Black Friday kills
Free advice: Stay home today. People are insane. This is insane.
A worker died after being trampled and a woman miscarried when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart Friday morning, witnesses said.
The unidentified worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.
Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.
“He was bum-rushed by 200 people,” said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. “They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too…I literally had to fight people off my back.”
…Before police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk’s life.
“They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. “People were still coming through.”
Only a few stopped.
“They’re savages,” said shopper Kimberly Cribbs, 27. “It’s sad. It’s terrible.”

A Wal-Mart employee died.
Female shopper has miscarrige due to the chaos.
Doors completely knocked out.
This is not the work of a human being or animal.
This is the work of monsters and barbarians.
Sorry…I started to go through the postings, but decided to forgo them and just report that in Riverside County, there are two people reported murdered in a Toys R Us store after being shot. There is no other information available concerning this.
This is an issue I have been noticing more and more in the recent couple of years.
People in this nation have completely lost all concept of kindness, courtesy and the like. Rudeness and uncaring is the norm these days. All one has to do is get in their car and they will experience it. People driving tend to think that they are the only people on the road, that there is no one in front, behind or next to them. As far as letting anyone in? Forget it. I have witnessed some of the most dangerous driving imaginable simply to either prohibit someone from getting in front of them while merging on or off a street/highway, or to keep them from exiting or making a turn.
In the stores, people again wander around as if they are the only people in the place. They stop in the middle of an aisle, park their carts in the middle so that no one may go around them, refuse to move out of the way regardless of how many times you say, “Excuse me” and try to pass, will not even consider allowing someone with only one or two items to go ahead of them in line when they have an entire cart load, will take forever to either get their money out or use their card…all the while either talking on a cell phone or BSing with the checker.
Helping someone? Don’t make me laugh. People will go out of their way to avoid even pretending to notice someone in need of help. I have witnessed countless times where an elderly or disabled person requires assistance of some nature and people completely ignore them…however there will be quite the crowd gathered to gawk and make snide comments when help is being given.
Considering I live in California, this big `ol bastion of Liberalness, one must ask themselves where all that caring for their fellow man is? It is only made worse when you look at the young people of various ages…it is even worse in them, which can be expected when you look at what the parents do, how they act etc. Children learn more from observations then from being told..and when you consider what they must be learning from the examples of their parents, you can only imagine what they will be like once they become parents themselves.
I have no other remedy to this other than to give people a good swift kick in the a$h. Common courtesy is now an oxymoron as it is no longer common at all. When a simple act of kindness can be portrayed in the news as something special these days, it says more about our society and country than anything else I can imagine…and even those reports are far and few between.
One of the many, many reasons my husband loves me…
I would rather have my teeth drilled than go to a mall for any reason ever. And I’m lucky enough to live near a couple of 24/7 Walmarts, so I have the luxury of being able to do my shopping (especially at this time of year) at 2am after the barnyard animals have been locked up.
These incidents are a disgrace, and one of the reasons that I (unlike most people I know) really hate this time of year.
People just suck.
CantCureStupid - I am also one of the rare women who HATES to shop and can’t stand Malls.
And yes, men like this quality in me. lol Until I tell them I hate sports too. Fortunately there are quite a few men who don’t like sports either. I see both things as a mindless frittering away of valuable life.
RetFireman,
You just summed up why I left California. Unfortunately, that behavior is common all around this country; you can’t escape it. I’m trying very hard not to let the world make me cold, bitter, and/or uncaring, as it seems kindness is now taken as weakness. There is a penalty for trying to be meek and generous. People will simply take advantage if they can (in LA, this is considered a good thing). Worse, they will behave like a petulant child and excuse their behavior. If you don’t tell them not to do something obviously rude, they blame you for not telling them.
Blinkers? What are blinkers? Nutjobs will weave in and out of traffic just to get a few carlengths ahead, sometimes with their entire family in the car. It’s a small thing, but it definitely speaks to a larger issue. Most of us don’t care about what happens to anyone else, as we are so self-absorbed. We have lost our way.
But, we are blessed, and hope springs eternal.
There is information regarding the Palmdale shootigs online.
There was no miscarriage.
