Obama finally lets Fox News ask a question

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 3, 2008 12:00 PM

I watched the Obama/Bill Richardson press conference so you don’t have to.

1) Obama finally called on Fox News for a question. (FNC had been shut out for five press conferences.) Wendell Goler asked about TARP and joked about Bill Richardson’s now-shaved beard. Obama basically said he would trust Hank Paulson not to draw down the second tranche of the bailout billions until he made some official announcement. Ha. Obama also lamented Richardson’s decision to get rid of the beard.

It was “Western” and “rugged,” Obama oozed. As opposed to bitter and clingy?

2) A Hispanic journalist asked Obama for his reaction to criticism from Latino groups that Richardson’s Commerce nomination was a token “consolation prize.” Obama unconvincingly argued that Richardson was the best person for the job, citing his, um, “diplomatic experience” (?) and executive experience as governor. As for Richardson’s knowledge of business and the markets, well, he served on a lot of corporate boards after leaving Washington. Oh, and he was the son of a Citibank exec.

Experience!

The Democrats’ definition of a diverse cabinet is a group of blacks, whites, Hispanics, Asians, women, gays, and Handicapped people… all of whom are leftist lawyers.

I watched as it took 15 minutes for the customer and the staff to try and communicate a simple order for 5 people. In the end, after the man finally got his lunch, he had to return to the counter 3 times as the order was not right. At one point I thought they were going to resort to fisticuffs.

The top two slots were taken.

Chap, this is laughable. They were “taken”, like “first come, first served”?

I am sorry. What was the reporter expecting? The top two slots were taken. After that, cant do much better than a cabinet appointment, can you?

C’mon! Commerce Secretary? There is no more commerce! Or as our new Latino Sec. of Commerce might say: “Commerce? We don’t need no steenking commerce.”

started the rumor that Obama attended a jihadist madrassa

Funny, even before Obamalamadingdong was a household name, a friend who’s retired from “those shadowy places in gubmint” told me about this. But unlike FOX, in describing the madrassa, he used the words “hard core.”

No, as in Obama can’t really offer him the presidency or the vice presidency, now can he? After that it seems cabinet positions are the next best thing, so I can’t understand why anyone would say its a consolation.

If you want to get into ranking the respective cabinet postions then fine, but I would consider them all generall on par.

    Oh, brother.

Why wouldn’t Obama have picked Richardson as his running mate? He broke ties w/his buddies the Clintons to support Obama. Instead he picks Biden, who spent a lot of time during his (lame) campaign mouthing off about what a lightweight Obama was. (My theory is that Biden is far less of a threat to Obama’s “image” than a person of substance such as Bill Richardson would be.)

Obama could have offered Richardson SoS, which Richardson wanted, esp. since he has far more diplomatic experience than Hillary’s imagination permits her.

It continues to amaze me what constitutes “experience” for job when one Democrat wants one for another Democrat. Nothing could illustrate this better than Kennedy in New York and Franken in Minnisota.

These same people could find “NOTHING” that would qualify Palin for anything but “mother”, and to many she had failed in this “job”. She nor her daughter ABORTED”. A total failure and the principle reason she was so viciously attacked.
