Obama wants his Blackberry back

Keeping in touch with the little people
Barack Obama told Barbara Walters he wants his Blackberry back. Apparently, he has been negotiating to keep it in order to stay connected to people outside his immediate White House circle:
Obama Trying to Keep His BlackBerry
Obama said he was concerned that the isolated life of a president would limit his access to information from outside the bubble of the White House.
Throughout the campaign, Obama was often seen communicating to staff members via his BlackBerry, a convenience the president-elect may legally have to forgo, and one which he indicated he was negotiating to keep.
For national security purposes, a president is limited in his electronic correspondences for fear of hacking. Additionally, presidential communications are strictly monitored and archived for historical purposes.
“One of the things that I’m going to have to work through is how to break through the isolation — the bubble that exists around the president. I’m in the process of negotiating with the Secret Service, with lawyers, with White House staff … to figure out how can I get information from outside of the 10 or 12 people who surround my office in the White House,” he said.
Like his uhhh, old friends back home in Chicago, perhaps?
“One of the worst things I think that could happen to a president is losing touch with what people are going through day to day … ” he said. “I want to make sure that I keep my finger on the pulse of the struggles that people are going through every day.”
Does this mean his illegal alien Aunti Zeituni has his Blackberry addresss?

Afterthought: Will the same people who lambasted Sarah Palin for keeping a personal Yahoo! account and using her Blackberry attack Obama for “evading public disclosure,” too?

Reality bites!
I can just see this little sock puppet playing on his Blackberry during “negotiations” with Iran. What a dork.
I bet his half brother would just appreciate a hot meal and a non-dirt floor!
As long as the records are kept. right, right???
Oh thats right he is a dem, they don’t have to obey the law.
Poor baby!
I wonder what exists around his half brother’s hut – tarantulas, vipers and lions perhaps?
I wonder what exists around his aunt in her public housing unit – drug dealers, thugs and prostitutes perhaps?
Hey, BHO, as noted, the main reason why that law is in place is to protect you. Try thinking of your family and those protecting you first for a change.
If you just read this on your Blackberry, shame on you.
Every foreign intelligence service on the planet is hoping he keeps it.
You know, the same folks who monitored every unsecure phone conversation Between Bill and Monica and then later monitored everything Monica said to mommy and all her friends.
This is a measure of how ill-equipped and ill-prepared Obama is for any serious adult work.
Who does he know that is strugglin’ day to day?
Must be a slow day in the vast right wing conspiracy…
Didn’t he call on the citizens to make sacrifices? There’s one for you, BO.
No matter how hard I try…I just can’t seem to avoid Barbara Wa Wa. We give this woman wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much print space and media space.
Some how or another, this has got to be Bush’s fault.
Who was the governor who used a yahoo account for government business….I’m trying to think of her? She was someone for a couple months but is quickly fading….
Sorry, my sympathy quota has been used up for the year. Obama is SOL.
If you cut the puppet’s strings he will fall on his face.
Don’t worry about it, Silky. You’ll have eight years to learn her name as of 2012!
Ahh, the utter joys of self-delusion!
Excellent point!
Also, if he keeps his Blackberry, I would suspect that those servers that handle Blackberry traffic are already targeted by Soviet and Red Chinese hackers. (Yes, I meant to say Soviet). Making the Blackberry network unattractive for US business to use.
Um…not unless they don’t understand what a Blackberry is or what it does. You use your Blackberry mostly to receive calls and retrieve email remotely (you can go online as well, but it’s still fairly slow at that). There’s nothing inherently wrong with a President elect wanting to check his email while not planted in front of a monitor. Using a Blackberry (what Obama wants to do) and conducting government business via a web-based personal email account (what Sarah Palin did) have zero to do with each other.
I hope the O’Bummer can tell the difference between the “NUCLEAR FOOTBALL” enter key and the Blackberry enter key. Pressing the wrong button could have some pretty bad consequences!
John Bibb
Big Cheif to ACORN… Big Cheif to ACORN…come in ACORN. Over.
He’s King Obama, so he has special privileges. Of course, he’s an idiot for doing this, but who are we, the little people, to criticize King Obama?
Cheif=Chief. This #&!$ Blackberry!
It wasn’t exactly government business. And whether it was or wasn’t, still doesn’t justify her account being hacked; least of all, not by the son of a Democrat.
