The insane rage of the same-sex marriage mob

My first syndicated column of the week today chronicles the insane rage of the anti-Prop. 8 mob that’s not on your newspaper front pages or nightly news. The lawsuits are piling up: “Four Bay Area counties are the latest to join the legal fight to try to stop state Proposition 8, a ban on same-sex marriage in California that voters approved Nov. 4. The Board of Supervisors for Alameda, Marin, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties have approved joining a lawsuit filed in the California Supreme Court by the cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles and Santa Clara and Los Angeles counties. The lawsuit is one of six cases filed directly in the state high court in San Francisco to challenge the Proposition 8.” California AG Jerry Brown wants fast action. The buzz over potential judicial recalls is building. Meantime, the anti-Prop. 8 mob is plotting its next action: “Day Without a Gay.” And the latest on the witch hunt against the Mormon Church is here.

Before election day, national media hand-wringers forged a wildly popular narrative: The Right was, in the words of New York Times’ columnist Paul Krugman, gripped by “insane rage.” Outbreaks of incivility (some real, but mostly imagined) were proof positive of the extremist takeover of the Republican Party. The cluck-cluckers and tut-tutters shook in fear.
But when the GOP took a beating on Nov. 4, no mass protests ensued. No nationwide boycotts erupted. Conservatives took their lumps and began the peaceful post-defeat process of self-flagellation, self-analysis, and self-autopsy. In fact, there’s only one angry mob gripped by “insane rage” in the wake of campaign 2008: The mob of left-wing, same-sex marriage activists incensed at their defeat in California. Voters there approved a traditional marriage initiative, Proposition 8, by 52-48.
Instead of introspection and self-criticism, however, the sore losers who opposed Prop. 8 have responded with threats, fists, and blacklists.
That’s right. Activists have published an “Anti-Gay Black List” of Prop. 8 donors on the Internet. If the tables had been turned and Prop. 8 proponents created such an enemies’ list, everyone in Hollywood would be screaming “McCarthyism” faster than you can count to eight. A Los Angeles restaurant whose manager made a small donation to the Prop. 8 campaign has been besieged nightly by hordes of protesters who have disrupted the business, intimidated patrons, and brought employees there to tears. In fear for their jobs and their lives, workers at El Coyote Mexican Café pooled together $500 to pay off the bullies.
Scott Eckern, a beleaguered artistic director at the California Musical Theatre, was forced to resign over his $1,000 donation to the Prop. 8 campaign. The director of the Los Angeles Film Festival, Rich Raddon, is next on the chopping block after the anti-Prop. 8 mob discovered that he had also contributed to the Yes on 8 campaign. Calls have been pouring in for his firing.
Over the past two weeks, anti-Prop. 8 organizers have targeted Mormon, Catholic, and evangelical churches. Sentiments like this one, found on the anti-Prop.8 website “JoeMyGod,” are common across the left-wing blogosphere: “Burn their f—ing churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers.” Thousands of gay-rights demonstrators stood in front of the Mormon temple in Los Angeles shouting “Mormon scum.” The Mormon headquarters in Salt Lake City received threatening letters containing an unidentified powder. Religious-bashing protesters filled with hate decried the “hate” at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif. Vandals defaced the Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills, Calif., because church members had collected Prop. 8 petitions. One worshiper’s car was keyed with the slogans “Gay sex is love” and “SEX;” another car’s antenna and windshield wipers were broken.
In Carlsbad, Calif., a man was charged with punching his elderly neighbors over their pro-Prop. 8 signs. In Palm Springs, a videographer filmed unhinged anti-Prop. 8 marchers who yanked a large cross from the hands of 69-year-old Phyllis Burgess and stomped on it.
In San Francisco, Christians evangelizing in the Castro district needed police protection after the same-sex marriage mob got physical and hounded them off the streets.
Enthusiastically shooting themselves in the foot, anti-Prop. 8 boycotters are now going after the left-wing Sundance Film Festival because it does business in Mormon-friendly Utah. Also targeted: Cinemark Theaters across the country. The company’s CEO, Alan Stock, donated just under $1,000 to the traditional marriage measure. Never mind that Cinemark theaters are hosting the new biopic about gay icon Harvey Milk. They must pay for the sins of the company head who dared to exercise his political free speech!
