Anti-Christmas moron of the day: Ban Rudolph!

Rudolph Derangement Syndrome
I know. It’s too early on a Monday for Grinches. These people are so tiresome and joyless, they aren’t worth mustering up outrage over — just pity.
Pity the Rudolph-basher:
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was almost grounded at Murrayville Elementary School this week after a parent complained about the classic Christmas song’s inclusion in her daughter’s upcoming kindergarten concert.
The objecting parent was upset about the words “Christmas” and “Santa” in the song, feeling that they carried religious overtones.
That prompted the song to be pulled from the upcoming holiday concert, which in turn upset more parents.
…“They have clearly decided that any other religion or custom is not important,” the objecting parent said after learning about the reversal on “Rudolph.” She asked that her name not be published, to shield her daughter’s identity.
The mother, who is Jewish, said she was trying to have a Hanukkah song added to the musical lineup but had not received a return phone call about it from school officials by mid-afternoon Friday.
…Sean Dwyer, whose daughter is also in the kindergarten class, had complained Friday morning about Rudolph getting muzzled.
Friday afternoon he said he thought school officials had made the right call by reinstating the popular Christmas song.
“It wasn’t my point in the beginning whether it was about religion or not,” Dwyer said. “The children have been learning this for weeks, and some person was trying to push their own personal feeling and agenda for this for their own child alone, and you just don’t do that.”
But until late Friday morning, Rudolph wasn’t going anywhere.
Murrayville Principal Julie Duclos said the school decided to pull the song after the parent complained “to make sure that we were actually paying attention to everybody’s interest, that we were not choosing somebody’s interest over another.”
“If we had enough time in the PTA program to sing a song for every single interest and value system, then we could do it,” she said. “But when you can’t do that, you go to universal values that are agreed on by every faith, every denomination. We wouldn’t want to leave anybody out.”
Like Glenn Beck says, “Happy RamaHanuKwanzMas!” It’s the PC time of year:

I had a customer complain because we were playing Christmas music in the store. They were concerned what would happen if a non-Christian heard it. We have some
Jewish customers and they don’t seem to be bothered by it.
That happens again, you can tell them that *this* Christian customer would be off-put if no Christmas music were played.
These people are Grinches. Plain and simple.
By the way – a good time for a PSA:
If your local radio station(s) play(s) Christmas music, and especially religious Christmas music, call the station manager or write and give them praise for doing so in this PC-era.
Two of my local 24/7 Christmas music stations – 99.1WMYX and 95.7WRIT – both are getting my thanks.
24/7??? ACK….
Sounds like torture. Sorrybut I can take christmas only in small doses.
Where were you for the first 18 yeas of my life? That was my attitude for a while. Parents disagreed
I am thinking even this nutjob Congress would be afraid to change Christmas to Winter Soltice or such. Not that they wouldn’t like too, just afraid of the uproar. They are a people without the courage of their own convictions.
I’m personally offended by all the left wing, politically correct, whining ass, cry babies. Ok, gooberment stop them from offending me, NOW! It’s my right not have my values and principles, along with my Holidays suppressed.
Closed minded fools…be gone with you. The old parachute analogy applies once again, this is for you libs. “Your mind is like a parachute, it works best when open.”
By the way lady, here’s a life lesson for you at no charge…”Life is not fair, get use to it”
Once again, we are ruled by a “majority” of one, regardless of the “minority” of thousands. It’s a constant sad situation when 1 person can ruin everything for everyone. Funny, we are a society now, so worried about offending others, yet driving to and from work everyday, I get “offended” by a host of rude, reckless and just plain bad drivers. How hypocritical we have become.
Isn’t “democracy” when the majority rules?
rightisright, That’s a lot like me saying, “Get thee behind me, Satan”, right?
OOOPS! Forgot. The left doesn’t believe in him except when they’re talking about “The Great Satan” (USA) or “The Little Satan” (Israel)
How about conscientious objector status for we who are held hostage to paying for this claptrap?
I was raised Jewish and my folks had ZERO problem with me singing Christmas songs. When I was in high school they went so far as to let me join an Archdiocese of Chicago Teen choir.
Despite the fact that I became a Christian in 1996 and am now in the process of being reconciled to the Roman Catholic Church-my mother has no regrets.
She says that singing Christmas carols didn’t cause me to “convert”.
