Obama taps Janet Napolitano for DHS: Shamnesty wolf in enforcement clothing
The buzz has Barack Obama tapping Arizona Democrat Gov. Janet Napolitano for DHS Secretary.
On the surface, it may seem a promising pick. Napolitano made a few pro-immigration enforcement moves in her state — including declaring a border security emergency and backing some employer sanctions. She riled the open-borders lobby by signing a bill banning public funding of day labor centers.
But Napolitano’s heart lies with the shamnesty crowd. She vetoed a bill cracking down on phony matricula consular cards for illegal aliens and rejected efforts allowing more cooperation between local law enforcement and the feds. She opposes assimilationist measures on English language and ID requirements to prevent voter fraud; she supports in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens.
In short, she’s a double-talker and double-doer who will ensure the immigration chaos status quo.

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano (D), whose handling of immigration issues brought her accolades from fellow governors, is President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to serve as secretary of homeland security, Democratic sources said late Wednesday.
Napolitano, 50, was an early supporter of Obama and was the only elected official tapped to serve on his transition team. She was reelected in 2006 to a second term as governor of Arizona, the home state of Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in the race against Obama. Napolitano previously served as U.S. attorney and state attorney general for Arizona; she was the first woman in both of those posts.
Napolitano’s selection was made pending vetting, sources said, and was first reported by CNN.

Stop right there. That is completely untenable.
Obama is doing everything he can to destroy our country. You can’t have it both ways on immigration. You can’t be for in-state tuition for illegals and say you are trying to oppose immigration. What part of ILLEGAL don’t these people understand?

About the level of analysis we have come to expect from an Obamamoonie liberal. Illegal immigration does not “just happens,” it requires a willful neglect of border security and visa enforcement; which is exactly what the Napolitano appointment portends.
Obama does not love America. If he did, he wouldn’t be so hell-bent on changing America on a fundamental level; and he would have worn the damn flag pin.

Being involved somewhat in conservative politics in Arizona I for one have been holding my breath that our Gov. would NOT be offered a ride out of Arizona on Obama’s back. I’m quite excited that we will be sending her off to D.C.
When my kids were growing up, I reminded them — there’s always a consequence for your actions. The result depends on whether you choose right or wrong.

1. Obama and McCain meet on Monday.
2. McCain announces probably run for reelection in 2010.
3. McCain’s biggest potential competitor is given a spot by Obama that likely takes her out of the running.

While he served as deputy attorney general for Slick Willie Clinton, Holder was the key person who made the pardon of Marc Rich possible in the final hours of the Clinton presidency. Rich, a financier, in 1983 was indicted for evading more than $48 million in taxes, and accused of more than four dozen counts of tax fraud. He also was accused of running illegal oil deals with Iran during the 1979-1980 time period when Americans were held hostage in Iran.
During his last week in office, President Bill Clinton pardoned Rich, who had fled the U.S. during his prosecution and was residing in Switzerland. Clinton’s 11th-hour move, along with pardons of his half-brother, Roger, and former business partner Susan McDougal, outraged Republicans and Democrats alike. This pardon was “purchased” like an ice cream cone at Dairy Queen by Mark Rich’s ex-wife Denise with the hefty donations she had given to the Clintons and the Democrats.
Great! The mouse is now going to guard the cheese. Why not just appoint Juan Hernandez the Head of ICE? Instead of a fence, we’re now going to get a bridge.

Assuming she goes to DC the Arizona Secretary of State, Jan Brewer, a really well respected Republican, becomes the new Governor of Arizona …

You are right, sort of. I am trying to give these people the benefit of the doubts are you are saying. (I do not think that Pres. Bush ruined our reputation around the world particularly–with some of the leaders, but not the countries.) Unfortunately, some of the people (Pres.-Elect Obama, Senator Kennedy, for example) advocate policies that have been shown never to work (socialism) and show no respect for American traditions that have helped to make our country great (such as respect for private property and enforcement of borders). This makes us think that they are trying to destroy our country on purpose for their own reasons.
And this would be the same Janet Napolitano of the Arizona 9/11 memorial travesty, no? Heading up Homeland Security, huh? Figures.

Just where are these illegals going to work during our economic crisis? How many landscape, building, and cleaning business are hurting now? How many people are going to be staying in hotels, eating at restaurants or patronizing the businesses likely to employ illegals? The santuary city next to me used to have the streets teaming with hispanics. Those same streets are now empty. For rent signs are appearing all over. Americans who have lost jobs will not put up with illegals remaining employed. I’m just thankful that the illegals didn’t get amnesty, because they’d be on welfare now while they waited to get citizenship.

What actually qualifies Janet Napolitano for this position? Seems like a real stretch to move a governor to a cabinet security administration post.
In many places, like Los Angeles, they are on welfare and they are collecting unemployment.
This is one of the reasons that Los Angeles’s budget is ~2 billion upside down.
And dont forget ‘Aunti Zeituni Onyango’, do you think she is the ONLY illegal in that state collecting on the free housing benefits?

When I heard about her selection and researched her record, I was baffled why the MSM felt this was a good selection. Maybe it was a good selection for them….not for me.
They thought Uuhbama was a good selection, so another militant pro-deather that likes to run up huge deficits while also raising taxes at every chance yet still managing to go more in debt, an open borders nut, and fighting to remove our protections in the Bill of Rights is just another utopian candidate for the left.
