Left and lefter: The One and The Other One vow to “fix up the country;” Plus: Bush’s parting gift to Obama

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 17, 2008 01:35 PM

Terrific: Barack Obama, John McCain, and Lindsay Grahamnesty are united in their pledge to “fix up the country.”

President-elect Barack Obama and vanquished rival John McCain met for the first time since the November 4 election on Monday, pledging to work together to face the financial crisis and other national challenges.

“We’re going to have a good conversation about how we can do some work together to fix up the country,” Obama said, adding that he wanted to offer his thanks to McCain for his “outstanding service” to the country.

McCain, when asked generally whether he was hoping to help the Democratic president-elect, replied: “Obviously.”

…McCain, who lost his entourage of Secret Service officers and multiple staff when he lost the election, was accompanied in his meeting by his close friend and colleague, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

Obama was joined by his chief of staff, Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois.

I smell a massive foreclosure prevention program coming on, followed by the McCain-Obama Shamnesty 2.0.

Oh, crikey. Bush is going to leave half the crap sandwich for Barack Obama to spread around:

White House may let Obama decide part of bailout

The Bush administration has told top lawmakers it does not plan to use at least half of the $700 billion bailout fund that Congress approved this fall to aid the financial industry, congressional officials said Monday.

These officials said Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson passed the word over the weekend that he intends to leave $350 billion untouched when the administration leaves office on Jan. 20. That would mean the incoming Obama administration would decide whether and how the funds should be spent.

The disclosure comes at a time when Democrats are working to pass emergency legislation to spend $25 billion of the bailout money to provide loans to the battered auto industry.

    How about this…

It has taken the better part of a year, and specifically the last six months of this election season, for committed citizen journalists at TexasDarlin and many other blogs to conduct the solid, investigative research that the media, the democratic national committee, agencies of the federal government, Barack Obama himself, and Congress should have done on the eligibility and qualifications of Barack Obama.

There is a reasonable and common expectation by the voters that to qualify for the ballot, the individuals running for office must meet minimum qualifications as outlined in the federal and state Constitutions and statutes, and that compliance with those minimum qualifications has been confirmed by the officials overseeing the election process.

ObamShamnesty only wants to use them in getting Republican help to pass amnesty for illegals. Once done, success or failure, he’ll throw them under the bus as he’s done to all other associates who have worked with him in the past.

Also, Bush would be wise to veto any additional bailouts coming his way. The Dems only want to point fingers at the Bush administration when they fail but take all the credit if successful. The Dems never do anything in the spirit of bipartisanship unless it’s to their advantage.

I’d let Obama and the Dems start a “legacy” of their own.

What hard evidence is there, especially based on the bailout’s performance to date that your premise has one shred of reality in it?

To date we have gotten McCain-Feingold from Dear John. Graham has given us open borders and Obama has STILL ACCOMPLISHED…….wait for it……ZERO!

Gotta get after that new emerging Rebpubs committee to address the open elections that allow Dems select other party candidates. If I wanted to support Democrat issues I would be one. This is not good. Hope Obama doesn’t really mean it and is just pandering to whoever he can get in his corner. Sounds like more classic Alinsky at play.

Paulson would have had to go back to congress to get that second installment. There’s no way in hell that congress would have let him have it. “Giving” it to Obama makes it Obama’s problem.

Look for the Democrats to assert car companies need action sooner than mid-January. They’ll take over the bailout program with a big show of oversight from the O-man’s staff and would-be appointees. Then they’ll jack it up big enough to buy every dead mortgage in Washington (state), Florida, Nevada and, surprise, California. Oops, Arizona, we’re out of money.

    “Get things done?”

    “GET THINGS DONE?”

    Define THINGS.

Just because you GET THINGS DONE doesn’t mean that they are GOOD THINGS.

Activity does not equal good governance.

    Collectivist moron.

Why aren’t the dems talking about reedjumakation classes for displaced GM, Ford and Chryler Execs so they can learn a new skillset.

Too busy making sure terrorists in GITMO get a trial in the US court system to worry about that. Besides, those classes are for conservatives. They have camps for conservative Christians. We get to sign around camp fires.

LGM,, you said you quoted that McCain wants to get things done and that sounds like you are approving a man that you detested before. If you detest a rino that much, then your hatred for true conservatives must be going through the roof. I am curious to see how BO makes socialism work after Brezhnev and others couldn’t. Ive always heard yankee socialists say that if we can install socialism here we are sure to make it work. Remember, LGM the Russians are a great intelligent people and if anyone could make socialsm work it would be them.
