Bollywood actress on Mumbai attacks: “Terrorism should be struck down with an iron hand”

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 30, 2008 11:36 PM

Why can’t more Hollywood celebrities talk like this about global jihadists who threaten us all:

Shabana Azmi- ‘I was on the phone with a friend in London when she asked me to switch on the TV. It’s a diabolic war waged on our city and country. This isn’t the time to place blame. We need to maintain peace and communal harmony and cooperate with the police. Our condolences to police officers who sacrificed their lives. Terrorism should be struck down with an iron hand.’

And this:

Shilpa Shetty – It makes me sad and angry that Mumbai residents are soft targets for such attacks. It’s an unsettling feeling, especially since we seem not equipped to deal with it. This is an open war against humanity.’

Instead, we get Rosie O’Donnell and other Tinseltown members of the 9/11 idiot brigade.

Sigh.

Closer to home, in San Francisco, some people are starting to wake up:

Ashwini Surper, a software developer and one of the event organizers, said she has been glued to the television since Thursday, when news of the siege by terrorists began.

“Our message today is that it is not one nation, not one ethnic group, that has to fight terrorism,” Surper said. “People have looked at terrorism as a fragmented problem, or as America’s problem. But it is a global problem.”

Surper, who has been a guest at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel, a 105-year-old landmark that was seized by attackers believed to be Muslim extremists, called Mumbai “the pride of India.”

“I am really angry, and I am not an angry person,” she said, shaking her head. “India is a spiritual place. I am spiritual. I am a yoga practitioner who believes in nonviolence and peace. But the world is letting terrorism happen. That’s why I’m angry.”

Madhu Upadhyay, who was born in Ahmedabad, India, and was visiting San Francisco from his home in New York, called last week’s attacks “an ominous sign.” He said that Ahmedabad was the site of another terrorist attack in late July, in which dozens of people were killed.

“The message is, this madness must end,” Upadhyay said. “India must tackle this problem with like-minded nations.”

acting as if one wild cowboy was the real problem.

The effort to demonstrate our humanity to our enemies has been ferociously matched by the brutality and inhumanity
    of a determined murderous enemy.

This attack mimics the Golden Mosque tactic they used in Iraq and is meant to trigger a wider regional tension between Muslims and Hindus.

With the Obama Presidency looming and his professed pacification philosophy expect more and more of these provocations in an attempt to trigger an all out war between Muslims and the western world.

Those who hate us see a golden opportunity to drive a wedge between us and are current/potential allies in the war on terror. With Obama in office, our enemies know they will have greater latitude to deepen such a wedge. All non-islamic states surrounded by islamic nations will see greater incidents of attacks in the coming years. Look to india, thailand, and the philipines to be the primary victims of such attacks. The muslims know they can use their terror agenda against these nations without undo hindrance from an Obama administratoin.

I was in India back around May and passed the Taj Mahal hotel on a fast and furious car tour of Mumbai. I didn’t really pay that much attention to it because there are a lot of things called the Taj Mahal in Mumbai.

The India Gate you see on TV is the arch through which the last British troops passed when India got her independence. It’s right on the waterfront of the huge bay, which is full of small and medium sized ships. As you are looking at the India Gate, if you turn around and look the other way, you’re looking at the Taj Mahal hotel, which is built right out to the road.

The hotels out by the airport, where I stayed, an hour’s drive on the jam-packed freeway going ten mph, are better secured. They are set back from the road by at least 150 yards and all cars entering the gate are searched for bombs. The Taj Mahal probably was an easier target than them, far more accessible. India has about one Muslim terror attack per week. Most of them are below the radar of the world press. It looks like the Muslims wanted to use Indian blood to ink bigger headlines.

Mumbai has a Muslim district full of mosques. It’s the only place where I have gotten the stink eye from a Muslim. A cab driver wearing a Muslim cap gave me a crazy look like you might see from a moonshine whiskey maker to a revenuer who’s busted his still.

Mumbai is basically miles and miles of slums, people living in brick huts with corrugated steel roofs weighted down with bricks and tile. Others live in mid-rise walk up apartments with no air conditioning. Here and there are islands of prosperity, a business compound or upscale apartment building, amid a vast sea of poverty. While there are dozens of political parties, the penants of which fly everywhere to mark their territory, the politics of the everyday Mumbaikar appears to be limited to making enough money to feed their family today.

In that sense, the Muslim massacre makes as much sense as Al Capone gunning down people in a soup line during the Depression to protest the IRS. It’s pointless and depraved.

I was speaking metaphorically of course, but I will explain further.
Besides Britons, who are the other major players in the war on terror?
Small countries are helping but the major countries are content to let the US do all the heavy lifting.
The UK’s laws are enabling terrorism to flourish on one hand while fighting it on the other.
Over half the passages in the Koran refer to waging jihad against the non believers or establish Islam as the only legitimate Religion and political system.
With the continuous education and financing efforts by Muslims that promote this idea the rest of the world including half our own citizens do have their heads somewhere where they shouldn’t be!

They act like this is an imagined problem!

Look at the NATO effort in Afghanistan, it is a joke and it sends the message to the extremists that most of the world is weak and unwilling to fight them.

When the rest of the world makes the commitment to become strong against them also than you can say they have pulled their heads out of the sand or whereever!
