Looks like Catherine got a taste of “tolerance” and “free speech” the way that the libs like to espouse….
“Diversity isn’t diversity if it doesn’t include Christians and conservatives. Tolerance isn’t tolerance if it doesn’t include the people you disagree with.”
Sounds like some young minds might have learned something from a very brave young lady.
This type of stuff discourages me more than anything. What this little girl did brought to light the truth of the matter, all the while the left will refuse to see it but claim the country is unified. You can’t fix what you won’t acknowledge.

I was listening to Rush yesterday while a black man asked him why did he want to “hate” all the time. The black guy said “we all” just want to get along..now. Riiighhtt.. It’s more like, we hated on Bush and all conservatives but now that D’ohbama is in, please be nice to him cause we all want to get along.

I expect we’ll get plenty of practice in being on the outside in the coming years. But why do I get the feeling that the “room for diversity” has bars on the window and doors?
Unfortunately, her experiment turned out exactly as I expected. I had a McCain-Palin sticker on my car and had a few negative comments sent my way, but a few of the staff in the building can wear Obama shirts and they are fawned over.
From the mouths of babes… at least we’ve confirmed where the nutroot loons learn their trade (as if we didn’t know already)…

That little girl has more courage and guts than David Brooks, Peggy Noonan, Kathleen Parker, Ross Douthat, and David Frum combined.
Admittedly though, that’s a pretty low bar.

They called her dumb and stupid for supporting McCain, and should be burned with her shirt on for being a “filthy rich Republican”.
Well, if Republicans were so dumb and stupid, how did they become so filthy rich?

What a wonderful idea. This should be done in every school.
But alas, those inclusive creeds of the Left wouldn’t allow it to showcase their shortcomings.
My hope is her classmates learned a very valuable lesson.
I love it! The teacher was only embarrassed when she found out it was an experiment and that the student was recording the reactions.
She has learned that liberals wear their “tolerance” and “inclusion” on their shirt sleeve.
She learned more about politics and culture in this one class than she will learn in college. In fact, she could teach a course. We’ll call it Introduction to Liberalism and Tolerance.

Whatever young Catherine has, we need to bottle it and force-feed it to all of our political leaders.
My hat is off to this young lady and her teacher and parents. This is the kind of education that public schools should be teaching. Critical thinking is disappearing rapidly.
That reminds me… isn’t “Animal Farm” required reading anymore? Or is 8th grade too early? She just learned that all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Those children in Catherine Vogt’s school probably learned more of substance as a result of her experiment than they will learn all year.

I love this kid. She exposed the liberal mind for what it is – intolerant. Oh, sure, they support gays (unless they happen to be Republicans). Oh, sure, they support minorities (unless they happen to be Republicans). They really, really support the troops (unless they happen to be voting).
What a great social experiment to expose another lie. It also exposes the early stage of brainwashing that goes on in our public schools. You cannot tell me (with a straight face) these kids understand the issues. Even Howard Stern proved adults do not care about the issues. One of my favorite store owners voted for Obingo (thanks Bear) because, “he could talk good.”

Someone I work with was talking to his office mate about how depressed he was that McCain lost and why he felt Obama would make a bad president and a co-worker irritably piped up, “Why don’t you go put your Klan robes on.” He wasn’t joking.
At least people are starting to see liberals as they really are – facists. Or at least I hope so.

I have mentioned this before… Republicans have been tacking to the left for a long time now. The idea is, “We need to move to the middle to attract more votes.”
But what actually is happening is that we are raising generations of adults that have NO IDEA what conservatism even means… they see the Republican presidential candidate wanting to have open borders and amnesty for lawbreakers.
HOW can we expect to have conservative principles be respected when we keep putting out the idea that conservative principles mean things like open borders.

Agreed. Didn’t Reagan talk/warn/write about this quite frequently? And wasn’t he elected when it was clear that wasteful government spending, entitlement programs, high taxes, overregulation and military weakness would be the demise of the country? Those principles are no less true now than they were then.
How quickly people forget. Hopefully the next 4/8 years will help us all “remember.”
In other words, conservatives must lead. It has to start from the ground up, or it will never take. We might win a battle, or even a temporary respite, but we’ll revisit this battle again and again until we do it “the hard way”, i.e. correctly.

I think the real significance of this story is that it demonstrates how thoroughly brainwashed our children are in liberal political ideology before they’ve even reached high school.