Corporate honchos, church leaders, and small donors alike are in the same-sex marriage mob’s crosshairs, all unfairly demonized as hate-filled bigots by bona fite hate-filled bigots who have abandoned decency in pursuit of “equal rights.” One wonders where Barack Obama (himself an opponent of Proposition 8 and an opponent of gay marriage) is as this insane rage rages on. Soul-Fixer, Nation-Healer, where art thou?

The no on 8 people actually ran ads saying Barack was opposed to prop 8. My wife said, “but I heard him say in the debate he was not for gay marriage.”
I couldn’t explain the contradiction.
On the link “Day without a Gay” (which btw I couldn’t find that topic on) there is a list of things Obama supports for gays, and Gay Marriage is on that list. I am assuming it’s just another thing he lied about during the campaign to get elected.
Michelle, just an aside… could you please use the Full name of the Church in the first mention of us. The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then maybe say, aka Mormons or LDS. And then use the shortened terms.
On the Official Church Website they ask Media and Reporters to please use the full name at least once.
Hoping the Day without a Gay has the same results as the Day without an Illegal Alien…less traffic for the rest of us
Here’s the list from that site:
Expand Hate Crimes Statutes
Fight Workplace Discrimination
Support FULL Civil Unions and Federal Rights for LGBT Couples (Includes Repealing DOMA)
Oppose a Constitutional Ban on Same-Sex Marriage
Repeal Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell
Expand Adoption Rights
Promote HIV/AIDS Prevention
Michelle – Here is the Style Guide link for the Church for all Media.
The one thing repeated over and over again in the 2nd video: the mob shouting, “shame on you! shame on you!”, has had me thinking.
By what standard can they attribute shame to a particular behavior? Based upon their other comments, I presume they don’t believe in God, ergo their worldview lacks a “law giver”. I suppose my question to anyone in the mob would be, “what would cause you to ever feel shame?” Is their attributing shame on others nothing more than a shield from their own conscience at work? Could it be that the very presence of Christians causes them to confront their own guilt, which would explain the mob’s obvious angst towards them? Is it possible that this is the result of a culturally “open” society, a society that claims freedom, yet reserves the right to determine what is “open” and what is not?
Send_Me – I thought the same thing while watching it. And couldn’t help but note the irony of them trying to heap shame on others.
You make excellent points.
From http://ask.yahoo.com/20070130.html:
Thus, we allow less than 2% of the population to threaten, bully, and intimidate the remaining 98% of us into redefining marriage. Meanwhile, LGF gleefully posted a thread today celebrating the fact that 98% of Texas Science Professors reject Intelligent Design. Anyone admitting that they believe in ID is immediately banned at that site — furthermore, if LGF had their way, they’d probably burn ID believers at the stake (as witches).
Is it just me, or is anyone else struggling with these behaviors in light of the numbers?
My collie says:
I don’t believe that it will be very long before Christians are openly murdered for their beliefs here in the United States.
Ah. Yet another example of the stunning depth of tolerance and enlightened thinking to be found on the left coast. What a bastion of free speech and hope n change California has become.
Yak. The “anti-gay black list”-website actually starts with a picture of a memorial for homosexuals murdered by the Nazi regime. That is an absolute disgrace. There is no sane way to actually compare the brutal mass-murder of homosexuals in Germany with the passing of Prop 8. Any homosexual with a sense of history should be appalled by this comparison.
As a German citizen, I am always stunned by how quick some people are to compare real or even imagined injustices to the Holocaust or other Nazi crimes. Most of these comparisons border on insanity, with the “anti-gay black list” being a perfectly good example.
As for gay marriage – Germany has passed a gay marriage law in the late 90’s, and since it had no notable adverse effect on society yet, I figure that there is (apart from religious feelings) not really much of a reason to oppose it. However, any comparison to Nazi persecution of homosexuals is just flat out disgraceful and stupid.
