See-Dubya’s New Year’s Resolutions
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here’s my resolutions:
1. I will find a church that is doctrinally sound and where I feel the Spirit dwells and works.
2. I will stop referring to the President-Elect as “Senator Don No-Soul Simmons“.
3. I will continue to tell military people I meet that I’m grateful for their service. I know Vietnam vets who came home to obscurity and ignominy. I’m not going to let that happen to today’s soldiers, at least the ones I meet. I just sent off a care package to my friend ‘Old Shootin’ Buddy’, deployed overseas in the Middle East–but I’l lbe sending more.
4.. I will support conservative think-tanks and conservative intellectuals. I can’t be George Soros but I can help out and keep some of them in the black, and right now I need to.
My own personal favorite is the Claremont Institute, which is a think-tank devoted to political philosophy and especially to the vision of the Founding Fathers. That might sound a little vague or finky, but I’ve been there and visited with them and these guys are the real thing. If you have a conservative family member with intellectual pretensions, or actual intellectual interests, you can order them a copy of The Claremont Review of Books, the Right’s best rejoinder to the New York Times Book Review. Good reading.
Full disclosure: the Claremont Institute once granted me a minor fellowship and I am grateful to them. Still, if you like what you read here at michellemalkin.com, remember that the Claremonsters are simpatico and worth your time, attention, and (tax-deductible) donations.
5. I will support bloggers who I like by leaving encouraging comments and hitting their tip jars.
Every blogger likes to get a little praise now and then. If you write something that you learn has influenced or affected someone, I don’t care how jaded you are, that makes it all worthwhile. And money? For something you wrote? I guarantee you most bloggers, especially the smaller ones, will remember that sort of validation until they die.

Happy new year.
I would like to be more courageous in accepting the opportunities that will present themselves during a time of social upheaval and unrest.
I would like to be an encouragement to those who have lost their way.
I would like to teach others how to obtain the safety and peace they hunger for.
I would like to talk less and listen more.
I would like to laugh more but be man enough to cry when crying is called for.
I would like to show people how to sleep peacefully.
I would like to live a life that is real and not a fantasy that has been created by Hollywood or politics.
I would like to be strong enough to be gentle.
My one and only resolution is to do whatever I can to forward Conservatism and donations that go towards that goal. There will be no money from me to organizations that promote mediocrity in the Republican Party and that includes the RNC, RNSC, RNCC or any of the OLD DISABLED groups who ignore at their peril the will of we the Conservatives of the United States of America!
OBTW HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!! I see 2009 and 2010 as good years to come because the Democrats are fools who have complete control which will remind the good folk of the United States of the fools they are and why they ended their extended control of the country in 94!
I believe the good folks just FORGOT how damn stupid and nasty and corrupt they were because the idiot Republicans became Democrat lite BUT a fire is lit in the Conservative base and WE will see our fortunes rise again!
I really don’t make resolutions, but I will attempt to write (smail mail and email) my elected officials rather frequently.
I am also planning on reducing my debt.

As I am going to be 62 this year and live in the Phoenix area this I pledge:
During Rush Hour on I-60 I will drive 35 miles an hour in the center lane. I will still get where I am going and will meet lots of nice folks as they pass, honk their horns and wave!

We are not seeing the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning. It’s called “creative destruction”. So let the stupid government become inextricably linked with all things irrelevant: the automakers, the newspapers, and, within a generation or so, the dollar. They will all crash together. And good riddance.
The former USSR bungled their chance at metamorphosis by allowing a thug to grab the reins of power after the crash. We have elected our thug before the crash, and if the good people of this great nation become organized well enough, and soon enough, we may be able to manage the transition with much less pain than they have had in Russia.
Personality cults rely on control of information, and try as they may, here in the US the genie will never go back into the bottle. Therefore, the O’Boingo adoration fad is paper-thin, and can and will evaporate with astonishing speed. Starry-eyed, adolescent leftism will, before long, be replaced with a blunt pragmatism that will cause as much soul-searching on the right as it does the left.
We are on the cusp of something big, and we can choose either to seize the opportunity to advance the people of this nation, or we can descend into chaos. At the moment, I can’t see clearly which it will be, but I pray it’s the former.
How’s that for a New Year’s prognostication? It’s not a resolution, but I gave up on those once I grew up enough to learn to substitute action in the place of talk (ie. last week).

As for New Year’s resolutions, I take the Peter Mayle approach: I don’t make them. Hell, I’ve never been good at keeping them anyway.
Mr. Mayle does observe three *traditions*, however. They are:
1) trying on last year’s trousers. If they’re a bit snug, a little more exercise and a little less food helps them fit better.
2) not celebrating New Year’s eve. A glass of champagne before retiring does the trick here. So, while the rest of the world feels miserable the next day, at least he wakes up feeling fine.
3) not drinking before breakfast. If you can’t handle *this* one, well, what is there to say besides you need some help.

Good to hear from you, See-Dubya! Here’s my most important resolutions.
I resolve to give every bit of the benefit of the doubt to the new messiah as the liberals gave to W.
I resolve to continue working on educating my 5 children and my unfortunately liberal siblings (about 7 of the 11 still living) about the lies and innuendo that the left used to regain power.
I resolve to educate my children of the evils of a man who would argue that babies who survive abortion can be left untreated to die what must be an agonizing death.
And, like you, See-Dubya, I resolve to send money to the most successful conservative organizations every year, not just every 4 years.
Don’t forget to leave your left turn signal blinking! That is required after the age of 60.

I made a NY resolution some 20 years ago and it has not failed me yet – no more NY resolutions.
Seriously (sure), I resolve every day to help someone less fortunate than me. Right now it is my father-in-law, my preggo daughter and as many people as I can touch in Haiti while I am there.

No, not “back”, still retired. Or “emeritus”. I get the urge every day to start up again but I still get mixed signals from my new job about how they would react to blogging…so I might pop up now and then as long as Michelle doesn’t mind.
“Emeritus” sounds so much better than “retired”.
I found mine after many years of searching. (Hint: Think Glenn Beck, Gladys Knight, and Mitt Romney.)

A church that does not honor the Sabbath is not “doctrinally sound”. The Sabbath is the 7th day not the first. The RCC changed the “day of the Lord” to the first day. There is NO biblical evidence for worship on the first day. Good luck in your search.
