“Day Without a Gay” ends, world survives

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 11, 2008 09:35 AM

The sun rose today. The world didn’t end. So now, the anti-Prop. 8 mob is back to bashing Mormons and denying that gay activists have gone overboard with their blacklist tactics and bullying campaigns.

Via the Deseret News:

An advertisement in last Friday’s New York Times that defended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other Proposition 8 supporters was a disingenuous olive branch from a group of “culture warriors,” an activist group fired back this week.
Truth Wins Out, a New York nonprofit group, has taken out a full-page advertisement in Thursday’s Salt Lake Tribune to combat claims of “violence and intimidation” against same-sex marriage opponents.

Last week, the Washington-based Becket Fund for Religious Liberty denounced incidents of vandalism at LDS churches and declared “No Mob Veto” in its ad. The advertisement was signed by a dozen religious leaders and activists.

“These anti-gay activists are crying wolf on the Proposition 8 protests, but they actually are a wolf in sheep’s clothing that preaches religious tolerance while practicing the most defamatory form of religious bigotry,” said Wayne Besen, executive director of Truth Wins Out.

Once again, “tolerance” is not enough. You. Must. Approve.

Funny how, going through the legal democratic process and garnering support from some of the Democratic party’s staunchest supporters (blacks and Hispanics) is suddenly a “defamatory form of religious bigotry” but the ignorantly wrong Prop. 8 commercial that showed Mormons trashing a lesbian couple’s house (which didn’t happen)…well, that’s just political discourse.

What part of the First Amendment is lost on these people? And where in the Constitution did they get the notion they have a “right” not to have their choices, behavior, and lifestyle questioned…this happens to EVERYONE. Hell, for over 100 years, it was LEGAL to kill a Mormon in Missouri. Were there ever laws that made it legal to kill gays?

You lost. Perhaps you should LISTEN to us and make a few changes:

    Stop the thuggery and intimidation.

Stop putting homosexuality in the classroom.

Stop attacking churches and religious groups/individuals who don’t agree with you.

Stop suing businesses that cater to a certain group in order to *make* them serve you.

Start respecting the First Amendment rights of people – especially with regards to freedom of speech and religion – and you’d probably be surprised that many people wouldn’t care if they knew a group like Bash Back! wasn’t going to trash their church or threaten – as one commenter here did – to take our children and *make* us like you.

Look, I really don’t care how someone wants to live their life (I know some here disagree with that). That’s your business. I have no problem with gays (have/had friends who are gay). But it is different when someone wants to force their life decisions down my throat and DEMAND we change our entire social construct to accomodate it. What they ultimately want is to destroy any and all Christian values and since of family loyalty in our children and THAT is exactly why the Progressive/Liberals are willing to take a chance with such a small voting bloc.

EQ, that is so true. The homosexual activists used a legitimate solution when they tried “Day without a Gay”, and it had zero impact. That in itself is an answer…despite all the propaganda that has been fed to children for the past dozen or so years.

Even though I thought the idea was a bit silly and immature, the concept of “boycotting” by not showing up for work (or patronizing businesses) is the essence of making their voices heard in a legitimate way. That I can respect.

However, the answer they got back must not have pleased them, so they’re back to harassment and intimidation tactics.

The gays and liberals are attempting to disenfranchise the votes of tens of millions of California voters. If the Courts throw out the vote, then the people would be well advised to change the California Constitution to create a new provision stripping the court of many of the areas of law it may review as well as disbarring any attorney that challenges the new law. They should also throw in disbarment for any judge whose decisions are overturned more than 25% of the time – clearly an indicator of incompetence. The 9th Federal Court of Appeals would be in big trouble in San Fran as they are overturned more than 80% of the time by the Supreme Court.
