Turkey jive: Palin-bashers strike again; Update:NYTimes editorial board decries “executions”
Scroll down for updates…

Gov. Sarah Palin pardoned a turkey at a local farm in Wasilla and then took questions from a reporter about the event and her Thanksgiving wishes.
Palin said with a smile: “It’s nice to get out and do something to promote a local business and to participate in something that isn’t so heavy-handed politics that invites criticism. I’ll certainly, probably will invite criticism for even doing this, too, but at least this was fun!”
Palin was prescient. On cue, the Huffington Post hyperventilated about the SLAUGHTER! going on behind Palin and the rest of the squeamish, PDS-infected blogosphere followed with horrified rantings about the governor’s callousness. You’d think Palin was standing in front of the camera soaked in blood like Sissy Spacek in “Carrie.”
Farmers kill animals. Then they sell them. Grocery stores package them. Meat-eaters buy them and eat them. This is no big deal — except if you reside in the Ivory Tower or the David Brooks/Kathleen Parker/Arianna Huffington/Daily Kos intellectual complex.
PDS: It never ends.

If you’ve got a favorite turkey recipe — casserole, deep-fried, mmm — feel free to share.
Mark Steyn mocks the “nancy boys.” Snort.

Update: The New York Times editorial board decries the “execution” of the butterballs. Did David Brooks sneak into the ed board’s office and pen this turkey of an editorial?

A Sarah Palin Thanksgiving
By The Editorial BoardWe’ve differed with Sarah Palin a great deal on substance. We don’t agree with her hardline approach to the Iraq War, her harsh anti-government rhetoric, and her style of negative campaigning.
But we also worry a bit about, how should we put it, the persona she has brought with her to national politics. We did not care at all for the swipe she took against community organizers at the Republican National Convention.
And then there’s this. You don’t have to be a huge animal lover to question why Governor Palin chose to be interviewed — while issuing a traditional seasonal pardon of a turkey — while turkeys were being executed in the background.
I guess they’ll all be going tofurkey this Thanksgiving.

This is an opinion site. You do know the difference between oped and news, right?
Except for the agenda driven elites, yes they were pretty stupid, check the zogby poll on how Obama got elected.
More like How Obama Got Elected.
Stupid, stupid people.
All you left wing whacko’s on here, that would be you MissJustus, lgm(legally gone mad) and other closed minded bigots, if Gov. Plain is such an dolt, idiot, unsophisticated, out of fashion, dunce, backwoods hick, why is it you and all the LameSM are spending all this time and money trying to run her into the ground and bury her? She and McLame lost, remember?
Wait, I think, I know, your all scared $hitle$$ of her and what she has done to the conservative base of the American public, not to be confused with the Republican party.
Now, every bite this Thanks Giving I want you to think of the Good Guv. standing in front that slaughter shed and be thankful someone has the get up and go to raise those turkeys, kill ‘em, clean ‘em, get ‘em to market and probably in most case for you fools, get ‘em to the restaurant for your turkey day dinner and remembering she will be back.
Enjoy Your Thanks Giving Dinner
I’d like to see a poll in about 6 months of all those who voted for Obama who now wish they hadn’t.
The other night I caught david letterman (haven’t watched him in years) he had katie couric on and they spent the major part of the interview skewering Palin. They have to be afraid of her, they just will not let it go.
Hey Blame, I think a lot of them already are, right on cue after the election the Justice Bro’s, Ayers and all of the other bad associates and cronies started coming out of the woodwork. I can see them slapping their stupid heads saying “what have I done”. Yeah idiot to late now, all it would have taken is about 10 minutes of their own time to look into “the one” and see how much of a piece of garbage he is.
Fools all of them all….
BAL, you won’t be able to find anyone that voted him in less than a year.
I really do not understand this notion that mocking an imminently mockable public figure means you must be “afraid” of them.
By that standard lgm must be the Dread Pirate Roberts of these waters.
There was about a two or three day period right after her nomination that I feared Palin. That went away pretty quickly.
That was only because you remembered who her running mate was.
I bet she makes moose a lil nervous.
lol
They’re scared of Palin. If they were paying attention to all the gaffes Joe Biden was making, it pales in comparison.
