The rabid anti-Prop. 8 mob demands total submission

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 14, 2008 11:49 AM

You must read this. Read the whole thing. Make sure you get to this part:

The mainstream media have so far failed to get across the intensity of the ordeal that supporters of Prop 8 may now be subject to–something I realized on coming across this extraordinary blog account of a meeting at the legendary restaurant El Coyote in Hollywood, not far from where I grew up in Laurel Canyon. The meeting was between the elderly Mormon owner, who donated $100 to support Prop 8, and Prop 8 opponents, who are threatening a boycott, and it is as soul- grinding as something out of Soviet show trial history.

Yoo-hoo. Soul-fixer. Hello?

Maybe the El Coyote owner ought to simply tell the boycotters that any loss of business will make it necessary for her to start laying off employees. Then do it. It’s like a hostage crisis. Instead of shooting them one at a time, you lay them off one at a time, complete with media coverage of the poor people crying and lamenting their plight, and blaming the boycotters. They can boycott all they want. But the more business I lose, the more people get hurt through layoffs CAUSED by the boycotters. Then maybe the public tide will turn against the blacklisting/publicly outting/crazy liberal boycotters.

Why are these folks not boycotting, harrassing, vandalizing, or expressing these to Muslims or their businesses?

Did they not also vote for Prop 8 as well?

What about Baptist Churches (many of them with very high percentages of African American congregations) - who overwhelmingly voted for Prop 8?

Both groups (aside from Catholics and Mormons) came out in droves the SAME way?

Has their been any inquisition on their donations?

    Where is the Outrage there?

So the only groups of people then that are being persecuted for their religious beliefs and financially castrated are the white christians?

    Is that not discrimintory?

Fifty-two percent of Kalifornia voters supported Prop 8. Some of those voters should put their money where their mouths are and go have a meal (and maybe a cocktail) at El Coyote.

Just because some pissed off individuals want to boycott the place, doesn’t mean the business doomed to fail. This lady needs support, and I’m sure she’d appreciate the business.

When people start making the argument and deciding who is more deserving a group over someone else it is a FAILING and oppressive philosophy every time.

Remember, AA and Native Americans and WOMEN, were considered less than deserving of equal rights as well…

There is NO logic to their arguments.

Secularly speaking, the Gays should be pissed off at themselves and their “PR” folks for pushing the religious component of this agenda so heavily.

They want a tax break. Once they started the religion bashing and intolerance it was ALL OVER.

Once they started equating this movement with the Civil Rights and Women’s Rights movements they lost A LOT of people that otherwise would have just probably not cared one way or another.

This is a secular argument of course.

Non secular argument. If same sex marriages HAVE to be recognized by religions and if it is their beliefs that they will not….civil lawsuits and tax exemption status revocation will make freedom to practice religion NON EXISTANT.

I would imagine that only the Catholics, Jews and the Mormons will be the ones singled out for lawsuits, tax audits, tax exemption status review…NOT Muslims or Baptists, or Lutherans etc…

If they want to boycott FINE, let them have their rights. But if they think for ONE moment I don’t see the discriminatory practices that are being undercut by the media, they are dead wrong.

They are ruining people financially based on discriminitory practices. PERIOD.

WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

“Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded,” says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.” “Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.”

While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to “the vast right-wing conspiracy.”

For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.

Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by both Barack Obama and his Democratic primary opponent Hillary Clinton can only be understood as a psychological disorder.

“A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do,” he says. “A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation’s citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do.”

Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:

    creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
    satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;

    augmenting primitive feelings of envy;

rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”

Here’s an article written by Catholics to defend Mormons: http://www.article6blog.com/2008/11/06/what-a-long-strange-trip-its-been/

Here are the facts about the involvement of Mormons in support of the marriage protection amendment to the CA constitution:

    1. Mormons make up less than 2% of the population of California. There are approximately 800,000 LDS out of a total population of approximately 34 million.