Doesn’t that intolerant group call themselves the Pink Nazi’s? They should…
Yum, you go boys! That is soooo fierce.
Unrelated, but this had me worried for a second…
Yahoo News: Malkin takes ice hockey puck to the face, sees scoring streak end
Hmmm, my hair stylist is hetero…
Not if that ‘turn the other cheek’ thingy becomes ‘turn the other cheek and kick someones a$$ first.
I was critised before for saying it, but I will say it again. These people will not give up until they find some way of overthrowning the vote and putting their own law in effect. Perhaps the 9th Circus will join in…who knows? This isn’t about love, it’s about money and benefits that they want.
I don’t much care for the Mormon Church, but they do seem to have all the right enemies!
If I recall, The One’s mealy-mouthed divine position was that he opposed gay marriage, but he did not support discrimination in the CA constitution.
“Day without gay”
Will I still be able to get my double latte with foam ?
I still do not understand on what basis you’ve decided that gay rights are somehow totally “left wing”. It’s true that the left wing Democrats generally support gay rights, but very few support gay marriage. And these protests are about gay marriage. We know that there are high ranking Republicans that support gay rights. There is even an organization for gay Republicans.
I think you need to get your facts straight and stop misrepresenting this issue. Gay marriage is NOT a left wing cause, and it is grotesquely presumptive to asume that all those who are protesting are left wing. Because you have nothing else to complain about with the Democrats, you’ve just brazenly decided to pretend that the people protesting (the overwhelming majority of these protests have been peaceful – a fact you convenintely omit) are angry Democrats. They’re not; they’re angry gay people.
Wow, can you all get real for just a second? The plain and despicable bigotry that was Prop 8 passed by only a mere 4 points. That means that very many people support the rights of gay people. It’s not a case of 2% imposing on the remaining 98% – because people are evenly divided on the issue.
Thuggish behavior, textbook Un-American activity.
You go right ahead and give us all of those quotes and pictures of all of those conservative Republicans out there spitting on people, breaking into churches, beating up little old ladies, et al. You are, as usual, full of –it.
Only the 2% are out there threatening, demonstrating, and vandalizing. The rest deal with the fact that they lost.
Prop 8 a mere 4 points, lol, but Odopeys is a landslide…
same margin. too funny.
“Day without a Gay”
oh please make it…
“A Year without a Gay”
How about a

Suppose there was a 100% safe and effective means invented that totally precludes homosexuality if it is administered during early childhood.
I challenge prop 8 supporters to give just ONE reason why parents should not be allowed to use it for their children?
In other words, I challenge prop 8 supporters to show me just ONE parent who would not choose a means to guarantee for their child to be heterosexual if they had such a choice.
If the sexual behavioral dysfunction of homosexuality can be erradicated – who is going to miss it when it’s gone?

Great column, Michelle.
On November 19th, 2008 at 6:52 am, Omu said at #20: Wow, can you all get real for just a second? The plain and despicable bigotry that was Prop 8 passed by only a mere 4 points. That means that very many people support the rights of gay people. It’s not a case of 2% imposing on the remaining 98% – because people are evenly divided on the issue.
And, tell us, please, what was the point difference in the Presidential race?
Similar, if I recall. So, by your logic then, we “losers” are entitled to be angry conservative people (your #19) and terrorize the rest of the population?
So by that logic John McCain and Sarah Palin should be in the WH 46% of the time?
When there’s a popular vote, the majority …RULZ!
WOOPS! I am a quote rookie.
If they were evenly devided on the issue, the vote would have been 50/50.
The vote was 48/52. Sorry, but someone has to loose.
The presidential election was won/lost at the same ratio!
Tell you what, if the California vote is reversed, then I say REVERSE THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!!!!
My real fear here is that one of these clowns will get in somebodies face and push them too far and get popped. This is what they are hoping for and will only work to their advantage in the current environment.
