Fundraiser for Sarah Palin’s church
As I’m sure you’ve heard, a suspicious arson struck Sarah Palin’s home church in Wasilla. There were several women working on crafts to donate to needy families for the holidays. Ed has video here. Reader Pat from Team Sarah sends info about a fundraiser to help the church, which suffered upwards of $1 million in damage:
Due to arson, Sarah’s home church has suffered $1 million in damage.
I have gotten numerous emails asking for how to help and make donations, so here is how we can show the church and Gov. Palin that Team Sarah members are here to support them in their time of need.

Here’s something Obama can do with that leftover campaign cash…
No, it’s probably a white church so “The One” won’t chip in. Apparently he only supports black churches and their issues (see Rev. Wright’s credo).
Maybe Biden can let go of some change for the cause. But, alas, I gave more to charity last year than he has in ten years. This without making a tenth of what he does. I know! Tax the dog crap out of the church members to pay for it. I mean, it’s the patriotic thing to do.
I have a feeling the locals will be feeding the offenders to the local Kodiak and Polar Bears should they find them. Most folks I met in Alaska the few short times I visited it take to it about as well as we would here, but we would be feeding them to the coyotes and the wolves. At least it would make the animal huggers at PETA happy unless off course the poor critters got a bad case of indigestion.
You think this would be considered one of those “hate crimes,” but I guess it would only apply if the same type of accidental fire were to happen at an anti-American racist church.

I hope there is not too much speculation on just what happened-and by whom. Churches burn. As they are generally unoccupied and unguarded most of the time they are easy targets for vandals-generally just punks.
One one blog a poster claimed Sara Palin set the fire to get sympathy and another claimed it was a victim of her Right Wing Church. How would they know that?

Jesus never thought of diversity such as Rev. Wright and other churches or preachers that do not preach the gospel. Preaching social gospel doesn’t do any good unless the person repents of sin and is being saved. I have not heard all of Rev Wrights sermons but I doubt if he had many alter calls to salvation.
I forgot to mention that Jesus said He was the only way and at the time no one considred Him intolerant for saying that.

For what it’s worth, a church in my hometown was burned to the ground by meth heads so perhaps this is the same thing. I hope so because one of the other ways is just way too pointless to contemplate.

No, for two reasons.
1) I didn’t sober up until November 5, after the polls had closed;
2) my liberal self-hatred took the form of voting against Patrick Kennedy.

This church was insured for fire damage, was it not? I’ve not heard otherwise so I’m going to assume that the answer is “yes”.
I can understand the desire that many people feel to send the church some financial help, and why.
Sometimes it’s a good thing to jump in and provide some kind of general “help”, but sometimes it’s not. I hate to be a wet blanket, but… are the organizers of this quickly-organized fundraiser really thinking it through? Is this fundraiser really necessary, or is it just being done for show?
I’m reasonably sure that this church is going to be adequately reimbursed for the cost of rebuilding and repairs through their insurance company, and much of the donated money is going to become surplus.
I would really hope that the church is dedicated to being transparant about any donated monies that are received over and above the cost of rebuilding, and what those monies are going to be used for.
Without that information, I’m hesitant to donate.
It would be inappropriate, IMO, to rebuild the church to it’s original state using insurace monies and use the extra 1 mil from donors to UPGRADE the facility (build a new gymnasium, for instance). Raising funds to improve a facility is usually the sole responsibility of those who actually ATTEND that facility.
I for one feel that any extra funds raised beyond the cost of repairing and rebuilding through the insurance company should be used to house, feed and cloth the poor in and around Wasilla.
My two cents.
For those who will automatically suggest that I’m being either too cynical or un-Christian, save it.
I am a Christian, but I’m not naive. I’ve attended two very large churches in the past, and as part of the administrative team for those churches I’ve also been a part of the church building committees in both of them.
I’ve seen the carefully veiled glitter of greed and ambition in the eyes of far too many otherwise good Christian folk, when they have a huge unplanned surplus of funds to work with.
For many church leaders and pastors, ramming their pet “dream projects” through the approval process becomes the order of the day… the whole process goes political, and sometimes it becomes very ugly.
Doing the right thing (being content with what they already have, and using the surplus for doing good works out in the community) not so much.
I’m willing to donate, but before I do that I’d like to know what the church in Wasilla has in mind for the inevitible surplus, because there WILL be one.
That is all.

I’m sure if the topic of this post was about the dreadfully written news story you linked to, there would be more than enough outrage to sooth your white guilt ridden nerves, but the topic of this post was about something else.

thank you Michele , I heard about the fund raiser on Laura Ingraham but didnt get to write down the address. writing a check and mailing it off today.
I just donated via check and did so because the outpouring of good that will come from this heinous crime will SHUT DOWN the EVIL that leftards are!
