BDS, Iraqi journalist edition

An unhinged Iraqi journalist fulfills the dream of every MSNBC anchor and NYTimes editorial columnist by throwing his shoes at President Bush during an impromptu news conference in Baghdad.

Watch.

Thankfully, President Bush was not hurt.

***

Snort. Patterico writes: “I think I heard that Iraqi journalist scream ‘Don’t tase me, bro!’ as he got swarmed.”

Reader David: “Dear Michelle, It is amazing – with all the hoopla about the Secret Service – that a civilian Iraqi reporter, in Baghdad yet, could complete TWO violent shoe-tosses at President Bush without any molesting from his protective detail. In fact the only person who actually confronted, and in some sense “tripped-up,” the “protestor” was a fellow journalist. The Secret Service was no where to be seen. It appears from the video clip of the incident that they poured-out from a back door many moments after the shoe attack was finished. If this reporter form Cairo had had a gun, Bush would have been dead and probably from many bullet wounds. The man had a virtual eternity to manage his attack. The Secret Service was a disgrace! Argh! Are you as hopping mad as I?”

Hmmmm. Via reader Duane:

Kidnapped Iraqi reporter freed, says no ransom paid
19 Nov 2007 13:33:27 GMT
Source: Reuters
BAGHDAD, Nov 19 (Reuters) – An Iraqi TV journalist who was kidnapped last week in a busy Baghdad neighbourhood said he was released unharmed before dawn on Monday.

Muntazer al-Zaidi, a correspondent for the independent al- Baghdadiya television station, said he spent more than two days blindfolded, barely eating and drinking, after armed men forced him into a car as he walked to work on Friday morning in the bustling Bab al-Sharji area of central Baghdad.

“My release is a miracle. I couldn’t believe I was still alive,” Zaidi, 28, told Reuters by telephone.
Zaidi said the kidnappers had beaten him until he lost consciousness. They used his necktie to blindfold him and bound his hands with his shoelaces.

He never learned the identity of the kidnappers, who questioned him closely about his work but did not demand a ransom.

The captors later told Zaidi he would be released, throwing him on to a dark street, still blindfolded, around 3 a.m. (0000 GMT) on Monday. He was then picked up by his brother.

At least 122 journalists and 41 media support staff have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists. About 85 percent of those killed were Iraqis.

Some Iraqi journalists have been targeted by Sunni Arab militants or by Shi’ite militias. Others have been killed by U.S. forces while reporting. (Reporting by Waleed Ibrahim; Writing by Missy Ryan; Editing by Richard Balmforth)

Iraqi journalist hurls shoes at ‘dog’ Bush
Dec 14 02:36 PM US/Eastern

An Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes and an insult at George W. Bush, without hitting him, as the US president was shaking hands with the Iraqi premier at his Baghdad office on Sunday.
As the two leaders met in Nuri al-Maliki’s private office, a journalist sitting in the third row jumped up, shouting: “It is the farewell kiss, you dog,” and threw his shoes one after the other towards Bush.

Maliki made a protective gesture towards the US president, who ducked and was not hit.

The journalist, Muntazer al-Zaidi from Al-Baghdadia channel which broadcasts from Cairo, was frogmarched from the room by security staff, an AFP journalist said.

Predictable gloating in the left-wing blogo-cesspool.

Maureen Dowd must be green with envy over her Iraqi colleague who threw a shoe at President Bush. Actually the behavior of the Iraqi journalist was kid stuff compared to the way Christine Amanpour treats Israeli leaders. In her proIslamic special report called “God’s Chose Warriors”, Amanpour started screaming at Shimon Peres. Amanpour was in an uncontrolled rage and she started screaming “Your words, Your words” as she confronts Peres with some quotes from 34 years ago. Amanpour’s interview with Ehud Barak in 2000 was similar. She started reciting Arafat propaganda lines at Barak and Barak, who is an Israeli who doesn’t back down from bullies, responded by saying: “That’s B_ _ L_ _ _ T”
In comparison to Ananpour, the Iraqui journalist was peaches and cream.

Christine Amanpour should have her entry visa lifted. Let me waterboard the cow. I would go for a record-say ten minutes? If you get a chance to see Christine Amanpour on CNN-International she is even more strident in Europe.

Also, isn’t it revealing how lgm and the other liberals still have BDS because we overthrew their socialist ally Saddam Hussein? They always have sided with terrorist regimes and are still mad we overthrew one of their allies.

There is nothing funny about throwing shoes at a person. It’s immature and any adult in their right mind would not do this. It doesn’t matter what mistakes President Bush has made, he doesn’t deserve to be assaulted. No one does.

George Bush has made a lot of missteps along the way, and in fact he’s still making them, but 50 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan have a chance at true individual freedom because of his unwavering support of our troops over the last 8 years!

This has to be posed and hammered in conscious of the citizens of these nations; are they grateful for U.S. blood and treasure spilled in freeing them from tyrannical and religious zealot rule? That’s the ONLY poll or media question that would matter to me. (I’m NOT encouraged so by the lack of support bu the Iraqi-American community). If they are ungrateful, then we should pull up stakes from the Arab world and fortify Israel to the hilt and get our energy priorities in order and not place the uninterrupted sex lives of caribou above the lives of U.S. soldiers securing our oil supplies — and that was not a jest or quip. ANWAR is regarded “pristine sacred” just for that bizarre but true reason.

A related matter; I live in NYC and like have the option of choosing my energy supplier; electric, gas, or oil. If you heed windmill T. Boon and this other natural gas guy (totally replace oil with natural gas), they want to shove your only having a single energy source — no choices — down your throat.

He wanted to spread the democratic system preemptively. A lot of people have sneered at that idea lately, but while they were sneering Iraq has inched forward toward a democracy. It’s even turning into a (somewhat) decent place to live. That buffoon-like shoe chucker – his name is Muntazer al-Zaidi from Al-Baghdadia channel which broadcasts from Cairo – proved it. No matter what happens to al-Zaidi now (and it won’t be much if anything), it will be nothing like what would have happened to him if he had hurled a shoe at the president during the previous Iraqi administration of Saddam Hussein.”

What else should we expect from barbaric Muslims? Actually, the only thing I care about is that they are not able to attack us or Israel. If they are ungrateful, so be it. They are barbarians; we can’t expect more from them. Overthrowing Saddam Hussein has made us safer and Israel safer. That is the bottom line.

Also, we should carefully examine how ungrateful Muslims always are and only let in Middle Eastern Christians into our country if we don’t want to turn into their barbaric nations.

    Lgm states:

Remember their reactions when President Reagan, Pat Nixon, Richard Nixon died? That is who there are: bitter, unhappy, vulgar people. Their comedians-Bill Mahr, Robbin Willaims and such–nasty, brutal and dishonest to the core. “President Bush: the only dope worth shooting”? Ward Churchill “Little Eichmanns”? Fahrenheit 9-1-1? Death of a President?

The Left would dance with joy–if one or two of them went public there would be a tut tut or two, not much more. When William Ayres called for the death of 25 million unrepentant capitalist the Left did not disclaim him-they has a coffee in his house and made him a university professor.

Typical moonbat playbook, denounce the other side as being in a “fantasy” when questioning the safety of the President when himself actually making up stuff that he doesn’t have a prayer of proving true because deep down inside even he knows Iraq is far more free now by leaps and bounds than they ever were under that murderous dictator Saddam. Which is why he is a deranged moonbat.