Please people, don’t let it escalate any further. How about some organized looting and pillaging on gays? Not your cup of tea? How about some harassing of GLAAD members? How about some legal proceedings brought against them? Not a taker huh? We are all a nation of sheep and nobody on the side of right has any stones anymore. The courage of the people standing up to these terrorists is inspiring but, sadly not universal. Michelle is putting herself on the line and nobody else is – not all that unusual. Here in Rhode Island the state is being sued because we would not allow gays married in Massachusetts to divorce. This is where we are coming to folks – they want all the good stuff but not the bad.
Cool, off to burn down the local DNC headquarters.
On the horizon, Obama has stated that he wants to repeal DOMA.
Despite the fact that, in 1996, it passed in the Senate 85-14, in the House 342-67 and was signed into law by Bill Clinton.
Obviously there were a lot of democrats in there who know which side their bread was buttered. So go ahead gay supporters, WHINE TO OBAMA and see if he’ll listen to you. I doubt it…
All the while, we on the right are suppose to be civil, hold our tongues, and go about our business.
NO LONGER.
It’s time be to uncivil, loose our tongues, and fight the pathetic humanoids on their level.
I, personally, am sick of the p*ssies on the right always telling us to ‘mind our manners’ when we are attacked in such a manner. I don’t hear any cries of intolerance against religion, only intolerance for homosexuals.
They want a fight? They had better be prepared.
Present.
Whilst I’m the kind of guy who greatly prefers Adam and Eve to Adam and Steve,
aren’t there many more important issues to face (such as the destruction of the value of our earnings and savings) than homosexual marriage?
Not to fear, Omu! Christianity and conservatism will be dead soon, right? This utopia you envision just might happen yet. …
2(or so)% are self defined as gay, but they have created a crowd sympathetic to their cause under the misconception of inclusiveness and tolerance, usually learned in the public school arena.
I disagree…it is not about $ and benefits (which is the convenient social excuse, make those who oppose feel guilty, they have PLENTY of disposable income), but more about marginalizing traditional institutions (definition of marriage and all the areas of society that it benefits, the structure of society on earth) and changing public opinion in order to change culture. Once marriage is redefined into something perverted, then hate speech laws follow. Those who would disagree would easily be prosecuted and made to shut up. Hate literature would follow, which is a bulk of the Bible, if not all of it.
So it’s not about the money, it’s every bit about the lifestyle and eliminating any threat. In the end, it’s about eliminating God’s order for mankind. Sin and God cannot co-exist. This is rebellion…been around since the begining of time.
Those Christians who are standing up for their faith can take comfort in the fact that “Theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.”
But, for people like Omu, you REALLY need to repent because:
The homosexual issue is not the same as the civil rights of the past. FamilyWoman and I worked hard for equal rights for blacks and women in the sixties. These groups were discriminated against because of past social conditioning. The Gay rights groups demands are different because of a fundamental human revulsion toward same sex coupling. We survive as a human species by inborn desires, natural needs and fears. The attempt by gay activist groups to change our basic human character will always meet with resistance. To put in simpler term………
The thought of coupling with the same sex is as revolting as the smell of rotting flesh.
The people have spoken…GET OVER IT…
I assume the stomping of the cross was an example of tolerance of religon? Prop 8 only banned gay marriage. It did not ban gays. What we see here is the beginning of the liberal dictatorship.
BTW Obamas swearing in might bankrupt washington DC. I sense a trend.
Omu, and others like him/her, do not really understand the spiritual war going on here. They are pawns in the fight against principalities, powers, etc. Satan’s tactics are usually not understood well by those under his control. Only true believers of the Word understand this and can see the war going on. This is why we love the sinner, but hate the sin. It really isn’t their fault…they’re just reacting to what is controlling them.
Sometimes, amputation is the answer.
ROFL
Keep up the good work Michelle.
Insane rage? For one I prefer them to rage–easier to keep track of the little fagots.
Nothing personal Senator Edwards.
This needs to be stopped, now. I don’t care how many of these protesters are arrested. There is no right to terrorism in this country by anybody for any cause.
If the government won’t do it, the people will. We ought not to go there.
IMO, it would be better to get the government out of the marriage business altogether. The religious dogma involved is not amenable to political influence. They would do better to make the civil side of the issue a purely civil matter.
