“Homeland Security USA”

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 23, 2008 12:09 PM

Hmmm: ABC turns homeland security into boob-tube entertainment. (Hat tip: ALIPAC) In some ways, you can’t top the true-life farce that lax immigration enforcement has been under the Bush administration. It will be interesting to see how much of the open-borders agenda creeps into this experiment:

Every day the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security patrol more than 100,000 miles of America’s borders. This territory includes airports, seaports, land borders, international mail centers, the open seas, mountains, deserts and even cyberspace. Now viewers will get an unprecedented look at the work of these men and women while they use the newest technology to safeguard our country and enforce our laws, in “Homeland Security USA,” which debuts with the episode “This is Your Car on Drugs,” TUESDAY, JANUARY 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

Comprised of 13 hour-long episodes shot entirely on location throughout the United States, “Homeland Security USA” is based on a popular Australian series now in its fifth season. Produced by Oscar and Emmy-winner Arnold Shapiro (“Scared Straight,” “Big Brother”), the series takes cameras into situations never before seen on television, with each episode covering eight or more locations on the “front lines” where the officers and agents work each day. They have a job that is dangerous, difficult and always unpredictable. These aren’t heroes. They’re average men and women working against an epic landscape. The Department’s missions include everything from vetting adoption papers and checking visitors’ passports to intercepting undocumented immigrants, drugs and other contraband, and stopping potential terrorists trying to cross our borders. What viewers will see is powerful, dramatic, unforgettable and emotional, with unexpected moments of humor.

“They’re ordinary men and women working against an epic landscape,” said Shapiro. “They have a job that is dangerous, difficult and always unpredictable. What viewers will see is powerful, dramatic, amazing and emotional, with unexpected moments of humor.”

“Homeland Security USA” has been given unprecedented access to the agencies of the Department of Homeland Security and has the full cooperation of CBP (Customs & Border Protection) including CBP’s Border Patrol; ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement); TSA (Transportation Security Administration); USCG (United States Coast Guard) and USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Services).

Couldn’t this program actually jeopardize national security?

Why broadcast details of how we defend this country?

    Chooo got it.

Now boarder security is patriotic and legitimate to defend. They show the drug runs, guns and bad guys.

Before we were seeing how HORRIBLE those bad Minute Men were for making it difficult for people to cross over our boarder.

    Ugh.

I want to see the episode where ICE tells a city police department to let a couple of illegals go because they don’t have time to process them.

And the episode where some judge tells an illegal to report back in 30 days to be deported. And then see them explain to the camera in the follow-up episode when the guy doesn’t show up as promised.

What about the episode where the Border Patrol intercepts a drug smuggler during the first 10 minutes of the show; then the next 50 minutes show the agents tried, convicted and sentenced for doing their job?

It comes from the media being to busy writing fluff to check facts. That is why they include so many other things like open seas to throw us off. They do it so often, I almost don’t notice anymore, probably their intent.

Are they going to show the mexican army crossing the border in humvees with mounted machine guns to draw BP attention so the drug smugglers can have easy passage half a mile away??

Are they going to show the mexican miliary firing across the border at BP agents?

Are they going to show how the mexicans bombard agents daily with rocks along the fence?

Are they going to show illegal drug mules starting forest fires to divert the BP from pursuing them?

Are they going to show rival drug gangs shooting at each other along I-10 between the border and Phoenix?

Are they going to show layup areas and the piles of trash left by illegals just looking for a better life? (notice how they are not here to do the jobs that Americans won’t do anymore??)

Forget ABC. Rent or buy “Drug Wars: Silver or Lead” by Gary Rusty Fleming http://www.drugwarsthemovie.com or “Border: the Divide between the American Dream and the American Nightmare” by Chris Burgard

Show how the DHS works (?) is no threat to our “security”. The bad guys already know everything they need to know and how to get around the security–if there is any!!

I can’t wait until the ABC film crew really gets into the drug war going on along our southern border by being kidnapped by some of a drug lords troops working our side of the border. Then maybe some one in the rouge MSM will buy a clue at how dangerous our open borders really are. Meanwhile the rest of us that have large populations of illegal immigrants can continue to live the daily terror of ending up a victim to MS13 thugs, drunken drivers, rapist, and other criminals willing to do the crimes most American’s aren’t willing to do.

Keep dreaming guys. It will show ICE and the BP in perfect PC form. They will be “compassssssssssionaaate” to all those “poor people just coming to do the work Americans will not do”, that is when they actually show an illegal alien. Mostly it will show them checking passports at the airport with some silly incident over food contraband. Occasionally, a drug bust at sea, etc. And when the BP is doing surveillance on an illegal crossing, you can bet we will hear the BP guard saying, while looking through binocculars, how good of a people the illegals are, how they are just trying to feed their families, how his/her own family came here illegally many years ago and now he/she is trying to give something back to this great country by joining the BP (gotta get the son of illegal becomes patriot in there), and in the end will do a plug on “reforming the system since it is not working now” (aka comprehensive immigration reform). Mark my words, this will be one big propoganda piece about how the current system is unfair and the need to build support for “comprehensive immigration reform” by ABC. All the truly scary points about this scourge wil be left on the cutting room floor.

b-cat and all of you others out there who seem to blame the Officers, let me explain something – I am one of them and I’ve been doing this for just at 17 years. When it was INS, you hated us because we either weren’t doing a good enough job or we hassled your (insert relation here).

