I agree. I live in the Bay Area, and I often hear the smug “elitism” of the Bay Area progressives when they look down on the hicks in Middle America or the rednecks in the South.

Hey, Bay Area, you can be full of pride regarding your progressive thought and politics, but look in the mirror. Many of your neighborhoods are segregated and violent; many of your schools are segregated, violent, and failing; and the disparity between rich & poor is as extreme in the Bay Area than any other place in the US.

Interesting that the Democrats have been in charge of San Fransicko now for how many years? None of their social, sexual, nor financial problems have gone away, but have worsened. These leftists have been in charge of the State for how long? Same thing. California public schools? Same result.

Now, they are completely in charge of Washington. Anyone want to bet on how the conditions change nationally in the next 4 years? You can bet good money, that during the re-election bids for the 2012 offices, these “clean, articulate, social progressives” will be pointing fingers at,

1) Bush, for putting them so deep in the hole to begin with, that there is no way they could have been successful, and they need 4 more years, etc.; and

2) the obstructionist Republican minority thwarted the passage of every good piece of legislation that was offered.

Hey jwm, I certainly agree w/ what you’re saying there… however, I think most folks realize that there are normal, regular, everyday citizens that live in SF and go about their lives/business and despise the unfortunate reputation their city has. I can sympathize, as I’m a native of and live in a city, in the southeast, that’s known as the home of a particular type of crappy music that I personally can’t stand (to me, this music genera makes Wham! sound good)… sadly, it’s the loons of SF, CA, and the left coast in general, that always make the news…. regular people are too boring to be newsworthy and thus are forced to endure living in the moonbat purgatory created by a small percentage of the population. Hang in there bro.