Translation; ” I’ve surrounded myself with Clintonites and you’re telling me that I DON’T get a lifeline!”
Shouldn’t it be Oak Tree to ACORN?
Well except for the fact Obama is disclosing and planning this before the fact, presumably to make sure his communications would be in compliance with the laws whereas Palin’s unlawful account was discovered after the fact by an admittedly criminal third party.
But other than that, its totally the same.
Sorry, nyk. Didn’t read your (better) post before posting.
This is just comical. Hyde Park plus exclusive private school for your kids does not equal “man of the people.” He thinks he’s Che Guevara, but is more like Marie Antoinette.
A vision of that Burger King ad flash by in my mind’s eye! The title fits.
Should be but too obvious
NOPE. You don’t even understand the irony.
I’m gonna have to side with the King-Elect on this one. The Presidential Records Act is nothing more than an assault on the Separation of Powers that came to pass solely as a result of the hatred of Richard Nixon. Nixon Derangement Syndrome perhaps?
Regardless, the PRA severely limits the use of executive privilege, which is real. A president needs to be able to communicate candidly and openly with whomever he chooses without always having to be concerned about how it will look if/once it’s made public.
Remember, it was the Carter administration that signed it. Just because it’s been a law for 30 years doesn’t mean it was ever a good law.
His head is bigger than that King.

I do not think Blackberry messaging can be made secure enough for a head of state to use to communicate with anyone. Those in his contact file could be subjected to blackmail or worse.
Calling Tennyson Hayes, are you out there?
Maybe he just likes the name, Black Barry. HAHAHAHA
From Obama’s Blackberry archive:
Achmed, the camel flies at midnight.
The foreign intell guys would be doing cartwheels and back flips of joy to know that a President has a Blackberry.
We call it TV.
What a whiner.
Barry, you wanted the job, you got the job–now you gotta do the job. Don’t like the job? Shoulda thought of that about three years ago. Suck up and deal.
He’ll be President. He can have his buddies come to the White House and talk face-to-face. Maybe he’s afraid someone will think he’s actually getting his marching orders from Bill Ayers, or worse, Hizzoner da Mayer Richard “Little Dick Shortshanks” Daley.
ECS
I don’t see why an arrangement can’t be struck with whoever the service provider is to archive such communications. In Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted because he was stupid enough to use city-provided cell phones to talk and text message dirty with Christine Beatty. By agreement with the service provider, all transactions – including the contents of the text messages – were logged. They were obtained via an FOIA request by the Detroit Free Press.
A $12.00, untraceable WalMart phone, and Kwame would still be in office. But I digress.
Anyway, there’s already precedent and ample infrastructure in place to maintain records of communications conducted in this way. Rather than waiving the accountability requirement, it would be smarter to look into archiving and logging capabilities already available.
Unless, of course, there’s some other reason for secret communications…
chappie, what was illegal about sarah palin having a web site. according to the CRIMINAL DEMOCRAT who hacked into it looking for dirt and illegal stuff, all it contained was family stuff. her government site was where she rightly conducted state business. lord you people have to quit getting your FACTS from snl, huffandpuff, and dailycause. try to keep a little of your vast level of skepticism and cynicism for things you read on those sites and not just here.
I think BB communications (maybe not all) go through Canada. Do we trust Canadians with our President’s communications? Facetious question, but no….
Why do you need a Blackberry, when you only use it to send one recurring daily e-mail to one guy?
TO: George Soros [imsocialistbigtime@hotmail.com]
SUBJECT: What Do You Want Me To Do Today?
Yeah, I have one of those unlawful Gmail accounts too.
To: The “President”
SUBJECT: Please sit at the Children’s table, Hillary will handle
If he can’t use his Blackberry, (Blackberry? Is that racist?) How’s he gonna contact his mule when his coke supply gets low?
TO: George Soros [imsocialistbigtime@hotmail.com]
SUBJECT: What Do You Want Me To Do Today?
HAHAHAH!
Looks like Obama doesn’t take his job too seriously, and once again, his inexperience is showing big time.
Is he stupid or what? What part of NATIONAL SECURITY did he not get? Just one slip up on that Blackberry, and he’s screwed. We’re all screwed. What if he loses the damn thing?
Put it away…I know he’s the You Tube candidate, but give me a break!
