I asked what the wives get and apparantly they get not not be envyous while thier husband enjoys the 72 virgins.
Warn the people they have 24 hours to get out of area. Explain that failure to leave will result in those remaining in the area being considered Hamas members and sympathizers and subject to any and all actions taken against Hamas.
Then carpet bomb the whole area for about 5 days non-stop.
Pile up the martyrs at the same rate that Obama throws people under the bus …

The problem with warning them to leave is this: Isreal learned early on that gun control means hitting your target. The public there is heavily armed and will fight for their country. All they did by dropping leaflets is to tell them to get the ammo ready.
Virgins are going to be in great demand for Hamas in 2009. Could be a banner year.
They may just get the ammo ready but then there is no doubt that they are a combatant. Those you shoot without question. That is unless you are a U.S. Marine or soldier. Then they will have to shoot at you before you return fire. That way the POS Jack Murtha doesn’t accuse you of “murdering in cold blood”. Don’t know about any of you all but I don’t want to count on the other guy being a poor shot so I can shoot him/her.

It is very depressing to hear all the talk about how much suffering the murderous, lawless savages are experiencing at the hand of Israel.
I do not like violence, but just like violent criminals in the US, there are severe consequences to ones actions.
And yet the nut cases here in Hawaii are already starting to decry Israel’s apparent disproportionate response to the Hamas madness. From today’s Honolulu Advertiser, a letter titled Why Does Israel Still Receive U.S. Aid?
I mentioned on another thread how there have been demonstrations here in Minneapolis for Israel to stop bombing Gaza. Do we ever hear anyone say Hamas should stop bombing Israel? Which came first, the bombs being lobbed into Israel (for years), or Israel finally deciding to defend themselves? Every time I hear someone say something against Israel, I want to slap them silly. One of these days, I will do just that! And it will feel so good.
I think what bothers me most about this whole situation is the term ‘proportionate response’ and the stupidity in rational in relation to it.
The law in the US favors criminals as opposed to law enforcement when it comes to proportionate response.
We have a force continuum based on ‘the minimum force necessary to acheive compliance’. The force levels increase from one to six as follows.
One is Officer Pressence (and yes, we have had that challenged in court as use of excessive force based solely on the number of officers present, go figure). Two is use of verbal commands. Three is open handed control (leverage, pressure points, etc..) Four is closed handed control (punches, elbows, knees, etc.. ) Five is the use of non-deadly weapons (batons, pepper spray, etc..). Six is the use of deadly force (shooting).
A situation can go from one to six, or six to one, or any combination depending on the compliance of the individual. Once an individial complies, force can no longer be used.
As Hamas refuses to comply and continues to use deadly force, the IDF is forced to respond with deadly force. Even our own criminal friendly laws in the US support such a response. What is it that others cannot see here?
Next, when is deadly force appropriate?
Hamas should thank Allah that there are actually tolerant Jews in charge of the IDF. I surmise that there are some within the Israeli government that would take more drastic measures to protect their people than is being undertaken today.
For instance? During this incursion by the IDF, should any IED or anti-tank device be set off, the IAF should take out the neighborhood within a one block radius. How many neighborhoods do you suppose would be destroyed before the booby traps stopped going off? Remember, the Palestinians do not consider civilians non-combatants.
It is the adherents to the Islamic faith that seek martyrdom, and those that do not, are apostate, and as such, are traitors to Islam. Their own people will kill them…in the name of Allah, and his messenger of death, Muhammad.
I would guess that most who use the term “disproportionate response” in regards to Israel defending itself, have never been a long term victim.
Views can change very quickly when you are on the receiving end of constant, unwarranted abuse, such as the terrorism being committed by Hamas. Another way to relate to the situation is to talk to someone who has been a victim of long term spousal abuse. No response is disproportionate if the abuser will not stop the abuse.
Essentially…whatever it takes to make the abuse stop!
To those atempting to define Israel’s “proper response” I would remind you of this:
“If men make war in slavish obedience to rules, they will fail.”

