Mem’ries: Babs and Bush kiss

Guess she took some medication for her chronic Bush Derangement Syndrome.
Hope the president had a strong sanitizer. I need eye bleach:

There are many unpleasant aspects to that job.
I expected nothing less from President Bush. He’s a gentleman.
Yuuuuccchhh!
Another reason not to be President. Having to kiss people like this would make me vomit. Wonder if he did behind the curtain?
I’d rather cough up a yak hairball than kiss that diva bee-otch.
It would have been for him to take a squirt of hand sanitizer on his lips after that.
err.. would have been “great”…for him to…
Nasty. The female lgm.

Indeed. “Gentlemanly” doesn’t begin to describe taking the kind of s*&t he’s taken and keeping his own dignity.
I wish him the best, and hope history will be kinder to his Presidency.
Wow, Babs being gracious!!
Though it would have been fun to see her back off with her arm outstretched and say something nasty!

Maybe she, unlike some haters, is able to “let go” now that his Presidency is almost over. At any rate, it’s nice to see her being civil to him, at least for this occasion.
I remember a talk radio guest was asked his opinion of her. “She’s a great singer,” he replied. “But what about her politics?” “She’s a great singer,” he repeated.

You know what Mama said: “if you can’t say anything nice . . . ”
The The Pres and First Lady are class acts; Babs…..well, whatever. What do her deranged lib friends think now?
That would have been a good time to send the Vice President as a representative.
She was accepting a Kennedy Center Honor. A couple other honorees were Morgan Freeman and George Jones. I like them and was glad to see them honored.
Amen, he is a gentleman and those who whine about this are not.

Oh my gosh, I saw that on TV! What was he thinking? I don’t believe for one minute that Babs was being civil. She probably couldn’t “deck” him without getting arrested, so she put up with the “kiss”. The way she trashed him and said disgusting and completely disrespectful things about our sitting President…she deserved to be snubbed. Yes, he is a “class act”. But there are limits to “class”. Being classy does not mean being a fool…and this moment made him look like a fool in my eyes. What was she doing in the same room with him in the first place?
I…can’t…stop…yakking! E-r-r-u-g-h….e-r-r-u-g-h…!!!
Regarding my post #18…OOOPSSS! I meant to put the first part in quotes from FROSTRT. Sorry.
Good thing she turned her head otherwise her big schnozz would have poked his eye out! er… Did I say that out loud? Sorry meant to use my quiet voice.
The poor man!

Now that you mentioned it, Babs could have snubbed the award show on the grounds that the eeeevvviiilll BOOOOSSSHHH would be honoring her. That would be perfectly acceptable to the MSM. On the other hand, if she had been snubbed from it this year because of her Bush-bashing . . .

Modern finish for the old saying.
He’s a class act, and has always been a bigger person than the weenies who blame him for everything. Good call, Micheleeroo, absolutely.
People who choke the life out of Liberals are the Luckiest People in the World.
I don’t really understand why this is news. Politicians kiss babies all the time.

LOL
It was bigger of her to shake his hand and kiss his cheek, knowing her politics. The President acted as a President, and we’d expect nothing yet. Point to Babs on this one.
However, I’m sure Obama has already exteded a standing invitation to her for the Lincoln bedroom whenever she’d like. She’ll have plenty opportunities to sing Kumbaya with him over the next 4 years.
…and we’d expect nothing LESS…
Major ew, how did he stand it? I’d rather kiss a cows butt.
That’s perfect.
Another sign of the Apocolypse?
She is, or was in her heyday, a great singer. I don’t always agree with her interpretations, but she does interesting things that are worth listening to at least once.
President Bush is a gentleman.

Would you expect anything less from Entertainers or Politicians?
Babs being gracious?!?!?! HARDLY!
President Bush was being gracious, she was merely being temporarily civil at best. Bush is the one who made the gracious gesture, not Babs. The most gracious thing Babs has done was to say, “well, I spose I can stop being a bitch long enough to accept the award, but I would much rather have gotten the award from Obama or Clinton.” In other words, publicly praising her “brilliance” and stroking her ego is the only thing in the world that she thinks is important enough to get her to hold her venemous tongue for a few milliseconds.
I have more respect for her fellow lunatics at Code Pink — at least they have the courage of their convictions.
President Bush is the only one being gracious here. She’s a vile lying bitch who has smeared him (and Ron and Nancy Reagan) at every opportunity for his entire 8 years in office, she has called him a liar and a theif, and he shows nothing but class, grace, and humility in return.
Bush has suffered much for his country. I miss him already.
Oh, I got filtered. Apparently the “b” word isnt allowed. Bummer, it was a good comment.
Well, he IS kissing a horses butt. Isn’t that close enough?
Barbra Striesand’s STILL ALIVE???
Who knew……

The nightmares, the nightmares!
Right after the prefunctory “besito” both parties steam cleaned their lips. President Bush should have had a penicillin shot also–you never know where those lips have been!