I saw that clip from Letterman, and it was idiotic. Who watches that guy anyway? I sure can’t stay up that late.
aj, no doubt, we know she makes the dems nervous
Turkeys deserve to have a place in this world…right next to my mashed ‘taters and gravy!
The HuffPo’hos would never consider eating turkeys, I guess…they may not be the brightest bulbs in the lamp, but they aren’t cannibals.
By all means please call our bluff and trot her out as your nominee in 2012.
REALLY. You really don’t understand that mocking is a method of pulling down someone who is potentially dangerous in the future.
Or a method to get easy laughs.
How soon the left forgets. Doesn’t anyone remember how they mocked Reagan? Saying he was stupid all the time? And how he went to a no name college like Eureka? Yet, he ended up being the best president at least in my lifetime. Sorry Jimmy Carter, you can’t even compare.
To the left, if you haven’t attended Princeton, Harvard, Columbia, Yale, etc., you’re not “worthy”. Nevermind a lot of successful people in this world never finished college in the first place.
These are the elitists that make up the Obama administration. A bunch of elitist people who think they know what’s best for the rest of us second class citizens.
Scary is El Skanky as SOS.
and the Obvious, Odopey as our President…. this is a horror movie for the ages.
chapoutier
Obviously you are not a person of strong moral values, otherwise you would see why we’re pleased she is now in the national spotlight.
Gimmie a stump and a hatchet and I’ll show you what for……..
Nice try, but that doesn’t work, barring any unforeseen circumstance at this point, that’s who your going to see.
I can’t recall ever saying I was.
Really. I am not trying to pull the old “reverse psychology” ruse. that only works in bad sitcoms.
Those that mock Palin and don’t understand the roots living and breathing there are in for a rude awakening. Those that are afraid of her now will become more afraid of what is in office in the coming months.
What conservatives left in this country are looking for is someone that holds dearly to what our forefathers fought and died for. Not the middle of the roaders, if we all come together fluff, nor if we concede on some points they’ll meet us in the middle mantra. If Biden’s predictions come true, and we are hit again with another/bigger 9/11, that coupled with a crippled economy, is going to be very hard on our new regime. After all, when you have a messiah in residence at Pennsyvania Ave. nothing bad should happen. It’s not allowed.
There we are folks. A social pervert.
I am a pervert only in private and the sweet anonymity of the internet. Socially I come across as quite normal.
Self delusion
Laura’s on Mr Bill’s program, too bad she doesn’t have a show of her, instead The BOR
Oh, Go Plain!!!
Later
I prefer peanut.
ooop Go, Palin!!!
No, more like perpetually drunk.
No offense Chap, but it wouldn’t take me or any one of my kind to smell what you are no matter how much you think you can hide it.
Is it the whiskey breath or the smell of cheap perfume from the strippers that tips you off?
TXVET – you might look to the book of Genesis when God, after He created the animals said, “And it was good.”.
Bingo…Letterman’s not very funny to begin with. Whether he has writers or does his own schtick, there is a plethora of funny gaffes from Biden to choose from. The fact that someone like him is biased to the point that he is stuck on Palin means she played a huge psychological impact on him. Dan Quayle was a butt of a lot of jokes as well, but the day after Bush Sr. lost in 91, we never heard about him again.
I could never “get” Letterman. What is so great about him? I think Leno is funny, but Letterman comes off as a gap toothed moron.
I think he has a thing for Palin. He just can’t help himself.
You get him…
The little trolls aren’t much fun to play with tonight.
Its supper time. See ya
I am sorry. Were you expecting me to e-stomp my e-feet and throw and e-tantrum in response to your silly taunts?
No, we only expect that from LGM, Nyk and MJ. You don’t fit into the “typical” model.
Cheers to all the knuckle-dragging,gun-toting, Bible hugging, trogdolte Republican carnivores who eat turkey (not the tofu kind) next Thursday!
Do the swooning Palin-haters think turkeys are euthanized? My great-grandmother, so I have been told, used to just grab innocent chickens by the neck, twirl them around a few times- breaking their little pea-pickin’ necks–boil em, pluck ‘em, fry ‘em, and eat them. I would hasten to bet the ancestors if the shocked vegans applied the same technique or go hungry.