Purplepeep,
Shhhhh! Your age is just fine. I loved those Mom & Pop stores. It did cost a little more but the service was great. I’ve been into to so many stores which have youngpups who don’t care to know where anything is in the store and don’t really want to work hard. I prefer quality products and good service over cheap prices anyday. I’d rather do without than to shop just anywhere.
I have to say that my daughter and I joined the insanity. But all of the stores were were at, including Walmart, were calm and orderly. Most people seemed to be very pleasant and the workers helpful. We had a good day together.
I do wish more stores were like Target though, they stopped the Friday doorbusters years ago in fear that someone would get hurt. They do 2-day sales instead.
HA has a link to a cell phone video of the CPR attempt on the guy. You can hear a man commenting in the back about how the life savers are racist for not giving him mouth to mouth, even when the BVM is being pulled out. The standard now is compressions over breaths even up to 30 to 1. Besides, today, I don’t care who the person is, if I don’t personally know them, my lips are not touching theirs. Anyway, I predict that this will be a big RACIST incident.
Cmills, I believe the man who was killed in the stampede wasn’t a Walmart employee, but a temp hired by them.
Also, the pregnant woman and her baby are both okay. Or as OK as one can be after even being near such a scene!
Yup, Rambler, and you could actually talk with the Mom and Pops if you visited often enough so they knew you. Never get a cheerless, forced “Happy Holidays” outta them!
I used the same words along with a few choice other ones that decorum keeps me from repeating when my wife asked me to come by the local Wal-Mart in the middle of nowhere Idaho to pay for a computer system she wanted to buy for our son at about 0930 hours this morning. We were almost run over by a couple of anchor babies (old enough to know better) that are badly in need a good session in manners behind a wood shed. I have to agree with RetFireman rudeness has become the norm for behavior in this country. Normally I would have stayed home preferring not to have to suffer this conduct. This will be the last time I go out of the house on Black Friday until public safety and the rule of law will be enforced. Not holding my breath on that one.
Mrs. Boomer said it was pretty crazy when they opened the doors at 0500 hours, but she played it smart and hid in the back of the Bakery (she is the department manager) when Hell was unleashed upon the other employees. The upside for our area there where no fist fights this year like there was the previous one, but I can’t get over the fact someone was murdered by the mob at the store in Long Island.
I wonder if it is time to establish fully armed and manned fighting positions like we have at the gates to most military instillations to fire into the herd when they start to stampede like the mindless savages they are for next Black Friday. The liberal left and their good friends in the NEA have worked wonders in breaking down morality and etiquette in our society.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE (mo-lone lah-veh) Translation: “Come and Take Them!”
Another thing, if you watch the video, this was a huge guy. He was really big. If he was stampeded to death, then these savages intentionally ran over him once he was down. Unbelievable.
Watch the video of people laughing with subtle accusations of racism while this poor guy is dying on the floor.
I give us another 25 years before we move to third world status in most of America.
Wow so people decided to assault and kill others to save a few extra bucks.
Wow.
I shop online but I also shop via stores… and I would never ever … assault people to get someone half prices or even free.
Im surprised no person came to the aid of That Walmart worker.
Next time Black Friday comes around they should have Police at every major chain store (walmart, target, jc penny, etc.) and start tackling and arresting people who use force to get further in the line.
Since it hasn’t been mentioned before;
My heart and prayers go out to the victims, and even for the souless indivduals who caused their injuries and death. May Yeshua have mercy on their souls.

“This is Sparta!”
Call me a scrooge, but I’m beginning to think that a recession will be a *good* thing. Maybe it will help people to put things in perspective.
It’s sad…Peter Mayle wrote about aggressive holiday shopping in the appropriately titled essay “In Defense of Scrooge,” saying that there are animals with charge cards out there, and their motto is “Peace on Earth! Good will towards Man! GET OUT OF MY WAY! I SAW IT FIRST! IT’S MINE!!!”
As for me, I wait a couple weeks after Thanksgiving to do my shopping. It’s a lot less hectic, and I can still find what I’m looking for. As for this story, I’m sure it will be fresh in my mind this shopping season, and I can only wish that it wasn’t true — even though it so painfully is.
*out*
This is why I do most of my shopping online or at local mom & pop stores. Hubby and I rarely go out anymore. People are too rude and self centered. I’m afraid of what my husband is going to do. He has no patience with rude, inconsiderate people.
