HERE IS THE QUESTION: If Rahm was talking with Blago about the open senate seat and Blago was looking for some kind of pay off, why didn't Rahm report it to the authorities? Why didn't Obama report it? Why didn't anyone on the Obama team report it? Why did it take a wire tap by the Feds?

Barack Obama has said that when all is revealed, it will be clear that neither he nor his staff had any contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich that could be considered improper.

They have had plenty of time to get their version of the facts together by now.

The BO camp will be as clean as the new fallen snow. (Oops, I didn't mean that to be racist.) That Al Gore has been silent on this season so far.

trk45lt I guess I am not very believing in the fact of "what goes around, comes around" when it comes to Chicago politics! We know there is corruption and we know that some are "more" guilty than others, but whether Fitzgerald can make it stick to the right people without losing his job, remains to be seen. I would love to see someone else govern our State, but seems like when we think we might actually get someone in there that is honest, or at least not corrupt, the opposite happens here. That corner you are talking about being painted into, for some reason always seems to have a window "loophole" to climb out for certain people....I sure hope you are right about this and I am wrong.

bluekitty...I dont think Blago will get off. I think his arrest was just the tip of the iceberg and Im waiting for more charges to come his way. He has been under investigation for years. I do agree with you on Minnesota and what has happened to the GOP. Some dem alderman from our dark history once said,"politics aint beanbag". This is what we get for playing nice. We have to go back to what we believe in and stop pretending the "compassionate conservative" is anything but a surrender to the liberal mindset that got us into this mess in the first place. As for the gun issue, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. I also think Obama has had his hands tied by Blago when it comes to Fitzgerald. He doesnt want to be seen as covering up Ilinois corruption. Remember he is a reformer.NOT. He has painted himself into a corner on this.

trk45ltI bet you DO have to be careful, but still it is well worth it to have your own protection. I am not as sure as you are about Fitzgerald, I have a feeling that he is being pulled in a little at a time and will not be able to do what he has to do. Remember, he will be working for Obama and can be let go anytime and replaced when the new President takes over "power". I imagine he will not want to tick his new boss off, hmmmm? At any rate, with the fight Blago is going to put up, don't you think he will probably get off? I see the Dems always crying "foul" with things as in the Minnesota election,,,that will play out until Franken gets enough votes to "win" and the Reps. will not contest it...what have we become? Sometimes you have to play the game as it is being played, no one says it is "fairplay" as it should be...

Bluekitty222... I am inside the Chicago City Limits so I have to be very careful w/firearms and of course the gun issue doesnt work out. It doesnt matter to Daley one bit. Daley has had the benefit of a full bodygaurd detail since he took his first breath. I suggest he drop his bodygaurds then see how gun control works. Anyway I am standing by hoping to see Fitzgerald continue to work his way through these idiots. It will happen and I am hopeful.

trk45lt </strong I understand your frustration! I am in Macon County and that is pretty much Democratic, but we keep trying. I do think that Blago thinks he is above the law and as long as Chicago controls the purse strings for the state, all we can do is get out and vote. Are you in the "no gun" area too? If so, has IT worked out? I can answer that NOOOO! Pretty much all you can do is CYA at this time and hopefully Blago will get what is coming to him. We are in a sorry state with this election having turned out as it has.

The former IL gov set the example for dear Blago. George Ryan was being investigated for using the DMV to get campaign contributions by selling drivers licences. He managed to get elected twice and finish his second term before getting convicted. Blago thinks he can do Ryan one better by not getting convicted.
In IL the only crime is getting caught, not comitting the crime in the first place.

If voters decided to get rid of the Chicago mess, somehow, some way, after 10-15 "recounts", they will still remain in office, with 110% of registered voters voting. The apathetic people of Chicago will respond, "Oh, okay" and go back to their i-pods.