Puh’leez. If you’re gonna make asinine blanket statements, provide examples-links. I too, sir, live in a red state, or it was until all them dang blue-belly Yankee carpet-baggers showed up with their high falutin’ ways.
Someone asked if “Animal Farm” is required reading still. I don’t think so. It’s been banned to the outer reaches of the political and racial hinterlands along with “Little Black Sambo”, Uncle Remus’ stories, Amos and Andy comedy shows, and before long, the Bible.
Many of the smarter children who so blindly follow their parent’s policital leanings now will eventually grow up and become “rich” Republicans. Look at all the Hippies of the 60s. The majority moved over to the comfortable side when they realized their rebellion was getting them nowhere – except of William Ayers and his ilk.
I lived Catherine’s experiment for 9 years in Chicago. The fact that I was breathing annoyed my neighbors. Their idea of a good time was to be more irresponsible than the average teenager. The one benefit was that I had an easier time raising children. My children chose to behave well because the alternative just looked too disgusting.
Oh I love that! Catherine wears a McCain t-shirt and her teacher says “I won’t judge you but I am surprised.” We should put that on a plaque in the Diantha Harris Wing of our Educational System Hall of Fame. Our public educators really do like to otherize when it suits them, now don’t they?
I saw this sort of thing play out where I go to school. I’m a married mom of 4 and am a full time college student. The one person in my class who wore a McCain shirt was harassed to the nth degree. Really horrible things were said to him, and to me when I couldn’t hold back and tell them what I thought of their “messiah”. But when someone wore an Obama shirt, it was either never mentioned or they got kudos. Not a single time did I or anyone else attack someone for their choice of shirt. Double standards abound, ladies and gentlemen. Liberals get one set of rules, everyone else has a narrower standard.
Music, my major, is not exactly an enclave of conservative, but I’ve been blessed to have my favorite music theory teacher and my voice teacher- who are both conservatives. They are both unbelieveably talented and have great professional careers besides teaching at the college level. Both have warned me of the challenges I will face as a performer and teacher, especially as a classical opera singer. It is the kind of behavior that we saw in Catherine’s experiment that I will come up against.
I say bring it on- I’m not ashamed of my beliefs and can articulate them at will. Not the same could be said of the dolts I have to go to class with
every day- when I asked them what “change” meant in regards to Obama’s plan, I got nothing but anti Bush screams and blank stares.
America’s future scares me.

My life is dedicated to combatting ideological bigotry. Here are 2 examples in the last 24 hours.
1)I attended a Jewish event last night featuring a stellar debate between Rabbi David Wolpe and Christopher Hitchens about God.
The moderator at the beginning announced that proof of God’s existence could be found from November 4th. The crowd applauded wildly, reminding me why I support euthanasia.
2) I sent a polite note to somebody asking them to check out my blog. The response was hostile. They wrote, among other things:
“I’m a liberal who likes funny things, and therefore have no use for you.”
I responded as follows:
“You just contradicted yourself. You cannot be a liberal and like things that are funny. Unless of course by funny you mean smug, condescending people that agree with you.
I sent you a polite note, and you sent me a hostile response. I will take you off the list, but insults really are not necessary. Oh I forgot…when liberals say “let’s unify and come together,” they mean with each other.
I will absolutely take you off the list, depriving you of reading my quality interviews with Juan Williams, Donna Brazile, and Howard Wolfson.
I shall leave you to your ideological bigotry.
Stay tolerant my brother!

P.S. Michelle, on an unrelated note, today I published my interview with Bob Barr. I hope you and my readers enjoy it.
iamsaved, a friend of mine @ church told me that her middle-school-aged son was to use the Koran in the school library for a unit on Muslims. He asked the librarian where the copy of the Bible was, and was told, “We aren’t allowed to have the Bible here. This is a public school.” When asked why the Koran, he was told that it was OK to be in the school’s library b/c it was “part of the curriculum.”
This just happened recently…shows a continued lack of understanding and unwillingness among our “educators” to confront liberal forces of darkness.

When you throw that crapola back at them they typically see how foolish they sound and shut up.
I can’t tell you how many time when I was an LEO in S. California I heard “You jus doin this cause I’m black!”
And I would typically respond “You’re right it’s because you are black!” Then I would let there be a nice pregnant pause while they absorbed what I had just said and I enjoyed that deer in the headlights look. Then I would say something like “Well, that and the crack/coke/herione/weed I just pulled out of your pocket”
Never caught a beef about that either.
Why is it leftists can never EVER denounce bad behavior among their compatriots. When you point out something despicable a leftist has done, their knee-jerk response is always “Your side does it too.”
There is no basic decency on the left. None.

I am shocked at the intolerance of school kids across the country. This is the THIRD time I’ve heard of schoolkids getting knocked around for supporting McCain (or wearing a T-shirt for him). If this is the state of public education, we are screwed!