England is even worse (so what else is new?). The Church is changing the lyrics of some well-known hyms (ex: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen) to not appear “sexist” or “racist” or offend some religions. Also the Salvation Army now can’t “rattle their tins” for donations. Again, might cause offense. Seems a day doesn’t go by over there where something traditional isn’t banned.
Not me! I can and will sing “Hava Nagila” with as much fervor and gusto as “Unto Us A Child Is Born”
Even more so if there’s a liberal atheist or arrogant Arab around to annoy.
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is about as much a religious song as Madonna’s Like a Virgin is. People today are not as much offended, but enjoy the idea that they caused some kind of social change. I would say that Rudolph actually celebrates diversity and sends a message to children that someone who may be different from you does not make them any less important. Good gawd, it is as if the inmates are running the asylum now.
She needs to get a life…she could put up with worse people like a Nazi or misunderstood Jihadis.
I’m thinking she was one of the extras in “American Carol” during the scene when a Christian gets on a bus and her presence is treated like she is a terrifying jihadi…
Why is it so many supposed “adults” have to force their singular view on the majority of children trying to enjoy something like Christmas? They are kindergartners who likely think of this as just a fun song rather than something that might warp their little minds. Or as one poster said, a song with a lesson about how differences are treated?
Sheesh I wish some people would grow up!
How unoriginal. Real life is ripping off South Park about an overreactive Jewish mom stripping the Christianess from Christmas and turning it into a mimimalist theatre performance.
As I gazed into the sun… The rays burned my eyes. How like a turtle is the sun… (Happy happy happy. Everybody’s happy.)
People complaining about such things are just looking for some way to feel “important” in their lives. Perhaps, they want attention, or just to get their 5 minutes of fame on the news. More than likely, they are insecure people just trying to justify themselves to the community. They need counseling from a psychologist, not from a news reporter. And, the community needs to stop paying attention to such people, rather than change everything to feed into their insecurity.
Isn’t that exactly what they did? Forgive me if I am mistaken, but when ONE parent of a child who more than likely had not a damn thing to say against Rudolph being sung, decides to whine and complain that Christmas might just have religious overtones, while at the same time attempting to get a Hannukah song instilled, and demands that said song be removed, SUCCESSFULLY, did the school NOT act in such a way as to choose one person’s interest over the VAST majority?
Could somebody PLEASE tell me where it is stated in this country that if you do not like something or are offended by something or WHATEVER, that your and ONLY your views are to be honored?
When are these school and work officials going to sprout a pair and tell these whiny little Liberal troublemakers to STFU and just not attend if it bothers them so much, that Christmas is a long standing tradition in this country and as such it will be celebrated and honored.
As it is, my daughters no longer have Halloween parties, they have Harvest Festivals…on Halloween. They are not allowed to wear their costumes, as it could offend someone, but are encouraged to dress like “Country Bumpkins”. (Yes, that is the EXACT term used, because that couldn’t POSSIBLY offend someone.)
On the 19th I will be volunteering my help with a snowball race at my daughter’s Winter Celebration…for they are no longer allowed to have a “Christmas Party”. Somewhere, someone in the California School System whined that Christmas, the holiday that promotes “Peace on Earth” and “Goodwill Towards Men”, was offensive and wrong. Therefore, it is now a Pagan celebration.
And sure enough, there will be the normal amount of Liberal Democrat symbols who will claim that there is no attack on Christmas or Christianity, all the while backing up that claim with anti-Christmas/Christian rhettoric in nearly every one of their postings or conversations, but the evidence is everywhere you look.
I, for one, am fed up with it. I wish they would bring back all the decorations in ciies, towns, malls etc. I wish they would go back to spending time and energy to make things look beautiful this time of year.
Whether you believe in Jesus or not, Christmas is, by far, the most joyous, wonderful and beautiful holiday out of any and all holidays celebrated anywhere at anytime. No other has so much beauty and goodness associated with it where people actually do go out and become better people and practice “It is better to give than receive” and anyone who has issue, is offended by or bothered by this holiday has something very, fundamentally wrong and disturbing about their very being.
And I am sick of shows on television destroying the myth of Santa LONG before I am ready to do so for my children. They deserve to hold on to that myth, one of the purest out there, for as long as humanly possible, and I have gone to great lengths to protect it, for once it is gone, something leaves Christmas and never comes back. Leave that to parents…
And parents, if you have done so already, take in mind that not all kids and families have.