My wife’s rights to our property and the responsibility for our children’s welfare are the business of the government. Our marriage is between us and God.
If this comes up for a vote again, it will lose by a larger margin due to what is happening now. I’m not totally unsympathetic to their cause, but I’m totally repelled by the thuggery and bigotry on their part. I’m not a Californian, but I’d go wth the majority if I had a vote. There is nothing reasonable about trying to force me to legitimize deviancy with the name of a sacrament.
The Catholic church isn’t a democracy. I can’t change the rules. Civil unions for all is as far as I can or will go.
There is no national healing on this subject. The biochemistry of NORMAL peoples brains won’t allow a compromise that changes our basic social structure. Gay marriages is a threat to our culture and must be denied.
I feel a sudden urge to go see a movie at the local cinemark. Anything good playing right now?
Man. K Street and Congress stole billions and from us and we didn’t even get up off our couches. These folks didn’t really lost anything and all hell breaks loose.
Looks we’re the “chumps.”
Heck yeah! I’ll even spring for the $8.00 popcorn!
I like your plain talk Arizona. You don’t pull any punches.
Christians do not raise hell…
…we supply the kindling!
Where are the trolls this morning? I thought my comment that coupling with the same sex is as revolting as the smell of rotting flesh. would have attracted more gay flies.
Busy organizing the community and protesting.
Because in order for it to do any good, there would have to be some sort of homosexuality already in the child, and if there was, God put it there and wants it to be there for whatever reason.
Having said that, these protesters are acting completely out of their minds and charges should be pressed against them when they commit crimes.
If the gays can find a way to conceive children WITHOUT ARTIFICIAL MEANS, then I will support gay marriage. Otherwise, marriage is the union of a man and a woman.
But the gay-rights crowd doesn’t want to hear this. They seem to believe sex exists for one reason – pleasure, not procreation.
And the culture war goes on and on…
Hahah… I think I’ll go on a rant here, I’ve said my morality comes from observation and not some holy book, and clearly I see homosexuality as a threat as it serves a perversed need and not any sort of Duty. But oh I’m over blowing it, most gays are nice friendly people who won’t push there rights on me. Oh I guess they won’t threaten, attack, and set fire to people and things either. And do notice how this is in anti gun area’s with no defense versus a hoard. Lets give love a chance everyone I’m sure every little pissed off mongrol will love us and treat there new slaves in a loving manner.
Thats what this country has became, Slaves to there emotions and a bunch of cowardly ass Moat People. But on to my rant, every day in the news I’ve seen nothing but things that have pissed me off. Oh yes Obama is really open and multiculture with his cabnet of people from Chigaco and DC. Yep thats the nation Corruption and stupidity, then again maybe it is.
I’m sure some lefty will try and rip me for this, but that man is NOT healing this nation he’s ripping it apart. Blacks and forgive the term for the most areacting uppity toward whites as they have a “brother in the house”. I’ve heard many comments toward white from blacks in this manner from, “you better keep in line” to “Its pay back time” And all Obama has to do is come out and say.
I am not an african american, I am part white and I am an American. But will he? No, he got elected off of a campaing of hate and guilt and niave stupid youth of my generation who spent more time in the coffe shop than in the book store amassing knowladge and history. And if they were as open they would see Racisim comes from people of color just as much as those “G-D D-mn Cracka’s!”
At the local highschool the situation has gotten so bad that we have whites ACTIVELY joining the Nazi’s in fact 30 kids at least actively dress the part and the cops at the school won’t do anything. Then again with black and hispanic gangs and a national police mentality of “we’ll be there after it happens” are we surprised that the nazi support has grown 200% in this nation?! And we suspect these people to guard us. The goverment couldn’t guard a Whore house much less do anything worth while in it.
I mean come on, Nazi’s?! and I bet if you asked your kids all these gangs are at there schools. From the Bloods, to the Crpyts, MS-13 and the NeoNazi movement, there all misunderstood, nevermind violence since the election has climbed 300 percent since the election in gangs. Differance’s sure have united us. Meanwhile others pretend if a problem isn’t there it isn’t one. All the while they embrase “Feelings” and understanding with a non-violent non-judging appraoch to everything. This society will fall. Too much weakness, too much hate and distrust. In recent years I’ve seen most people in this nation short of family stay indoors and too themselves.
