One last gruesome act of BDS
A Bush-deranged bomber in Aspen, Colorado, killed himself in a botched bank robbery/mass murder attempt.
The profanity-laced suicide note is here.
Will every last global problem and economic inequity still be all Rove and “Chaney’s” fault after Jan. 20, 2009?
Via RMN:
A one-time resident of this city who had been bitter over its transformation into a playground for the rich left four gift-wrapped bombs downtown in a bank-robbery attempt, turning New Year’s Eve celebrations into a mass evacuation, police said Thursday.
The dangerous bombs were made of gasoline and cell phone parts and came with notes warning of “mass death.” The 72-year-old man suspected of placing them in two banks and in an alleyway on Wednesday shot and killed himself a short time later, police said.
The body of James Chester Blanning, who grew up in Aspen and lived in Denver since 2003, was found Thursday, police said.
Blanning walked into two Aspen banks about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and left packages wrapped in holiday paper along with notes saying the boxes contained bombs, police said. The notes threatened “mass death,” demanded $60,000 cash and included criticisms of President George W. Bush, Assistant Aspen Police Chief Bill Linn said at a news conference.
Blanning’s notes said he was targeting four banks, police said, but only two — a Wells Fargo Bank and a nearby Vectra Bank — received the packages.

Luckily, innocents weren’t harmed.
Yes, I certainly remember skiing in Aspen in the late 1970′s, it wasn’t at all a playground for the rich then.
It’s been this way for decades. This is sort of equivalent to BDS about ‘high roller’ suites and benefits in Las Vegas, or luxury yachts.
Just wait, in six months the left will be blaming Obama on Bush, Rove, and Cheney.
The thin air must be getting to people up there. There is also a story I saw earlier today about a ski instructor in Aspen being murdered by a nut job because he admitted to his Catholic faith. From what I read the armed whacko interupted a ski instructor’s meeting and was going on about religion and asked the victim if he was religious. Unfortunately he didn’t turn the gun on himself first and committed suicide by getting into a gun battle with a deputy sheriff. A very sad way to start the New Year in the Rockies.

