Four words about Kathleen Parker
Don’t feed the troll.

It is an abject waste of time, energy, and capital to do otherwise.

Four more words:
She is not relevant.
Yeah, same thing.

I won’t feed the troll but I do have a question: What happened to Parker and others like her? Were they CINO’s (conservatives in name only) or did something else happen that turned them? I really am puzzled by this. Sarah Palin represents every wonderful woman that I’ve ever known and I have great confidence in her leadership and her abilities. I just can’t figure out the Parkers of the conservative world.
Never heard of Parker before she started bashing Palin. I’ll wager no one else had, either.

Methinks you’ve hit on at least part of the reason for the Palin bashing.
Still have no clue, and kinda glad I don’t know.
My four words:
“Are you still here?”
Over 90% of Americans still believe in God. Many might not go to church themselves but, thanks to MSM, a majority of them darn well know that Obama goes to one too – a normal Christian church. Thanks to MSM they have no idea whatsoever that he rationalized that letting innocent newborn premature babies just lie on a table and die was the right thing to do. Thanks to MSM they know nothing about Jeremiah Wright’s communist propaganda, ‘black liberation theology’. Thanks to MSM they think Sarah Palin said she can see Russia from her house. yada …
Joe Biden’s four words.
“Go away, sweetie.”
Kathleen who?!?
Kathleen who?!?
I said it twice in four words!
How does Parker sound or think any differently from the “remove religion from the public sphere” liberals out there?
She doesn’t. Obviously, realizing that socially conservative ballot measures passed in 06 and 08, means nothing…
Here’s a great observation, by a commenter, on the issue of social conservatives and the religious right:
Credit: CrankyCon.
Someone needs to send Parker the memo.
I have never read anything that kp has written, but reading the posts of the people who have, she must be a ’sweet little thing’. I have more to do with my time than read the likes of kp.
L
Who?
People, take the hint. The intensity and ruthlessness exhibited by your party when you’re excommunicating people is indicative of how unhealthy and irrational the G.O.P is. I mean, this is how scientologists treat their former members. Is that how you want to end up? Like scientologists?
four words.
STFU?
She lives in Camden, SC, a small town up the road a piece from hometown in SC. If I could figure out where exactly she lives I’d knock on her door and go “Ooogedy-Boogedy!!!”
Does the Washington Post know that? Isn’t that below their redneck line?
This isn’t the anti-prop 8 thread…
Interesting, a thread about trolls, and here comes digshot, a troll.
Who the h*ck is Kathleen Parker?
The ONLY reason I voted for McCain was because of Palin. As a single working mother of only one child…I marvel at how she does it. Anyone who does not “get it” that she is not just mainstream America but the BEST of the lot is clueless, or an elitist. I’m doubtful that Parker is clueless…elitist may be the problem…..I have come to revile many who call themselves Republicans and their presence in the party is why I became an Independant. (Starting with Lame McCain…who stands ready to stab us all in the back at any time.)
Fancy, yet cute choice of words there. I prefer to call it survival. The body is ruthless when fighting diseases, and so shall we be in fighting the disease of “better-than-thou-a-titis”.
I stopped reading Kathleen Parker quite some time ago.
Sounds like I made a good choice!
Wha’? Aren’t us Oogedy-Boogedy Bitter Clingers the only Conservatives left in the GOP? The rest are Democrap-Lite. Seems Ms. Parker can’t remember as far back as the Reagan years. The GOP needs more Oogedy-Boogediers.
Haven’t read her nor Chavez for quite some time.
I’ve had enough McCain being picked for me by the MSM et al; I certainly don’t need another columnist telling me how to be a ‘good conservative’…
“Ms. Parker, your 15 minutes are up.”
Considering these demographic changes, pragmatism may require one to heed her words rather than disregard them.
I actually read Ms. Parker before she went on this anti-Palin run. I read her book “Save the Males” that was actually quite good. Really disappointed in what she has done.
Like Peggy Noonan — irrelevant.
TheOtherSide: I wouldn’t count on it. In fact after 1 year of the coming Obama disaster, you will see another change.
Remember 1994.
I think it’s not the dissent itself that’s turning people off to KParker, it’s the snide, smug tone coupled with the overblown martyrdom that puts people off.
In other words, “Kathy, get off the cross. We need the wood.”
Face it. Parker has gone over to the bark side.
Demographic changes aren’t permanent, OS. 4 years of Obamanomics and terrorist attacks just might trend people to the right.
To say that we can’t act on our religous views in the political world is crap. In fact its down right dangerous. If the people in washington DC actualy stgarted acting on what they claim is thier religous views, there would be no corruption.
I was thinking STFU.
