Cable television introduced us to “The Real Housewives of Orange County” – an estrogen-infused reality show featuring a coven of conniving and ambitious women living pampered lives in southern California. Blago-gate has brought us something even juicier: The Real Housewives of Crook County, Illinois. The public may be wearying of indicted Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich and the Chicago boys’ club, but the conniving and ambitious women behind the scenes of the corruption scandal are a must-see political drama all their own.
Mrs. Blago, the former Patty Mell, won the hearts of old school thugs everywhere with her f-word-filled rants captured on FBI wiretaps, some of which were colorfully detailed in the criminal complaint against her hubby last week. It’s old news to folks in Chicago, but the woman who masquerades as a sweet gubernatorial spouse dedicated to children’s advocacy is a cutthroat wheeler-dealer in heels who schemed with the guv to fire pesky editorial writers and get herself named on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the president-elect’s pick to the Senate. First Lady by day, Dragon Lady by night.
Potty-mouthed Patty is the daughter of famed Chicago Democrat alderman Richard Mell. Hardball ward politics runs in her blood. “Pay to play” is the family way. As a high-powered realtor, the Chicago Tribune reported, Mrs. B. raked in more than $700,000 in commissions on business deals after Hot Rod began raising money in 2000 for his first gubernatorial campaign. The feds have been investigating for years.
Close political observers are waiting for the other shoe to drop on Mrs. B. – or be used as leverage to force her hubby to whom she has been fiercly loyal (to the point of alienating daddy) to ‘fess up.
Corrupto-convict and Barack Obama fundraiser Tony Rezko was one of Mrs. B’s biggest clients for the last decade. Behind Mr. Rezko stood his housewife in hot water, Rita, who wiled away some of her time as a patronage appointee to an obscure Cook County government board before getting entangled in the land swap couples’ deal between her husband and the Obamas – the one that President-elect called “boneheaded.” On Tuesday, Rezko’s sentencing was postponed, suggesting that he’ll be singing even more to the feds.
Michelle Obama was apparently friendly with the sordid sorority, according to Chicago Magazine. Writer James Merriner reported on a fashion show/political back-scratching gala chaired by Mrs. Rezko and co-chaired by Mrs. Blago two days before the November 2006 elections:
“Michelle Obama, wife of the Democratic U.S. senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama, was a special guest that day (even though the news had just broken about Rezko’s participation in a funky real-estate transaction involving the Obamas’ Hyde Park home). The fashion show attracted little if any media coverage, which may have been exactly as its organizers and sponsors had hoped. Just three weeks earlier, Tony Rezko had been indicted on charges of extorting kickbacks from businesses seeking contracts from the Blagojevich administration.”
Then there’s Anita Mahajan, wife of Chicago Mutual Bank owner Amrish Mahajan. Hubby is an Obama supporter and Blago fundraiser who handled that boneheaded Obama land deal and who loaned cash to Rezko. Mrs. Mahajan hired Mrs. Blago to sell properties for her. In 2007, Mrs. Mahajan was indicted on fraud charges related to a contract from the state Department of Children and Family Services – awarded to her by the Blagojevich administration. Prosecutors say she bilked taxpayers out of $2.1 million. For the children, of course.
Democrat women have long played the feminist card in arguing that their chromosomes make them cleaner candidates. The real housewives of Crook County definitively disprove the theory.
Behind every crooked Chicago pol, there’s an even sharper-clawed wife. It’s in their political DNA. Don’t let the lipstick and perfume bleeping fool you.

Tony Rezko- a name that comes up…time and time again. And the MSM has given Obama a COMPLETE PASS on their relationship.
Coincidence? I think not.
I don’t like the “pay to play” euphemism. It goes beyond donations to campaign funds. It goes to patronage “jobs” for precinct captains for meeting voting quotas. It goes to “up front fees” to become policemen or firement. It goes to extortion and criminal activity that is systematic in Chicago.

On this, but slightly off topic, why was it again that Fitzgerald found it necessary to preempt the pay-to-play scandal before the actual deal was completed?
I mean it wasn’t as if they were saving a person’s life, before an attempted mafia hit/murder.
Could it be that they wanted to shield the newly elected president from actually going through with the payment for the senate seat for Blago?
Rahmmy was working the phones for Obama. He can’t say that after 21 times, Rahm didn’t talk to his boss about the conversations. Somehow the SEIU got involved… who made that connection?
Personally, I think we should not only investigate the players in this scheme, but the prosecutor’s motivations for stopping it short before all the parties completed the deal.

