Team Obama: Still grubbing

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 30, 2008 05:29 PM

The latest mass e-mail from the Obama perpetual fund-raising machine. It doesn’t end.

Your ticket to history

michelle –

Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States of America on January 20th, 2009.

It will be an unprecedented event in the history of our country, and hundreds of thousands of people will come together in Washington, D.C. to share the moment.

Supporters like you made this happen. You know that real change comes from the bottom up, not from the top down, and Barack and Joe want you to join them on this historic day. They want to start off this administration with the people who worked so hard and will continue to fight for change with them.

Between now and January 8th, 10 supporters and their guests will be selected to join the Inaugural activities.

If you make a donation — in any amount — to make the Inauguration a success, you and a guest could be flown to Washington, D.C., put up in a hotel, and be there as Barack is sworn in as the 44th President.

Make a donation of $5 or more right now. You and a guest could receive your ticket to history.

Unlike past inaugurations, this year’s event will not be paid for by Washington lobbyists or corporations.

This campaign was funded by 4 million ordinary people giving only what they could afford, and Barack and Joe are counting on you again. Help start this administration off right — independent of the special interest donors who have shaped Washington for too long.

This Inauguration will be open to as many Americans as possible. We’ll all come together to celebrate the hope and optimism that define this movement for change.

But you could be one of 10 selected to join us in Washington for all Inaugural events. Any donation you make between now and January 8th counts — whatever you can afford.

Show your support for a different kind of politics and a different kind of inauguration with a donation of $5 or more today:

https://donate.pic2009.org/tickettohistory

The Inauguration will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. I hope you can join us.

Thank you,

David

David Plouffe
Campaign Manager
Obama for America

P.S. — If you cannot make a donation, you and a guest could still be selected to receive your ticket to history. Learn more here.

Please…saggy pecs (or should I say droopy) and dainty forearms do not a president make; Obama is a poser, and a poor one at that!

You’re right. Winning an election does. Obama did that handily.

So what? Getting there is only half the battle. The day when that old “one president at a time” malarkey no longer suffices is almost here. It’s time for Obama to act.

Need for clarity here. Taxpayers will foot the bill for the official activities, that is, the security, crowd control, platform and bleachers in front of the Capitol, rental port-a-potties, Mall cleanup, etc. Donors, including lobbyists and their clients, organizations such as the Illinois State Society or whatever they call it and individuals will pay for the inaugural balls. Your $5 donation would buy several hundred cocktail napkins. BO’s folks are trolling for money, business as usual. If you think they are going to turn down trade association or lobbyist money, I have a 14th Street Bridge I’d like to sell you.

That’s the point: political couples who are able to generate that kinda income seldom pay for anything themselves, witness the Clintons.

Wait. The original point was that there was no way the Obama’s could afford to rent a vacation villa like that on his salary. And you think “the point” was that they are so rich that they would never pay for something like that?

Uh, I’m in the “Obamas are outta touch, rich elitists” column, so that they couldn’t afford the rental was not my position; however, I do believe rich people in politics, especially Democrats, receive “comps” left and right and are seldom called on it. It looks bad and is very suspect.

Obama won the election. By a lot. You don’t have to like it but you do have to acknowledge it.

So, chapoutier, I have to acknowledge the BO. Unlike the liberal socialist scum that claim about GWBush, “He isn’t my president!”

Interesting. When the Republicans win, the ignorant liberals act like little children holding their breath for 4 years.

But when a democrat (socialist) wins, the liberals demand that the Republicans acknowledge it, because that’s “bipartisanship.”

I’ve always said that liberals are nothing more than children that have never grown up and moved out of their parent’s house. They want mommy government to take care of them and throw a tantrum when they don’t get their way.

Liberals need to grow up, move out, and face reality.

Fine. The BO will be president. Unlike the liberals that think if Bush loses or the Republicans lose, it’s good for the liberals. They don’t get it that if the president loses, we all lose. Injuring the president like the NYT does in it’s seditious “reporting”, doesn’t cause the liberals to win. It causes us, the U.S., to lose.

I don’t support the BO’s socialist policies but I wouldn’t do anything to harm the presidency. I want this country to still be here so it can be salvaged by my children from BO’s corrupt socialism.

Fair enough. But even assuming what you say is true, which is so far just pure conjecture on your part, recall that rich people of any ilk, Republican or Democrat, in politics or out, receive these sort of favors from similarly situated friends all the time.