A moat mentaliy may protect you, but from a military stand point, those walls that keep you safe also, surround you, and you become nothing more than a fixed position, all alone and with no support, you are a target. you can be drove around, you can be bombed from afar, or ignored.
From all this praise, all this multi cultrialism I am predicting in the years to come we will have a balkins like inccedent, or “Peace keeping” of another power on this nation, that is if we don’t sell out our economy to the UN at this yearly economic crisis world convention.
Some leassons can only be lernt from death, and though I may dreed it I hope that it comes about, to crush these missguided dreams. And I will fight for my own ideals should such happen and it won’t be to restore the system that caused this. I would say I weap for this country….I don’t this was a long time coming and from history, should no one take up the reins and force it, it will happen again. As all that happend now, has before, and so it will again.
Well thats the end for my rant.
“Promote HIV/AIDS Prevention”
This is like promoting tobacco use and cancer prevention!!
Why is it called “same sex”?
I can gaurantee they’re not having the “same sex” I am.
swapping poo is not my idea of a good time.
and strap on’s?
lol, I guess you could put one on your head for Halloween and go as a Hornycorn
We wouldn’t be having this problem, or any civil rights issues, if we had used the original intent of the writers of our Constitution. Our Constitution was conceived with the knowledge and inspiration of Natural Law. Justice Clarence Thomas speaks on this view point. Please check it out.
I’m not sure why that YouTube video of someone’s computer was posted. The actual, full, news report is on the site.
al-Gayda will stop at nothing to undermine and destroy traditional American values for their own selfish self-interests. It is time to put the hammer down on these domestic terrorists.
I can see appealing a California Constitutional amendment to a Federal court, but how can the Cali Supremes rule that their state constitution violates their state constitution?
Had we Republicans not stood up and supported billions for AIDS research your wish may have been granted and this would have been a moot point. No good deed goes unpunished.
So by the same logic, is it OK with you for church folks to go over to LGBT organizations and scream insults outside their offices? Then we can go to LGBT business and intimitdate their employees and customers with threats? OK then, the church ladies will be right over, not.
(And please dont start with the Fred Phelps church, they are isolated nutballs, every group has them – but not on the same level and scope of the thousands of anti-prop 8 protestors)
Mention of Harvey Milk and the Jonestown suicides is probably coincidence. But lack of knowledge regarding their connection is probably another reason for the list of how ‘uninformed’ the left is.
aj – Your comments are usually witty and appropo, but that was gross and beneath you.
ajmontana #64:
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
TK-421 (#62): Your comments regarding schools are correct. I teach in a suburban high school with 2500 students. We have several active gangs, most notably the Bloods and the Crypts. As for racism among the students, I’m sure there are plenty of racist white students. However, the open racism comes mainly from the black students. We bus in a number of black students from a very poor area of town and they terrorize our school. They walk down the halls in groups of four or five and push the white students out of the way. I had to sit with a white, female student (14 years old) and wait for the school nurse after she had been attacked in the hall by another student (black, female, 15 years old). Apparently, she accidentally bumped into the black girl in the crowded halls. The black girl promptly threw her into a locker, ripped out half of her hair and her earring. This poor child actually held my hand as I escorted her through the hall to a secluded area. She was sobbing and all I could think was that if I was her mother, I would kill someone. The black girl was suspended from school for ten days and now that she has returned, she and her black friends laugh about the fight as they walk down the halls. I have a number of black students that I love but they can’t cry racism anymore. It isn’t a valid complaint if you are guilty of the same behavior.
So the Gay community expects everyone else to be “tolerant”.
They’ll cite Obama’s win as “the people have spoken.. yea!!”
But Prop 8 gets no such allowance?
Well, the people have spoken. These low-lifes should go home. The social backlash to this will be proportional to the acts they’re now committing.