CCS, yes indeed, people certainly do suck (or, as Jesus might say, “they sucketh”
)
Why God love us is beyond me, but somehow He does. Thanks, God!
Word of advice: if you’re ever in any kind of a stampede and down on the ground, turn on your side and go fetal, covering your head with your hands. Your survival chances go way up.
My Mom works at a Wal-Mart in Omaha, they stayed open Thanksgiving day,
to avoid the door rush at 5:00am.
They did some sort of ticket or voucher for whatever the hot loss leaders were this year( I don’t know what it was this year). There were injuries at the Nebraska Furnature Mart electronics store a few years ago, so most retailers here are safety conscious.
Any chance of filing charges on the trampelers based on videotape?
If retailers find this a boon to their bottom line, then it’s misplaced. I’ll certainly think twice about the time of day I visit a superstore or mall. Perhaps to get this sort of thing under control they need to do away with the ultra bargains and freebies. How utterly stupid to leave yourself wide-open to lawsuits - plus the ones with real money, and hot to spend it, won’t come near you because of the bad publicity.
Made a couple of comments on the later thread, but it appears to me these groups are mobs on steroids. Shop online….you’ll never be assaulted in the parking lot at least.
Because you’re His child…

It is deliberate.
People encouraged to wait outside until the very early opening (4-5 hours early)(if you are not used to getting up that early, you are not as sharp as a consumer).
Now.
Very limited quantities of heavily discounted items.
First grab may retain possession until you reach the cash register (staffed by the newest employees as their “trial by fire” and really slow and unfamiliar with how to do what may need to be done)
Also, items on super discount may not be anywhere near the department you would expect them to be located.
Possibly good prices on brands you have never heard of before, but if you stop to examine it closely somebody may beat you to the very limited quantity of the super discounted item you wanted in the first place.
You had better just grab it and hope for the best or return it later (right)
So you race through the store Hopeing that they still have some of what you wanted by the time you get there so you don’t have to Change your mind.
As I said, it is deliberate.
A competent shark type personal injury lawyer should be able to make Wally World squeal hard and long.
jhn1 - You sound like an ambulance chaser. How would any of those strategies for selling absolve shoppers for their own behavior? Why are you blaming the retailer for people’s greed and despicable behavior. Wal-Mart didn’t trample someone to death, the shoppers did by placing material greed ahead of human life.
These things happen at soccer games and sports events around the world too. Should those deaths be blamed on the owners of the Soccer fields or teams?
It’s unreal how willing so many are to immediately blame Wal-Mart. You’re saying that Wal-Mart somehow forced those people to trample another human to death.
good for you Joy.
The only sports I have any respect for are high-school and below athletics…so much of pro-sports is in fact anti-competitive and just marketing to keep ALL the teams in business..like pro-wrestling
I’ve always been turned off by the excessive commercialism of Christmas and try to keep it simple. I am not a Scrooge that wants to put an end to Christmas shopping and fun, but the amounts people spend on presents has ballooned in the past 20 years to a conspicuous shopping mentality that seems more like temporary insanity. The obsession with the hot gifts of the year, reckless credit card spending and the Black Friday madness of the past few tears is something that adds a harshness and stress to the season that I completely avoid. A few simple gifts that are within budget for my closest loved ones is all I do. I understand that most people like spending more and that is their right. But how is is so many people are willing to stand in line for hours and go on a rampage to buy the latest gadget, which in 6 months will be outdated and available at half the discounted price on Black Friday? What sort of madness has overtaken this country?
Years ago I decided that Christmas had become over commercialized. In our home we limit the number & size of gifts. The presents are not the reason for the celebration of Christmas.
The whole secularization of Christmas, or the Xmasation, has degenerated the holiday into the season of materialism. I can see where children get overwhelmed with a bunch of toys and gifts that in less than three days mean absolutely nothing to them. Even the most wanted gift becomes of less importance than if the child had earned it and would be more appreciative. The simpler the celebration the more enjoyable it becomes.
I have gotten to the point where I don’t want anything, but to enjoy the time with my family that is normally hard to come by.
As usual, I’m commenting late on this thread, but I want to say that I concur with the sentiments of those who believe that too many Americans are rude and selfish. I could devote a lot of words to address my views on the phenomenon, but I’ll spare everyone from that (you’re welcome). I briefly foreshadowed this yesterday in my comment on the open thread, so let me just add that I’m disgusted by this yet not surprised in the slightest. One death, even one injury, as a result of SHOPPING is one too many.