When is ‘deadly force’ appropriate?
For an officer to use deadly force, he/she must have a non-compliant individual (yes, by law they have to identify themselves as law enforement and order the person to stop) that forces the following three conditions.
Jeopardy, a non-compliant person creates a situation of peril or danger.
Capability, the person must have the capability to cause death, or serious injury to others (gun, knife, bomb, ballbat, etc.. )
Intent, the person must indicate true intent to cause death, or serious injury to others.
Of these three, capability is probably the most difficult, followed by intent.
A person swinging a ballbat at your head indicates capability and intent, whereas as person swinging a ballbat at you legs indicates capability, but no intent. A person with a knife 20 feet away threatening to stab you, indicates intent, but does not have the capability from 20 feet away.
Now, here is the tricky part. A person with a knife, 20 feet away, indicates an intent to throw the knife at you, or someone else, is only capable for the brief period of time between cocking the knife back and moment the knife leaves the fingertips. Use deadly force any moment before, or after, and you are culpable, even if the knife ends up buried in your chest.
I note this as Hamas is non-compliant, has placed the entire country of Israel in Jeopardy, has capability and well established Intent. They are not only a cocked knife, they are a loaded gun aimed at the heart of Israel.
No amount of force should be considered ‘disappropriate’ while Hamas remains non-compliant.

Bizarre. Most residents of Gaza have been trapped there since they were driven from their homes in the 1948 war. They have no place to evacuate to.

As I said earlier, I am soooo sick of those who condemn Israel. Those condemning Israel have no valid or logical reasoning for their condemnation.
Laughable - that’s the only word to describe the idea that Israel can “eliminate” Hamas. Even the Israeli leadership seems to buy into this delusion and expect that Gazans will blame their own, rather than Israel, for all the death and destruction. Just like folks in the West Bank blame Fatah every time a missile falls on the territory. Just like the people of Lebanon blame Hezbollah for the devastation of that conflict.

If I had a neighbor who was jealous because I worked harder to make my property a nice place to live, and said neighbor constantly pelted rocks at my windows and family because he wanted what I had and I refused to “hand it over”, then I would eventually be forced to take action if said neighbor would not listen to reason.

I am a social democrat, firmly on the left in terms of fiscal policy and absolutely liberal on almost all social issues (I support rights for gay people, and am appalled that in this world they are forced to have to make their case for equal rights; I support abortion on demand for women). I am a stalwart atheist.
Yet I am drifting more and more towards neo-conservative (I shudder at the word, even!) thinking. The bad guys ARE Hamas (who make themselves targets and then plant their bases in densely populated areas so that innocent people are harmed when the retribution comes), Islamic extremism is a real threat and exists independently of American and Western influence in the Middle East and around the world. We have to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Israel has a duty to protect it’s citizens. All this leaves me wondering how the left can be so brilliantly right on the social and fiscal issues and yet so catastrophically wrong on foreign policy.

With today’s smart bomb technology (average miss is Approx. 10 ft) it is not necessary to evacuate the entire Gaza strip to be safe. lgm is wrong again, as usual.
I seriously recommend Condi Rice take a few weeks of vacation in the areas targeted by Hamas after Jan. 20th – what with her no longer having a security detail things should get very interesting very quickly. Economic equality for the people means the government determining the amount of wealth a person can have. This is socialism and it has proven a disaster everywhere it has been tried. Conservatives don’t hate gay people. I don’t know where Omu got that one from.
What Conservatives want is to not have a group gain special status over everyone else. It’s called equality.
Neither Rush Limbaugh nor Ann Coulter are bigots. Now, real bigots accuse Ann and Rush of being bigots but that’s only because they project their own behaviors on others.
“Gay marriage” isn’t about “equal rights”. It’s about one group wanting special priviliges over and above everyone else – in this case changing the definition of marriage to fit whatever they want it to.
The Conservative view of abortion (at least my view) isn’t about what a woman can and can’t do with her body. It’s about not having the US Supreme Court creating law. Check your Constitution.
If you’re confused it’s because you get information about Conservatives from the liberal handbook rather than from the Conservatives themselves.

As Israel’s premier covert and information gathering operations unit I think it’s extremely important for their talents to be utilized.
Democrats opposed the 13th Amendment which as most here now that this amendment freed the slaves. They also opposed the 14th Amendment(citizenship to freed slaves) and the 15th Amendment which in essence gave blacks the right to vote. Democrats also founded the KKK. I truly wonder when they turned the corner and became so “brilliantly right on the social and fiscal issues…”. Hmmmm.

