Look for the union label: Who’s the SEIU official who talked with Blago? Update: Stern?
If there’s a Chicago political corruption scandal, there’s a union official involved somewhere. Naturally, we discover on page 69 of the Blago criminal complaint, the appearance of “SEIU official,” discussing the vacant Senate seat with the Democrat governor. “Senate Candidate 1″ is rumored to be Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett. Inquiring minds want to know: Who is “SEIU official?”:
On November 12, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH spoke with SEIU Official, who was in Washington, D.C. Prior intercepted phone conversations indicate that approximately a week before this call, ROD BLAGOJEVICH met with SEIU Official to discuss the vacant Senate seat, and ROD BLAGOJEVICH understood that SEIU Official was an emissary to discuss Senate Candidate 1’s interest in the Senate seat. During the conversation with SEIU Official on November 12, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH informed SEIU Official that he had heard the President-elect wanted persons other than Senate Candidate 1 to be considered for the Senate seat.
SEIU Official stated that he would find out if Senate Candidate 1 wanted SEIU Official to keep pushing her for Senator with ROD BLAGOJEVICH. ROD BLAGOJEVICH said that “one thing I’d be interested in” is a 501(c)(4) organization. ROD BLAGOJEVICH explained the 501(c)(4) idea to SEIU Official and said that the 501(c)(4) could help “our new Senator [Senate Candidate 1].” SEIU Official agreed to “put that flag up and see where it goes.”
110. On November 12, 2008, ROD BLAGOJEVICH talked with Advisor B. ROD BLAGOJEVICH told Advisor B that he told SEIU Official, “I said go back to [Senate Candidate 1], and, and say hey, look, if you still want to be a Senator don’t rule this out and then broach the idea of this 501(c)(4) with her.”

Illinois politics, and politics in general is so absolutely hilarious. Why do some politicians try so hard to destroy themselves and their families just for a few bucks. Lazy, drunk with power, I have never in my life seen people who are so afraid of hard work. They will do anything to grab what they think is easy money only to find out that, in the end, they are the equivalent of sideshow carnival fools.
pages 58-60 show that two Advisors (A & B) from the Obama transition team were actually negotiating with this scumbag for what exactly he should get for the senate seat.

Unless, these two, and perhaps Obama, were actually in on the sting with the FBI, then it raises the question of why they were actually talking to him at all.

Coming from Chicago I can tell you there are union leaders, politicans, the mafia, police, lawyers and local gangs involved. That is the Chicago political machine. Also there are thousands of patronage jobs, with the main task being “drum up the votes.”
My wife used to belong to this flagrantly corrupt union. We still get the “SEIU is working for YOU” crap in the mail. Makes great lining for the kitty-litter box.
Now how is it a stretch to believe that a product (Obama) of the Chicago political machine would fake his own birth certificate?

The ‘mafia’ doesn’t really exist anymore, the people you listed above ARE the mafia. Mafia takes orders from the politicians now, not the other way around. It’s been like that in Chicago since Daley (Sr.) got his claws into the city.
Yes, I’m from a ‘burb of CHicago, and I am not surprised about this. THis is how Chicago is run. It looks to me like Obama’s team might have been the whistleblowers though. At one point Governor Rod is hyperventilating because the President-elect won’t give him anything except appreciation.
THe DNC just relocated to Chicago. This looks like the national wresting power from the local chapter.

Daley himself was a gang leader. He and his fire chief and his police chief were leaders of the Irish Athletic Club on the Southside of Chicago. His son just follows in his footstep. The sons of mafia leaders generally became lawyers, politicians and union leaders

From reading the complaint which talks of both the SEIU and Change to Win, one of the possible links on that short list would have to be Anna Burger or someone very close to her.

Lt Gov Pat Quinn in a news conference called on Blago to step aside, not resign from office until it has been determined whether or not Blago can function effectively as Governor.
$5 says the arrogant a$$ appoints himself as US Senator.
Is Pat Quinn a democrat?
Quinn himself is talked about a lot in the complaint as Deputy Governor..a legal substitute term for his office.
He may bite the big one also unless he sings.
Who is next on the list to replace him.
From the complaint if that is who they are talking about he should resign also.

Senate Candidate 1 is referred to one as a her , so the Jarret thing could be possible, it had to be someone the SEIU was pushing.
They would have already known Jarrett was headed to the White House staff, so you have to see who they were endorsing to fill the spot.
There was a rumor of a daughter that was openly gay. of some high up politician who was in the running.
Jarrett dropped out of the race, the only candidates publically named are Danny Davis and Jesse Jackson Jr.
Davis has spoken openly today, so I dont think he’s Candidate #5? who through a third party, was willing to pony up a Mil$ for the seat.
I still havent found out if J.J.Jr has made a any public statement today.

• Former Chicago city councilman and current U.S. Congressman Danny Davis.
• Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. White, Jones, and Davis are all black.
• Tammy Duckworth, an Iraq veteran who ran for election to the United States Congress in 2006 and lost. She’s currently Blagojevich’s Secretary for Veteran’s Affairs.
• Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
• U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky, who is the Chief Deputy Whip and a former Illinois assemblywoman.
Well, sort of… he did want to create jobs (for him and his wife), keep people (he and his wife) in their homes, and fix the budget (his). But the people of Illinois will have to fend for themselves.

This is a VERY likely scenario. Governor Bag-o-Hammers appoints himself to the vacant senate seat. The Lt. Governor steps up and pardons him from any state wrong-doing, and then Obama does the same from the federal side after he’s sworn in. The dems get to keep the senate seat (I know it was never in question, but…), the FBI gets to look like they’re doing their job, and it’s early enough in the Obamessiah’s presidency to not have any long-term repercussions.

I know it is easy to rejoice in the downfall of people who are our ideological enemies but I don’t see any real reason for the giddy attitude expressed by some people here.
It is quite possible that Obama is somehow involved or implicated in this scandal. If so, this will drag on for years. That has the potential to cripple the federal government in time of war and economic turmoil.
There are two things we should remember. The power of the presidency to stonewall and delay investigations is enormous. Remember Nixon and Clinton. Secondly, those charged with investigating the scandal in Congress and the executive branch are quite possibly involved in the scandal or have reasons to protect colleagues who are.
This unfolding scandal has the potential to distract this bunch of clowns who frankly don’t possess the ability and skill to run the government in the best of times. It is our liberty, prosperity and safety at stake when these clowns get distracted. Remember that people were very concerned about Nixon and the nuclear arsenal during the last days of his administration. Evidently Haig was concerned enough to contact others in the chain of command and warn them of his concerns. Desperate people will do desperate things. Clinton waged his wars in Kosovo. What might Obama do should he be deeply implicated?
Either way, I think it is a good thing that corruption is exposed. But, resolving the problem is different from exposing it. And trying to survive 4 years of scandal while we are in a war and economic downturn may just make us long for the good old days of Watergate and Lewinsky.
