*I picked up multi-talented radio/TV phenom Glenn Beck’s “The Christmas Sweater” tonight after bawling my eyes out the other day listening to him talking about it with his callers. He’s touched a nerve nationwide. It just hit #1 on the NYTimes best-seller list. Congrats!
*The other day in our chat on PJTV, Glenn Reynolds raised the idea of a conservative blogger conference. I said I thought it was a fine idea so long as fresh, new faces on the Right were included — and not just the same old ones. What do you think? Leave your feedback in comments or e-mail.
*The Obama daughters will be attending ritzy Sidwell Friends, the same exorbitantly expensive private school that Chelsea Clinton attended. I’ll have more to say about this later, but for now I’ll make these quick observations: The “security” card is a canard. Amy Carter went to public schools and the Secret Service handled it just fine. Some parents choose their kids’ schools based on which ones will give them the best education possible. Other parents choose the schools that will give their kids the proper social status they’ll need to win David Brooks’ approval. Did you ever have any doubt about which category the Obamas would fall into? Terry Jeffrey has more.
*Jeff Goldstein weighs in on the wisdom (or lack thereof) of including statist Mike Huckabee in discussions of the future of conservatism. I think it can be useful, in the same way watching that show “What Not To Wear” is useful.

Nope. Sorry. Your argument doesn’t hold water. Pres. Bush has been criticized for everything from his shamnesty stance to not upholding conservative principles by our hostess. I even thought that MM was hard on McCain at times but in hindsight, those cynical musings were justly deserved. MM champions and encourages thoughtful conservative ideas at the same time she identifies those who can’t see past the red fog that clouds their vision.
Exactly what has Obummer done to indicate a level of confidence on anything? When has he answered a single question with a straight answer?
Cynicism is not derangement. Outright personal attacks are. You know what I mean, Chaps. I guess you missed all the times when the far left held their little symbolic protests, threatening death, or burning the president’s image in effigy. Perhaps, I’m simplifying the wish list I kept seeing when I occasionally decided to drop by the Daily Kos Kids’ musings.
I’ll do you a favor, “my friend.” I’ll coin a term just to satisfy your need for justice. I, emjem24, hereby create the new phrase: Obummer Cynics Unite or OCU! as the new name for those like me who disbelieve 46 (or is it 47) years of failed liberal indoctrination.
Then again, when Obummer can’t even upgrade his half-brother’s Kenyan hut, I’m not all that surprised that he doesn’t want his girls to hang out with the peeps. Practicalities, practicalities.
I agree. Very sick to document it. And she seemed within 24 hours of doing her first “trick”. I guess they have the whole piece filmed already. Just a matter of showing it. No one cared enough to approach her and tell her she’s making a mistake. Not that I saw.

Funny thing is that is her true nick name.
I was so convincing because I got really into character. When my girlfriend would go to work, I would search for her bra(s) and lip stick. Sometimes I would drive around at night and pick up strange men as Mistress Justice. This simply has caused too much sexual confusion for me and I think I need counseling now. ALL because I wanted to try out what it would be like to be a lesbian. I hope you will still accept me as my true self. Although I am not sure what my true self is any longer.

Vouchers w/ 2 conditions:
1: Government gets NO say in curriculum. Whatsoever!
It’s a private school.
2: Any school may refuse to take the vouchers for any reason
or no reason at all.
I know many in the private school community who have a moral objection to taking gov’t money. They should not be punished for a stand on principle.

I can see the problems with vouchers being considered Gov. funds. They should come with NO STRINGS ATTACHED to government rules other than they are for schooling, period. To prevent faith-based schools from having to capitulate to so-called anti-discrimination, or quota garbage.
But I do think that there should be standardized tests for at least Reading, Writing and Arithmatic.

