Where in the world

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 28, 2008 04:00 PM

Hope you all are having a good, safe post-Thanksgiving Friday. I’m scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon around 4:20-ish pm Eastern. Was supposed to talk about Citibail and its credit card hikes on responsible borrowers, but the Wal-Mart stampede has superseded that.

FYI, the Black Friday riot phenomenon is nothing new. Watch these videos.

Really? Why? What is more important to a majority of people? What will be more important in a week? A month? A year? Good grief. MSM.

MM, at the risk of not being invited back, ask the talking head that you speak with, which is more important?

The wife dragged me out kicking and screaming to go shopping. I hate it to the very fiber of my being. Anyway, BestBuy, Walmart and Target were overcrowded and out of the digital camera we were trying to find for our son. Stopped at a Staples, no crowds and penty in stock, and found the particular camera cheaper. This Christmas shopping is for the birds. I hope the Lord realizes that all this greed and avarice is not being done in his name. People are losing their heads everywhere. Shopping this time of year is more pain than pleasure.

I just saw the segment and would def. agree the hinges have come off people’s behavior as you said. This is insane!

We have totally gone off the rail in terms of what Christmas or Thanksgiving are supposed to be about.

As the talking heads try to blame this on the “American psyche” or whatever, let’s remember that 99.99% of the population wasn’t anywhere near one of these stores this morning.

Excellent Michelle! I knew that vulcher lawyer would want to sue Wal Mart instead of the uncivilized animals who stampede at the first sniff of a bargain…

Just watched you on Cavuto’s show Michelle and you took the words right out of my mouth; “animal shoppers”. Hopefully those animals who stormed the doors will be identified and prosecuted for the death of that poor man working there. Your comment about how children lining up everyday in school and behaving correctly was also right on. Good job.

While the Wal-Mart incident is an unfortunate reminder of a darker side of human nature: mindless mob action; the Citigroup story, in my opinion is much more insidious. It represents cold, calculating, ruthless greed at its’ worst. Far more dangerous to the well-being of us all.

Waiting for legislation that will dictate retailers must provide a personal behavior chaperone to each and every shopper that enters the establishment.

These ‘monitors’ will ensure the shopper behaves properly thus eliminating any personal responsibility from said shopper and placing all bad behavior of the before mentioned shopper squarely on the retailer.

What this mob mentality at Wal Mart really tells us is the reckless disrespect for human life…at any cost.

I missed MM on TV, but I am sick and tired of this “me me me” mentality that exists in our society.

It costs no money to be polite and courteous. Self-control and good manners have been replaced with all kinds of thuggish behavior. Out of control people are no longer ashamed or embarrassed.

When I was a kid the Cabbage Patch and some Video Games were the hottest toys to get for your kids. It was so bad it made its way into a Comic Strip talking about some little old lady beating down a mother for one of the toys. It was funny, but fits your mantra about this being nothing new.

Today’s incidents are one of many reasons I carry a Springfield Arms XD .45 Compact in the middle of my back every time I leave the house to go out in public. The total lack of good manners, narcissism, and nihilism displayed by a growing segment of our society is getting completely out of control as the violence inherent in the stampede for bargains the day after the Thanksgiving Holiday and in other crowded social situations. It is only going to get worse until someone steps up and enforces the rule of law and reestablishes the proper rules of behavior. Not holding my breath.

Anyone on here besides me watch “Smoking Gun presents World’s Dumbest: “Black Friday Shoppers.” last nite on t.v.? It does not just happen only at Walmart, it’s marketing for the insane. Like walter says: “dumb a$$e$”
Shows a total disregard for human life by these selfish, me me me, bastards. Any lawyers here have an opinion on the possibilities of the bereaved families suing Walmart and the individuals that took part in these 2 killings?
I repeat myself here…my fondest heartfelt sympathies go to the families of the young man that lost his life and the young mother to be that had a miscarriage, hopefully the reported others with injuries will recover fully.
Sometimes my fellow man make me sick to my stomach.

Where is the Fire Marshall? btw. Has anyone ever even seen a “fire marshall”? I suppose they do exist and actually show up occasionally, but what do they do when they arrive and how do they determine that too many people are crowded in the place-of-business?

Camping out for days, standing in line for bargains, assaulting/murdering your fellow man – all in the name of our Savior’s birth. Makes me ill and that’s why I haven’t participated in Black Friday for a number of years – it’s a mob on steroids.

I find shopping on line easier, usually shipping is free, and for returns you only have to go to your local post office. Malls are for looky-loos and teens hanging out.

But I mean, in this day and age of the “2nd Great Depression” er…”Recession”, WHERE are those people getting all the money spend on Christmas? Shouldn’t those people be standing in soup lines or selling apples on street cornere?

Could it be that this “Financial Crisis” was just engineered by the Democrats and The MSM to get the Democrats back into power and a lot of stupid Americans bought the hoax?

They exist Jet Jaguar and spend most of their time inspecting commercial and government buildings, nursing homes, schools etc.
Their two primary directives are preparedness and prevention and in some municipalities are the political liaison between the department and city government.
If the fire department is called to an event and it is found the building is over capacity they have the power to cite or shut the place down.
In this unfortunate Walmart case the crowd control issue should have been foreseen by local law enforcement.

Yeah – brilliant. What would you do? Someone pushes you or acts like those cretins … you going to whip out your piece and shoot them? Just the kind of behavior the 2nd Amendment people need.

Spoken like a true fireman – it’s the cops fault. Riiiight – the cops have nothing better to do than babysit every store in the country IN CASE some nitwits act like animals.

Me … I don’t sjop anymore. I go to my bank and get free Visa debit cards to give everyone and let THEM run around and get whatever they want. 20 minutes and I’m DONE.