There is being a gentleman and then there is being a doormat.
The president has crossed that line way back.
Being gracious should not be confused with not fighting back.
It goes to show why he didn’t display the leadership needed to keep the GOP under control and why the Dems control now the congress.
It also explains why, to a degree, why he will be handing over the keys to a Chicago street hustler next month.

Did Security have Babs’ lipstick lab-tested?
Lips that have touched James Brolin are not fit for public consumption.
Michelle – I don’t complain when you make us look at Pelosi, Babs and her fingers (really, who holds their hands like that?) or the Hildabeast…
But Bush kissing babs crosses the line of decency!! You should have the NSFW warning.
My eyes!!
OKAY, BOSTON LEGAL Is on now..
Time for some relaxation and fun.
Kissing Barbara Streisand was easy for President Bush. Don’t forget that he already had to kiss Hillary. And after kissing Hillary, heck you might find it easy to give Janet Reno a peck on the cheek.
… on the next episode of “Fear Factor”….
Yes, but politicians normally kiss babies on the top-side… wait a minute… you mean that was her top-side! I could not tell the difference. Her face looks too much like the south-bound end of a north-bound mule!
Does that last comment mean that I am not a gentleman?
Yeah, andf caslling President Bush a “doormat,” joining in with Democrats, is one reason we lost this election. You and your type also came up with so many demeaning names for Senator McCain, you might as well have been holding hands with the Democrats. Disgusting and short-sighted about the role of the president of the UNITED States.
Ick
There is not enough tequilla in Cabo Wabo to ever make that happen!
Sounds fine to me.
That wasn’t Reno?
Did W wash his lips with germicide afterwords and then offer Babs some?
Just askin’.
Ever since that flower pot incident, Babs has never been “quite right” in her head. Over the years, I’ve shaken hands and “pecked” the cheek with people I don’t like…in the interest of peace at the moment. As one gets older, one learns that peace is preferable to conflict. My ex-wife and I are good friends today, because of the peace we wanted. Her ex-husband (after me) who hated my guts, is friendly with me now. I prefer peace. Priorities change and what was important in the past, isn’t important today. We stop being emotion-driven as much as we were in our younger days. The aches/pains come and I just had surgery last month. We learn that we are mortal and time isn’t infinite anymore. Perhaps Babs and Bush are the same way, though I think politics of the moment dictated the action. As Bush, I would be friendly with her, though I wouldn’t trust her “out of sight”. Heck, I would give Pelosi a “peck on the cheek” if the politics of the moment demanded it, though I would prefer a double single malt Scotch straight up first.
I am grateful for this man. I haven’t always agreed with him, but I am grateful to him for keeping me and my family safe for the last 7+ years! The “Thank You, President Bush” sign will remain in my front yard until 2012!
As for Babs, she can KMA!
She melted like buttah! President Bush is classy and a gentleman. Too bad the next one is neither.
I like the traditional good Mexican Senorita kissing rules. A kiss on the lips is reserved for your novio–in private–until the official beso at the wedding ceremony. Then they are reserved for your husband.
***
A respectful kiss on the cheek or hair is appropriate for a close friend or family member–no lips.
***
A handshake and smile are appropriate when you meet someone socially–like President Bush and Babs Streisand–no beso!

Makes sense to me, too.
But I reiterate: Lips that touched James Brolin shall never touch me, under any circumstances. I would be reminded of him wishing us all a “happy 9-11″ and laughing.
Did her cheek taste like butttaar?
Bush is a better person than me!!!
“Art should transcend politics”? Is that what she said? The only problem with that bonheaded, hypocrical statement is that Hollywood only “transcends” it at its own discretion. Shut up, Babs.
