Netfest & FamilyMan- I’m not sure if she is getting indoctrinated but possibly. I do try to watch out for things like that. And FamilyMan made a solid point that makes me re-think my opinion. It’s so true that our government could actually be to blame for the high corporate tax rate. Pretty sad state of affairs, the dumbass politicians are driving thousands of jobs overseas with these rediculous tax rates. I guess I’m flip flopping like a flounder on the Walmart issue, and I haven’t completely stopped shopping there, just less than I used to. THe makority of politicians are absolutely useless. 100% are useless in my state (Mass). Home of the most corrupt state government in the country. That’s what 1 party rule gets you (corruption).
Correction. I meant to type this:
It’s so true that our government could actually be to blame because of thier high corporate tax rate.
With surging unemployment, an economy in disarray, an incoming President who rather frightens me, Islamofascism on the rise, and all the other problems in the world, all I can think about is that
Only missed one. 96.97%. MBA many years ago.
The one thing thats rockin around in my mind is:
What happened to volunteerism in America?
Back before liberals took over congress and The US – ie. 30’s / 60’s
The States had:
- State Defense Forces : http://www.statedefenseforce.com – that numbered in the tens of thousands and during wartime as much as 140,000 thousand. Why is it today the number of volunteers have dwindled?
- Vol. Fire Departments : Volunteer Fire Departments were around way before Full time fire stations, with volunteers coming from all corners of the community. Why is it today that Vol. Fire Departments are struggling to get people to join.
Where has The Patriotic spirit of volunteerism gone?
When the Feds put a gun to our heads and say “you must share” with the “victim class”, it kind of takes the fun out of giving.
Missed 2 – 93.94% – several years of college – did not graduate
Lived through the times of several questions. Guessed at several by eliminating least reasonable answer.

This should be an obvious sign for the GOP to scream loudly NO.
Roydee cheated. Yes he did. I saw him do it.
Okay, here I’m trying again to post some links to what I’ve recently blogged about, but I’ll try to do it in spades this time.
US State Department opposes Jews buying property legally in Hebron.
Okay, that worked out well. Now, here’s another one:
In Teen Titans #65, Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark is choked by her own lasso by a villain she’s dealing with. Do NOT allow your children to read this already disgusting book.
Okay, that went through well too. Now, here’s one more:
A video I posted recently of Data East’s Street Hoop, which is MUCH better than NBA Jam. It’s got cool music too.
Wow. The United States Government **does** care about illegals illegally occupying. Who’da thought it?
Missed 2 on the quiz as well. I say they were poorly worded.
BTW, if you don’t see me post anything for a while, it will most likely be because I have taken a baseball bat to my [expletive] piece of [expletive] [expletive] computer because the [expletive] usb ports [expletive] have decided to stop [expletive] working and I can’t [expletive] figure out what is wrong with them or how to fix the [expletive] things.
They must be [expletive] liberal usb ports.
Oh my gosh, I had that same surgery many many years ago! I still remember how AWFUL it was when the doctor removed the packing. It felt like he was pulling my brains out through my nose. Thank goodness you don’t have to go through that! Yes, many things have improved in 40 years! I also had my gall bladder out and was hospitalized for 10 days. Now, they just zap those stones with a laser and you can go home. Sometimes the “good old days” are not as good as we think!
Oh god. I decided in my junior year of college to have that surgery too, during spring break, rather than go with my friends to Ireland (where my girlfriend at the time was studying abroad as well). Pulling out the packing was the single grossest feeling of my life. I always think of that one scene in Total Recall.
As it turns out, the surgery really didn’t work that well so I still have issues to this day and my girlfriend ended up screwing around on me over there. So…yeah…
Chap, sounds like your CMOS battery may have died. You may need to replace the batter, and go into the BIOS setup screen at system startup. There’ll be a setting to enable on-board USB ports (on board to the motherboard). This is just a guess but good luck.
Probably you just need the usb ports for your mouse & keyboard? If so, you can get usb to ps/2 adapters so that you can plug your usb mouse and keyboard into the ps/2 ports on the back of your machine.
Ohhh…good idea. I will try this. Thanks. And actually it is for the printer and my Ipod.
Hey Chap…It sounds like you had some trauma in your youth! Is that what happened to make you a liberal? If so, get over it and join the right side! You would make a good Conservative!
Keep him here long enough happy. We’ll get him. He too smart to remain a lib.
I agree! In fact, I think he keeps coming back because, even though he doesn’t know it, he is searching for the truth, and WE have it!
She was, perhaps not coincidentally, politically conservative, apparently not so much morally. Actually, I kid. She is a fine girl, married to a very nice guy. I even invited her to my wedding (and vice versa), though we both had the good sense and tact to politely decline.
I’ve already come around on the second amendment. Don’t push it.
Actually what was more unforgivable than her “transgression” in Ireland is that when she finally broke up with me about 2 years later she chose to do so at the beginning of a 2 1/2 car ride from the Eastern Shore back to DC.
THAT was an uncomfortable rest of the trip.

