If it’s December, it’s time for the Left to throw another shameless pity party for convicted American jihadist John Walker Lindh (aka Suleyman al-Faris, aka Abdul Hamid). Every Christmas season for the last four years, the Taliban accomplice and his parents have asked President Bush to pardon him. This country should save its tears and mercy for the defenders of freedom.
The further we have moved from the September 11 attacks, the cloudier our collective memory of Lindh’s case has become. Sympathetic journalists have rewritten the history, embracing him as a naive young hippie-dippie from Marin County, Calif.,who just caught in the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
Others, like Esquire magazine writer Tom Junod, have proclaimed him “innocent” and lamented Lindh’s life behind bars in a federal medium-security facility. Junod criticized the government for forbidding him to speak Arabic. (Human rights atrocity!) Meanwhile, he enjoys the privilege of cooking his meals for himself and fellow inmates, working in the library, and praying to Mecca. Junod insisted that Lindh deserves more “credit for his sense of purpose or his vast reserves of will” and more “credit for what it took to get to Afghanistan, much less what it took for him to get back to America.”
In Afghanistan, I remind you, Jihad Johnny took up arms with the terrorists. His purpose was to kill Americans and his “reserve of will” accomplished the goal. He told the feds he trained with al Qaeda before the September 11 attacks and he fought alongside them after Osama bin Laden’s henchmen murdered 3,000 of Lindh’s fellow citizens on American soil. He wrote a letter to his mother expressing support for the U.S.S. Cole bombing that took 17 sailors’ lives and, despite an emphatic denial by Lindh’s father that Jihad Johnny took up arms against his country, he recounted how his rifle malfunctioned on the front lines in Takar.
Finally, on Nov. 25, 2001, upon being captured and taken to the Qala I Jangi fortress outside Mazar E Shiref for interrogation, Suleyman al-Faris/Abdul Hamid/John Walker Lindh sat silent — and deliberately and defiantly chose not to tell American CIA officer and former Marine Corps artillery specialist Mike Spann about a planned Taliban prison revolt. Spann was killed in the riot.
Asked by journalist Robert Pelton at the prison if “this the right cause or the right place,” Lindh replied unequivocally: “It is exactly what I thought it would be.”
Who deserves the “credit” for “sense of purpose” and “reserve of will?” The saboteur of American freedom or the guardian?
Mike Spann’s family visited the fortress after his murder. They talked to Afghan doctors who will never forget his bravery. “They said they thought Mike might run and retreat, but he held his position and fought using his AK rifle until out of ammo, and then draw and begin firing his pistol,” Spann’s father said. “While watching Mike fight they were able to jump up and run to safety.
“They said the only reason that they, and several others, were able to live was because Mike stood his position and fought off the prisoners while enabling them the time to run to safety. The doctors stated that as they fled toward a safe haven they saw Mike run out of ammo and then witnessed him fighting hand to hand until he was overcome by the numerous Al Qada and Taliban prisoners.”
American hero Mike Spann will not get to cook dinner for widow Shannon and three young children. Mike Spann cannot curl up with a good book or go to church with his family. Pray for Mike Spann, show his family the compassion and gratitude they deserve — and may American traitor John Walker Lindh rot in hell.

This terrorist should never be released from custody. Mike Spann is a true hero. Like you said, the farther we get away from September 11, the more people will forget about the thousands who died in this country and the ones who died defending it.

We should be hearing more about a pardon for Ramos and Campean. To me their incarceration will always be the legacy of Bush, who has shown so much contempt for American citizens.

Mere words cannot express what is in the heart of every American who love their country and the ideals that Mike lived. To Mike and his family a grateful thanks for his service and devotion to country. No greater love have they than those who gives their life for their fellow man.

Jihad Johnny should have been hanged years ago! What is he doing still breathing? I wonder if Michelle was intentionally “ironic” in her title, “No Mercy for Jihad Johnny?”
Jihad Johnny has received boundless mercy from the government and people of the United States. He sits in a warm cell with a bed and indoor plumbing. He gets 3 squares a day. He can read and pray and think about his future. That seems pretty merciful compared to how the Taliban he chose to fight with treat those subject to their “tender mercies.”
I suspect Michelle was being intentionally ironic.
Mike Spann is ours. Jihad Johnny is theirs. What is impossible is that we elected a President with more in common with Lindh than with Spann, and probably would sympathize more with a Lefty, Jihadi family from Marin County than with a decent heroic man of our armed services. How long will it take Obama to pardon Lindh?
If that was my son, I would get down on my knees every night and pray for forgiveness for my failure as a parent. Yes, some kids go bad despite being raised well. But this “kid” was not raised well. We know how his parents raised him…it is documented. They failed him, pure and simple. And the sad thing is, they think they did a good job as parents.
Frankly, we would dramatically improve America if we could just return large chunks of California back to Mexico.
A good place to start would be Marin County and the Lindh residence in particular.

I and many of my friends have been spending the last few years of our lives fighting these sons of… people. In response to any attempt to offer leniency to this boy:
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

So, really, the only question that folks should ask is whether to use a rope or firing squad.

The traitor should stay in prison. From what I’ve read it doesn’t sound like he even regrets what he did. Why should he be pardoned?
Fred Grandy was “Gopher” and he did serve in Congress. He is a Republican and he seems to be one of those Republicans who is a RINO but doesn’t want to admit it.
It is Republicans like Grandy that made my decision to switch from the GOP to the Constitution Party much, much easier.

It shows amazing restraint on the part of our soldiers that this piece of crap was not destroyed on the battlefield. It would have been so easy for him to be killed on the field of battle and would have saved us all the expense of keeping him in prison. Our soldiers are taking prisoners because they have been ordered to do so. Those orders need to be changed to “take no prisoners”.

Seems it would be the least the Lindhs could & should do, if they are genuine in their remorse.

Exactly. I know a parent’s love is supposed to know no bounds, but there must be a limit. I would not expect my parents to defend me if I had done such a thing to my country or to Mike Spann (God bless him & his family). Nor do I believe they would. Some things are simply beyond the pale, whether libs want us to believe that or not.
In reality, he chose to renounce his American family when he chose to renounce his country and fight with our enemy.

I wrote this as a fitting punishment of Osama, but I would like to see it applied to Johnny now.
1) Strip him and shave every inch of his body.
2) Bind him in a sitting position.
3) Place him in the bottom of a 55-gallon metal drum.
4) Place into the drum with him 6 baby pigs to keep him company.
5) Create a mixture consisting of pig blood, pig urine, pig feces, and liquified pigs organs.
6) Pour that mixture into the drum at the rate of one ounce every 15 minutes.
7) When the drum begins to overflow, seal it, encase it in concrete, and drop it into the deepest part of the ocean.
As an added bonus in this case, I would also force his parent to watch the entire thing as it happen.
And that’s too bloody good for him.
Given the sympathies of the media for squashed dung such as JWL, and their lack of sympathy for families like the Spanns, it is times like these I wish the families would speak out on video and post it on Youtube.
Muddle-headed liberals are so quick to embrace scum like JWL because they are so quick to ignore their victims. A video telling how the victims are affected might be a little more difficult for them to ignore.

Lindh should only be released when his restitution is fully paid. In this case, when he can return Mike Spann to his family and to his Country alive. Then and only then should Lindh be pardoned — which is a roundabout way of saying he should rot.