If the horrified liberals don’t eat turkey, are they still pro-abortion and late-term abortion advocates, or, like Obama, feel leaving premature infants in utility units to die is humanitarian? Guess the turkeys are more important beings than little humans.
I bet they wouldn’t get this worked up if they knew how Baby Oil was made.
Where in the world do these people think our turkey dinners come from? What a bunch of maroons.
We will if I have anything to do with it. I will by God do all I can to not let the media pick the conservative candidate. Then watch when she sends your guy packing.
BTW Chap, it’s the cheap perfume. Or is that just normal bottom feeder lawyer smell?
No. Normal bottom feeder lawyers smell is flop sweat tinged with the fear of being discovered as a fraud.
Unfortunately there is no breath mint to cover that up.
MSNBC is still having an orgasm with this…. What tools, turn a blind eye on all Odopeys misgivings, associates, all around lack of experience for doing anything of substance his entire career drool all over the man then don’t have anything better to report besides their continious bashing of a hard working Governor with more charm, charisma, intellect in her pinky than all the lowlifes at that network combined.
What they do to journalism should be a crime. Ignorant immature rantings of zero value whatsoever, kind of like the person they were in the tank for the past two years.
I have to admit, that made me laugh
AJ, change the channel. Don’t torture yourself anymore.
I was just surfing by.
no worries, Never spend much time there.
I like to eat turkeys.
MJ I expected better of you debate-wise tonight…oh well…
Frankly MSNBC has become a joke even to the public…I wonder why…
I think it’s a tax write off.
Where do these rubes think MEAT comes from!? I am SO DONE with television in general. I wish we’d all just pull the plug. Buncha’ #@$&%( (*&^^&% @!**#!! ‘journalists’. Makes me swear.
I thought it was great that she skewered Community Rabble-rousers at the Republican national Convention!
Come on… this interview was a pretty bad job.
Here’s Palin talking away with a reporter while some guy who looks like he’s from a weird version of the Newhart show throttling turkeys in the background.
A poor choice of camera angle – that’s for sure.
Did Palin not know what was going on behind her? Did she not know that this sort of video would cause an MSM frenzy?
Sarah – you remain the one bright spot in what was otherwise an awful election season but, hey, a little better judgement – OK?
So if one is going to pardon a prisoner on Death Row, does one go to the Mall? Or does one go to Death Row?
If one is going to go and make some stupid little show out of pardoning a turkey at thanksgiving…a tradition that was begun a few decades ago to appease these tofu eating jerks in the first place and make people feel all warm and fuzzy inside, does one go to the local supermarket? Or would one go to the turkey processing plant where the turkey who is to be freed…one that was born and raised just so that it can end up on the table, plucked, decapitated, gutted, stuffed, cooked at 325 degrees for 20 min. a pound and surrounded by gravy, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce…is standing around…dumb enough to drown in the rain, waiting for a repreeve from the Governor to wander around the rest of its natural life never even having the slightest clue what has happened to it?
I dunno, but the last time I checked, the only place a person could go and free a farm-raised turkey from the slaughterhouse would be exactly where she was. If someone knows someplace else, I would like to hear it.
After all, it is not as if she had been elected President where they bring in the best looking turkey from some farm some where that was raised specifically so it would look good for the Presidential Photo Op that it has become.
Yikes, a little unpleasant reality for the tender sensibilities of the masses. Now we know where meat comes from. Next lesson is where the welfare check comes from.
I think that this a major “party fowl” on the part of the MSM, don’t ya think?
Sorry, guys, couldn’t resist.
Before the turkey is deep fried.
1. Make sure it is defrosted
2. Before you heat/boil put the turkey in the pot and add water until you reach the desired “water line” remove the turkey and that is your oil line when it comes time to cook.
3. Place/remove the turkey into the oil slowly that will help to prevent any flame ups.
Should we explain to them now where babies come from and who and what it takes to get them there?
(Hint: It is NOT a village effort, though their hero Larry Flint may wish that it was.)
Where do libs think food comes from?
