More about Mrs. Blago
Yesterday, I noted Illinois First Lady Patty Blagojevich’s rather unladylike mouth, as detailed in the criminal complaint against her crooked hubby.

Welcome to the Chicago Way. This is what America voted for in 2008 — albeit with a lot of perfume applied to it by the media to hide the stink.
The lovely Patty Blagojevich is the daughter of Chicago alderman Richard Mell. I’m sure that’s where she learned her flowery language and shake-down techniques.
You want an expose, look into the links between the banks owned by Amrish Mahajan (Mutual Bank) and the Giannoulias family (Broadway Bank) and all the state business and real estate deals (including Obama’s) and that ran through those banks. Alexi Giannoulias is the Illinois State Treasurer, who, you might recall, came out of nowhere when he was endorsed by Obama.
Conveniently, Patty Blagojevich is a realtor who has made thousands of dollars in commissions from Hot Rod’s cronies. The Chicago Tribune has detailed the commissions-as-politcal-donations policy of the Blagojevich’s many times.
Basically, the only way to make it big in Chicago politics is to pay to play, and this is an environment in which Obama not only existed but thrived.
To say that corruption in Chicago and Cook County is pervasive would be an understatement. Unfortunately America will now have to live with the decision of chosing a Chicago politician as president and what that means for the nation as favors are repaid over the next four years (and how Chicago will be saddled with debt when it’s inevitably chosen as host for the 2016 Olympics now that America is back in favor with the world).
And let me tell you, Blagojevich isn’t an outlier. Chicago also has the corrupting influences of the Daleys, Jacksons, Strogers, Mells and, of course, Tony Rezko. And they’re just the tip of this nasty, growing iceberg — a city and county that sucks its residents dry via its high property taxes, gas taxes, 10% sales tax, nannyism and myriad of incompetent political hires. I’m feeling all hope and changey.
And reader Peter adds: “Mention of Patricia Blagojevich in her husband’s indictment is not the first time she has been mentioned in some questionable deals. Here is an article from the Chicago Tribune about a real estate transaction that she brokered which had implications for influence in government contracting. The article indicates this is the third such deal she has been involved with.”
We haven’t heard the last from Patty F’ing Blagojevich.

In light of this wonderful little tale about Chicago politics, when are we going to begin looking into what may or may not be David Paterson’s motivations in the Senate appointment for New York.
Paterson has already stated rather flatly that he has been receiving “advice” from several forces within NY political circles. And, since Teddy Kennedy threw his support to Obama early, could this be the reason Caroline Kennedy is getting the nod?… without any experience whatsoever!

Just what is it about Chicago and Illinois that allows this continuous corruption? Every entity falls into that trap once in awhile but most places clean it up-for at least a little while. (well, there is New Jersey and Atlantic City). Chicago and it’s residents seem to revel in their vulgarity.

In stock market parlance I’m shorting Chicago. I believe the Blago scandal/crime will drag on for two years minimum right up to the beginning of the 2012 election cycle.
All the while the Chicago style will be applied to Obama and right or wrong every move he makes will be scrutinized against his Chicago roots. He’s tainted, period and I seriously doubt there will be a second term.
I am in agreement with you there. As you said, right or wrong, Obama will prove to be an albratros that the US cannot carry. I’d bet money, if he makes it through his first term, he will be doing well. For many, many reasons, the Obama administration is doomed before it begins. Partly, because those on the right will be on him like white on rice – payback and Obama will give them plenty of reason.

unfortunately – tainting seldom seems to hurt liberal politicians. Think of the number of indicted and/or convicted libs who were re-elected. Think of Sleaze in Chief WJClinton. I wouldn’t count on a little peripheral mud (up to and including over the eyeballs) as doing much damage.

Netfest. I have lived in Illinois my whole life. If there is one thing that anyone has learned is that Chicago is Illinois! Ask anyone from Chicago. I have lived in the central part of Illinois. I married a Chicago girl and went to school with many Chicago individuals. There isn’t one of them that doesn’t believe that anything south of Kankakee matters. They are dismissive and arrogant. I got a big kick out of all the Chicago stations and people yesterday when they were talking about Blago’s arrogance. He doesn’t sound any different than anyone I have met from Chicago. They speak like he does and believes that they are above others. They suffer the same delusion.
As a former Illinoisan (born and raised in Springfield) with family members who have suffered at the hands of Blago… I am just so happy about all of this. It’s like Christmas came early this year. Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!

After watching Greta Van Sustern tonight and seeing the association of all these Chicago people like Axelrod and Blagojevich and the rest, I can’t help fear that Obama is more involved than the media would like us to believe. It is hard to believe that the Obama administration was not interested in who replaced him in the Senate and did nothing with ‘the Governor’ to influence that choice.
I fear that Obama is in the middle of this mess and wonder what in the world would happen if he was? This country does not need such a crisis during such a turbulent time nor Joe Biden as President.
What a mess…..God help us.
I don’t see why anyone is surprised that Blago wanted a cooshy high paid job for his wife for political favors — isn’t that what Michelle Obama got when she got a $200,000 just because her husband won a senate seat and then directed millions in earmarks to her hospital?