I could have saved her money: Read the comments on websites like Hot Air or Michelle Malkin and compare to the comments on sites like Daily Kos.
I was so optimistic for this country during RWR’s tenure. The Bushes were a complete disaster, erasing almost everything accomplished by that great man, not only for conservatives but for the country as a whole. It makes my blood boil to even think about it.
I graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in 2004. Lemme tell you, it sounds like the kids have become a lot less “tolerant” since I went there. I went from middle of 4th grade all they way through high school in Oak Park and either the kids were not interested in politics or mostly liberal (but not crazy liberals like the kids in this article). In high school we were taught to respect eveyone’s opinion. I guess I was lucky because I must have had moderate teachers…the only thing I hated was that in our text books and some classroom discussions in junior high (now Percy Julian middle school) we were brainwashed into believing that support of Israel was ludicrous and that we should have supported the surrounding Arab states on the false logic that because they were the most numerous in the region. If that logic was followed we would have supported the Germans twice in the two world wars.
You forgot an important distinction, Anton. At Kos you have a multitude of kooks who are given official blogs to regularly spew their psychotic, sick ventings. (Though certainly other sick invididuals do lend their lunatic “amens” to such blogs via comments).
At any rate, there is a diff between sanctioned blogs and people venting in a comments section.

This experiment proves that what is happening in colleges all over the country, has been happening in all schools as well.
Excuse me, JAS, but if she would have worn a Barry Manilow t-shirt, they would have just laughed at her. Maybe called her stupid but would NOT have called for her to be crucified. This can be borne out by her classmate’s FEAR when she had to whisper her support for the McCain t-shirt.
This is what happens when intolerant liberals are in positions to influence young minds.

That’s when I read it the first time. Sadly my kids (all grown now) didn’t have to read it in school, they read it as a summer project assigned by dad.
Should be required reading for everyone in America.
I conducted a similar experiment (though inadvertently) in 2004 by wearing a W04 button at the antique show I was working. My husband warned me not to.
I’m in a red state and was naïve not to realize the venom it would attract. Who knew so many antique dealers were liberal and hateful? Not me. Dirty looks, eye-rolling and Bush-bashing comments all day long.
But the most revealing thing was the people who pulled me aside and quietly said they supported W too. For the last four years, I still talk discreetly with these same people. Some are now really good friends. And some of the “others” still sneer at me when we pass. It used to bother me, but now I just chuckle. I pity them.
Though I wish I had never worn my button, I did learn a lot. One lesson being that my husband is very often right.

You know, the libs have beat tolerance into the ground over last couple of decades. But I never remember this kind of devisiveness and aggressiveness over elections when I was kid in the 60’s and 70’s. Now it is becoming more and more common place and will likely become worse in the future. I firmly believe this is just one more example of our move toward 3rd world status. Where riots and violence will erupt after elections as part of the power struggle. You see this in many 3rd world countries where there is not brutal dictatorial control over the masses. IMHO, this is the direct result of diversity at all costs agenda brought on by mass immigration from all over the world. A society must be fairly homogeneous and have a common bond and culture if it is to mainatin civility and peace. Once there is no longer a majority that can maintain it’s law and order and sense of society, a power struggle will enuse between the various groups. When the white population ceases to be the absolute majority in the next 40-50 years, things will get ugly and fast.
I also notice that it is the libs that overwhelmingly display this kind of behavior towards their opposition. The old “ve vill not tolerate intolerance” comes to mind with these hypocrites. The melting pot has quickly become a boiling pot ready to explode.
Hats off to young Catherine. We need more brave young people like her. It takes a lot more guts to do what’s right vs what’s popular. She probably knew going in that she’d get grief and she did it anyway. I suspect several years ago, a young “barracuda” probably faced similar situations. Where can I get a “Don’t blame me, I voted for McCain” sticker?
Another Catherine will try that experiment. Then another and another and another……
She may have just started the counter revolution.

What a great illustration of the indoctrination of our youth starting in grade school, as well as the hypocracy of the bitter left. What happened in her school happens with adult left wing nutcases as well.These people are emotionally retarded, with a mean streak unlike any other people around.
Congrates young lady job well done…we, us conservatives, see the difference, but I seriously doubt most of the kool aide drinkers do. I clap for the imagination and efforts, the young lady showed and the courage, she had to have an idea of the pressures, abuse that she no doubt would see.
Her parents have to be very proud of her work, even the lefty mom, curious how she took it all. Was she able to see the difference before she voted for Odumbo
