Dim bulb to light dim Capitol Christmas tree
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will light an “energy-efficient” Christmas tree at the Capitol this week.
It will be draped with environmentally correct LED lights, according to The Hill.
This will save tons of energy, so that Pelosi can jet back and forth from San Francisco in her ginormous plane.
Embrace the eco-farce.

Right after the dim lighting the dim, she hops on her taxpayer supplied 757 and it’s back to California. Compare that to the GM execs who are getting all the grief for their little puddle jumper jets.
I wonder if she’s using LEDs or CFLs at home, or in her non-unionized restaurant/winery or in her office?

Two reasons: I can hook a heck of a lot more strands together, and they don’t burn out nearly as much.

The Curtiss Jenny J-4 was a biplane built by Curtiss Airplane Co. in 1915. They were used a lot for hauling air mail from 1918-early/mid 20’s.
After lighting the tree maybe instead of flying on her plane she could get a ride with Santa.

You know, they can’t keep the outdoor Christmas trees with LED lights lit. Because they have so much less juice running through the wires, squirrels chew through them without getting shocked.
I don’t think that is a metaphor for anything, just an interesting tidbit.
Actually, I don’t have a problem with this, despite the fact I detest Pelosi. I’ve used all LED’s on my tree and decorations since they first appeared 2 years ago and love the damned things. Even my flashlights and computer desk lamps are LED’s. NOT because I’m concerned about “Climate Change” or whatever the current buzz word is – but because they are more efficient, last tens of thousands of hours, have better color clarity (IMO), and are just easier to use. Plus you can put a thousand lights on an average tree and only need maybe 2 plugs!
Not to mention Kwanzaa is a Swahili word … most slaves originated from Western Africa. Well, Christmas is going to be fun this year, I’m going to be soooo freaking NOT PC.
Hate to disagree with you in the actual execution, but I must. First, I have to state that, so long as the focus of the users is on the “greenness” of the LEDs, it’s at best misplaced.
However, the manufacturers do make rather bright LEDs nowadays. Partly because they draw less electricity, and partly because the radiated light is in a tightly-controlled range of wavelengths, LED lights are less of a fire risk than normal lights. Also, LEDs last longer than incadescent ligths.
Of course, LEDs don’t lend themselves to the bubbling lights some of us have.
Would that be like Spanish people celebrating a Russian holiday? I mean they are all Europeans aren’t they?

I am for all types of conservation and the tree is ok with me but why are they not concerned of all the energy that the illegal aliens will use when they come here? What about the future illegals and legal immigration when they come here? Does Nancy P. think that they are not going to use any energy here? Does she want the population to resemble communist China? Doesn’t she and the rest of pro illegal types realize that a larger population will consume more resources and use up alot more energy? Then she has the gall to have “energy efficient lights”. This is funnier then hell.

Interesting that LED technology has progressed to Christmas lights. When they become practical for lights, I will give them a look. As BlameAmerica points out CFL’s are dangerous beyond belief.
Anyone mandating those things should be shot.
LEDs will be here shortly at a reasonable price. Right now the bulbs that mimic the regular incandescent ones are around $50 – $100 per bulb. However, they do use 70 – 80% less energy than any bulb, and last forever.
Philips LumiLEDs division is working on bringing the LED technology to the home. Right now they are available in Europe, but not yet in the USA.
I hope she’s not standing on wet ground holding that plug in her hand… heh heh heh….
