Specter must go.
Ditto on that. He’s a been a festering sore upon the body politic for way too long. Better to have a thieving Democrat like Flood than Specter.
Oregon’s two senators failed to vote. Were they chicken?
The Big 3 don’t make Prius
It is late and it has been an ugly day but can anybody explain why Reid (D-NV)is in the nay column.
Reid?? Reid of all people voted against cloture?
Oh wow! What a hoot!
“Procedural vote”
It’s a procedural thing, so he can reintroduce it again next month.
Can anyone doubt that on other issues in the new Congress the Democrats will be able to invoke cloture?
Reid voted No for procedural reasons after he knew it would not pass.
I am sure that Reid will reintroduce this next year and it will be an even worse bill for the taxpayers with more protections for the UAW.
Well, as far as Missouri is concerned, I am looking for a conservative for the Senate and another in the 8th Congressional district. Or maybe I will just run myself. How’s this sound: Senator Durangodarlin or Congresswoman Durangodarlin?
I love my two Senators from Oklahoma. Always doing the right thing.
And mine are from Michigan. Aways doing the wrong thing.
PS: Go to bed Michelle! I know your kids won’t let you sleep in.
I have it even worse. I have the two from California.
Mine are from WA State… YOu know home of the Atheist Religion Bashing Christmas Display and if that was not enough they are considering adding a Festivus Pole and letting Fred Phelps and his group display a message on the Capital Rotunda…
What was the excuse for why the 12 senators didn’t vote? Too busy? Too lazy? Duck and cover? Anyone?
I find it amazing that we pay these people to make such imperfect legislation that mocks the Constitution and further plunges the country into economic chaos (oh, you know our kiddies and grandkiddies will just pay for it all with their saved UAW jobs…wink).
It’s nice to know (not) that that old fogey Warner from VA voted for this turd of a bill. He’s the same pissant making fuss about the Navy moving 2 or 3 carriers out of Norfolk to Mayport, Florida. Not that this idiot even realizes that to concentrate the Navy’s Atlantic fleet is not only strategically stupid but not something that our Pacific fleet is even doing.
What a way for these old farts like Dole, Warner, and Domenici to close out their political careers than to vote for something that submerges the US in more red. Sometimes being an old fart in Congress doesn’t necessarily make you wiser.
Hey you spineless Republicans. We’re watching you every day. It’s not like it was ten years ago. You can’t hide from us now with the internet. We’re fifty million strong and conservatives have values that are stronger than you whore mongering.
Wait, Where’s Obama? I didn’t see him vote “PRESENT”…
Obama is too busy trying to make sure he and his staff are on the same page over Blago.
I find it delicious that “the one” has to spend time making himself righteous before his minions..I almost feel sorry for my (democrat) Marysville neighbors in WA…
Onama resigned, he no longer is a US Senator. He was getting tired of the work anyway. The longest he has ever done anything was part time adjunct Lecturer.
I’m very surprised to see Brownback on that list. He voted no on the bank bailout and it’s weird that he decided to vote yest this time.
I see that Libby Dole’s last hurrah as a Senator was to go over to the Dark Side of the Farce. Shameful.
Finally Arizona has both Senators on the Right (as in correct) side. So many Republicans favorite Democrat/Independent Joe Lieberman -Connecticut- voted for the bail-out. Senator Lieberman may well be Juan Hernandez McCain’s good friend-he is not ours.
I imagine this bail-out-government partnership issue will be with us for awhile. We may well lose some battles but fight we must until we can take back the House and someday Senate.
I imagine Senator Libby Dole is a very nice person. I hope she enjoys her retirement. We deserve it.
Wrong Cloture Vote
That is for the AMT tax
What did they do amend the House version on to the AMT bill?
HR 7321 was the bail out bill
I’m not the least surprised my RINO senator Dole voted for the bailout. I am actually glad she will be gone.
The 12 on the Not Voting list probably deserve more attention then those voting yes. These are truly people without a compass. At least the Yes voters took a stand. There are 8 Republicans on that list. At this stage of the game if you can’t take on a position on this issue there is probably nothing you will take a stand on.
Let’s see, final email to Senator Dole from this NC resident:
“Thanks for going out with a Democrat whimper, Liddy! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
PS: this kind of vote is why you lost.”
Yeah but did you see what McCain had to say about detainee abuse? Looks a lot like he is comparing our military to the enemy.