At the risk of feeding…

This assumes two things: 1) That “preaching” (lecturing, discussing, debating, informing, educating) is useless and 2) demographics of any sort are immutable, relentless and inevitable.
Both are leaps of faith.
Yep, when all this fantasy/novelty wears off about Obama, or the rest of the country gets Obama fatigue due to hyperventilating media coverage, people will realize this is an ordinary guy who is basically a puppet controlled by his handlers.
And when the media finally starts doing their job, and the public realizes what fools they had been for electing him based on his “coolness” factor, things will change. For real.
After two years of disastrous policies — one of his first being global warming (hey, Barack, read the corrections NASA just did with regards to temps), tax increases, wrecking the economy, imposing corporate taxes, socialized healthcare, etc., it will be prime time for the Republicans to take over and fix this mess.
And bad economic times tend to make people return to religion. You know, that whole cling to their guns and bibles thing.
Ain’t gonna happen. The MSM will paint a rosey picture no matter how bad it gets, and play up anything good. Just as they tried to portray the GWOT as a ‘quagmire’ and the economy (of a few years ago) as bad when all the indicators were up.
The GOP cause half the problem.
I’ve seen her name somewhere…
Midlife crisis for aging fake blond? Contagious disease at MSNBC, spread by Chris Matthews? Maureen Dowd wanna be?
She has taken Palin bashing to a new level of sewer gas.
Someone needs to tell old Kathleen that no one cares anymore (or reads her columns). The libs will tire of her soon.
To those who think Kathleen Parker attractive, in my best Motown voice…. “beauty’s only skin deep yeah yeah yeah… beauty’s only skin deep ohhh yeah”
Don’t worry, it will happen. Time magazine is laying off 250 people today, and the rest of the MSM media will go down in flames. If they finally wake up and realize that the public doesn’t want to hear any more propaganda, maybe things will change.
Soon enough there won’t be anymore MSM.
One of the problems I see is that things that used to just be, have now become political issues. Who in the world ever thought that marriage between a man and woman would be controversial or foment political division? Or that you just don’t kill unborn children? Or that freedom of religion, and the ability to use one’s beliefs to impact the democratic process, or as a means to dictate how one treats their fellow humans, would be under assault?
These examples, and others that slip my mind now, used to “just be.” How many times growing up were we told, “That’s just the way the world works.” It’s only in the last few decades they’ve become “social issues,” and thus, political issues.
Everything is turned upside down.

Spiderwoman, Peter Parker’s sister…
Same here. I don’t know what happened. At one time, she was a sane, serious writer. Then she jumped the shark — and I didn’t even see anything that, looking back, should have been warning signs. It’s almost like her personality did a 180 along with her politics. Compare this old column praising evangelical Christian activism with her most recent ramblings.
Speaking as someone who has family with mental illnesses, if I were one of her relatives, I’d be concerned for her.
Um… Aren’t we feeding the troll by discussing her?
Yet, that’s the topic of the thread, so we’re not trolling. …I think.
I’m confused.
That’s all fine and dandy if you want to stick with racial stereotypes (like the left always does) and identity politics, but the point Michelle and others are making is to stick with conservative ideology. That SHOULD transcend identities and stereotypes. If it doesn’t then those that hold them dear are the bigots, not the other way around.
Exit polls showed that more people of all shapes and sizes identified themselves as conservatives than liberals…and that percentage hasn’t changed. So should the GOP abandon that and go for the middle? Of course not.
The problem Parker points out is that the vocal religious conservatives cause defections. It’s a valid point…they do. But the solution isn’t to ditch religion. Look at the biggest social issue..prop8. 70% of blacks, a majority of Hispanics, and the social religious conservatives were all in agreement. Use religion to tap into those demographics and shed the worn out liberal stereotypes. It’s the stereotypes that are the problem, not conservative Christians themselves.
And you certainly don’t CREATE an image of a religious zealot like Parker and others did to Palin…who IMO was not particularly religious in public. She has balance in her life. It was wrong and unprincipled to attack her just because balance INCLUDED conservative religion. That just plays into the MSM/Dem strategy of identity politics.
Wow. Big batch of troll feeding.
I don’t like Palin or religious conservatives, but I normally keep it to myself.
I suppose this person just takes it too far……
Hey, sparky! Did you read the reaction of the Kos Kids to the Democrats allowing Lieberman to keep his Homeland Security Committee chair? Don’t come around here pointing the “excommunication” finger at us.
ECS
Well folks. If the conservative right isn’t getting the message, why has my small town gun shops sold over 3 million rounds of ammunition in the last two months? That is fifty time the normal amount.
My town in Idaho gets it.
Ha
I quit feeding the troll but it seems every other day the editors of Hot Air refer to her in some form or another.
I had never heard of here before I started reading Hot Air.
