School supplies fake Social Security numbers to teachers
Yes, you read that right. A school district in Dallas has been caught supplying fake Social Security numbers to employees. And it’s been going on for years. The Dallas News won’t come out and say it, but it’s blindingly obvious this school district was cooking up fake Social Security numbers for illegal alien teachers (referred to in the report as “foreign educators”). Which means they committed at least three crimes: ID fraud, hiring illegal aliens, and felonious aiding/abetting illegal aliens.
And then they tried to cover it up.
Years after being advised by a state agency to stop, the Dallas Independent School District continued to provide foreign citizens with fake Social Security numbers to get them on the payroll quickly.
Also OnlineSome of the numbers were real Social Security numbers already assigned to people elsewhere. And in some cases, the state’s educator certification office unknowingly used the bogus numbers to run criminal background checks on the new hires, most of whom were brought in to teach bilingual classes.
The practice was described in an internal report issued in September by the district’s investigative office, which looked into the matter after receiving a tip. The report said the Texas Education Agency learned of the fake numbers in 2004 and told DISD then that the practice “was illegal.”
It’s unclear how long DISD had been issuing the phony numbers, and district officials didn’t know Thursday how many had been given out. But the investigative report and interviews with DISD employees indicate the practice went on for several years before it was discontinued this past summer.
DISD human resources chief Kim Olson, who came to the district in 2007, said that she learned about the false numbers this past summer around the time the district’s investigative unit was looking into them and that she put a stop to the practice.
“There’s no way we should be doing that kind of stuff,” Ms. Olson said. “Even if your intention is good to help employees get paid, you can’t use inappropriate procedures to do that.”

Also, when investigators reviewed a sampling of personnel files, they learned that the fake numbers were entered on Department of Homeland Security and IRS forms. The forms are not transmitted outside the district but are made available to the appropriate federal agency upon request.
In July, the district discovered that 26 of the false numbers were in use after matching DISD employee Social Security numbers with the Social Security Administration database. The numbers were already being used in Pennsylvania. DISD officials did not know Thursday whether the practice had caused problems for anyone holding the legitimate numbers.
The district’s investigative unit, called the Office of Professional Responsibility, began looking into the fake numbers after the Texas Education Agency’s division of educator investigations advised the unit in July that it had discovered the district issuing false numbers in 2004.
That year, the TEA division became aware of the practice when DISD faxed copies of about 100 new Social Security Administration cards for foreign citizens – most of whom had been assigned district-issued numbers – and asked TEA to replace the old numbers, according to the investigative report. The state office told DISD at the time that it’s illegal to make up Social Security numbers and pass them off as legitimate, the report says.
Wait, it gets even worse:
The investigative report also found that the district hasn’t been turning in “new hire” forms to the Texas attorney general’s office, which uses the information to find parents who haven’t paid child support. Failure to provide the forms to the attorney general can result in a $25 fine for each employee. The district doesn’t know yet whether it will have to pay any fines.
Ms. Olson said new processes have been put in place to address problems noted in the report, including making crosschecks with the Social Security Administration.
“You can’t just arbitrarily issue Social Security numbers,” she said. “Even if your intention is good, it’s not legal.”
So, will there be any consequences? Or will it be non-enforcement business as usual?

This investigation needs to go a little deeper. So after these illegal aliens (yep, come and get me PC police!) got their fake SS cards, don’t you just know that they went down to the DMV and got a driver’s license! Here is a blueprint on how he might just do that and get away with it. An individual or individuals assassinate a couple supreme court justices (conservative ones of course). Obama ostensibly knows nothing about it. They are caught, tried, and convicted and sent to federal prison. Obama issues a presidential pardon and an executive order making the pardon (and the EO) secret, and orders the justice department to transfer them into the witness protection program and give them new identities and tell the public (if anyone asks) that they were killed in a prison fight/riot. Then he has an opening to stack the court any way he likes.

And they ran background checks on these ‘employees’ how? Are those checks against fingerprints or SS numbers? How do they verify their educational backgrounds and qualifications? There is so much more to this story and it is not going to be pretty. How comforting it must be for a parent to realize their child could be sitting in a classroom with a serial killer or child molester.
The best thing that could ever happen for the children of Dallas would be for the state to step in, take over the DISD, and summarily fire every administrator and principal in the district.

Texas is set up with independent school districts and they operate with impunity. Dallas is one of the worst. It’s routine to have the FBI march in and confiscate records and computers on members of the school board. I just wrote a healthy check to the ISD in an outlying area where we have a place and feel like it would have been better served by stuffing it down the garbage disposal. But, to suggest that people refuse to employ or patronize businesses that employ illegals you get a look of complete consternation. They can’t imagine life without cheap labor.
Never happen. The 17th amendment has made it impossible. US Senators are supposed to represent the entire state but are just representatives-at-large for the biggest urban areas in the state. In CA, Los Angeles just gets two extra reps, because if you win in LA, you win the whole enchalada. (Pun intended.)
The 17th amendement has to go. US Senators should be chosen by county. Each county gets one vote. If you win the popular vote in a county, you get that county’s one vote. Win the majority of counties, you win. You can’t use US Representative districts; counties would cross district lines and make a for more un-biased election.
This way, US Senator wanna-be’s would actually have to campaign in every county. Would this make a difference? You bet! In CA, Los Angeles county would have the same influence as Modoc county. They’re all just 1.
Can you imagine Barbara Boxer trying to sell her socialist snake oil to 500 rural voters in a tri-county grange hall?

