Anti-Prop. 8 protest watch

The opponents of Proposition 8, the traditional marriage initiative that passed 52-48 in California, are holding a nationwide protest today. Will they control themselves? Or will we see more blacklisting, harassment, and intimidation?

Prop. 8 supporters want to know — as I’ve wondered – where the soul-fixers and healers are:

Palmdale resident James Jackson, a member of the Church of Latter-day Saints who gave $1,000 to the Proposition 8 campaign, said he felt that the good works of his church had been forgotten in the midst of attention on the protests about the vote.

“I’m not a bigot,” said Jackson, 48. “I want to be a good person. But there are certain things I just don’t believe are right.”

Proposition 8 backers also criticized elected officials, including Schwarzenegger, for not condemning what they said were acts of vandalism and boycotts against supporters.

“Where is Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger?” Schubert asked. “Where is Sen. Dianne Feinstein? Where are the people who represent us, no matter their position on Proposition 8, to stand up for the rights of the millions of Californians who have done the one thing we ask and teach our children, which is to participate in the democratic process?”

    If gays are more promiscuous, don’t tell Charlie Sheen, Madonna, or guys in urban contemporary neighborhoods with many “baby mamas”. Welfare queens didn’t get that way by staying chaste. Government welfare policies encouraged them. Abortion clinics in poor neghiborhoods and free condoms in high schools also encourage promiscuity among hetersexuals.

    There’s enough promiscuity to go around both sides. Gays get the blame though because of the moonbat fringe gays who insist on exhibitionism.

    I went and checked out the pictures. I think the top one is absolutely hilarious, not for the main subject, but the woman standing under the stop light and pointing.

    Direct democracy was not what the founders wanted. Schwarzenegger is straddling both sides of the issues in public since it is the only way he can ask for calm– he cannot act until major violence erupts. When people forced through direct democracy in the late 19th century, they lost the power to remain hidden and quietly enter voting booths to “vote the bums out.” Legislators and journalists were once the main target, but not now.     Direct democracy was called “pure” democracy in the past.     I was hammered by a Mormon from this sight. They do NOT leave a valid email for rebuttal. It is sad really because arguing with them is not going to make a difference. No matter how much you point out the false prophecies and the lack of evidence (moon not populated according to Joseph Smith), they will not budge from their evidence is works.

    It is old but he will not get a valid email address.

    As for Prop 8, a judge will overturn it again so all of this noise is for not. I used to think only a man and woman could procreate but there seem to be more and more gays every year. Must be the water? Really, it is the perversion of a sect of people who force their beliefs as normal on the society that knows better. 1 man + 1 woman = marriage. It is the formula that has worked from the beginning of time. If evolution were true, there would be no gays as they could not reproduce and the “gene” would have been weeded out.

    Just FYI to everyone, from the flight deck you can see the Hyatt Hotel. The Navy tends to/used to park ships there for local tours on the weekend.     Protestors here out in droves with helicopters looming and cars beeping. My area was overwhelmingly against prop 8 (i heard even more so than San Francisco – which was interesting).

    I avoided them because they had traffic backed up pretty good. So not much to see.

    Good to see Freedom of speech is alive and well. I just hope when Obozo starts in with crappy policy making we get the same “tolerence” afforded to us.

    From the few signs i did see, the word “BIGOT” was pretty over-used.

    Why am I a bigot if I don’t agree with what you say?

    I am compelled to share the “good news”. This blog is fair game for all (with Michelle’s blessing, of course). There are many people here who regularly post with axes to grind. Why are my posts any different? My world view stems largely from the Bible, so it is natural for me to use it. Would you rather me fall back to making everything a Star Trek analogy? :) My friends accuse me of this. I’ve been trying to be better there, but for you I could make a point to start.     I believe that most Mormons are kept in the dark about the true LDS doctrine. Although Mormonism has accomplished wonderful things and has produced quality people, its crushing downfall is its dependence on works for salvation. I wish I could say different, but I find no way around it.
