Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States of America on January 20th, 2009.

Sorry but since I just made a $5.4 trillion contribution to the US government lunacy called the “mother of all bailouts” I am a bit tapped out right now.
How about just holding a really big “dutch-treat” event at “Ben’s Chili Bowl?” I hear it is a great place to party.
Maybe the Obama campaign (yes, he’s still campaigning!) can raise big bucks with 1950s-style “kissing booths” where love-struck women (and men) can line up for a smooch with His Studliness.
And half of those ordinary people are not even American. Meet the first President of the World.

You brought up something I’ve been wondering about… The set of “Obama Coins” are nothing more than actual currency being imprinted with images of Obama. The coins are a Washington Dollar, a Kennedy Half Dollar, an Illinois Quarter and a Hawaii Quarter.
The last time I checked, there is a law against defacing U.S. currency. US Code Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 17, Section 331 spells it out rather clearly.
Am I missing something or does it all go back to the fact that Obama is “The One”?
I have a sneaking suspicion we will all be sending money to Obambi’s administration soon. Won’t necessarily be donations.
Anyone who believes a person making a $5 donation is going to get anywhere near being one of the 10 people (plus guests, no less) selected to attend the gala event, I’ve got a bridge for sale.
Elitists don’t “kick it” with people who make $5 donations.
Better think about adding a few zeros after the 5. My guess is the chance of winning will increase significantly for those who add 6 or more.
The only thing missing is this:

This sounds like an illegal lottery. Every promotional giveaway has to comply with state regulations, and you CANNOT make a eligibility conditional on a purchase or donation.

You grumble and moan about taxes. You say help for the poor should be voluntary, not compulsory.
Yet here, the guy is asking for voluntary contributions to fund a public event, and you find a reason to complain about that too. Would you rather people not celebrate Obama’s inauguration? Would you rather there not be police and extra sanitary facilities to accommodate the crowds? Would you prefer that they be paid for by tax money? Would you prefer that they be paid for by a few very large contributions from special interests?
Of course it’s true. Hamas and Hezbollah are neither lobbyists nor corporations.

Look at the last sentence of the email. You don’t have to donate anything to be eligible. This no problem with the law.

Actually, I see this as a fine way for the common citizen to take more interest in the inauguration. It is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event. Even if Obama is re-elected, the first time is most significant.

There is something unsettling about this. I cannot explain it but there is something very wrong with this.
Is it possible he could continue this throughout his term?
The old saying, “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” is now blatantly proven to be true. It’s like the Clampett’s moving to Beverly Hills.
Natural-born citizens are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.
Obama may or may not have been born in Hawaii, which would make him a “native” born citizen (born in the U.S.), but the fact that both he and his father had British citizenship at his birth (a fact that Obama openly admits) means that he is not a natural born U.S. citizen, regardless of his place of birth.
It’s a bit presumptuous for him to be selling tickets to “his” inauguration.
If either the Congress or the Supreme Court upholds their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, then Obama will be found ineligible and will not be inaugurated.
The Supreme Court has denied applications for stays in each of four cases on their docket, but the Court has not denied Certiorari in any of them. Berg’s case has been distributed for conference on both January 9th and 16th.
No wonder Obama wants your money by January 8th!

Not when you look at the statistical dat gathered from voter interviews. The average Obama voter was far less informed on positions and policies than non-Obama voters.

Given the situation the fact he only one by 7 million votes is the biggest surprise.

According to this article on the web they are worth no more than face value due to the fact that no serious coin collector would want a coin that’s been defaced. As a former broadcaster, it strikes me as odd that there are more restrictions on contests to give away a 6-pack of CD’s, movie and/or concert tickets or a trip concerning “considerations” a.k.a. “pay to play” than this little “contest” to see our next president elected. Add to that the strings that were attached to getting into Invesco Field for “The Speech” and this presidency starts to feel like it’s sponsored by QVC.

They were discussing Israel/Palestine and at some point Zb told Joe that his knowledge of the issue was so superficial as to be embarassing to listen to. Joe was a little taken aback and Mika (Joe’s co-host, oh and the daughter of Zb) looked like she wanted to die. It was all sorts of funny.