    2. Mormon voters were less than 5% of the yes vote. If one estimates that 250,000 LDS are registered voters (the rest being children), then LDS voters made up 4.6% of the Yes vote and 2.4% of the total Proposition 8 vote.

    3. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) donated no money to the Yes on 8 campaign. Individual members of the Church were encouraged to support the Yes on 8 efforts and, exercising their constitutional right to free speech, donated whatever they felt like donating.

    4. The No on 8 campaign raised more money than the Yes on 8 campaign. Unofficial estimates put No on 8 at $38 million and Yes on 8 at $32 million, making it the most expensive non-presidential election in the country.

    5. Advertising messages for the Yes on 8 campaign are based on case law and real-life situations. The No on 8 supporters have insisted that the Yes on 8 messaging is based on lies. Every Yes on 8 claim is supported.

    6. The majority of our friends and neighbors voted Yes on 8. Los Angeles County voted in favor of Yes on 8. Ventura County voted in favor of Yes on 8.

    7. African Americans overwhelmingly supported Yes on 8. Exit polls show that 70% of Black voters chose Yes on 8. This was interesting because the majority of these voters voted for President-elect Obama. No on 8 supporters had assumed that Obama voters would vote No on 8.

    8. The majority of Latino voters voted Yes on 8. Exit polls show that the majority of Latinos supported Yes on 8 and cited religious beliefs (assumed to be primarily Catholic).

    9. The Yes on 8 coalition was a broad spectrum of religious organizations. Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox Jews, Muslims – all supported Yes on 8. It is estimated that there are 10 million Catholics and 10 million Protestants in California. Mormons were a tiny fraction of the population represented by Yes on 8 coalition members.

    10. Not all Mormons voted in favor of Proposition 8. Our faith accords that each person be allowed to choose for him or her self. Church leaders have asked members to treat other members with “civility, respect and love,” despite their differing views.

    11. The Church did not violate the principal of separation of church and state. This principle is derived from the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which reads, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion , or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . .” The phrase “separation of church and state”, which does not appear in the Constitution itself, is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, although it has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court in recent years. The LDS Church is under no obligation to refrain from participating in the political process, to the extent permitted by law. U.S. election law is very clear that Churches may not endorse candidates, but may support issues. The Church has always been very careful on this matter and occasionally (not often) chooses to support causes that it feels to be of a moral nature.

    12. Supporters of Proposition 8 did exactly what the Constitution provides for all citizens: they exercised their First Amendment rights to speak out on an issue that concerned them, make contributions to a cause that they support, and then vote in the regular electoral process. For the most part, this seems to have been done in an open, fair, and civil way. Opponents of 8 have accused supporters of being bigots, liars, and worse. The fact is, we simply did what Americans do – we spoke up, we campaigned, and we voted.

Do not give in to the Nazi Brownshirt style of thuggery that is being carried out in this state by those who are attempting to remove our First Ammendment Rights simply because they lost. We support you, and will continue to support you. Just DO NOT cave in to the terrorist actions of those that disagree, else they begin to think that such tactics work and will continue to do the same or worse

And honestly…was the gay patronage of this restaurant really so large as that they would even notice it if they were boycotted?

If the gays want to boycott all restaurants and bars with people who contributed working there…or any business for that matter…they are going to spend a great deal of time at home. I say let them boycott. Just don’t have people back down and apologize etc. for their beliefs or in voting for or donating money to this cause. It is the same with them as with any terrorist. When you give in to their terrorist style demands and actions, you are just showing them that such tactics work and thus they will continue to deal with things in the same way and grow ever more violent and vocal in the process.

Stand up to these thugs and for your beliefs folks. I am PROUD to have voted “Yes On 8″. You want to talk to me? Fine, but know this, I will call you on your thuggery if it goes there and will contiue to point out the paralells between the Neo-Libs and pre-WWII Germany.

It is that simple. Claiming that homosexual behavior is some immutable characteristic is simply wrong. It is something you do.

