indeed… is there a point to all of this Mike? Or is this just an effort to get us all to salute?
No. You apparently think that I am as caught up on it as you are. (I had to reread your prose here to determine what it was.) Because I believe that it is “service” not just a job is why I chose the word “service”. You are twisting yourself in to a knot trying to peruse meanings that are not in the text of what I have written.
No I didn’t. That’s really something I will concede. So, does that entitle you to be unfair or defend the unfair?
I never called you “evil”, just a blowhard. I suspect though, and correct me if I am wrong, that you can raise your arms above your shoulders because you haven’t been worked over by the North Vietnamese.
LOL.
I don’t know what context you used it in or what you consider “flamed”. Perhaps you could provide a link.
Nope. He has earned respect, equity, and a fair examination of who he is and why he has done what he has done. He hasn’t had that here primarily because it is easier and more fun to trash him, and the cynical calculation that doing so gets blog hits. Even after the defeat and the installment of someone who is truly dangerous as president of the USA in part because of actions advocated here… it continues.
I find it funny that you seem to insist that we offer you, probably a good person who needs way too much external validation, respect for identical reasons that we should not feel compelled to do so with McCain. (Yet you have called ME a relativist. You Reallllly have a sliding scale of indignation, buddy.)
Once again, you see what you want to see. (And you call ME a liberal.) Also, once again, you haven’t made your case yet you assume that I buy in to it as such.
So, once again, I am a “traitor” (Benedict Arnold is synonymous as such)… in this case because somewhere along the line I hit a nerve.
Since on a personal level this hasn’t been about my own ego if you wish to call me a “traitor” yes, I find it aggravating but it is borne out of your ignorance and I can live with that because you simply have no idea what I have given up and who I have lost to “serve” this country and the constitution that you think that you have the only right to claim faith to. You simply don’t know what you are talking about.
On an argumentative level since your participation in the perpetual, irrational scapegoating and whining here has probably helped in some immeasurable way to bring about the election of Barack Obama one might call you a traitor to the country as well.
No, I don’t believe that, but you are an incredible blowhard and you are holding someone else to a standard that you don’t see fit to hold yourself to.

Happy to provide you with a chuckle. I cracked a smile at your user name, from A Confederacy of Dunces. Somehow fitting considering what you have posted here.
Strange as it may sound, Sarah Palin can thank the respectable fool Juan McCain and Juan ‘the snake’ Hernandez for her defeat, while Juan McCain can thank Juan ‘the snake’ Hernandez and Jorge ‘Open-borders for drug-traffic’ Bush for his defeat, then again, he can also thank Teddy and La Raza.
Given Americans rejected Tom Tancredo, who has it right on both, National Security and Illegal Immigration, not to mention Islamic terror, Americans deserve what they are getting. Sorry, but a simple fact.
Yes, now beat-up this ‘McCain, Bush, GOP, ….. (fill-in-the-blanks) hater’.