Perhaps he cannot live with out Arianna Huffington’s daily texts….?
Barf.
Fair enough “Palin’s unlawful use of a gmail account.”
Mules only carry it across the border. They don’t deal. Obama may however, have difficulty reaching his candy man. In the future, please try to keep colloquial terms related to the cocaine distribution chain straight.
A mule is a carrier, on the street it is usually a minor. When the cops bust the dealer, he’s clean. If they bust the minor, well, he’s a minor and the dealer scoots.
I want my mullet back.
You’re right! How dare she have a personal account to contact friends and family members!
Oh wait…she didn’t have a Gmail account, she had a Yahoo account. And she never committed any crime with it at all.
Keep trying though; you’re a nice bit of amusement today.
Sammy Davis Jr.?
I’m the one who introduced “Gmail” in, but you are correct, she didn’t commit a crime.
I would love for him to keep it. This could only mean trouble for Obama eventually. In two years, if The New York Times is still in business, we can read on the front page the messages between him and his way too far left friends (as if the media would do anything to hurt their annointed one).
Do you get the feeling that Obama doesn’t know what is really involved with the position he campaigned so hard for for the last few years? And everyone complained about Bush taking all those vacations….
Remember those guys who were asked to put them on a table before they went into a meeting? Was that in Mexico, and someone tried to steal them.
The Israelis would love it though – my guess is they can listen to your BB at will…
Seance, anyone?
Nancy: I see a pack of rats.
Obama: Sammy, are you there Sammy?
Dean: He can’t come to the phone right now…what can I help you with?
MichelleO: Ask him if this designer dress makes my butt look too big.
I don’t buy that, he just doesn’t want to give up his toy. Get used to it Barry, life is about to get very lonely.
But after all you’ll have Michelle and Rahm to talk to…….ouch, sorry!
God, please be with the Secret Service. But for those brave protectors, our new POTUS would have unfettered contact with the America-haters on the unfringed Left. Please, God!
Slow news day?
No doubt, Obama will be the first President to Twitter, as he did during the campaign. So we’ll all have instant access to news about what The One had for breakfast.
Gravitas!
For everybody in the know, these little toys are called ‘CrackBerrys’.
And everyone also knows how hard it is to put the crackpipe down once you start.
Intel services definitly will salivate. In the black craft every stinkin’ detail of a persons life is relevant.

Here’s an idea for how to stay in touch:
Read the paper!
The One wants to be the first with a laptop on the Oval Office desk. He may also place his weekly radio address on YouTube.
King Obama. Yes, all Elitist want to keep in touch with the “common people”.
Yes, Palin is fading, slowly, like Ann Coulter. Happy Wednesday!
“Obama, this is the Secret Service…. STFU… you’ll let us do our job and you’ll like it….. or when you will be blackmailed, threatened or stalked, you’ll do it on your own…. tough guy.”
Sometimes I think this guy ran for president just for the fun of it. Now that he’s in, he’s saying, “Oh s**t. What have I gotten myself in to?!”
Yes, Obama, it is lonely at the top. You knew it.
He’ll be using it to invite Ayers and Rev Wright to spend the night at the WH.
Wright will be there within the first 100 days…mark my word and gird your loins.
You’ve forgotten that in the “bizzaro world” the libs live in a conservative breathing is considered a capital crime.
This is SO STUPID. The Blackberry’s microphone can be remotely activated even when the phone is turned off. That means that Obie’s discussions can be covertly monitored even when he’s not using the phone. What a techno-ditz he is proving to be.
I think he wants his Crackberry so he can get his standing orders from William Ayers.
I hope he does manage to use his Blackberry while in office. I will get a good laugh when the first foreign intel group gets a hold of some of his personal data and starts posting it online for the world to see. This is a great idea Barry!
Well, he did say he was bringing “change” to the White House
Oooh nice, The president elect of the United States is now a security risk. Does anyone here realize how easily a Blackberry is hacked?
With that thing in his pocket he’s a walking intelligence leak.
Good Lord, where are those “Shoot The President, It’s Cool” nutcases that have haunted GW now that we need them?
Damn, and people like Stinkyinfamous think conservatives are dumb! What a freaking moron! Why didn’t we just elect Jim Carrey? At least he can make funny faces between punchlines.
Off Topic:
Looks like B. Hussein Obama’s spiritual brethren are running amok in India tonight.