I don’t approve of homosexual acts and I never will. I don’t care if you do what you do in the privacy of your own home but when you bring it out onto the main street like they do at the annual Folsom Street Fair then you have crossed the line between private and public behavior and I am not going to approve of people behaving like animals on the public street.

The clear answer is “vote like we want you to vote or shut up or face the consequences!” Yeah, that is not fascism! Then again, leading Nazi Ernst Roehm was a homosexual. The shameless hypocrisy coupled with the pure irony is quite a proposition!

Just amazing how many of the trolls and wannabe trolls are actually supporting and excusing the way that these Brownshirts are carrying out their thuggery.

Come on Omu…tell ME why they are only going after the Mormon Church…which actually only put in a very VERY SMALL amount of money towards the cause and NOT the Knights of Columbus which actually lead the fight, put a great deal of money into it and even funded and produced a series of commercials on the radio in favor OF Prop. 8?

Tell you what…as I am a 3rd Degree member of KofC, why don’t you come at me personally. My money was used towards it. I had a sign in my window of my house. I actively campaigned for it. I even talked with my children about it and explained it to them to where one…the youngest…was against it, but the other two were for it. How did that happen? Because I gave them the FACTS and allowed them to decide for themselves. The youngest chose based on emotion and te other two froom the facts. Sound familiar?

So, why are they not going against the KofC? Again, why are they not going after the blacks and the Mexicans? Why are they not going after each and every Mosque? After all, if ever there was an organization or religion that was anti-gay, it is the Muslims who actively persecute homosexuals on a daily basis and have them listed on their “Must Kill” list. Just look at what happens to gays in Iran and other Muslim countries.

But you and the others just can’t do it, can you. You, like every other bully and thug, are COWARDS. You pick on the weak and weak minded and attempt to force your agendas on people. You are the lowest of the low…you and those like you.

I am completely against this last election. It has made me nauseated since I first heard the results. But if nothing else, what this has done is bring out the true nature of what it means to be a Liberal and what the true nature of the Left Wing in this country really is.

While all you Liberals are running around, pounding your chests and declaring how great you are, you are actually bringing about your own downfall and you are too arrogant, self-centered and immature to even realize that you are doing it or to know that you should have remained humble.

People are going to finally see what it is you guys are for and are about, and it will blow up in your faces like nothing in this country ever has before.

The problem with lying, is that you always must remember the lies and keep lying. You guys have already forgatten that and it has not even been a fortnight.

Obama’s America is NOT my America.

These protesters need to get a grip. They were told “no” by the citizens of the state and now they plan to “hold their breath until they turn blue.” They should all sit in the corner until they grow up and learn to live in the real world, not the world of their fantasies.

1st off “gay marriage” is 2 words, 2ndly the topic is not about “gay marriage” it’s about a small group of a minority along with their coupling(no pun intended) to a group that is anti-American, anti-free enterprise, anti-laws, terrorizing, thugs and anarchists and their inability to live in our society. Do not be misled thinking “gay marriage” is the issue any longer, these Cretans have elevated it to a higher level of discourse.

    I agree.

These irate protesters seem to have chosen their religious scapegoat very sagaciously, selecting one they knew would not strike back.

As I incoherently tried to state in my above post from last night (I was tired and had a ton of work to do on the net), these protesters are blaming the wrong people. It doesn’t matter how much money the Mormon Church put behind Prop 8, it still would not have passed had it been against the wishes of California voters.

The truth is, Californians, by and larger, do not support gay marriage. They do not want it to be law in their state, as hard as that fact may be for some gay enclaves to accept, otherwise Prop 8 would have failed resoundingly.

Something else I find confusing about these violent protesters is how, despite their use of threatened violence and outright intimidation and coercion, they appear to be the representing to the nation all of California’s gay community.

Where are the voices of reason in the gay-/Hollywood community, denouncing the downright violent and anti-religious acts of these Prop 8 protesters? Don’t they realize that by continuing to remain silent on this issue, they risk allowing these protesters to destroy, in the heat of dissent, the modicum of acceptance into America’s mainstream that has taken many responsible gay groups over two decades to achieve?