Chap…Sounds like you were better off without her. I believe everything happens for a reason!
This morning, my wife and I drove from our place south of Houston to Tyler, TX, for these pies. They were totally worth the almost four hour trip.
Hey, we’ve driven to Austin for pizza.
87.88%. How well do you think the Obummer supporters would done on the quiz? Maybe 4 correct if lucky.
I support Obummer.
I did 93.94%.

I would be willing to bet it is the same 3 people who complained for 4 years. There, that is the “dozen”. Gotta work within government statistics.
All you had to do, Michalak, was to make a record of the complaints and file it somewhere outta reach. Let the other 99+% have their trees.
Or, call them “Library Lights Bright Holiday Nights Campus Tree Lighting”.

I HATE the PC crap.
95+% of the people can’t be all wrong.
Great purity on the cocaine!
chap,
let’s see if you’re still supporting obummer when he fails to fix the current problems facing the country.
He is not in office yet. The electors get to decide if obumma is eligible for office…
Hi everyone…wanted to post my score on the Civic test..87.88%
The only reason I did this well is because I’m teaching American History to my daughter. (This is year number 2, just finished the Civil War..next up, the Transcontinental Railroad..then on to the World Wars) That’s one of the cool things about homeschooling..you get a second chance to learn what wasn’t taught the first time around.
I hope everyone is having a blessed Christmas season!
My guess is something went terribly wrong…he-he
You should have dropped her off at one of those strip malls in Delaware, and let her hitch her way back.
What am I thinking today??? I am loving Gators 31 Bama 20, SEC Champs! Bring on OU
The North won.
This is actually major. For over a generation, libs have been pretty heavy about trying to restrict this, but – and this pains me – there has been a pretty good discussion in legal circles for about 10 yrears or so that has changed a lot of lib minds I think.
May I just say – without rubbing salt in it – that choosing a deviated septum over a trip to Ireland is only inviting trouble?
How sweet and thoughtful, thank you mom24ks, may the same be yours.
chapoutier–
I understand completely about the computers. Computers are one of the few things that can be relied upon to get me to use language that is not allowed in the Army any more (supposedly).
And welcome to the side of individual rights on the Second Amendment which is what your sentence in #120 implies to me). Always good to have more–especially one who has enough feistyness to keep writing here after being savaged so often.
(P. S. On the computer have you tried the annoying effective trick–one that I usually forget–of turning everything off [cold boot] and turning everything back on again? I still maintain that Bill Gates is the Spawn of the Devil, and all of his company’s works are, by extension, inherently evil, although the de facto standard. Computer problems are all his fault.)
…and to all who visit here! Merry Christmas!
Yeah…except it was her car and she was driving…
I scored 81.82% on the quiz.
Forgot to mention, that I’ll beat anyone on a Bible or Star Trek quiz!
BTW,
The chapoutier Gold Star Post of the Night goes to Jet Jaguar for providing me with an imminently acceptable workaround to my computer problem, with the adapter suggestion until I can get it properly fixed.
I just picked one up at Radio shack and, as long as I don’t need to type while printing or syncing my iPod, it works like a charm.
That is correct, but beyond simply the issue of constitutional interpretation, I have also come around with respect to the practicalities.
I had always felt that having a concealed carry society would inevitably lead to a bunch of hot heads playing out High Noon, at the drop of any insult or perceived slight. And the more I have looked at it, as I am sure you all know, the more I have realized that not only isn’t the case, but that cc’ers are if anything, hyper responsible.
81.82% on the Civics Test. I feel bad. I should have done better.
On another note, that SEC championship game was one of mixed emotions. I don’t like Alabama or Florida. To bad it couldn’t have been a tie.
I wasn’t homeschooled in the sense that I stayed at home, but when I was young my mother got a set of encyclopedias with GREEN STAMPS (remember those?). I would just pick a volume and read it. I liked the history parts. Years later during a parent-teacher conference my history teacher requested that my mother “take the history books away from David” because I was making him look bad.
That’s cool! Glad to help.
I always felt that concealed carry permits keep the bad guys guessing. Also, a couple of years ago there were 206 killings in Memphis that were classified as murder. The next year there were just as many killings, but only about 160 classified as murder. The rest were classified as “justified homicide” mainly coming from home invasions where the bad guys lost. This year you haven’t heard as much about home invasions.