I used to consider the gay community tolerant, as they understand what it’s like to be marginalized.
I no longer see them as tolerant. I see them as hypocrites.
Well done fools.
some pigs are more tolerated than others…
Happy,
why hide whats going on? it isnt all wine and roses the way it is being painted. I’m being tame, and so are others. And you’re correct it is gross.
Don’t try and cover up the ugly side and say it’s it’s all happy, happy, la, la, la…..
I plan on having a complete Thanksgiving dinner, not leaving out the Turkey.
A “Day Without a Radical Gay” would be (so to speak) a blessing.
AJ – Your comment was gross but it is the reality of homosexual behavior. You’re right not to sugarcoat it. Maybe if society discussed the truth rather than sugarcoating issues, we wouldn’t have as many problems.
No court can find any section of the constitution unconstitutional. The court gets it’s power from the constitution. If they can find one section unconstitutional, then they can find, say, the section that limits their judicial power unconstitutional.
It’s called “foot in the door policy.” I know the CA supreme court will hear the case and will probably overturn the will of the voters (again!) but the honorable thing to do would be to dismiss the suit because Prop 8 is now a section of the constitution. I also know that won’t happen because they’re brain-dead liberals. But dismissing the suit is the right thing, and constitutional thing, to do.
Oxymoron?
Thank you FamilyMan-I wish a few more of our Republican Leadership would stop being so mealy mouth. Why do they think Americans will follow weaklings? It will not happen.

Ed Mahmoud abu al-Kahoul #68. I missed your comment. See mine at #80. I agree with your question.
The legal question is whether or not proposition 8 is an amendment or a revision based on the scope of change. Pro-prop 8 supporters will define it as an amendment whereas anti-8 will say that it is a revision.
If they can prove it is a revision, according to the California constitution, it would have needed to have been passed by 2/3rds of the legislature.
If it is deemed to be an amendment, then you are accurate in that they would then need to take it to a federal court or back to the legislature.
That, at least, is my interpretation of the question that will be put before the California supreme court. Precedence from previous ballot initiatives suggests that the court is not likely to touch it if they can avoid it. We’ll see.
Oh now there’s lawsuits. When 80% of Americans wanted our laws of sovereignty and immigration enforced, nothing, but when maybe 7% of the population wants a license to marry Jerry Brown wants fast action.
Oh I get it, only liberals need apply.
No, janjar. An oxymoron is something that contradicts itself. As in, journalistic integrity or political honesty.
Brain-dead liberal is a redundancy.
No…just redundant.
@74, yeah racist come in all shapes sizes and color. However this multiculturalisim is making it worse, and there are other matters such as “Insert race” History month, yes it may promote understanding in a way, but it also provokes racial pride. Which nullifies the effects of the foremost reassoning.
I Myself refused to do black or hispanic history reports when I was in school and I told my reassoning, yet it would always lead to YOU RACIST!!!!
My reassoining was thus. All history of this nation or in the greater world should be played out as such, as the deads and actions of that person, and should be taught for its good and its bad so people may learn from it. It should not be a badge of merit for any given race as one group. As this was the work of one person.
And the good and bad should be made known. Malcome X should be removed from the school text books, or at least it should be known that his actions were just as much Terroist in action as civil rights movement. Just as slavery should rightfully be judged so should the actions, and not the attempts of this man.
But I guess that makes me racist, never mind I judge the KKK as harshly as I do the Black Panthers and am married outside of my race.
But on the topic, is it hardly surrprising that the backlash from this is such? One should not look for a fight needlessly, but one should not slide on ones values to make another feel welcomed, unless it has merit. Homosexuality is arcahic, nasty, and wrong.
Since the wide spread adaption of it and bisexuality AIDS and HIV have grown by well over 150% mainly in both of those communities and I could site a whole list of examples. When you deal with scum don’t be surprised if you give it a slice of cake it one day puts a gun to your head and says you better give the rest.
In my eyes and observation it is a sad matter, but most people arn’t good, unless there is a reward or a punishment.
Speakup, I can see that our CA values are taking hold all over!
