Obama press conference on Daschle, Blago: “I have never spoken to the governor on this subject;” “appalled”
Just returned to the office and tuned into Obama’s press conference on Blago-quiddick. Fill me in if you caught the beginning (he intro’ed Tom Daschle as HHS Sec’y nominee).
The One says he’s confident no representative of his “would have any part of” deals for his soon-to-be vacant Senate seat.
Says he was “appalled” and “disappointed” by Blago.
Reporter asks: “What’s wrong with politics in Illinois?”
Obama says Illinois is like other states in having wheeler-dealers mixed in with good public servants.
No, there’s definitely something wrong with Illinois.
Reuters reporter changes the subject to health care.
Because, you know, Reuters is tired of the glee.
***
Major Garrett summing up the presser. Obama repeated call for Blago to step down. Pushed for auto bailout. Addressed Bush tax cuts — hasn’t decided whether to repeal them.
***
Ed Morrissey has photos of Obama and Blago from 11/12/ and 12/2 of this year: “Depends on how you define ‘contact.’”
It’s the Clinton-Gore years all over again.
***
More:
“I have never spoken to the governor on this subject,” Obama said, adding that he has asked his staff to collect the facts about their contact with Blagojevich on the matter.
“This Senate seat does not belong to any politician to trade,” Obama said. “It belongs to the people of Illinois.”

True, and both Vince Foster and Donald Young were unavailable for comment.
Awww…you miss me, poor thing.
Anywho…I drop in here rarely these days. It’s like a continuous cycle of the same predictable themes (and comments), so there’s really no need to read it every day. And honestly, with the election over with satisfactory results, there’s just something less compelling about this place.
Oh — and actually, I have been running around like crazy buying Xmas presents AND preparing for a Holiday Party my boyfriend and I are having. I have to ask, did you assume that I’m a secret Muslim jihadist Black Panther Weatherman Revivalist Satanic Church member who eats Christian babies? And when were you first onto me?
This sounds so Clinton-esque:
It all depends on what the meaning of “this subject” is.
He could have talked to the Governor about the Senate seat, but if, at the time he said the above quote, he thought “this subject” was something else, like the press conference he was currently giving, then he didn’t technically lie, he only deceived you because you assumed he meant one thing when he said “this subject”, when he actually meant something completely different.
I.E.
Remember, he’s a lawyer.
roflmao – you are such an idiot!

Don’t count your chickens before they come home to roost.
The Electoral College hasn’t voted for President yet. And either of the following could prevent Soetoro/Obama from taking office in January:
1) The Supreme Court confirming that he is not a natural born citizen of the United States
2) Indictment and conviction for high crimes and misdemeanors.
That picture of thast piece of dung with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth is beyond disgusting. Well, FEDS, you were a little too late to stop him from becoming the worst and most danerous poresident in our history. Please, Obama, kick your habit up to 5 packs a day.
Yeah, I really do hate this man and his team of totalitarian liars.
And Daschle is the turd that held up President Bush’s judicial nominees for the first two years of Bush’s Presidency…until Daschle go booted by “We the People”. It’s sick for Obama to bring Daschle back in any capacity whatsoever. That alone is slimy politics.
It takes so little to make the simple among us laugh.
Um…I’m feeling pretty confident about this one. But good luck!
Freudian??
Yes nyk, you are a joke and that makes us laugh.
That you live in OUR country makes us cry.
I love the picture of the “O” with the cig hanging out of his mouth. That must keep showing up. Never let it go away. Please!!!!
I am planning on asking Santa for a big lcd for Christmas. I sure hope the messiah comes through with my tax credit check so I can pay for it or I will go bankrupt and the government(you suckers) can pay for it. lol
Well, then my work is done! (Although, I can’t take all the credit. Some 68,724,396 other Obama voters — that’s 22.6% of the U.S., and the second-highest winning percentage ever, trailed only by Ronald Reagan in 1984 — pitched in. Which pretty much means it’s not YOUR country anymore, huh? You can name call on blogs all you want, but it’s not nearly as satisfying as those of us on the left feel knowing that. I’ll get you a tissue…)
Oh — and enjoy the next four years, Neanderthal.
I guess it depends on your definition of contact – but it almost sounds like: “uhhh… I did not have ..uhhh… contactual relations with ..uhhh… that man.”
All I can say is…have another cigarette, Obama, and a bourbon, and hope the staff has covered the bases.
hope and change.
“…….. I’m shocked ………. SHOCKED!”