However, as I also mentioned yesterday, I decided to see what the big deal was with Black Friday, so I went shopping bright n’ early this morning on my own. I arrived shortly after the official Busting of the Doors at 5 am, so I didn’t have to stand outside freezing my derriere off. The store was indeed a madhouse. I didn’t have much to get, and I beelined as straight as I could to get where I wanted to go…then stood in line for over an hour to reach the area where I could acquire what I intended to buy.
If you stand in line for any long period of time, you tend to get to know the people around you a bit. Instead of perfunctorily grunting and ignoring the others in the line, I talked to them. The time still dragged along, but it went by much faster because of the pleasant people standing in line with me. One of them even held my place in line so I could briefly check something out nearby. I think we could find something in common as we all took a step forward…waited…waited…took a step forward…waited some more…
By the time I got what I wanted and arrived at the register, everyone near me was talkative and jovial. Well, except for the mother of the child whose ear-piercing screams of displeasure made me wince. One minor detail: I was literally the lone white guy in the mix, making small talk with the Latinos, blacks, and Asians who were in line with me. (Before you say that I’m overdoing the patting myself on the back over my “tolerance” or “acceptance of diversity,” or what have you, I only felt the need to point out the detail because of the haters in our midst.)
Now far behind my excessively-planned schedule, I went to the next store, finding exactly what I wanted, then I went to the back of the checkout line which ran all the way to the back of the inside of the store. Again, I struck up conversations with the people around me. Behind me, some men with thick Middle Eastern accents and I talked about the deals we found, and I discussed politics at one point with the white people in front of me. Even though we didn’t see everything eye to eye, the political conversation never felt anywhere close to becoming a dreadfully heated discussion. Further back in the line, the people who stood in silence as they inched their way forward resembled a bunch of hairy green Muppet creatures living in trash cans.
After about a half hour, I parted from these strangers to buy my stuff, and I noted to the cashier that I wasn’t miserable yet, and she said she agreed. An employee at another store later expressed the same sentiment to me, yet she did say that she saw someone yank a product out of a stranger’s hands earlier in the morning, even though more of the same items were nearby.
As I was leaving, I wished one of the people I’d been talking to a happy holiday. She corrected me by wishing me a merry Christmas.
The remainder of my shopping went well. The lines started to die down around 11 am, but store employees and customers continued to be friendly and helpful.
I dunno, maybe I was lucky. But it didn’t occur to me until I began this comment that I encountered a true melting pot today, a pot that never melted down into hostility. Shoppers apologized to each other, offered advice, said “thank you,” and helped each other out. Store employees where I shopped were like that, too, mostly. My attitude is that people still kinda suck, but today was evidence that, even in trying circumstances, people will treat you how they want to be treated. I hope this stays the rule and does not become the exception.
And I found most of what I was looking for. I completed my Black Friday goals by buying a few more things online when I got home.
In the age of asinine YouTube comments and Facebook peer-networking and so forth, don’t forget the importance of actually speaking kindly to the stranger standing beside, behind, or in front of you when you venture away from the cyberworld. I’m sure I’ll have to remind myself of that many, many times in the future. Take those lemons in life, squeeze ‘em, add some sugar, and stir it up. You never know. It might taste pretty good. You gotta add the sugar, though, or else the lemonade will just taste sour.
I definitely wrote much more than I intended. I hope I didn’t sound too lame. I’m tired. It’s been a fast, interesting day. Nighty-night.
imagine it’s found out Odumbo is not eligible to be president…is he dethroned?
rightisright - They won’t do anything. Because most people won’t care that he was never elligible. All they care about is there is a black man who is POTUS.
Experience? Who cares.
Associations? Who cares.
Widespread Fraudulant Voting? Who cares.
Elligibility? Who cares.
What would be criminal for a conservative, is perfectly fine for a leftist/Democrat because, well, just because! And if you say otherwise, you’re a RAAAAAAAAAACIST… and a BIGOT to boot! Dontcha know.
Wow. People being a–holes in NYC. Now there’s a surprise.