Two points:
First, it appears the Dallas Independent School District’s central office is misinterpreting the “INDEPENDENT” in their system’s name. FYI, Dallas Indy, the term “Independent” merely denotes that your system is separate from that of Dallas County – not the United States and its laws.
Second, Leona Helsmley and Martha Stewart served time for far less flagrant disregard of our laws than this – federal investigations and removals from office are definitely in order.
This will be enforced the same way Obama’s illegal campaign contributions from foreigners and “over the limit” donations was enforced.
I wonder sometimes why we even have half the laws we do since they are selectively enforced anyway.

As already stated the jokes on us. Do you remember how, exactly, he was elected to both the state and US senates? He had his opponents eliminated so he could run unopposed. They were not “eliminated” as in the old mob tactics but were instead slandered and attacked viciously. Remember where he comes from and who his close circle is. Many of the border states are hiring ‘foreign workers’ to teach bilingual classes and if it’s this blatant in TX then I’m betting checks in CA, AZ, NM, and FL are in order. Believe me, the people in charge of hiring those illegals in TX did not come up with this scheme out of nowhere – it most surely is common practice throughout the various states.

I live north of Dallas and every few months there is a new scandal involving corruption of some kind in either the DISD or city government. I would never, ever live in Dallas. That city elects the worst among them to run things. One month it is city councilmen taking bribes or something, this about the school district, or it’s city or DISD employees charging big, big personal purchases on city or DISD credit cards. Dallas government is an abomination. –just my opinion

I get ill thinking about W moving back to TX in January. We’ll take Laura but W really needs to find a new home. In his 8 yrs. in office this country is no longer recognizable. I like the way a few weeks ago Dallas ISD fired 375 teachers, but a week later had 60 job openings for bilingual and math teachers.

There was a recent story about teachers and staff being told they either needed to learn spanish or find another profession. Can’t remember where I saw that but in CA years ago teachers were getting the ultimatum of either learning another language or moving on.

This is how $15-20 starting jobs (1980-1990s) in Arkansas chicken plants went to $8-10 hour jobs by the turn of the century. They laid off Americans and subplanted with illegals…which is why whole counties in NW Ark have gone in one decade from 1%< percent hispanic demographics to near 70% in some.

I don’t know if he was or not… but probably. I believe he is also one of the councilmen who have been charged with corruption… still there. There likely is no hope for Dallas. They are also being worked over in Dallas and probably will be sued by mostly illegal aliens to name a major thoroughfare after Cesar Chavez (sp?). Just a day or two ago on TV one of them said that the Latinos would consider it a big slap in the face if this doesn’t happen. Too bad. They also don’t care about the number of companies and the expenses they would have changing all their stuff to reflect a new street name. Some of the buildings/skyscrapers even have the street name engraved on the building. That would have to be changed too. Who cares… must honor Cesar.

My father is a Mexican-American. His family migrated legally into the states back at the turn of the last century. This stuff p*sses him off as much as it does me. Our family is made up on self-motivated, push-to-get-ahead types that do everything legally (Dad was a Chief of Police). The whole illegal immigration thing is such a disgusting shame.
I understand employers want to reduce labor costs, but not at the expense of our country. We should pass on all costs (medical, etc) to these employers anyways. If there were some legal mechanism…

Its kind of odd when illegal aliens want to use Cesar Chavez as a hero of their movement when Chavez was citizen and often worked against illegal farm workers, even going so far as to march on the border to keep illegal farm workers out.
cabrerski #87 – my sister in law is also from a family that has been in the U.S. since 1850 or so. She refuses to speak spanish to any she considers might be illegal and never taught her own children to speak it. Now, they are assumed to be bilingual when applying for jobs in CA.
I’m with you on passing on the true costs of used benefits to employers that have created a slave class that in a civilized world would land them in jail.
I don’t have and never have had a problem with immigrants to the USA. Most of us, after all, have ancestors who immigrated here. I do have a problem with illegals. They take jobs, they drive up health care costs, they are bringing diseases into the country that we previously didn’t have to worry about anymore. The gangs and criminals come here for easy pickings. I blame most of the economic problems on illegals and the politicians and others who support them.

If you read the entire article linked, these were not illegal aliens. These were people on visas.
ID fraud, yes. Highly illegal, yes. But it’s not an issue of illegal immigration.
Violating the terms of a visa – be it work, tourist, student – *is* illegal, and thus, fits perfectly well into the realm of “illegal immigration”. As such, each and every visa granted should be revoked and said individuals sent back to their country of origin.
The Americans that aided and abetted in this criminal activity should suffer the full weight of US Federal Law upon them.