I know, I know, the grocery store, but I mean beFORE that…
Leave Chap alone. I encourage his dissent. He actually presents logical arguments. Maybe he can ‘infect’ others so we actually have discourse.
I believe Palin was more than 15′ away. Oh, wait, that’s for abortion clinics.
More proof the NY Time has run it’s course and needs to be “funneled”.
That guy in the background with the turkeys – and mind you I’m just sayin’ – but does anyone know where Dick Cheney was at the time?
I believe he learned discourse at Georgetown. First you take discourse then you take datcourse…
The government.
I like chapoutier. I disagree with his politics, but he does make me laugh
The others though, make me shake my head in wonder sometimes.
Me too, he/she/it reminds me of those fluffy white things that were behind Gov. Palin. They’re only truly useful once you cut their heads off.
Actually, there has been one or two times when I have forgotten just which side Chap is on based on his posts.
AlohaGuy, if the libs and PETA have their way, food will come from the government…in vegetable tasting pills, loaded with vitamins/minerals and other nutrients, 3 times a day. Of course, they may decide to take the idea from Switzerland, where plants have rights, and not have any taste at all. Having any meat will be prosecuted as a felony.
For those offended by the slaugher of animals, I suggest you eat nothing, NOTHING, involving the labor of animals, such as eggs, cheese, bread…
You know what? Just shut up and die. People eat meat. Meat comes from animals. Animals have to die for this.
It’s normal, you damn hippies!!
Dead on about the welfare check, EM!
Look at the freaky dude, who looked like someone from a bad T.V. show, putting the turkeys in the chute to cut their heads off with so much flair. Makes me wonder if the whole thing was set up to embarrass Palin. Watch how the guy keeps looking back and even nods at someone facing the governor as if waiting for his cue to start killing the birds.
Bye now. I am heading out to the woods to hunt and maybe even
harvestshootkill a deer. Yes, I overslept a little and am getting a late start this morning.Someone please execute more turkeys. I am getting hungry already.
I love animals… Right next to my mashed potatoes.
But we do know where all the free turkey comes from that feeds the welfare masses on Thanksgiving. Take a vote . . . do they want to give up a free meal to save the turkey?
All this brings to mind Gov. Palin’s father’s bumper sticker.
And yet the continued blood bath of our young, and the end of viable human society that is the gay/lesbian lifestyle continue to escape their notice. Brilliant.. .just Brilliant.
I dislike the NY Times as much as anyone (particularly can’t stand wussy Nick Kristof) but having grown up having a cousin in law who operated a pig farm, I have some sympathy for at least the hog world (chickens and turkey, who cares?). But as a child I used to visit my cousin in law’s pig farm in Florida twice a year. The baby pigs would give you total love and affection. They would sit on your lap and just be as friendly and loving as any child would ever want. Even when the piglets became regular hogs, they still had distinct personalities and contrary to popular belief, the hogs are very smart. And they are not as messy as people believe. My cousin in law eventually stopped letting me go on his Florida hog farm because he couldn’t bear the sight of kids crying when the pigs were slaughtered.
I recall as a young boy going to the farm to buy chickens. Their throats were cut and blood drained then bagged up. When we got home, we had to pluck the bird if we wanted to eat. Living in the countryside is great training for life issues.
Poor libs will never understand.
Since everyone else is covering cooking their turkey in various ways I’ll tackle the post-Thanksgiving problem … all that left over turkey …
After everyone tires of the turkey sandwiches we make the following casserole …
Ingredients:
Leftover turkey meat, chopped
One green bell pepper, diced
One red bell pepper, diced
One medium onion, diced
One stalk celery, diced
One 4 ounce jar mushrooms, diced
2 cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 cans condensed cream of celery soup
2 cups milk
Salt and Pepper to taste
2 Tablespoons Italian Seasoning
One 8 ounce package long pasta, cooked
(thin spaghetti, fettucine, linguine, etc., work best …)
Toppings:
Mix together:
2 Cups Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
1 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
or
16 ounces Grated Cheddar Cheese (use enough to cover casserole completely)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cook pasta according to package instructions, drain and place in large mixing bowl.
Mix turkey, peppers, onion, celery, mushrooms and seasonings with pasta.