Maybe he’s keeping up to date with his Blackberry.
Don’t mind popping a few bubbles, but President Bush has already been photographed at his desk in the Oval Office, using a PowerBook, in 2001.
Cheers
That is a good point. However, Blackberries are a touch more vulnerable than a Power Book and the tools available even to the average script kiddie are better now than they were seven years ago.
Not only that, but there is a difference between a laptop in the Oval Office and a Blackberry that is out in the open.
Morning stretches?
I get it now Chappie. You must be bipolar because every so often you have a sentient thought. But for the most part you exhibit what we all have come to loathe about lawyers. Right and wrong don’t matter, it’s all in how you spin it to your advantage. Criminal lawyers suck the most.
Not only can it be hacked into to give your LOCATION but it can be turned on remotely to LISTEN in on conversation. All this without your knowledge. Which is why cell phones are not allowed into certain rooms for certain meetings.
I’d bet all the muslim buddies B. Hussien has made by getting elected are hoping he is successful in keeping his Blackberry. It’ll make keeping in touch much easier. Good thing he’s going to be riding in that tank of a limo. His naivety will cause him to need it.
Are you saying I am wrong about Palin?
It is fact she was sending government emails over a private account.
It is fact this is against Alaska public disclousre laws.
It is also a fact that she not-so-coincidentally had an aide research if emails from a private account could be subject to investigation or subpoena. Right around the time she opened up the private account from which she sent government emails.
Was “sentient” enough?
At least Obama is taking whatever steps necessary to make sure he can securely and legally use his Blackberry. Everything above the board and in plain daylight. If it turns out it can’t be done legally and/or securely, I suspect they won’t let him keep it.
Break through the isolation, huh? Well, you wanted it, now you got it so quit your whining. As a security measure his blackberry should be confiscated and deactivated. Rahm Emmanuel will tell him everything he needs to know anyway.
On November 27th, 2008 at 10:58 am, chapoutier said:
Yes, you are by framing out of context her use of private e-mail in her daily business routine; Gov. Palin’s e-mails were innocuous and little more than hello memos to a few close associates – they were hardly the state secrets you’re making them out to be!
I’m not saying she was completely right to use her private account in contacting state employees but when the e-mails were of such a low-level, non-sensitive nature, why not? In fact, I think it is unrealistic to expect anyone who’s leadership skills are as driven and instrumental as Gov. Palin’s to self-regulate every e-contact they make, just to ensure it complies with the state’s “best practices” policies; A-types aren’t wired that way.
Obama is not the sagacious genius you’re building him up to be. Like Dick Morris said on H-C the other night, Obama has been built up to such heights and expectations that it will be impossible for him to succeed and makes his eventual downfall even more definite and profound. Morris also predicts BHO’s approval rating to be at or below twenty percent by mid 2010.
Nope. Was lawyer enough though. You simply must get over your Palin derangement Syndrome. You might also try not worshipping “The One”. It’s sooo unbecoming.
Only the inbox was with the sender/recipient and message line was exposed. You have no idea what the content of those emails were. Which is kinda the point of keeping such emails ENTIRELY off private accounts. And you are not the least bit suspicious that she was in fact researching if such emails would be subject to subpoena? Why would she be concerned if they were just shout outs to her friends?
Lets look at some of the emails she sent:

Are those just friendly “hello messages”?
No. It is not “best practices” it is the law.
Not sure what any of this has to do with the fact that Obama is seeking to make sure he is in compliance. But of course if Dick Morris says something, it must be true. Like when he said this:
Spot on, Dick. Spot on.
Apologies for the double post.
Please Patriot, continue to engage in your hero worship/middle school crush with Palin and ignore the incontrivertible fact (”fact” is lawyer-speak for something that is true) that Palin broke the law in this regard.
Just admit it. Doesn’t mean you have to be bffs with Obama or heart Palin any less.
Fact: I’ve been married to the same God fearing lady (yes, I do differentiate between ladies and women) for almost 30 years. So your attempt to bring infatuation into the mix falls a little flat. With that said, there is no shame in admiring someone of character. Sarah is as close to a conservative as we have had in a long while. Too bad she was anchored to a RINO.
Your hero, on the other hand, seems to lack good character. Read 1 Corinthians 15:33.
Last but not least, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your’s. May the day be filled with joy. No kidding.