Maybe someone has a crush, don’t know.
Where I live, we know when it’s time to thin the herd. To keep it healthy, the weak ones go on the barbecue.
One more time-as in me too:
Went to the doctor today and he said I was still alive and now I see Time magazine is laying off 250 people today
Two for two.
With her overly dramatic and teary eyed reference to a “last cigarette and a blindfold” only 4 words came to my mind:
Pull the damn trigger.
Parker is like the girl who tries very hard to be popular in high school, giving her best effort with the football team at the local drive-in; but sadly still ends up sitting at the nerd table in the cafeteria.
Parker hasn’t just committed a political betise, she’s committed a Crime against Humanity — she has screwed up NRO’s annual fund drive, by sneering at a good portion of the conservative base!
On top of that, consider the stupidity of her argument: Millions of religious conservatives stayed home this past election.
THEREFORE, per Kathleen the Wise, the way for the GOP to regain its strength is to — reject them and all the religious conservatives who reluctantly schlepped themselves to the polls to vote for McCain.
As Canh of “King of the Hill” would say: “Kathleen, your ass* is GENIUS!!”
She and Peggy Nooner should get a room.
My four words would be “FOAD.”
This ^^. No “fundamentalist” has ever told me how to live my life. Liberals on the other hand have told me what to buy, where to buy, what to eat, what to watch, what to read, what to listen to, what to drive, where to live, what to wear, and if I don’t obey I’m an evil closed-minded fundie Nazi bigot racist who deserves to be treated worse that an inmate at Dachau.
One word for Parker – ASCERBIC
Once sarcasm stops being mildly amusing, its just lame and mean. We dont need the Republican version of Dowd, or Franken or Garafolo or Oberman or Maher or …
(are you taking notes digshot?)
Wow, you could say that about the anti Prop 8 folks. At least we’re not out there throwing things at people, costing their jobs, and wrecking property. On a DAILY BASIS.
Dig, I believe you have cross-posted to the wrong blog. Try http://www.rnc.org
My four words…
Sarah Palin is great!
in my best Motown voice….
No matter which species of animal, its the weak ones that always have the tenderist cuts of meat that just seem to fall right off the bone. Its almost as if there were no backbone at all.
But with that aside, we’re having Sushi tonight! Does anyone have any fresh slabs of Whale?
Our daily paper in Asbury Park NJ runs Parker on the right and Marie Cocco on the left.
Shall I inform them they appear to be out of balance, or will the absence of a conservative writer just give them mainstream media street cred?
Thanks. I now need to clean coffee spit off the computer
Ya. Me to. I’m sure am happy my mother isn’t alive today to see what has become of her son.
Speaking of fairweather pundits, was Nina Easton ever conservative? I mean, her husband ran Mitt Romney’s campaign right into a ditch and all she can do is bash anything conservative.
Tonight on Britt Hume’s show (along with the increasingly crotchety-looking Mort Kondracke), she whined about how McCain should have been more like Cap’n Big Ears and that all the city-dwelling indies voted for Oh-No because McCain wasn’t enough like him. Eh?
And as for the trollette who’s the subject of this thread, I am constantly amazed at all the people who poke fun at Palin for being inexperienced and unaccomplished when she heads up a state with $$millions$$ to spare vs those oh-so-brilliant di$%heads in DC!
In fact, that ought to be her slogan in ‘12: Hi, I’m Surplus Barbie$$$!
Kathleen who?
She is a nobody to me, and I’m being totally honest.
Kathleen must be vying for a gig as campaign manager for “McCain 2012″. As if there would be much competition.
Lol, perfect.
Me too, Danno. Know Dorothy Parker, but Kathleen is “huh? who cares?”. Apparently she’s just some poor lass with a Messiah-ette/martyr complex.
I think she’s just vying for attention. The MSM loves it when a “conservative” goes against their own party. She’s a celebrity in their minds.
purplepeep, she must be just another inadequate media type trying to make a name for herself amongst her liberal friends by jumping on the Bash Sarah-cuda bandwagon.
She is no different than the crotch crud who would use the coffins of our departed Heros to spout off from.
Never heard of her until now and just read “Giving Up on God”.
Is it just me or did she write a lot of words yet not explain why God is a problem for the Republican party? Either I missed it or all she managed to say was ‘keep God to yourselves, I (personally) don’t want to hear it’.
Well, I dunno. I went and read it and agreed with it. There, I said it. I live in Iowa, and as a middle of the road person who tends to vote Republican, I don’t recognize the Republican Party in this state these days. It seems to be dominated by people that I consider to be a bit off the grid. I fear that it is becoming irrelevant.
Four words Boner Assassin
It’s still being treated better than PRO LIFE DEMOCRATS are treated.
