I hope Barack Obama remembered to thank George Bush on behalf of his illegal alien aunt this week. The lame-duck Republican president did the Democratic president-elect a generous — and dangerous — favor right before Election Day: Putting politics above homeland security, the Bush administration ordered immigration authorities across the country to halt all deportation enforcement actions until after the campaign season was over.
According to my sources, the Bush administration issued a 72-hour cease-and-desist order to all fugitive apprehension teams to spare Obama embarrassment over his Kenyan half-aunt, Zeituni Onyango. The Associated Press had reported on Nov. 1 that Onyango was a deportation evader – one of an estimated 700,000 illegal alien absconders who have ignored orders from immigration judges to leave the country. The wire report mentioned that the Department of Homeland Security distributed “an unusual nationwide directive within Immigrations and Customs Enforcement requiring any deportations prior to Tuesday’s election to be approved at least at the level of ICE regional directors.”
But the politicized order was even worse than the AP reported. The deportation process wasn’t simply slowed down for public relations reasons and fear of a media backlash. The process was completely frozen.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement source familiar with Western field offices told me: “The ICE fugitive operations group throughout the U.S. was told to stand down until after the election from arresting or transporting anyone out of the U.S. This was done to avoid any mistakes of deporting or arresting anyone who could have a connection to the election, i.e., anyone from Kenya who could be a relative. The decision was election-driven.”
Another source close to ICE operations in a southern California field office confirmed that immigration officials there received the same directive: “The reason they included all offices in the US was to show that they were not targeting the district Office where Aunti lived. They don’t want to pick her up by mistake and cause a big problem.”
In other words, the Bush Department of Homeland Security determined that protecting Barack Obama from the negative publicity surrounding a potential arrest of his illegal alien aunt was more important to the general welfare of the country than tracking down untold numbers of deportation absconders who received an extra three-day pass last week. DHS refuses to comment publicly about the case. Warped homeland security priorities are bipartisan. Democrat Rep. John Conyers has called for an immediate investigation – not into the rank politicizing of our deportation policies, but into who leaked Onyango’s deportation fugitive status to the press.
Question: Why shouldn’t this information be public?
As for President-elect Obama, his true views about ICE are well-known. Despite telling Katie Couric that his aunt should be required to follow the law because “We’re a nation of laws…I’m a strong believer you have to obey the law,” Obama scolded ICE agents who do their jobs for “terrorizing” communities.
Onyango arrived in the U.S. in 2000 on a temporary visa. Her asylum request was rejected in 2004. She defied the immigration court order to go back to Kenya, moved into Boston public housing, and is now hiding with relatives in Cleveland while contemplating how to extend her illegal stay.
Question: Will an Obama White House reinstate the deportation enforcement freeze in Ohio? Wouldn’t want to “terrorize” the community.
(Meanwhile, real terrorists have benefited enormously from lax enforcement of deportation orders and asylum loopholes. Ramzi Yousef, Gazi Ibrahim Abu Mezer, and Mir Aimal Kansi all exploited our catch-and-release system by invoking asylum and evading swamped authorities before plotting and executing jihadist attacks.)
Onyango’s options, like those of hundreds of thousands of deportation fugitives like her, are wide open. With the help of a seasoned immigration lawyer, she can take another bite at the judicial apple and appeal her deportation order. She can take her case all the way to the Supreme Court. She can find an illegal alien sanctuary church to give her refuge. Or she can take advantage of the longstanding congressional practice of creating “special relief” bills to help individual deportation fugitives escape punishment and acquire U.S. citizenship.
The post-9/11 Bush homeland security equation looks pretty much like the pre-9/11 one – one that will continue under Barack Obama: Cowardice plus rank opportunism times political correctness equals a lasting recipe for immigration chaos.

Dozens of immigrant advocates from across the country convened in Washington yesterday to call on President-elect Barack Obama to halt work-site immigration raids and fulfill campaign pledges to offer the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States a path to citizenship within his first year in office…
…Representatives of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement, a coalition of grass-roots organizations from Los Angeles, New York and the Washington area, also announced plans to mobilize tens of thousands of immigrants and their supporters for a demonstration on the Mall on Jan. 21, the day after Obama’s inauguration.
“We voted in the millions, and now we’re going to demand progress in the millions,” said Angelica Salas, director of one of the allied organizations, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, at a news conference to publicize the movement’s efforts.