Not just kindness, but honesty. I cannot tell you the amount of times that I have been viewed as some sort of freak once people find out just how honest I am and do not lie. Apparently people who are genuinely nice and caring as well as honest are now the freaks in our society. Funny thing is, more people do not trust someone who is honest than trust someone who is not.
As for the whole “racist” issue due to not providing Mouth to Mouth on the guy…NO ONE is to receive direct Mouth to Mouth during CPR or Rescue Breathing. Due to Hepatitis and other communicable diseases, it is no longer taught in EMT or Paramedic schools and for the last few years is not even taught in basic CPR courses. CPR Card Holders are encouraged to go out and buy face shields which go over the mouth and protect the rescuer with one-way valves and protect them from body fluid exchange. Besides, the one thing they do NOT teach you in those courses is that anytime you give Artificial Resuscitation, the patient WILL vomit, and I cna think of very little else that is more gross.
Now, here is the BIG question for the little race-baiter/Obama Supporter…what was he doing standing there watching? Why was he not helping this person prior to EMS arriving on-scene? Why was he not over there providing CPR? Could it be that he is just another typical person who loves to criticize and whine and complain but would never be caught dead actually taking part in the assistance of a fellow human being?
This makes me wish so much that I was there so as I could give him a proper education and demonstration of what an idiot and absolute human wase evacuation organ he truly is…and not without bodily harm to his person.
And Joy…I DO NOT like sports, otside of watching an occasional 49ers game should it be on and nothing else is or watching the Super Bowl. Other than that…sorry, but I would rather play than sit around and watch.
I know, I know, I’m a freak. I cook, clean, do laundry and raise my kids too.
RetFireman - I know what you mean. One time I was in Home Depot to look at home fixtures for a house I was having built. While waiting for the builder I grabbed a switchplate cover I needed.
By the time we were done we just walked out talking and it wasn’t until I got to my car that I realized the plate was in my hand with some brochures and I hadn’t paid for it.
Not only did the other customers laugh at me when I went back in to pay for it, but the cashier herself said she wouldn’t have bothered since it was only pennies.
Sheeesh. Honesty is honesty.
1 man was trampled in a stampede on Black Friday. Sad, very sad. Meanwhile, in other news, nothing happened in the other 20,000+ stores that were open early.
Nothing happened in 20,000+ stores nationwide.
Meanwhile the avarice of a crowd of stupid, self-centered and mindless neanderthals cost a man his life over something they didn’t need in the first place.
They was gettin their black Friday shoppin thug thizzle on, fo shizzle.
This is insanity ! The dumbing down of America continues. You can get most of the big sales online without leaving your home. I got a number of great deals online on Thursday with free shipping.
I couldn’t agree more. I work part time in a high end retail store…even there women are sloppy, careless and rude. I don’t have an answer for the maddness either. I couldn’t imagine walking over the top of someone or walking past while they were fighting for life. It makes me sick to my stomach. God help us.
Our family stopped the commercialized gift exchange about 11 years ago - once everyone passed the “Santa” stage. Since then, one sibling takes a turn selecting a charity for the year and we pool our money, which is then matched by my parents. In the 11 years, we’ve given over $12,000 to organizations such as Heifer Foundation, Wounded Vets, Breast Cancer Research, Alzheimer’s Foundation and the like. From this, my kids who also participate, have a solid understanding of the meaning of the Christmas holiday. I plan to continue the trend.
God bless and watch over the family of the WM worker, and all retail employees who have to deal with the crazed masses.
I know I have said it before, but you, sir, are my brother from another mother!
You only left out the double door syndrome: where one door will be open and nobody will open the other door, preferring to fight to squeeze through the one open door (naturally, I open the other with a “they both work!! How odd!! commentary).
There is also the example of children I see in Hartford, that unwrap an item, then just casually toss the wrapper aside without a single glance.
Need I mention people with cigarettes, that consider the world their ashtray, even if it is your yard and they are invited guests?
As a veteran of Boston driving, I can tell you some stories….. lol! And yes, I AM judge and jury!! LOLOL!
A close examination of the tapes of the crowd in that fatal Walmart are very revealing.
Video from inside the store as the crowd crashed into the store
I don’t know why anyone would go to a black Friday 5 AM sale at a store that isn’t open 24 hrs - especially at one of the mart stores (K/Wal).