Don’t you have a goat to eat or a bridge to haunt?
Boner Assasin²
never heard of here till she started bashing Gov. Palin. I have heard of that other left wing breathing trollop Peggy Noonan that reminds me of McShame by always bashing the right and then claiming to be conservative, as she critics the good Gov. Think they both have a serious case of jealously.
4 words for both of them: now go f*&% off
Hmm – thats the weirdest “sippery slope” argument I have ever heard:
slouching from Conservative to scientologist. Gotta stop smokin’ that bad stuff dogshot.
Other Side has been on a couple of threads now with his demographics link. My guess is he is a political professional, or close to it. He wants to scare you with stats. And the political demographics are definately changing, they often do. But basic values don’t often change that much or that fast. Most Americans are still against such things as big bailouts, unchecked illegal immigration, late term abotions and gay marriage. There is still plenty to work with, if our Repub leaders would only get a clue.
I agree with Kathleen Parker.
That she should have been shot?
four more words:
just ignore the woman….
Pseudo-cons publically hating the conservative base is about as trendy as it gets these days. It tracks Palin hatred very closely — indeed the two appear to be inseparable. P.J. O’Rourke, for example who used to be a libertarian on the right, now damns conservatives for being hypocrites, the idea being we say we are for the right to life but we don’t care about the lives of any Mexicans who cross the border illegally. Simper and whine appropriately at this point. I actually thought that most conservatives were more concerned about the lives of innocent Americans victimized by the Mexicans here illegally, but P.J. doesn’t want to hear about that.
My primary problem with Parker is her claiming victim status. That’s the dead solid giveaway of being a leftist. She itches for it in her nasty columns and then she gets it. What. A. Surprise.
Over at the NRO Corner, which is quite entertaining these days, Jonah Goldberg makes the obvious point that there are crazies on both sides of the political spectrum, but Parker and her ilk couldn’t care less. Indeed, there are far more on the left, but somehow they are granted automatic immunity. What is it about getting a book contract that makes one a god among men?
This sense among our literary betters that if somehow the conservative base were to vanish (William Ayers I am sure has ideas on how to do it) everyone remaining would find themselves in a far better world, one where we hold hands and sing together, really cannot be rationally responded to. If they think that, and the evidence is quite strong that they do, then fine, the left will gladly take them. Over at the NYT, pseudo-con David (”Sarah Palin is a deadly cancer on conservativism”) Brooks should be able to help find them jobs. Victims all, they will not be missed by us. Not only that, a paycheck beckons as well.
beenthere, and what does PJ say about illegals undercutting wages for low skilled workers, who in many cases are black, thus taking away their jobs? Give ‘em all, illegals and blacks, government jobs under Obama’s USSA plans?
Like many commenters above, I’ve never heard of Parker. But she should be referred to Truman’s advice: If you can’t stand the heat, stay out the kitchen. (No matter which side it’s on.)
No, I had never heard of her before.
Perhaps now Ms. Parker will get invited to a couple of cocktail parties, maybe even to the Obamafest in January. Ms. Parker is a fraud.
I have never heard of this person before this post. Is the the president of the Obscure Americans Society?
Makes her real relevant.
As far as Christians forsaking their beliefs in order to satisfy the general public,, well that won’t be happening because the Lord instructed us to go and preach the gospel to the most outer parts of the world. Furthermore He also told us not ever be ashamed of the Gospel.
One terror attack under Obambi and the mask will come off. Out will come the jack boots, truncheons, fairness doctrine, assault weapons confiscation, road blocks (show me your papers!), wire tapping, employment black balling…in short he will manifest himself as a tyrant in order to protect us. Even with out a pretext, things are going to get ugly.
Kathleen Parker…wasn’t she a 70’s porn star? Sheesh…
I share your view on Sarah Palin. Kathleen Parker is either a maverick wannabe trying to ingratiate herself with Eastern liberal elites, or she is just too stupid to tell the difference between an SNL caricature and the real Sarah Palin.
Attacking someone for no good reason other than you detect the faint smell of blood in the water and you want to get in on the feeding frenzy is a cowardly act that should be left to sharks and lawyers.
No problem! Its a gift.
Actually I paid a lot of money for it…. My ex’s lawyer taught me that if you throw enough mud on the wall, something eventually has to stick.
Fortunately she ran out of money to buy enough mud before his theory was validated.
Gee. I only know K.Parker from posts like this. Is she someone important?
Someone else lifted this quote from KP:
*emphasis mine
Well, here’s another quote for you:
Doesn’t sound like we’re being told to keep the good news in the privacy of our hearts, does it?
Given the choice of heeding Ms. KP’s words or the words of the true Messiah, well, I’ll let the words of Joshua speak for me:
