Last week, McCain won the “Least Favorite Person on the Right” poll at Right Wing News.
This week, John Hawkins at RWN conducted a follow-up poll on bloggers’ “Favorite People On The Right.”
Sarah Palin blew the competition away.

Maybe if conservatives stop driving away other conservatives with hatred and divisiveness, a coalition could grow that could take the country back.

Sadly, I think not. The Powers That Be at the RNC are of the country-club ilk, and they’re in charge. They’re going to give us another RINO, to whom we should say, “No thanks.”
There’s strength in numbers and it’s time that we get together with the Constitution Party and the Libertarians and see if there’s any chance of ironing out our differences. Other than the Libertarian stance on defense, I don’t think we’re so far apart, and none of these groups wants to see a B. Hussein Obama second term. Just sayin.’

Some are celebrity pundits, and some are politicians. We need good politicians who have fundamental beliefs and charismatic appeal.

Sarah Palin is the real deal, the kind that comes along once in a generation. She, Jindal, Demint, Pawlenty, et al, are the future. They have both the spine and focus to get us where we need to go. We need Rush and Hannity where they are, managing a clear communications conduit to us. Either way, the RINO’s have to be THROWN out. They won’t go quietly.
Please leave her be! She’s visiting her daddy, lucifer in hell.
I agree. I’m glad my House Rep. voted against the bailout twice. I just called his office to register my opposition to further bailouts and suggested REPEALING the existing one.
Look where the House and Senate Minority Leaders rated… didn’t make the list.

It really bothers me to see Fred Thompson in the number 4 slot. I initially supported Fred Thompson because he seemed like the most conservative candidata. What I came to realize, however, was that while Fred talks a good talk, he walks a bad walk. He started the race late, had no “fire in his belly”, and quit early. If you are honest with yourself, you’ll realize that Fred was never really in it to win it.
He was in it to help his “good friend John McCain” win the Republican nomination.
South Carolina was a pivotal primary in 2000, when McCain lost to an evangelical (Governor George W. Bush). Shortly thereafter, McCain gave his “Agents of Intolerance” speech, which he later doubled down on when he refused to apologize and said:
McCain is no friend to evangelicals, but he pretended to be in this election. (Of course, the same is true of Obama)
McCain’s strategy for 2008 required him to win South Carolina. That’s where Fred Thompson comes in. Thompson’s mission was to draw enough votes away from another evangelical Governor, Mike Huckabee, to ensure that McCain won.
Mission accomplished, Thompson quit the race three days later.
Please don’t trust Fred Thompson. He talks a good talk, but his actions in the Republican primary directly contributed to John McCain becomming our party’s nominee.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Don’t be fooled by Fred Thompson.

That’s an impressive list.
Sarah Palin learned a lot during this campaign. In -some- ways, it may have been better that she lost, saving her from being saddled with John McCain for 4 years.
No one knows for sure what her future holds but without a doubt, she’ll take what she’s learned and build on it. If she’s in the position for another run, she’ll be even more of a force the next time around. And if there’s another “Gibson” interview in her future… you can bet she’ll wipe the floor with anyone that tries to sandbag her like Gibson tried to do.
Gee…Liberal pundits and the MSM came out agaist GOVERNOR Palin in a way that I have never seen or heard of in the history of U.S. Politics, then came out claiming she was a drag on the ticket and finally that she was why McCain lost.
Now why would they feeel that way and say those things??
FEAR!!!! She is their worst nightmare and they feared a woman as smart and morally grounded as her gaining a foothold in National Politics, weakening their hold on the women of this coubtry and possibly changing and winning over the hearts and minds of todays young women, setting back the “Sluttification” of our daughters for at least a generation.
However the truth of the matter was that the vast majority of us loved her. Men wanted her and women want to be like her.
It was so nice to actually have a real role model for my daughters, even if it was only for a few weeks. I pray that she is not going to remain in Alaska for very long and this was just the beginning for her.

I’m missing something here – when did McCain swing to the right?
Nothing against Sarah Palin, but logically McCain should have chosen either Frank Keating or Steve Largent or JC Watts as VP candidate. Keating would have been the strongest but all three would have more helpful to the ticket than was Governor Palin.

One of the truly depressing aspects of these lists is how few trustworthy and informative conservatives remain. Sowell, Steyn, Coulter, Rush, Malkin, and maybe Goldberg and Hanson. That’s pretty much it. I don’t think anyone reads Horowitz anymore. And has anyone ever cared what George Will or “Christo” Buckley or Kathleen Parker or Peggy Noonan have to say on anything? They and many others have gone RINO on us. And most of them I have a strong feeling are not coming back. Just as well. Perhaps it was because of Palin. But if she is such a divisive and polarizing figure, then bless her for being so. We needed a house cleaning and we got one. We’ll rebuild with what we have.
Imagine what would have happened if the Republican party would have actually nominated someone they liked. Jeez, may have won…
Stop with the GRIPES… OL’ JUAN could have picked JESUS as his running mate, and still LOST THE ELECTION!!! Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory… The most INCOMPETENT campaign I have witnessed… Give SARAH 4 great years as GOV in Alaska… She will sharpen her wits and wisdom… This is why MCCAIN staffers are trashing her today… She will be calling the tune at the DANCE in 2012…
