You have to love Google. I pulled up a cached copy of the article by searching for the headline: Suffering Ohio begs for federal lifeline.

It was the first listing on Google. Looks like MSNBC is whitewashing their site, or is blackwashing now?

The irony is that Rahm was the principal facilitator of NAFTA for BJ and Obama lied about getting rid of NAFTA to get the Ohio vote.

And yes it does appear that the most liberal provinces are first in line - waiting for Mass to jump in.

Once again, governments at all levels think that the people exist to service them. Until they get an "attitude adjustment" from the people, this behavior will continue. Memo to bureaucrats: Get a clue - money really does not grow on trees. Neither does it bubble up from the ground for you to divvy up and spread around to satisfy the needs of the masses. And no, greedy business people are not hoarding it. It actually has to be earned. Got that?

Hmmm, I think I am beginning to see a pattern. The top 4 liberal populace states (unsure of Ohio, but I assume very liberla too) need a bailout. And the top 2 are heavy illegal immigrant destination states. How about you stop providing entitlements to every able bodied person (and to all illegals), stop funding every liberal program, and reduce your overall spending? What a concept. That is the way every individual and business must handle tough times. But they would rather the rest of us pay fo rtheir ridiculous unaffordable giveaway programs. Take a long walk off a short pier guys.

[...] Does anyone notice a trend here? Michigan, California, New York, and now Ohio? As Hussein Obama “administration” rapidly apporaches, blue states are continuing to get in line for welfare, errr bailouts. As the economy sputters and tax revenue plummets, governors and mayors across the blue states of United States are lining up to ask President-elect Barack Obama and the new Congress for hundreds of billions of dollars to plug holes in their budgets, arguing that services will suffer and joblessness will rise if Washington does not come to the rescue. What do the four aforementioned states have in common? Thats right! Obama Hussein won those states! Maybe Helen Jones-Kelley can help. [...]

At first glance I thought Ted in the title was referring to Kennedy. That bit of humor unfortunately avoided, what the hell is a state doing asking for bailouts?

Oh, wait.

In the 2007 budget year, Medicaid costs devoured 24.2 percent of the state's general fund, or $4.3 billion. Four years earlier, the figures were 20.5 percent and $3.7 billion.

*snip*

First, he is angling for a $250 billion increase in federal payments for food stamps and Medicaid, the government health program for impoverished Americans and, increasingly, the working poor. Second, he favors a $250 billion national investment in infrastructure projects. Ohio has a list of "shovel-ready" projects, including roads, water and sewer improvements and "green economy" investments.

Third, in search of a palatable pitch to a Congress and nation numbed by the parade of rescue packages, Strickland is teaming with a handful of other Democratic governors to seek a $250 billion infusion for education. The group includes Jennifer M. Granholm (Mich.), Jon S. Corzine (N.J.), David A. Paterson (N.Y.), Jim Doyle (Wis.) and Deval L. Patrick (Mass.).

But earlier:

"We're not crying wolf. This is real," Strickland said in an interview in his statehouse office, pointing to charts that project the most serious erosion of state income in 40 years and a two-year budget deficit of $7.3 billion. Revenue shortfalls in the upcoming two-year budget could amount to about 25 percent of the state's discretionary spending.

Drunken sailor much, Strickland?