It’s a part of our Thanksgiving tradition to go to the black Friday sale at Super Wal-mart, open 24/7, but we handle it in a sensible way: we enter the store at 12 or 1 AM, load up on what we want while everything is at regular price but in full stock, and then wait until it all goes on sale at 5 AM to checkout.
This way, we avoid the fights and trampling, and stand a better than even chance of getting what we want.
Black Friday shopping can be done safely and with great savings, but it means missing out on some sleep.
I’ve read some of the comments here about the “bum-rushing” folk who snuffed out the poor Wal-Mart employee (barbarians, insane), but I just want to point out what is obvious as to the photos of these individuals prior to their rampage.
I do not have to go further in describing them (to those who went and saw the photos). These are the folk who have lived a lifetime of being told that they are disadvantaged because of their race, that they are in perpetual victimhood, and the simple fact of the matter is that they expressed their victim status in their wanton murder of that poor worker. These are the folk who agree with Jeremiah Wright’s expressions of “U-S-of-K-K-K-A,” and “GOD DAMN AMERICA…THEY’RE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE…”, and they live in perpetual rage because of their firm belief that they live in a state of institutionalized racism and persecution.
I’d also like to point out that it will probably only be a matter of time before pointing out how “insane” and “barbarian” these folks were will be termed as “racist,” because of the makeup of the mob. The leftist’s Balkanization of America has done it’s work in grouping every race in the land in camps of Black communities, White communities, Asian communities, and Latin communities–all who are at odds with one another (especially against “the White community”). No longer are we AMERICANS, living as a single people under a stated purpose founded in liberty and freedom.
America as it was founded is dead, and nothing will revive it. This is a sign of the end of civilization and civilized human behavior. Enter a dark new age.
Just about 6 weeks ago, I was in the WalMart by me doing some quick “Just Need one Item” shopping. I had picked up an item in the Pharmacy section and realized i wanted to go look at a few things in a couple of other sections of the store. As my mind is always someplace else over the last year, while I was going through the store, I was thinking of something and absentmindedly placed the item in the front pocket of my “hoodie”. I still cannot remember doing it, and completely forgot all about it.
After I got home, I was pulling my sweatshirt over my head, and thought, “What the hell is this in my pocket?” To my horror, I removed the item I had placed there, ironically the thing I had gone to the store for in the first place. Seriously, I was mortified that I had “stolen” something. I told my daughters…the ones who I have raised to understand that even taking one or two grapes in the produce section is considered stealing…and they couldn’t believe it with my 17 year old laughing at how distressed this made me. It was already too late in the evening to go back, and they wanted to know what I would do.
I told them that the next day I would go back to the store, tell the emplyee what I had done, and hope that they did not make a big deal out of it.
So, the next day, I went back and fortunately the person at the door was busy and I did not need to present it to her. Instead, I went and got a couple of other things and took it to the register, placed it on the belt and paid for it. I felt that since it was an honest mistake, I could feel no guilt in avoiding the embarrassment that God seemed to want me to avoid, and I no longer had to worry about having “stolen” anything…conscience clean.
And I could also go home and se that tube of toothpaste, because even though I was going to pay for it, I just couldn’t even get myself to open it as I had not paid for it and technically it was not mine.
My estranged wife considered me stupid for having sweated something like that and thought I should have just kept it and not done anything about it, considered it a free item. However, that would be the basic difference btwen us, as I refuse to EVER do anything like that, could hardly lecture my children on honesty and not stealing or anything in that area had I done nothing, becoming a hypocrite right in front of their eyes.
And yes, i will even return to a store to correct a change issue if I get home and discover that someone has given me too much change back…if it is not caught right there at the store. Every time I do, there is ALWAYS someone…more likely everyone within earshot…who will state how they would have kept the money and not given it back with the reasoning of, “Hey, it wasn’t my fault, it was their mistake”. And each time, I just shake my head and feel that much more sorry that people in this country no longer follow, let alone know, what the “Golden Rule” is anymore. Especially since it is forbidden from being displayed in classrooms across the country.
Honesty, integrity, and devotion…things which seem to no longer exist in this country and anyone possessing such things is treated like a leper. Yeah…something is most DEFINITELY wrong in this country, and from the looks of the Obama rallies and victory parties, is in no way about to make a comeback. The theme that I saw from all of those things was a resounding, “I.G.M.-I GOT MINE!”