The Republican Party is digging their own grave, and are getting ready to jump in so the Democrats can force somebody to fill it up with dirt. They are going the way of the 19th century Whigs, but it doesn’t appear that there’s anybody to fill in the void. There will only be the Democrats and other parties cheering for ‘em on the sidelines. A viable conservative party for America-loving citizens of the United States (not merely residents who want to trash every last trace of freedom and liberty in the world) no longer exists.
Will all citizens leave now? You’re taking up valuable space needed by illegals. Oh, leave your wallet behind.
For a while now, I’ve been thinking, that if Clinton was “America’s First Black President” then surely GWB is “America’s First Mexican President.”
And while I hate to sound like one of the tinfoil-hat-brigade, Vincente Fox has said he was working with Bush for a unified currency.
I, half jokingly, wonder if Bush is setting himself up for a future run at the presidency of Mexico.
While I respect that GWB has tried to fight terrorism abroad, it’s sickening that he’s been willing to sell out on defending the nation at home (Ramos and Campeon, among other examples), and pretend that border security isn’t really that big a deal (which, if you’re a terrorist with half a brain, how does that not broadcast to you the easiest way to exploit and attack America?)
Why aren’t the results of a Deportation Hearing, publicly available?
They needed them to vote first.
Another reason to rebuild the party form the ground up. The old guard needs to go.

So what seems to be the problem with rounding up and deporting the 700,000 that are known “Deportation Dodgers”? Look at how many of them are already in the custody of the United States Penal System. Instead of a new suit and a pat on the fanny, throw them on a bus or plane or whatever means of transportation necessary and as soon as they have served out their sentance, throw them the hell out with the message that if they are ever found to have returned…

GWB has worked against Conservatives, done things never before done by the GOP head-of-party: meddled in primaries, called the party’s base bigots, stopped shifted minute funding from conservative office holders to party traitors (Santorum to Chaffee)… he has out-done Daddy in damage to Conservatism.
This goes beyond Rush Limbaugh’s assertion that “GWB isn’t a movement conservative, but he’s conservative in his heart.”
I wonder if Limbaugh will admit that GWB is *exactly* as poisonious to Conservatism as ever his Daddy was.
I *still* want my vote back: it was procured under false pretenses.
How I feel about this news reminds me of the title of a Heinlein book, (though not the book itself…): “Grumbles From the Grave”.
Stepping back and looking at this election and the participants actions on both sides, it seems that both “sides”, except for Mrs Palin, Dumbocrats & Rebooblicans worked in the *finest* spirit of bipartisanship to elect Socialists.

Illegal immigration is a huge problem for America, as well as for the immigrants themselves. They may be bringing the very same problems to the U.S. that they are fleeing from at home. They are also abandoning their home country, leaving it to decay. Illegal immigration is a lose-lose situation.
Illegal immigration is harmful on the following levels:
it leads to anarchy and corruption
it promotes a “two class” system in America
it keeps a downward pressure on wages
it puts a strain on limited US services
it gives criminals from foreign countries a safe haven in the US
it allows disease to go unchecked
it dilutes and changes American language and culture
Please consider signing the petition to Pres-elect Obama posted by NumbersUSA. Number of signatories so far: just short of 110,000. More is better.
The gist being, that Obama has stated publicly he will act to protect American workers, and that immigration enforcement – especially as it pertains to holding jobs – is a key aspect of helping to eliminate illegal immigration.
Political correctness and bleeding heart liberals have doomed this once grat and respected nation.

I agree we need a third party, but you’ll never get enough good, upstanding citizens to form one because of all of the SHEEPLE who help put B. Hussein Obama in the Oval Office. If a good conservative third party canidate was elected, they’d lose all of their hand outs, and they certaintly don’t want that to happen.

It seems pretty obvious to me. Though President Bush has a “good heart” – he also has a “soft heart”. He wasn’t content to let congress have a worse approval rating than him. He had to give them some self esteem so he is working to lower his down to their level.
Maybe I was a little harsh there…I apologize. I did vote for the man twice (though not once in the primaries). At the risk of LOTE, looking at the alternatives to GWB, I still made the right choice. He HAS done some good things – in fact, some very good things – appointed Alito, Roberts for example.
A classic test for any decision is “how would this look if it was completely known to everybody?” That’s not to say that some things can’t or shouldn’t be kept secret, but rather that decisions should be made as if they *weren’t* secret.
This one fails that test completely.
I don’t believe that George Bush was a liar when he took the office 8 years ago, but he’s certainly learned.
He lied to us when he said our economy boomed because “foreign investors like doing business here,” and he’s lying now. These kinds of back-room deals are the worst kind of deception. They are elitist and beneath the dignity of what was once an honorable man.
I liked a lot 8 years ago, and I stood by him 4 years ago – but the last two years have been nothing but one kick in our teeth after another.

The federal gov seems to want to extend its rule into the private sector with the bailouts, but won’t protect the country by dealing with the illegals. The economy has done more to deal with the illegals than our elected officials.They all made this a non issue during the campaign.