Here’s the thing that sends me over the edge. Obingo has already made his innocence known to the adoring masses. That third photo-Anita Mahajan- does look like a mug shot–was she getting prepared? Chicago, Crook County and IllNoise do seem to have their problems but the people keep electing the crooks so they must be happy.

If there was ever a time to set aside what we want politically and insist on integrity from all of our elected officials, this is it.
I am a Conservative to the right of Attila the Hun. However, I would take an honest Paul Wellstone over a dirty Ted Stevens or someone with the integrity of Sarah Palin over Obama any day.
I’ll take principle over dogma at this point. We all have to stop covering for people who are dirty, but share our politics. If they are dirty, there are no mitrigating reasons to tolerate them. Also past misconduct is no excuse to tolerate present misconduct. That’s the kind of mentality you hear from grade schoolers (or Alan Combes).
We the People need to see the rules are changed. Rule #1 should be those in an office of public trust without integrity should be ruthlessly purged or never confirmed.
Here’s your answer. Looks like we can thank the MSM for coming to Obama’s rescue again.

Mr.P on comment 2 has it partly correct. There are plenty of jobs in the City of Chicago that require the precinct captain and ward committeemen’s aid. The Dept of Streets and Sanitation is one. The police and fire department are not. Both the police and fire departments are watched closely by the Feds due to racial issues and consent agreements. I have been a Chicago Firefighter for 28 years and while there are politically connected firemen and cops that is not the norm. The politics is more involved in the promotion process through “Merit Promotion” lists and special exempt rank positions.When I got on the job I wasnt even a registered voter. I am one of the few republicans in my ward and my neighbors consider me an amusing wack job. I made Lieutenant the old fashioned way. I studied my butt off and passed the test. The CFD at the field level is probably the most professional department in the city.
How is it that Andrew Sullivan can post one blog after another with hysterical accusations about Sarah Palin and her son Trig, but not a peep about these lowlifes that are mere inches from Obama on so many levels. I got my answer to that question almost 30 years ago.
A reporter asked famed “Progressive” lawyer William Kunstler, defender of the Chicago 7, on why had not spoken out about the wholesale slaughter of Cambodians by the Khnmer Rouge regime. Ultimately, the world learned 1.8 million Cambodians, 255 of their population were butchered.
Kunstler’s comment has haunted me since that day. He looked at the reporter and said, “I make it a point to never criticize a socialist country.” If you think that Obama, the people surrounding him, and people like Andrew Sullivan are anywhere on the same moral plain that you are, think again. They are not.

Michelle Obama and William A. Osborn are both on the Board of Directors of The Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Don’t you think their relationship could have something to do with the Obama home purchase, as the Obama mortgage is above Fannie/Freddie limits and was done by Northern Trust Corporation?
I’d highly recommend that investigators look into the connections between members of that council.

Chicago women are an interesting lot. They were either stepford wives or behaved like petty, middle school girls. I only found a few natives who were normal.

I doubt that the Obama’s mortgage was sold to Fannie or Freddie. Due to its amount it was either done “non-agency” (sold to other investors than Fannie/Freddie) or most likely kept in house.
The more interesting issue is that when Rezko sold the sliver of land to Obama, he made his lot unbuildable. In theory, the only thing he could do with the remaining land is sell it to Obama. Watch the Feds buy the remaining portion for a Secret Service shelter.

At the moment I am watching Blagos attorney, who is sitting in front of the impeachment committee doing his thug thizzle. (I think he has the early signs of Parkinson’s – watch him, he can barely sit still)
But now I know what what Obama meant a few months ago when he said people were telling him to “Get in their face”.
It sounds like the basis of their defense is going to be an aggressive offense. Someone needs to put all these hoods in their place – them to back the F off and show some respect or someones gonna be looking down the barrel of a RICO indictment.

I was born and raised in Cook County….lived there under Daley Sr’s reign. I left in the 80’s and I am not surprised by any of this and I am surprised that this is seen as a surprise to anyone.
