‘Birtherism’ and anti-communism

Back in the 1950s, the Communist Party USA was on the ropes.

Most Americans understood the threat posed by a totalitarian, foreign-directed organization hell-bent on destroying their way of life from within.

But then the Communists got a brilliant idea. They launched a campaign against anti-communism.

Anyone who spoke out against the party was derided as a “red-baiter.” They “saw Communists under every bed.” They were delusional.

Fellow travelers and useful idiots were recruited into the campaign against anti-communism. Soon, it became less popular and less “cool” to be an anti-communist than to be a card-carrying member of Josef Stalin’s subversive operation “inside the belly of the beast.”

Why am I reliving this history?

Because the very same kind of drill is being run today against another righteous American cause – the deep and visceral concerns that Barack Obama has never been held to prove his constitutional eligibility for the highest office in the land.

Today, in elite circles in the media, “birthers” are routinely ridiculed for even raising the question. Nowhere are they provided a forum for their legitimate views. When you speak out on this topic, be prepared to be eviscerated, humiliated and isolated as some fringe figure akin to a flat-earther.

While no one in the media has ever asked Barack Obama to prove his status as a “natural born citizen,” as the Constitution requires, “birthers,” on the other hand, face impossible demands of proving that he isn’t.

The burden of proof should be on the man holding the office, not on those demanding he live up to his oath of office.

Why is this issue still important?

Whether or not Obama is constitutionally eligible for office, one thing is for certain: He has demonstrated no willingness to be open with the American people, no transparency. He has fought efforts to get him to release his original birth certificate with the same determination and legal fees he has employed to avoid disclosing other personal records involving health, education, travels, etc.

That’s contempt for the people as much as it is contempt for the Constitution. And Obama has demonstrated contempt for the will of the people and the Constitution throughout his first year in office.

Those who want to “move on” from this issue likewise suggest the Constitution is not all that important. I disagree. It is foundational. If we don’t use it as the ultimate litmus test for what Washington can and can’t do, the federal government is virtually limitless in its power.

Presumably, in 2012, Obama is going to have to face re-election. He needs to be held to account for his contempt of the Constitution – not just on policy matters, but on his fundamental refusal to honor and uphold it personally.
Furthermore, Americans want to live in a free and open society where we can talk about issues without the tyrannical specter of political correctness invoked. The anti-communists were right all along in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. It was wrong then to suggest Communism wasn’t a threat, that it was some side issue, that people who raised it as a matter of conscience were all loons.

There is only one reason “birthers” are being scorned and repudiated and marginalized today by the left and the soft right: It’s because of the same kind of vicious, oppressive, anti-intellectual campaign run against the anti-communists of a previous era.

It’s just “not cool” to be a “birther.”

But millions are willing to question Obama’s roots any way.

They are courageous for doing so. Those who hurl epithets are not.

And now, for the first time, Obama himself has laid down the gauntlet: “Surely you can question my policies without questioning my faith – or, for that matter, my citizenship.”

Personally, I don’t let the enemy (and, make no mistake about it, Obama is a proven enemy of the Constitution) set the rules of engagement.

It was a mistake when we let the Communists do it. It’s wrong now when we allow another enemy of the Constitution do it.

Is he kidding?? It would mean The President of the United States has lied and others have lied to cover up his birth place. A Conspiracy greater than Watergate if true.

Wasn’t it Obama himself who promised transparency?

The forged Certification does not prove Obama is a natural born citizen.
It only proves Soetoro/Obama’s intent to deceive.

The language of the 20th Amendment (ratified less than 76 years ago) makes it clear that the burden of proof is on the Presidential Candidate:

if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Go on, let’s discuss this some more as to why we have no grounds to stand and demand the truth on.

This is not anywhere near a bizarre request. It is not the same as requesting that he produce his war records to show whether or not he was injured three times and justly left his comrades after three months of service in Vietnam.

This is not like asking him to prove whether or not he is the father of his children.

This is something that is in the Constitution. This is one of the few things that the Constitution lists as the requirement to become the President of the United States.

It does not require military service. It does not require an education of any kind. It does not require that the person come from any type of wealth, or aristocrasy. It does not require any particular sex, nor does it require any particular race, nor religious belief.

It does, however, require that the person who is to become the President of the United States, et al, be an American Citizen by birth. Whether he/she be born in the Continental United States or on U.S. occupied soil such as on an military base or embassy.

Thus, it is our right, nay our DUTY to demand that the person PROVE beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they are EXACTLY who they claim they are and that they indeed have been born an AMERICAN CITIZEN.

Anyone who wishes, as an AMERICAN CITIZEN to see said proof should be welcomed and allowed to see that proof, not mocked and laughed at or called names. It is the DUTY of each and every citizen of this country to be vigilant and demand such proof of everyone seeking the Highest Office in the World if for no other reason than to avoid such things as I have listed and to defend the Constitution that so many men and women have shed blood and died for, and that has made this country all that it is and is destined to be.

People who would do so should NEVER be mocked in such a way, but instead those who would hide from scrutiny over something so important and easy to prove should be the ones who be put to scrutiny.

Demand that your President…or the Head of the Office of the President-Elect, stop hiding from the people he was hired by. He serves us at our whim. We do not serve him, nor does he rule us. Read the Constitution. He is not a king, nor the Messiah nor is he to be accorded anything special just because he is the President.

Show us the BC, or be prepared to always have that doubt remain. It may not go beyond simple request…or it may become something so large as to destroy everything that has come before.