In a separate bowl mix soups with milk, then add to pasta mixture. (This is done separately to ensure it gets combined completely.)
Add soup mixture to pasta mixture.
Place combined mixture into a greased, oven-proof casserole dish.
Bake covered with foil, reflective side down, for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and cover casserole with your choice of the toppings.
Return uncovered to oven for 8-10 more minutes until topping browns or cheese melts.
This casserole can also be frozen and saved for later use. Be sure to cover tightly to prevent freezer burn.
I remember hog killing time when I was a boy. One man would shoot the hog, another would jump the fence with a knife and slit its throat. Then when the hog was dead, we’d soak the carcass in scalding water to remove the hair, then hang it up and gut it. What was wierd was even though the hog was dead, its lungs were still exhaling air. It sounded like the dead hog was breathing.
Of course that night we’d have fresh pork. All winter we’d have smoked or sugar cured ham, sausage, bacon, ribs. Nothing went to waste. Even the entrails, that is, chit’lins were used. So were the head, the lungs and the liver.
Ah, the good ol’ days.
Of course they are afraid of Sarah that is why they are desperately trying to eliminate her before the next election cycle. In case you all haven’t noticed….the msn does not like conservatives that attract attention. They are in the process of picking our next candidate, maybe they will let us run John McCain again? But they are not going say one good thing about any conservative who will stand up and defend themselves. It appears that it is going to be harder to get actual unbiased news do not look to msn to give any……
Not only is Palin a strong woman, she’s authentic. MSM is not threatened by the liberal floozy women like Pelosi and Clinton. Notice how well Pelosi’s role model book sold. I doubt that there will be many women copying Michelle Obama’s style. Sarah is selfmade, which is more than I can say for Obama himself. Further, she’s not a lawyer; one who is trained it the arts of spin, deception and outright lying. In an attempt to discredit Sarah, the MSM will keep her in the public eye while exposing their own hypocrisy.
One more little thought…in the big city food comes from the grocery store, there is NO dirt, NO blood, No diesel involved. They really do not know….. but they are the only ones who can save the planet, And they can do it without food?
From what I hear, talk of this video agitates libs like MJ and lgm to no end. I hope it airs somewhere a million times a day, like Seinfeld.
If you ever needed an object lesson on the difference between Sarah Palin and the idiots of the left, you have one here.
Sarah Palin goes to a turkey farm, pardons a turkey, and then knowingly conducts an interview as the rest are slaughtered in the background. She is not going to hide the unpleasant aspects. She is going to tell it like it is. You want turkey, somebody has to kill the bird, unless you want to do it yourself. This is how it is done.
Democrats, on the other hand, would pardon the single turkey, and then pretend that all the other turkeys are free to grow old and die of old age. They concentrate on the image, and intentionally hide the reality.
Gawd, I love Sarah Palin. When the cameraman pointed out what was going on behind her as they were setting up, she said “No problem”. She’s absolutely right. No problem. I am looking forward to my turkey next Thursday. I only wish I was lucky enough to live near that farm, so I could get one that fresh.
This is a tempest in a teapot. These people bashing Palin need to get a life.
That one made me laugh outloud…good one!!
The “SarahCuda” may very well be the next Ronald Reagan. Her opponents on both sides of the political spectrum have started trashing / marginalizing her to try to keep her out of the 2012 election. Real conservative Americans like her style–she has more executive branch achievements than the O’Bummer–our next president.
The Left wants to talk about animal and turkey rights–and to sweep ABORTION under the rug by calling it CHOICE. Apparently a dead (and delicious!) turkey’s life is worth more than an unborn baby’s (not fetus’s) life. What a value system!
John Bibb
The horror! They killed a turkey the week before Thanksgiving!
/sarc
Who are these pansies that think they can rewrite tradition and change something that has been going on since Plymouth Rock?
I’m sure they were compliant to the fairness doctrine by also showing the blurred out video of babies being killed in the womb and sucked out. Oh wait…we don’t have a national holiday that celebrates abortions (thank God).
What boffoons these ilk are.
Heh. I just read your post, rocket. Apparently we’re on the same page here!
Forget Palin for a minute. It’s VI-Day!!
http://www.zombietime.com/vi_day/