It is so clear this election was fixed from the start. I’ve never seen anything like it. From the media bias, to the current president breaking our laws, to the opposing canidate and his staff doing everything in his power to lose the election. The whole thing smells.
I do not believe this just happened by accident. This election was ochestrated from the beginning. That’s how you get a sociliast who’s only government experience has been years of running campaigns.
I think that this is what it all has been leading up to. North American Union, open borders…. Bush is anti-American, McAmnesty is an anti-American loser, and now we have Obama… all hail Obama!
Now, the rest of the world will like us, they will really like us!

My observation is that we will lose stature in the rest of the world. We’ve become just like them. The rest of the world admired us, they were jealous of us. Not only what we had materially, but also what we stood for, and the moral compass that guided us. Now all of that is gone. (Though I have to say, it didn’t all die away just with this last election, it’s been decaying for at least the past 50 years).

I think most of the people of the world (NOT the governments) looked up to us as a idea of “what could be” for them. As much as their own governments told them to hate us, deep down, they cheered for us. Make no mistake. We ARE wounded, but not dead.

This is why today’s Republican Party can no longer call itself the party of the rule of law, fiscal responsibility, or working for the everyday (Real) American.
Did any news source ever follow-up on what happened to Obama’s uncle, the one that the UK newspaper was searching for in the first place when they stumbled on the Aunt? If not and he still may be here, I’d like the conservative blogs to start putting up headlines about “Where’s Uncle So and So.”
#33, I am with you on this. I know it’s paranoid and it doesn’t make sense at all, but I’m really starting to think this is what the RNC or some other Republican powers-that-be wanted. It’s getting harder and harder for me to think there’s no “bi-partisan” conspiracy going on.
I think McCain was put up there because they knew he’d probably lose. I think they wanted him to pick Palin because they felt she was weaker than his other options. Then when they realized how pumped up the base was for her and McCain started gaining in the polls, the Repub elites starting tearing her down trying to at least dampen the enthusiasm if they couldn’t outright destroy it.
I really think Bush, McCain and other folks at the top of the party really wanted Obama to win. I just don’t understand why? Maybe they’re really socialists too but just didn’t have the guts to take a hard stance in that direction themselves, so they’re letting Obama do the dirty work.

I would like to know why her asylum request was denied. Given all the people who are allowed to stay, I can’t imagine why they would force her to leave. It bothers me that she is avoiding her deportation order, but I wonder if she was deported because of some out of control bureaucracy.
I met a guy in Mexico earlier this year who spoke perfect english. He said he grew up in LA and was trying to get back. His parents brought him to the US illegally when he was 3. As he put it, he “never got his paperwork done.” He went to Mexico on vacation, but immigration wouldn’t let him back into the US. He was a nice guy, had a cheery attitude, was working hard, he seemed more embarrassed than bitter, and certainly wanted to get back to the US. When I contrast him with the bitter malcontents that march in the streets or the illegal street thugs that cause SoCal residents to put bars on their widows, I think something is wrong. I don’t know enough about it to say what it is, but something in our immigration policy is out-of-whack.
Maybe Obama’s aunt needed a US citizen as a sponsor and Obama was asked to be her sponsor and turned her down. Now THAT would be a story. Maybe he didn’t want her to be too dependent on the Obama cash-flow.
I have a prediction…
By the time Obama reaches the end of his first term, you will see an “Amnesty” for the 20+ Million Illegals. And in that amnesty they will be allowed to bring thier extended family here, lets say 5 each… That adds up to 100 Million more people to take more Americans Jobs,take more Social Services, Dumb down our Education system,and Take more of our Natural Resources.
This is the catcher though :

How CORRUPT and TWISTED can our Goverment get?
Once again, another “do-good” republican accepted the race bait and handed the libs a big win.
And so, we take yet another one in the shorts.
The freeze was to allow any votes by illegals to be cast. Bush, like McCain actually believe the illegal vote is going to go to the republican candidate.
I knew “Georgie” from TX. He was famous there as “The Great Compromiser” who enabled the middle-right Rs and center-right Ds to work together. It should be noted that during GWB’s election for President the TX Democrats were noticed by the DNC as center-right, and they burned some ground to bring it more into Lefty-alignment with the rest of the Democrat party.
That said, I’ll say what I said during GWB’s 1st election: all his compromses were on the Democrat side. Since Rush had said, on his show, that GWB “has conservative instincts”, I figured I should give GWB a chance, and voted for him. I wasn’t going to let myself get Gored, but I thought about voting 3rd party until Rush convinced me I might have been unfairly critical of GWB. The 2nd term was straight LOTE vote. I also promised myself not to listen to anyone else again, but trust my own research. That’s why I held out until after the convention to decide to vote for Palin.
Now, I seem vindicated, since McDud threw the election and is now trying to McKneecap(tm) Sarah’s political future, as his McKneecap & Trade(tm) will do for our economy after Pres. BodyOdor adopts it.
And so, DC politics rolls on over the masses. The only thing that will clean up the mess is a honey wagon on steroids.
File a FOIA request for information, if it isn’t filed under a National Security stamp it should be available…I’d do it through an attorney though….
I am guessing a President Obama will finish President Bush’s Open Borders-all criminals welcome-policy with a 21st Century Emancipation Proclamation “Let us put this divisive issue behind behind us-everybody here now is welcome and on a fast track to citizenship”. A fast track to citizenship in time for the 2010 elections. With Reid and Pelosi in charge of Congress it is doable.