In my time, I am personally responsible for intercepting, preventing the entry of or deporting more than 1200 illegal aliens from the USA. Most of my career was at a medium sized airport so the average BP agent will have much higher numbers than that.

In doing this, I was paid at a level three grades lower than any other Federal law enforcement officer so I worked overtime constantly in order to make a comparable wage. I had colleagues get in gunfights and then were told by Clinton Administration officials that they were “on their own”. I had to process legal immigrants with lice, deal with Haitian refugees with rotten stumps for teeth and wade through bilge water to apprehend Chinese hiding in the hull of a ship. I’ve been shot at numerous times, stabbed once and cut twice. I’ve been called many things you can’t print but the ones you can include (but aren’t limited to): murderer, headhunter, monster etc..

My wife, God bless her has had to deal with me working shifts over 36 hours long and being away for weeks at a time. I refuse to allow drama shows on television at my house because I have to live in it all day so I don’t want to watch it at home.

When you can hold the fate of another person in your hands and have their mother look up at you pitifully, then coldly say, “nope, you aren’t getting in” then you can do my job. It’s easy to postulate about it, when you are actually there, it’s a different story.

Most people would like their kids to be proud of what their parents do for a living. Mine never will be – if they are they won’t be able to say it in public.

This isn’t about the Officer’s performance. We are scandalized when we do our job correctly. This is about lawmakers and the application of those laws. I am a Republican but Regan and both Bush’s made a mockery of my work with real and attempted amnesties. Clinton put forward immigration reform that worked but hid in it an agenda to solicit asylum claims from everyone we refuse (we are the only country on Earth that does this, BTW).

Hate me or don’t, do not EVER blame me or my colleagues for this country’s immigration problem. Blame yourself first – you voted for the politician who made the laws.

Personally, I think any of you who blame those of us who do this work can do something physically impossible to yourselves.

To the rest of you, I wish a Merry Christmas.

And thank you feebiebabe. We HORRIBLE Minute Men got along fine with the Border Patrol. Had a couple of brawls with some open border types. All in all a good weeks those were. :-) . More coming soon.

    Support for Movie: Border

We did not issue an e-mail alert on this, but over the past week the illegal alien supporters launched a new attack of free speech by lobbying Blockbuster Video asking them not to carry the film Border, by Chris Burgard on their shelves. Our online ALIPACers responded quickly with a letter writing campaign and we succeeded. Blockbuster is now offering the movie via their online rentals. Blockbuster says that if the movie gains interest online they will add it to the shelves in their stores.

Please take a few moments to write Blockbuster and tell them you want the movie on the shelves. You can also help by following the links to rent the movie and post favorable reviews.

To take action now to contact Blockbuster or rent the movie through Blockbuster, visit this link…
    http://www.alipac.us/ftopicp-820216.html#820216

As many of you know, ALIPAC has worked hard to promote this film and we note that censorship is alive and well in America since this movie should be in every theater but it is being blocked by Hollywood politics.

We will send you more information soon about Harrison Ford’s new movie Crossing Over, which will be in every theater in America in February 2009, where he plays an immigration officer that, is confronted by ‘humanity issues’ for deporting illegal aliens. Early reviews already tell us that Ford’s new movie is a complete pro-Amnesty propaganda piece that is devoid of any of the suffering Americans experience due to illegal immigration.

Let’s all continue to push hard to help Border, which is a realistic documentary film, reach more American viewers despite efforts to silence the truth.

    Remember Ramos and Compean

It is disgusting that your own “bosses”-current and previous administrations- tie your hands and prevent you from doing your jobs on the one hand then comment on why more isn’t done on the other. It’s all about politics!!

If DHS would allow you to do what you know needs to be done there would NOT be a need for a fence and there wouldn’t be ILLEGAL aliens. How many times have the higher ups seriously bothered to ask you how to solve “the problem”?? I’ll bet your suggestions could be put in place in days and this sham–invasion would cease.

God bless you and your family. My personal deepest thanks for your service to your country.

God bless you, Conservative in Europe. Job well done!

Being retired Coast Guard, I fear about the effects of this program. It will probably only show the “high action” scenes and not include the boring aspects of the job. Being vigilant does not always translate to action.

In addition, there is no way the public will ever get to understand the incredible job that patriots like Conservative in Europe do. The program will just scrape the iceberg of all the details.

Being network sponsored, I am sure this series will end up being a political tool. And with the Disney network broadcasting it, the program will probably become another “Extreme Makeover” show.
