NYT celebrates anti-Prop. 8 mob

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 10, 2008 09:45 AM

Blogger Jane Q. Republican points to this NYT piece today heralding the anti-Prop. 8 activists on Day Without A Gay day.

Notice anything missing?

Yup, the fishwrap of record whitewashes the anti-Prop. 8 mob. Some rage is not fit to print.

Sorry MM, I know opposing viewpoints help us all become more informed and knowledgeable about the issues you discuss on this blog, but I refuse to add to the NYT’s traffic count by reading the linked article; I’ll just take your word for it.

Well, Without a Gay Day should quell the Anti-Prop 8 attacks against the Mormons and Christians – at least for one day.

Not surprising. No one’s missing here. You’d think – seeing as Prop 8 opponents are so much smarter than us supporters of marriage – they’d be able to conclude that “Day without a Latino” was a flop. Didn’t they think this too would fail?

This is the exact argument I used with my friends, and they all cannot believe that I would “wimp out” on this.

And then they laid off 50 people where I work yesterday (economy related). Guess who all came to work today…

I’m still trying to figure out what they’re really trying to accomplish with this. My guess is that anyone who doesn’t come in today because of their participation in the Day Without A Gay day already works at a place that caters to the gay community. So they’re not going in to work at places that are probably going to be closed today in support of them. This has no effect on the rest of the world.

Here’s how I see this: they are equating their gayness with sickness. I mean, how many of us call-in that we are not coming in to work if we are not ill, or that there isn’t another PROBLEM in our lives that needs out attention (assuming it isn’t a lie simply to avoid work).

If these gay-fascists want to do this, it only tells me that they are admitting that they are sick degenerate punks. If I were a boss at a workplace and this happened, I’d be compelled to tell them to make sure that they make sure they fix that gayness so it does not spread and effect anyone else.

I still don’t understand the logic of a ’sick in.’ I live in a state that didn’t vote against Prop 8, so this doesn’t affect me at all.

I support the rights of gays and lesbians to get married – if only to ensure they have equal rights with regards to being harassed by evil in-laws. However, you need to work within the system. You want to try this again – ok, look at why people didn’t want gay marriage and work on those reasons.

If you want to convince someone to subscribe to your viewpoint on a subject, you don’t harass them or call in sick or threaten them – you educate them as to why you believe in it.

From the article …“I think we are demanding as a community that we democratize our processes and ensure we all have a voice,”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t an election give us all a voice? Isn’t that the definition of Democracy? Hold an election and accept the results?

Or maybe we should take the same approach to the Presidential election. Social upheaval until McCain is sworn in as President.

Or at least we could have a Call in Conservative day? Although I would prefer to wait until the weather gets better. I suggest Flag Day June 14. Should be a nice day to go fishing.

By the way, “Day without a Gay” was a big disappointment:

SAN FRANCISCO — A daylong work stoppage during which employees were encouraged to “call in gay” to express support for same-sex marriage drew spotty participation nationwide Wednesday, with some gay rights activists praising the concept but questioning its effect.

In San Francisco’s gay Castro district, residents and merchants said they endorsed the message behind “Day Without a Gay” but didn’t think a work stoppage was practical given the poor economy and the strike’s organization.

    Source: Fox News

Ya think it might have been a bad idea to put politics before practicality in this economy? Never mind that “Day without a Latino” – which had greater notification and organization (I use that term loosely) was also a flop.

Just like “Don’t Buy Gas on Tuesday!” campaigns. It’s impossible to get a massive amount of people to something on such a large scale when, as individuals, the demands of such protests have potential consequences – like losing your job.
