The IL Atorney General said the legislature is considering special legislation for a special election for this seat. That could be good news to flip the seat to Republican. Run against the “culture of corruption” to quote Ms. Pelosi.

As I said in another post, Blago appoints himself to the vacant seat. The Lt. Gov pardons Blago for any state wrong-doing and after The Obamessiah is coronated in January, he pardons Blago for any federal wrong-doing. This won’t be a negative hit against The One because it will be done so early in his reign.

I agree that picture is hilarious. The only problem here in Illinois is that the Republican party is deader than dead. It would be hard for anyone from a normal part of this country to believe how dead. Alan Keyes had to come over here to run against Obama for the Senate because there were simply no reasonable Republican candidates, that’s how dead.

Of course, the spin I’m hearing now is “Isn’t it good that the governor stated that he wasn’t getting any satisfaction from the responses from Team Obama? That really helps Obama doesn’t it?” Well… What about the fact that someone on Team Obama KNEW what the governor was up to — and failed to report it? Isn’t that just as bad??
In fairness, the Republicans did have a relatively viable candidate before the affirmative action electee’s stooges pulled their usual dirty tricks to eliminate him.

Excellent point..being completely glossed over. Someone, somewhere in the BHO camp had been approached and knew what was going on. Did they tell Obama, Did Obama tell Blogo to knock it off? Who was approached, who told Rahm and did Rahm tell BHO?? At the next prsser just ask Obama what he knew, and who in his transition knew anything.

I’ll give the Obama camp some credit for calling for his resignation. That’s a departure from the typical democrat circling of the wagons, although I suspect it has as much to do with Obama ties to Madigan and other democrats currently feuding with Blago.
It could also be that Rahm turned Blago in because he was shaking them down for the Senate seat… but that’s speculative.
Still, we should at least acknowledge that they’re calling for him to step down. It’s what we’d expect from Republicans if there was an (R) after Blago’s name.
That said… I’m still very curious about the identity of candidate #5.
The members of the Chicago team which cleared the way for Obama to gain the White House won’t be in place for his reelection. How disappointed he’ll be with only one term. Change we can believe in!

You know, this guy and the bimbo that he is married to, strike me as the types that will roll over better than Lassie at a talent show if there is even the remotest possibility that they can cut a deal. They apparently either have no sense of honor, or have been on the receiving end of Liberal Honor Systems and thus will demonstrate to the world what it means to be a Liberal who is caught.
This is only starting and I believe that this is going to get incredibly interesting over the coming weeks and months.

I don’t. I think Rahm-Obama saw a perfect opportunity to drive a wooden stake into Douche-Blagojevich’s heart. Obama spoke with Blago about the empty senate seat; that’s a fact. If Blago mentioned taking money for it, Obama could be linked to the corruption. This way, Rahm tells Obama they have to go to the FBI. If anything points to Obama in the ensuing investigation, they deflect it by saying, “We told the FBI about this. How can we be involved?” The MSM will use this as their excuse to pardon Obama, if it comes to that.
Personally, I’d like to hear the recording of the Obama-Blagojevich meeting. That would be interesting. If one exists.

However, around here we typically rail against Democrats for not calling upon a corrupt member of their party to step down. I agree that there could be a little bit of revenge involved in this play, but we don’t know that for certain yet.
I’d rather see them call for him to step down and be done with him. Illinois has suffered under Blago long enough that even if this is a power play by Obama, I can live with it.
I believe as far as we will get will be the debate on whether or not Obama did talk with Blagojevich about the seat. We have every reason to believe it did happen which does indeed make Obama’s denial extremely interesting. However, he seems to be able so far to get away with such lies.
Blagojevich’s arrest has had at least one positive impact on Obama. This story has all but buried the grand jury subpoena story on the Rezko/Obama land purchase. (5050 Greenwood, I believe?)
