Team Obama: Still grubbing

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 30, 2008 05:29 PM

The latest mass e-mail from the Obama perpetual fund-raising machine. It doesn’t end.

Your ticket to history

michelle –

Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States of America on January 20th, 2009.

It will be an unprecedented event in the history of our country, and hundreds of thousands of people will come together in Washington, D.C. to share the moment.

Supporters like you made this happen. You know that real change comes from the bottom up, not from the top down, and Barack and Joe want you to join them on this historic day. They want to start off this administration with the people who worked so hard and will continue to fight for change with them.

Between now and January 8th, 10 supporters and their guests will be selected to join the Inaugural activities.

If you make a donation — in any amount — to make the Inauguration a success, you and a guest could be flown to Washington, D.C., put up in a hotel, and be there as Barack is sworn in as the 44th President.

Make a donation of $5 or more right now. You and a guest could receive your ticket to history.

Unlike past inaugurations, this year’s event will not be paid for by Washington lobbyists or corporations.

This campaign was funded by 4 million ordinary people giving only what they could afford, and Barack and Joe are counting on you again. Help start this administration off right — independent of the special interest donors who have shaped Washington for too long.

This Inauguration will be open to as many Americans as possible. We’ll all come together to celebrate the hope and optimism that define this movement for change.

But you could be one of 10 selected to join us in Washington for all Inaugural events. Any donation you make between now and January 8th counts — whatever you can afford.

Show your support for a different kind of politics and a different kind of inauguration with a donation of $5 or more today:

https://donate.pic2009.org/tickettohistory

The Inauguration will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. I hope you can join us.

Thank you,

David

David Plouffe
Campaign Manager
Obama for America

P.S. — If you cannot make a donation, you and a guest could still be selected to receive your ticket to history. Learn more here.

You brought up something I’ve been wondering about… The set of “Obama Coins” are nothing more than actual currency being imprinted with images of Obama. The coins are a Washington Dollar, a Kennedy Half Dollar, an Illinois Quarter and a Hawaii Quarter.

The last time I checked, there is a law against defacing U.S. currency. US Code Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 17, Section 331 spells it out rather clearly.

“Whoever fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs,
diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at
the mints of the United States, or any foreign coins which are by law
made current or are in actual use or circulation as money within the
    United States; or
Whoever fraudulently possesses, passes, utters, publishes, or sells,
or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or brings into the United
States, any such coin, knowing the same to be altered, defaced,
mutilated, impaired, diminished, falsified, scaled, or lightened–
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.”

Am I missing something or does it all go back to the fact that Obama is “The One”?

Obama may or may not have been born in Hawaii, which would make him a “native” born citizen (born in the U.S.), but the fact that both he and his father had British citizenship at his birth (a fact that Obama openly admits) means that he is not a natural born U.S. citizen, regardless of his place of birth.

It’s a bit presumptuous for him to be selling tickets to “his” inauguration.

If either the Congress or the Supreme Court upholds their oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, then Obama will be found ineligible and will not be inaugurated.

The Supreme Court has denied applications for stays in each of four cases on their docket, but the Court has not denied Certiorari in any of them. Berg’s case has been distributed for conference on both January 9th and 16th.

No wonder Obama wants your money by January 8th!

Lgm, Politico reported that Team Obama is driving your buddies crazy:

The continuing solicitations have prompted some Democratic Internet strategists — as well some list subscribers – to urge an end to them, or to question Team Obama’s online tact.

“Dear Mr. President-elect, please take me off your spam list,” Slate senior editor Dahlia Lithwick wrote in a cheeky open letter to Obama, his wife Michelle, Plouffe and other allies who’ve signed fundraising e-mails.

Continuing to receive such e-mails after Obama’s campaign brought in a record-shattering $770 million — most of which came through the list and other online avenues — and won the election is “galling,” Lithwick wrote, comparing it to “being asked to keep planting the victory garden, years after Armistice Day.”

Mimi Swartz, a journalist and Obama supporter, in a blog post titled “Yes, We Spam!” compared Plouffe’s continued appearances in her inbox to “a boyfriend I broke up with who keeps trying to be friends. He keeps writing. And writing.”

Plus, it’s “culturally tone deaf” to keep up the fundraising flurry while people are coping with “foreclosure, job loss and no medical insurance,” suggested Stephanie Salter in a column in the Terre Haute, Ind., Tribune-Star. …

Lgm, always engaging with both feet in his mouth.

Their $5 donations did put him over the top (albeit, along with huge $$ donated from corps., etc..and he’ll answer to them come re-election time) They truly think he’ll somehow relate to them and their common problems. No one can make them believe he truly doesn’t share any common background with them – and what’s more, really doesn’t want to. His roots are found in white America and black Africa. He’s divorced from white America – so anything he can do for Africa will be on the front burner. After all, he is a citizen of the world.

That ignorance is a combination of a concerted media propoganda campaign, rampant voter fraud, millions in illegal contributions, and the total inneptitude of Obama’s opponent and his party.

Surely you are aware of how our electoral system works, no?

But if you DO wanna talk popular vote, after Bush won in 2004 by ohhh…what? 2.5 percent, all we heard from the talking heads on the right (and Bush) was “mandate” “mandate” “mandate”. But when Obama wins by over twice that amount (about 7% actually) it’s a freaking squeaker. But whatever. Call it what you want, if it makes you feel better.

Grow up and be glad for your partie’s sake that the people out there that were stupid enough to vote for Barak Hussein Obama (as the Zogby polls show) are also stupid enough believe the lies you all are spreading that it wasn’t the Democrats that destroyed the financial system.

I am sure all of you defenders of capitalism believe in the idea that you can’t (or at least shouldn’t) get something for nothing. Please think what you want about Obama voters, but do not cite that insipidly stupid push poll Zogby ran, which by the way, had no correlative poll for McCain voters and therefore would be literally incapable of drawing any comparative analysis from.

Yep, for $19.95 + shipping you can buy what…. $2.25 worth of colorized coins. According to this article on the web they are worth no more than face value due to the fact that no serious coin collector would want a coin that’s been defaced. It says further that some folks are buying 300-500 sets as an investment. Maybe they can use them to buy cokes and peanuts when the rest of their money goes to taxes.

Hmmm…okay. I’ll give it a shot. I would say there really needs to be a push not just for bilateral talks, but also to bring Egypt, Lebanon and Syria into the fold, because after all they have just as much stake in the awesomeness of Obama’s glistening bod- Oh. Crap.

Well, let me try Putin in Georgia. While the popular mantra is that this is a power play on the US’s global dominance, I really think that the Georgian invasion had its roots more in the internal political dynamic in Russia oh my god do Republicans suck at everythi-. DAMN IT!!!! Did it again!

Maybe I just need to start off with a softball question like Britney. She has become, in many ways, our generation’s Karen Carpenter immensely talented but tragically flawed. One can only hope that she will be able to use Barack’s cut pecs to finally destroy the Republicans once and for all.

No. It was a reference to Joe Scarborough, who had Zbigniew Brzezinski on the show yesterday. They were discussing Israel/Palestine and at some point Zb told Joe that his knowledge of the issue was so superficial as to be embarassing to listen to. Joe was a little taken aback and Mika (Joe’s co-host, oh and the daughter of Zb) looked like she wanted to die. It was all sorts of funny.