Let me get this straight …
This nitwit thinks that it’s the fault of Pres. Bush and Karl Rove that Aspen has become a playground for the rich? This despite the fact that Aspen started down this path more than 20 years ago? Despite the fact that the majority of people who started this takeover are Hollywood “celebrity” types who for the most part a Dem voting Liberals-Socialists?
I dare say this moron now rests where he belongs. In hell. Thank God he wasn’t able to take anyone else with him.
What a tool.
Guy killed himself? Good.
I only hope it actually is the last act of BDS. Just read the kos, huffpo, or demunderground and remember there are still 19 days left.
BDS will continue for about 2 more years. IF the dems continue the majority in Congress, then it must end as they will have controlled (and will continue to control) the country. If the GOP takes back the majority they will continue to blame Bush as the incoming congress will be associated with him.
I think the drug addled minds of the flower children are finally falling apart. All that LSD and acid that they used has taken its toll.
Dogma has no truck with logic.
Guess he won’t be going to the inauguration…
What a dodo. “Bush, Rove, Chaney made me do it.”
What to do… what to do … what to do…when Bush, Chaney, Rove, etc. are no longer in office, who will we blame for weight gain after the holidays, overcharging on credit cards, farting in Church, junk mail, acne, getting a lousy horiscope, and leap year.
We can’t say “Bush/Chaney/Rove/Rice ate my homework” anymore.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
The good people of that country will not have to miss work sitting on a jury and the people of Colorado will not have to feed and clothe him. Bye bye punk.
Remember how long the current administration placed blame on Clinton’s administration? Think payback is coming starting Jan 20. No matter what happened next couple years, it will be because of Bush. The way things look right now, that may be valid.
He wanted $60,000 when he could have gotten a billion under TARP?
BTW, it’s Bush’s fault that snowboarders are on slopes best left to Alpine skiers.
This fellow grew up in Aspen in the 40s and 50s and never bothered to grab a house or even some small parcel of land?
Seems like he was the one that just plain blew it.
Sorry Wade, but the current administration went out of their way to avoid placing blame on the Clintons no matter how much they Clintons screwed up or committed treason. We only wish Bush had defended himself agaist the spurious accusations from the left.
BDS will morph into BBS(Bush Blame Syndrome) throughout 2009; Some of it will be justifiable; The question is if and when the GOP will begin to separate themselves from his mistakes and start offering viable alternatives to his failed policies and the already doomed to fail policies of PEBO; They will continue to get their clocks cleaned if they don’t.
Had he not killed himself he could have applied for a professor gig at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
Proud Obama/Biden voter.
Liberals love BDSers like this guy and Jan 2th their King becomes our Pres.
Jan20th
It will not be the last. There will be more in the next 4 years.
“One last gruesome act…” is wishful thinking. Unfortunately, there are still over two shopping weeks until The One is sworn in. That’s plenty of time for the kooks to continue to lay blame at Pres. Bush’s feet.
Stay tuned for more “ridiculosity.”
Well, actually, the reason why he was living in Denver since 2003, was because he was on probation after serving time on a 16 year prison term for some kind of illegal land grab he had tried to pull off in the Aspen area.
The local media is being very cagey about this guy. I watched a report on Fox31 which basically tried to paint him as this quaint eccentric who was done wrong, but was really a sweet little hippie from the good old days. Nothing was mentioned of the suicide note and it’s contents.
I’m so sick of the media’s never ending whitewashing of facts, and their lame political spin.
Anyway, not to worry… Aspen had their fireworks last night, and a good time was had by all the hoity toity.
Sounds as if a little more chlorine just got added to the gene pool.
Welocme back, 30. We’ve missed you.
“Will every last global problem and economic inequity still be all Rove and “Chaney’s” fault after Jan. 20, 2009?”
No. The new ones will belong to the new administration. Eventually, the new administration will assume responsibility for existing issues. Congress and past Presidents may have been the cause, but the person at the top always gets the blame. That’s just the way it is.
I still have not seen anyone in the media say what he truly was: A domestic left wing terrorist.
I have a couple of uncles, bitter, aging hippies, who still rail on about Nixon at the drop of a hat.
If you think that 01/20/09 means the end of BDS you’re kidding yourself.
zyzzyg – You also seem to believe that suddenly the MSM will start reporting the way things are rather than they way they want them to be. The MSM will blame the Evil Bushie and Rove and Cheney…
Given their blind support and leg tingles for the annoited One they have every reason to try and prop him up no matter what he does so that it doesn’t reflect badly on them.
I bet you never had to face the draft. I still get nightmares in which Nixon is drafting me again. However I reserve the blame for Viet Nam on Lyndon Johnson, the most corrupt President we have ever had.
Lock them in the closet James-it is all you can do.
Awesome.
They didn’t have to draft me, I enlisted in the Navy a month after I graduated high school.
But assuming for the sake of argument that I did have to worry about being drafted, I’m pretty sure that thirty-five freaking years later I’d let it go.
Back when I was in collage, one year my draft lottery number was six. My reaction was to enlist in the Air Force. The “end” of the war was announced while I was on my way to boot camp. I look back upon this with a great deal of amusement.
BTW, I sent six years in the Air Force, going from enlisted to officer.
Are you sure, since obviously you are not letting go now, since you are calling your uncles bitter hippies.
Beat me to it.
That’s an almost-impressive attempt to be clever.
But they self-identify as hippies, and anyone who spent 10 minutes listening to them would conclude that they were bitter. How, exactly, is that me not letting it go?

He seems like the kind of guy who would’ve been copacetic with Bill Ayers.
Seriously, may God have mercy on his soul. Anyone who would do such a thing has problems that go way beyond anything any American President could possibly have caused or done anything to solve.
So this bozo did it because he doesnt like the way Aspen is. Hmmm this Bush’s fault, odd since Aspen is pretty much full of Libtards and is not way shape or form a Bush stronghold.
So much for hope ‘n change.
I want some of what this dude was smoking! There was no time in this goon’s lifetime that Aspen wasn’t a holiday resort for the rich and famous.
Another BDS sufferer bites the dust.