The FUIGM (FU I got mine) principle is alive and well in the US today. We are returning to the days of Noah. Praise God, Jesus will be returning soon!
Here are some more demonstrations of people being courteous, nice, not pushing, shoving, etc., etc., etc.
All these were taken yesterday.
This one starts at the 4 minute mark, but the build-up prior…well, what can one say…all over flat screen TV’s.
In Elk City, Ok…well at least this one has a sound track. Pay close attention to the people getting slammed into the door frames.
You know, I really had to think hard about posting this one, since the language is so…”vibrant”…but this is in Queens, apparently, where they broke down the doors, the cops had to come, and the WalMart employees climbed up to higher ground in order to escape being injured.
The camera operator decided to leave when the cops arrived for some reason that apparently had to do with not wanting to be seen by them. To me, it appears that these guys were there simply to cause trouble.
And what was all that for? For a TV? video game? Was any of it really worth it? More importantly, how many people that actually participated in yesterday’s idiocy will sit down and think abot where their priorities lie? How many of them will think abot the fact that they turned into complete animals, at a fresh kill over material things that they truly, honestly, did not NEED.
My guess is…NONE! instead, they will go home and complain about how people were rude, pushing, shoving, and what not, never once realizing that they, too, were behaving in a similar fashion and by their very participation in it, by the fact that they decided to go to these stores and fight over a freaking television or video game not only turned them into the lowest denominator, but actually put people’s lives and welfare in jeopardy.
To listen to the comentaries on these videos, to hear the people talk can only lead to depression over what has become of people. Sorry, but I thought that the “N” word was a bad thing…yet how many times was it heard in these videos? How many people were…to put it bluntly…absolute SAVAGES!
God help us all if there ever is a true crisis in this nation. This had nothing to do with “self-preservation”. Can you just imagine what it will be like id and when such a thing happens that makes it so?
Me? I stayed home with my daughters and watched movies and the like. Heck, “Mork And Mindy” was being shown for 24 hours on SciFi Channel. yet somehowm after watching hours of mindless drivel on TV yesterday, i STILL feel vastly more intelligent tan ANYONE who participated in that demonstration of an “Animal Planet” feeding frenzy.
With sadness, I must agree with you. I do have hope though that something good will come out the other side. Much pain, suffering, and personal sacrifice must first take place.
Hey don’t be too hard on those people. Sure together they killed a man, but individually they each only committed 1/50th of a murder or so…
/sarc
Seriously, I hope that there is some way to make them pay for this. Anyone who was part of the mob is morally culpable and guilty of at least manslaughter. They behaved like animals, allowing greed to overpower their rational minds and a man (and if the story is correct an unborn child as well) is dead because of it.
I have read on several sites that the sales were the problem and that Wal-Mart caused it.
Well if Wal-Mart is to blame, which I do know subscribe to, then so is eBay.
Which could be said to encourage the resale of the limited low cost items Wal-Mart offers.
If it true for one then it must be true for the other.
As for me, I place all the blame on the human offal who actually placed their hoofs on this man.
No sale or no amount of hype could force a rational human to do what these dregs of society did.
I’m from Boise where holding a door open for someone is a common courtesy. When I was in San Fran I held the door open for a woman at a store and was castigated as some sort of freak. She actually asked me ‘what the f#ck is your problem…?’. I knew people in the big city were hard folks but man…that was just too much.
It’s sad that doing something simple makes you a criminal suspect….
The only way to take back our country and start the healing is to put animals like these in cages and keep them there. These are not good citizens, they are the dregs of society that only take and never give anything. This country does not need them for any purpose whatsoever. I’m not sure even re-education camps would save them, but maybe it is worth a try.
Black Friday - RAAAAAACIST!!!!!!
Y’all are missing the point. These folks had to break things, damage property, hurt people, trample each other, and kill that worker so they could get these meaningful items to give to family members and friends in the true spirit of Christmas.
Just think of it as a consumer bailout with collateral damage.
Sorry folks, if an adult individual cannot assess the danger of a huge crowd all wanting the same damned TV set then that’s just too bad. Never ever do I go into a crowd and never ever do I go into a building where I don’t know where the exits are. Crowds and fenced in areas do not compute! Rule number one - stay away from crowds!Period!!!