I am selfish and greedy? I gave more to charity this year than Biden has in the last three and I do not make anywhere near as much money as he does. In percentage of income, I gave twice what Obama did. In Al Gore’s last year as VP he gave a little over 300 dollars to charity. The man is a millionaire. Christian charity feeds and clothes 80% of the homeless in this nation. The Southern bible belt is responsible for greatest percentage of the chartible contributions of this entire nation.

Fox is reporting the Security Council is meeting in the UN. Par for the course, mutual condemnation for Israel but failed to even mention Hamas by name and it’s little problem of lobbing bombs. Please let me live to see the day we pull out of that dysfunctional organization and let them flounder, pound sand, or revert back to the neanderthal age from which they came.. Now is a perfect time with the world in a state of financial instability.

Proportionate response only serves to invite a retaliatory action, rather than to force the other side to stop whatever brought the proportionate response.
Massive, overwhelming firepower from a combined arms force – artillery, close air support (CAS), and infantry, along with required support troops is the only way to stop an enemy, especially an irregular force, such as Hamas/Hezbollah/AlQ/(insert your radical/terrorist organization here).
Normally, I would say kill them. Kill them all. But in this case, any suceeding generations must be made to realize that there is no future in terrorism. On that basis, we cannot just kill them. We must kill them and do as they have done to our troops (e.g. Somalia) and humiliate and desecrate their mutilated corpses for all to see. Especially them.
Does it “lower us to their level?” Does it make us less humane? Does it mean that we have no compassion, no moral values? I submit that it means nothing of the sort. War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest. Ask those people who lost their wars in sub-Saharan Africa. Right now, the forces of evil do it because they know the revulsion it strikes into the populace to see American soldiers tortured, at no risk to themselves, other than wearing womens’ panties on their heads (which some people, liberals included, pay money for.) So they act with impunity, knowing we will not hurt them if we catch them. The answer? Don’t catch them, don’t hold them captive.
No quarter asked, no quarter given. It is their way, and for us to do less shows us (in their eyes) to be weaker and less devoted to our cause.
Let no man or woman underestimate our resolve, in spite of the wails of liberals and the protests on the streets of the United States. This nation, and those nations that are among our friends, will be defended with all we have. They do not want to wake the sleeping giant. Even a pointy headed liberal should know that if attacked, we will fight. If the homeland is attacked, the fight will be for our lives, and all the rules will change.
I hope BHO has the testicular fortitude to act, and man up to the realities of the world. We remain the shining beacon. He needs to maintain it for however long he is allowed to serve.

Boo Freakin’ Hoo for the “palestinians.” If the “arab street” wants to show their compassion to the “palestinians”, they should immediately organize airlifts to rescue those people, relocate them to other areas and pay their expenses for a reasonable time. Just as they have suggested the Israelis do, although Israel was created by UN Charter; there is no UN created “Palestine.”
Of course, a large percentage of the “palestinians” have never worked a job, other than terrorizing non-islamic peoples, and studying how to do it. Ultimate welfare whores, courtesy of the UN and client Arab states.
The reality is that the “arab street” does not give two squishy, squirty poops about the “palestinians”, except to use them to iritate people and foment trouble in the middle east and elsewhere, while keeping their hands relatively clean.
GO TEAM ISRAEL. You have been far too tolerant for far too long. If the whole world is arrayed against you, you might as well give them a real reason instead of the current reason, which is simply that you exist.

Thank God this monkey has been sent to meet his 72 virgins. Hamas are evil garbage, they must be eliminated. Then, if the rest of the ‘Palestinians’ really want peace then they can give up their dream of destroying Israel, if not, they will never have peace.
Israel must destroy as much of Hamas as possible before the MSM and the idiots and ignorants whine loud enough for them to stop. They must only quit when they are ready.
For EVERY missile shot into Israel at least ONE missile should be returned to the area as close as possible to the shooter. Tit for tat. Every single missile should be returned. Period. Treat them like adults, if they kill, they will be killed. If they send missiles, they will receive them. That is the only way they will learn.