Want to bet?
They will be busy years.
I am taking odds that the obamamessiah on his first week in office fires all 93 Attorney Generals and that the msm will be quieter than a church mouse on Christmas Eve.

“This is Sparta!”
Because that was not (to borrow a phrase from Mrs. Blag) the effin point of the attorney firing scandal and you know it and/or are willfully ignoring it.
If I am starting a business, I can hire whomever the hell I want. It does not mean I can also fire them for illegal reasons. Employment at will is a delusion and red herring. There are limits.
Politico.com has these 7 questions they would like to ask Obama.
They also have some interesting quotes like this one:
So the Pres-elect does not know what his staff is doing. Makes you wonder who is actually running the show.
Bush fires 6 AG’s and is flamed by the MSM, Clinton fires all 93 AG’s and not a word and liberals wonder why conservatives rail against a double standard.
Interesting analogy that if a person is starting a business they can fire whomever they want, maybe that should extend further to how a private business caters to the a specific customer base and how they run their business. I will write this slow for you to understand…(hint—Dr. Neil Warren and eHarmony)
I just want to see the trolls at least acknowledge the media bias when it comes to this stuff. Alas Chap, you and the trolls are incapable of such reasoning since it is consistently “above your paygrade”
GSP
“This is Sparta!”
Not suprisingly gunslinger, you have no idea what I am talking about or why it is a very different thing to replace all attorney generals when beginning your administration as opposed to selectively firing ones mid term for political purposes. I am not going to try to explain because, as with so many things when it comes to ethics, you kind of either get it or you don’t.
So while ethics may be a particularly tough subject for you, clearly equivocation and false analogies are not.
The first part of that is almost the exact opposite of what I said. The rest of your post is absolutely irrelevant, but maybe if you went back and looked at those threads about eHarmony, you might get a clue as to what I actually think about it (hint-I supported eHarmony).
Yeah, yeah, classy hanging from the lip cigarette boy. You are completely and utterly a liar.
Who is this NYK person who always seems to ignore the points made by others? If NYK is going to try to understand what other people have to say why come here? Many of us are truly worried that BO is a screw up and a screw loose. I didn’t appreciate the way private citizens were targeted for personal destruction by the media/BO campaign/democrat government officials in order to try to score political favor or points – in fact I found it quite ominous. Assuming BO is a human, the immense power of the presidency will have a corrupting influence on him and his selection of recycled Clintonites for his cabinet and with the media acting as his personal prostitutes, there will be little oversight to help him toe the line. Their loyalty is to their Fuhrer not the nation. Usually, when wealthy or powerful humans are surrounded by 100% adoring sycophants and yes men, they quickly loose touch with reality and become nasty and crazy – not what BO or the nation needs. Keep treating him as some kind of messiah and what you will get is Waco or Jonestown.
It is frightening to see BO lie when it is not smart (re: I never had talks with that governor of Illinois) politically and no media reporter/newspaper/network will do anything except cover up for him, lie for him, and viciously attack those who rightfully criticize him.
BO and the Democrats frighten me because they do not follow the Constitution, are frequently associated with felons and extremists, and have great contempt for us – the citizens of our country. Who the hell made any of these Dem leaders special? Oh Caroline Kennedy wants to be Senator? Well she must have it! Why would anyone think to consider what the people of New York would want?
Perhaps NYK and others like him/her would be more understanding if their children’s confidential health information was made public and media azzholes made lurid and sick comments about them on TV, had state employees spying on NYK’s records and tax reports, and was constantly lied about and called Hitler regularly. In fact, I expect that such will happen regularly and democrats will be targeted too.
Chapoutier willfully overlooks the small matter of the Arkansas AG investigating the Whitewater fraud being fired, and all the replacement AGs appointed being selected on the basis of loyal to Bill – including getting that pesky Arkansas AG replaced by a loyal friend and the investigation being given a partial birth abortion. Firing all the AGs gave Bill cover to fire one in particular and replace all with his cronies. That is indeed corrupt as it gets.