With all he had to say I am sure he will be the media’s favorite “Maverick” once again.
In case you missed it here it is:
“The Committee’s report details the inexcusable link between abusive interrogation techniques used by our enemies who ignored the Geneva Conventions and interrogation policy for detainees in U.S. custody,” McCain, who was a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, said in a statement. “These policies are wrong and must never be repeated.”
Good news. This needs to be repeated and re-defeated as the Union/mafia/corruption bailout that it is. No welfare for unions.
A few non-sequiturs:
It seems strange that Obama resigned his senatorial seat so soon. He’s given up a couple of months of influence, including a chance to vote for the bailout that he supports. Could it be that a deal to install a clone from Chicago in his vacated seat fell through the other day?
I live in Michigan, hate it, Levins and Stabenow always vote wrong. My real state is Idaho, where Crapo (unfortunate name) almost always votes correctly, but the other Idaho senator “Wide-Stance” Craig, usually votes wrong. He missed this vote (perhaps he was visiting the Men’s Room). Anyway, we’re rid of him. Hallalujuh!!!
Both PA Sens voted Yea? No surprise, there. PA is a blue state. At least I was glad to see that Saxby Chambliss voted Nay.
Alas, poor Crap Sandwich 3.0, we hardly knew ye!
Damn, but you’re full of “good” news, CommentGuy. I looked through the histories of the two bills, and there was no appending noted.
Keep up the skeer, gang.
And now there is the dirty dark cloud of President Bush or Paulsin tapping the TARP funds to bail out the auto-industry. Sure lets the Senators off the hook. Throw the old bum out.
He usually votes “present”, if at all.
Notice a trend with my ARK Senators. On any Highly sensitive vote.. One Votes FOR, One Votes against. Then they will swich for or against the opposite order on the next one.. that way they can come back and say.. yea I voted FOR this one you didn’t want..but I voted AGAINST that other thing.
Where can I apply for one of those non-union $30.00/hr auto factory jobs?
the courage of their convictions, eh?
And again both Senators (Mike Enzi, Dr John Barrasso) from Wyoming vote NO. Way to go guys.
The 10 pro-bailout Republicans are perfect examples as to what’s wrong with the Republican Party. They are not conservatives. How many of those 10 are not returning, those returning Senators should be run out of town…well, remembered next time their up for re-election anyway.
As far as the Orygun senators go, their mine(grrrr), Smith has probably pulled up stakes and come back home to lick his wounds, he is an aisle reacher of the worst kind. Wyden, who knows, probably lost in 1 of his dreams of harvesting lumber without logging the forests, his an idiot.
Eight votes stopped it, look at the 12 no votes, if they’d have voted it would have passed, glad some them were getting ready for another trip at our expense. I only see a possible 3 no votes of the 12.
Alexander (R-TN) is recovering from surgery. His office reports that he would have voted no.
When we were having difficulty getting conservative judges approved by the Senate a short time back, many of us were proponents of the so-called nuclear option. Much to chagrin of many of us, we felt that McCain and his “Gang of 12″ (or however many it was) sold conservatives down the river by preserving the filibuster. In hind-sight, we wouldn’t be celebrating this victory had the nuclear option been utilized at that time. I hate to have to admit it, but McCain’s actions at that time is probably the only thing that’s going to keep the Senate from running roughshod over Republicans the next four years.
I voted against Cornyn- Texas this past election. I wonder if he his getting the message that riding George W Bush’s coat tails? has a shelf life, he didn’t vote. I see Hutchinson is still carrying George W Bush’s water, can’t wait till she is up for re election to VOTE for ANYONE BUT HUTCHINSON…who knows maybe the Lizard People, they are building a constituency
I’m sure McCain hates to admit it, too.
SENATOR DURANGODARLIN, we have voted a dead guy to be our senator, and another guy who’s sole qualification to be our governor was that he had enough free time to walk across our state. bond is done, stick a fork in him.
Sadly I think the big 3 will get their money somehow from the government. And in the end, we will all still pay for it as taxpayers.
No surprise, my wonderful Senators, Big Lib Brown and Weeping George Voinovich, both voted for it. Ugh.
I have no problem with the union. It is the right for the people to organize for better wages. I am for a “free” union not government sponsored or taking wages without consent. The problem is the republicans have not fought the extreme corruption of corporations and instead codify them. I don’t think there should be no any bailout period.