A note on bank lending and the economic forecast.
A continuing mantra from the MSM and those parrot heads in congress is that banks are not lending to the consumer.
For once these geniuses are partly right, banks, really any lending institution, are not lending to consumers the way they were, say ~18 months ago.
Ask your self why?
The answer should be clear.
Is it because the banks are evil and just want punish little ole grandmothers clutching their purses.
That may well be the picture a Barney Frank or other politician would like to paint. It is not the true reason though.
Those with money to lend understand that “we” the consumer, after everything that has happened these past several months still do not get it.
The lending institution a borrower wants to borrow from is very concerned, now, about whether or not you could actually pay it back. And if their opinion of the unemployment rate is that it is going higher then they are not lending to anyone whom they consider at risk for that job loss.
And the fact that a borrower is in their office today for some sort of loan is a good indication that they may be in trouble already.
The world has changed, they actually want to lend money to someone who can prove they can pay it back. That is a good change.
Besides if the borrower needs it badly enough, their are probably some “Hard-Money” lenders in your area who will take a look at the loan.
dadinseattle #115 thanks for the heads up on the conservative bloggers designation of 22 November as “Victory in Iraq Day.” One of the young ladies in my Squadron safely returned from a 365 day deployment yesterday it is fitting. Now to get the rest of our troops home (a guy can dream) before the coronation of Obamalamadingdong gets anymore of them killed by embolding our enemies. With a pick of Shillary as Secretary of State I bet they are just wetting themselves with laughter.

For what it’s worth Michelle I would love to get to know some of the fresh conservative faces out there by holding a conservative conference I am sure your reporting on some of these personalities would give us hope as America enters into some very dark days ahead. We need to be introduced to more people like Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal and get away from many of the old timers that are conservative in name only (CINO).

Why is it taking so long to train the Iraq military. If we take a eighteen year old kid, put him thru boot and sent him out into the bush, they’re seasoned. Is it the lack of officers in the Iraq military or what?

Familyman from my own experience in the Air Force depending on the specialty it can take 2 – 4 years to end up with a full trained and experienced journeyman level product. Some of our technical training courses run up to two years not to mention the cost and effort it takes to train the stick actuators (pilots) who have a commitment of over 8 years (not sure what the current commitment is I have been out of flying too long) once you graduate to your assigned weapon system.
I can’t really speak for the Army, but from talking with soldiers when in a Joint-Service special duty assignment back in the late 90s it could take at least 2 – 3 years to produce a competent war fighter that would stand a chance of survival in his first engagement.
One other thing you have to remember we have the best educated and professional warfighting force on the planet. Our military professionals are all volunteers, which gives a pretty good return on investment rate when you look at the level of troops that chose to reenlist and make the military a career. I just hope enlistment and reenlistment rates hold despite the fact Obamalamadingdong will soon be the CINC in January.

I would like to see more sets of data on the study of IQs by Profession. 115 that is an average IQ I believe so who are they the so called Mainstream Media to dictate their likes or dislikes to us The American Public? Example The President Elect? They sure like to discuss people’s IQs like George W Bush’s supposed low IQ, where they have no factual way to measure his IQ, they make one up based on non data they can’t obtain. To date I have not seen any of the people we keep being told have low or high IQs Test, released with Scores. So what are we looking at? Subjective observation?..I believe junk science peddled on the Internet, buyer beware.

Many of them are likely socialists/statists also.
Their larger union, the NEA (and likely the other union, the AFT) which in ?some/?many?/most? localities they must pay ?partial/?full? dues to, even if they do not want to, sure seems to be.
And, while they may not be good, socialists/statists are certainly not stupid (see the results of our recent election); and, as the verrrry old saying goes, they know on which side their bread is buttered.

I’m fairly surprised that MM and HotAir haven’t shown any interest in the issue of the multiple lawsuits (2 of which have reached the Supreme Court) challenging the “Natural Born Citizen” eligibility of the candidate known as Barack Hussein Obama (also known as Indonesian citizen Barry Soetoro).
The blog Texas Darlin (a PUMA Democrat) has been following this issue from the beginning. The issue is about more than just Obama’s photoshopped Certificate of Live Birth. His (presumed) father was a British citizen at the time of Obama’s birth, making Obama a dual citizen of both the United States and Great Britain. Divided loyalty at birth means that while Obama may have been a “native born” US Citizen, he was not a “Natural Born” US Citizen.

The government is sloppy. I used a Certificate of Live Birth in place of a birth certificate for almost everything–SS number, driver’s license, etc. I was a kid and didn’t know any better–I thought it was the same thing. It wasn’t until I applied for a passport that someone finally questioned it. I wonder what Obama used to get his passport.