No jobs, no welfare/entitlements, no anchor babies, no hope of citizenship and they will have no reason to come or stay illegally. Those here will self deport over time. But alas, the dems (who are apparently infinitely more intelligent than the repub leaders) know that continued mass immigration from 3rd world countries cements their power grip. These immigratns are natural fits for the “gimme” PC liberal dem party. Each election cycle means more voters for the dems, while the repub party market share declines. I’ve always had difficulty understanding Bush’s aversion to deporting illegal aliens until I ran across this: Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America which sheds a lot of light on the subject.
Bush has stretched the borders of the United States to include Mexico and Canada and effectually ended United States sovereignty without the approval of congress or the US citizens.
Seems as though there should be some kind of treason in there somewhere.
WearyCitizen (#59) really gets it right. The Border Patrol / ICE has arrested people from over 80 countries. Hundreds of millions more poor / uneducated / radical “undocumented immigrants” (aka ILLEGAL ALIENS) from all over the world will continue to flood our country after the 12? million illegals and their 78? million extended family members are given amnesty / citizenship. Legal Hispanic, Black, and Oriental Americans delude themselves thinking that only their groups will come here–many from India, jihadists from Muslim countries, etc. will come also–and will take their / our jobs.
Our country will start to look like third (or fourth) world countries all over the world–no work, no economy, failure of Social Security / Medicare / Medicaid, the rule of the AK-47 instead of the rule of law. I and my legal Mexican immigrant wife (U.S. Citizen now) and her legal immigrant family members were stupid–we paid money, followed the laws, and waited to become American Citizens.
Be careful what you wish for–you may just get it.

Regarding the future of this country as becoming “Third World”…Have you been to Detroit lately? Or some areas in Chicago? Or, more closely to my home…North Minneapolis? That is very close to Third World living, except those folks can get welfare and don’t have to starve. I live in a suburb of Minneapolis. When I was 8 years old, our family moved into a beautiful, new suburb called Richfield. It was safe and peaceful. Now, I won’t even go near the place. The druggies, gangs, etc. have already taken over much of it. I live in a suburb further south of there, but already, parts of it are being infiltrated. If you go to some restaurants, you are practically the only whites in the place. If this sounds biggoted, I’m sorry. But when the blacks and other minorities moved in, the homes became run-down, the yards were trashed, gangs and drugs took over. That is not a racist attitude…it is simply stating FACT. Many of these people are here illegally and no one does a thing about it. We just move further south to “get away” from it. It is no wonder we become bitter and cling to our guns. It is called “self defense”. Get used to it because our “government” will NOT help us. Especially a government RUN BY A MAN WHO KNEW HIS AUNT WAS HERE ILLEGALLY, AND AIDED AND ABETTED THE CRIME. He is a criminal too.

When does Bush do his Presidential Pardons???? If those two are not included, we need to speak up LOUD and CLEAR. This had been a complete travesty of justice from the beginning, but if Bush does not pardon those two, there needs to be demonstrations everywhere and in huge numbers.
Interesting isn’t it, that two border agents doing thier job to protect this country, are imprisoned. But the President-Elect of our country aids and abets an illegal alien and still gets elected to lead this country. How bizarre is that???

the republicans are obviously toast (and rightfully should be) so would conservatives ever consider an alliance with Libertarians or Constitution Party-ists (whatever). I know Libertarians can be a bit kooky but after reading the website of the Constitution Party it seems that Conservatives have more in common with them than Republicans.
BTW- here’s something worth a couple of tinfoil hats… a classmate of mine who’s family lives in Mex. is completely freaking out about the Amero b/c she said that according to her family the mex gov’t has been preparing their people for the Amero to come out in possibly Feb. The problem with forming a third party is that the whole voting system would be screwed up. Third parties never get elected. Of course, the voting system is screwed anyway thanks to Obama and his ACORN buddies. Perhaps, though, the democrat party would be the left-wing liberals, the republican party would be the centrists and the third party would be the conservatives. Who would win?? Who knows?