PS, why are you all blaming the herd mentality? The herd has no mentality!
on a somewhat related and equally crazy story…
Meltdown fallout: some parents rethink toy-buying

NEW YORK – In a season that inspires earnest letters about toys, one notable batch is being sent not by kids to Santa’s workshop but by parents to the executive suites of real-world toy makers.
The message: Please, in these days of economic angst, cut back on marketing your products directly to our children.
The letter-writing initiative was launched by the Boston-based Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, which says roughly 1,400 of its members and supporters have contacted 24 leading toy companies and retailers to express concern about ads aimed at kids.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to purchase many of the toys that my sons have asked for; we simply don’t have the money,” wrote Todd Helmkamp of Hudson, Ind. “By bombarding them with advertisements … you are placing parents like me in the unenviable position of having to tell our children that we can’t afford the toys you promote.”
The Toy Industry Association has responded with a firm defense of current marketing practices, asserting that children “are a vital part of the gift selection process.”
“If children are not aware of what is new and available, how will they be able to tell their families what their preferences are?” an industry statement said. “While there is certainly greater economic disturbance going on now, families have always faced different levels of economic well-being and have managed to tailor their spending to their means.”
In recent conference calls with investors, toy company executives said they expect to suffer some holiday-season impact from the economic crisis, yet suggested their industry would be more resilient than many other sectors. The toy industry is commonly viewed as recession-resistant, due largely to the parent-child dynamic.
“Parents have trouble saying no,” said Allison Pugh, a University of Virginia sociology professor. She says parents often buy toys to avoid guilt and ensure their children feel in sync with school classmates.
“Even under circumstances of dire financial straits, that’s the last thing parents give up,” said Pugh. “They’ll contain their own buying for themselves before they’ll make their child feel different at school.”
Amanda Almodovar says she encounters such families in her work as an elementary school social worker in Alamance County, N.C., where homelessness and unemployment are rising.
“I had one parent who said she’d prostitute herself to get what her child wants,” Almodovar said. “It’s heartbreaking. They feel inadequate as parents.
“I try to tell them, worry about your home, your heating bill — but they’re the ones who have to look into children’s faces, the children saying ‘I want this, I want that.’”
Even in some households not in fiscal crisis, there’s a sense that this holiday season is different.
John Schenkenfelder, a financial adviser and father of three in Louisville, Ky., wrote a blog entry this month urging families to scale down their gift-giving and spend more time playing together.
Joy, my question asking: “is he dethroned?” I was asking what we could expect if he was found ineligible to be president and he was removed(which of course he wouldn’t/won’t be) from office. The L.A. riots would look like a warm up to what would happen across the country…these types have burned their neighborhoods, think they’d stop at burning their country…their GD America country?
Don’t anyone bother telling me, I’m a RACISSST…pointing out the truth, that does not make me or anyone else a racist…GOT IT! That crap doesn’t fly with me.
Since we are telling the truth now, which is RACIST today and I am proud to be a RACIST, uh, truth teller…Your comment scrap could have applied to a hurricane katrina ravaged New Orleans.
Welcome to 45 years of government entititlements. ‘I gots to gets mines’ is the creed of the welfare state. At some point we need to consider a mandatory spay/neuter program for these welfare scumbags. No matter their skin color. They have de-evolved into primal riff-raff and need to be eliminated from the gene pool. If pointing out the obvious makes me racist, then so be it.
Sympathies to Mr. Damour’s family.
travlinman,
One sensible policy to deal with welfare takers would be to disallow them from voting. It just makes sense. Anyone who can vote themselves “free” money will vote with their own bests interests in mind and not the best interests of the country.
Of course this could be taken as a racist statement, except for the fact that it applies to any race that acts this way. The FACT that so many in this particular case at WalMart were black is just a FACT. If they had been predominantly white, my comment would have been the same. Anyone who acts this way needs to be taken out of civil society for the good of the whole.
Agreed, happyscrapper. A similar fact is to avoid any street named after Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, or Cesar Chavez. …especially after dark. Call me a racist for saying that, but I’d rather be alive than politically correct.
Whoever knocked down/ran over another person to get into a store, your name and face should be on TV. We should all know who you are. You should never be able to show yourself in public again without feeling humiliated. And you should have criminal charges filed against you.
Whatever you bought or wanted to buy, was it worth a human life?!
Just sayin.
