Report: 9/11 suspects will confess guilt at Gitmo
Rosie O’Donnell is still convinced George Bush and Dick Cheney did it.
These five jihadists, however, are apparently ready to trade the Troof for the truth:
Five men charged with plotting the Sept. 11 attacks say they are ready to make confessions.
The military judge assigned to their war-crimes trial at Guantanamo Bay read aloud a letter in which the five co-defendants said they “request an immediate hearing session to announce our confessions.”
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has already told interrogators he was the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks. Now he’s telling the judge that he and the others want to make confessions at their trial.
The judge, Army Col. Stephen Henley, is asking each defendant if they are prepared to enter a plea. So far three of them said Monday they agree with the letter. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for all five.

I’m glad that these individuals are planning on confessing. However, I’m not sure I would trust anything that they say. (And while I believe in the death penalty when the evidence is incontrovertible, do we want to make these people martyrs?)

However, my thought process involves saying, “So what if we don’t have an orderly transition of power on Jan. 20, 2009?” The world won’t come to an end as we know it if G.W.B. remains on in office for a few months (years?) longer. In fact, we haven’t had a terrorist attack on our soil since the one Clinton allowed to happen on 9/11/01.
I’d rather have a few (thousand?) angry pundits and uptight voters than deal with any further erosion to our national sovreignty (and ultimately, our security).
Just my opinion, that and 50 cents won’t get you a cup of coffee these days.

I don’t think 9/11 was an inside job. That’s stupid. Also stupid, however, is taking a confession — extracted after 5 years of extra-legal imprisonment, without being charged for a crime, and in some cases, being tortured — at face value. I will NEVER forget standing in the Day Room at the station watching as the Towers collapsed and 343 of my Brothers were forever stolen from their wives, children and families…along with over 2000 other civilians, nor going into the dorm to wake up my partner with the words, They’re gone. The WTC is GONE! We’ve been attacked…we are at war…” nor the pained, silent looks on all the guys faces as we watched. Nor the hour or so it took for me to contact my then wife, who was enroute to San Francisco for the day and who was not listening to the radio and instead, laughing and talking with her co-worker
/passenger…or getting my kids out of school as soon as I was released from duty and sent home, just so I could hold them and hold them and hold them…
I admit without an ounce of shame that I do, indeed, become violent around these idiots who deny what happened.