Must have double clutched on the mouse. OOOPPPSSS.
Still early, but looks like William Jefferson is losing his seat in Congress tonight.
Hate to have to correct you (well, not really), but AC was a 19th-century invention.
*Scored 87.88% on the Civics Test; But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
*I believe 2 states have full, unrestricted 2nd amendment rights and minimal gun violence as a result.
*Statistics matter, and they point to both a restriction component and a racial component as it relates to gun violence.
Tennesse Dave..you bring up a good point..maybe I shouldn’t put all the blame on the school system. I vaguely remember a set of encyclopedias in my house, but they were no where near the phone..and since my life as a teenager was spent on the phone, there wasn’t enough time to read
…please don’t tell my kids!
I don’t know anything about those two organizations specifically, but I can make a few guesses as to volunteerism in general.
A lot of organizations are just plain hard to volunteer for. It’s not their fault if you need to fit strict physical requirements or you’re useless to them if you can’t pull eight hour shifts or be on call all the time, but a lot of people simply can’t. It was probably easier when more people ran their own businesses and could control their own work schedules.
Some of them are just bad at recruiting, too. One way to attract volunteers that some organizations are overlooking would be to hold events where volunteers can do a little bit of volunteering with no strings attached; do some good and see if they’re comfortable with the organization before signing away gobs and gobs of time.
Also, while the above organizations are probably not in this category, some volunteer organizations seem to demand more than they actually need to, either because they’re out of touch with reality or because they’re not very well-organized.
Thomas Edison waged a publicity war to promote his DC power system over Nikola Tesla’s AC power system. It seems Edison lost. Read about it here.
That being said, it could be argued that the vacuum/electron tube could be the greatest invention of the 20th century. That led to transistors and microchips which led to the computer explosion and the internet.
Then again, what could be better than sliced bread?
Sorry, you are all wrong.
Hey, but if you want a bass o matic sandwich you have to have sliced bread.
I’m almost embarrassed for LGM tonight.
This has to be in the top 5.
I’m not.
Looks like you are focused on the heavens.

Chap: Maybe one day I will tell you about breaking up with the girlfriend who felt the need to cheat on me while I was caring for my dying mother who was under hospice care. It seems I didnt fly home enough to be with her…
Greatest invention of the 2th Century was the Nuclear bomb.
Imagine: A weapon so powerful you don’t have to use it on an enemy to hold them at bay.
(Fat Man and Little Boy were Atomic, not Nuclear)
Greatest invention? How about this?
Looks like old “freezer bucks” Jefferson is out of office now. Best wishes go to Anh Cao in his first term. He’s the first Vietnamese-American to win a seat in congress.
Just heard about Jefferson, graysonret!!!
All my best to Cao.
May Jefferson be found guilty and jailed soon.
WOW! First I found out Bama lost last night and now I find out Jefferson did too. I’m thinking the sun will shine a little brighter today, and my morning sickness feels better too
What do you believe would be the best Homeland Defense?
1. A Larger & Powerful US Military. Increase The US Army and National Guard troop strength by 200 – 300 thousand soldiers.
Utilize these soldier for National Defense against terrorism and response.
2. Keep the same size military, but have a large Military Volunteer Reserve pool. Increase The State Defense Force – http://www.statedefenseforce.com – to World War 2 levels of 140,000 troops to help augment National Guard and Active Duty Forces.
Which would you think would be best?
A larger military or a State Defense Force which can support, assist & augment US Military forces.
*State Defense Forces have augmented US military forces since 1917 and have assumed military responsibilites over the state during times of war.
More info: http://www.statedefenseforce.com
A well armed, trained, citizenry.
If the jihadist do hit in small scale operations at malls, schools and other public venues it does take time for the police to arrive–hours for the military IF they have bases in your town. You could Dial 911 and Die
Please note: the same Democratic Party Leadership that wants to strip you of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is also calling for a 25% reduction in the size of our military.

That every man be armed-you too ladies.
Just read where Senator Dodd wants the chariman of GM to step down. I think as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee he should take his own advice — considering the current banking mess he and Barney Frank helped put us in!
How about an article on this MM?
Totally off topic probably but you all have got to see this.

Went to the local CHRISTMAS parade on Saturday. 80 degrees and a sunburn, last year was cool & damp.
Horses, marching bands, JROTC units, dance & martial arts clubs, classic cars, floats, the Phillipino American cultural club, fire trucks, VFW (got the biggest applause), Nativity scenes(!), Santa Claus.
America lives…
Please note – AR-15 type arms are almost sold out everywhere, with a several month backlog. (Did find a local store with some due to jacking the price.) Obama has done wonders for that industry.
Damned I got beat by a 15 year old. I got 20 out of 33 for a whopping 60.61%.
In school guess I’d have the old dunce cap on.
Indeed, Scottsdale Gun Club here in AZ can’t even keep lower receivers in stock for all their AR-15 brands they just sell the receiver for. Unless they magically start getting huge shipments in the near future they will remain sold out for many months to come I would guess.
My results:
You answered 26 out of 33 correctly — 78.79%
Meh.
Didn’t see the link to the results section, though…
Hmmm…I’d offer help but I’m only here because I couldn’t sleep and my contacts are already out and I’m reading everything with my nose about five inches from the screen and still squinting and dead tired but unable to actually hit the fully asleep stage so…good luck with that.
