Richardson: “Disappointed” and “hurt” by turn of events, but the real issue is people are losing their houses!

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 5, 2009 01:10 PM

While the Grover Norquist/RNC debate kicks off, Bill Richardson is expected to talk about his sudden withdrawal from the Commerce Secretary post any minute.

All of a sudden, the Hispanic activists who jeered that Richardson’s nomination was an unacceptable consolation prize are demanding that another Hispanic be appointed to the post.

Here we go:

Bill Richardson is “disappointed” in the turn of the events. Has “faith” in the process. Excited about returning to work on the state budget. Refuses to talk about the probe or his conversations with Obama.

Richardson says he “underestimated how long the criminal investigation would take.”

Question: Did the transition team pressure you to withdraw or did you?

Richardson unconvincingly says that he made the decision.

“Yesterday, I was hurting. I lost a Cabinet appointment. But I think people have to focus on what people are losing in this country. They’re losing their savings and their homes.”

DLTDHYOTWO, Bill.

What’s puzzling to me is that Richardson steps aside, while Hillary, whose entire “career” has her up to her neck in scandal, chugs merrily along to assume her post as OUR SoS…

Not to mention the fact that Richardson, as a Congressman, Gov., UN Ambassador, and Sec. of Energy, has INFINITELY more qualifications for a Cabinet-level position. I am not in favor of any of those who slosh around in the mud of scandal receiving “rewards” in terms of political appointments, but it begs the question, Why is Hillary still being considered for SoS? (Is it perhaps to keep her quiet about something…?)

Bill Richardson is “disappointed” in the turn of the events (I got caught). Has “faith” in the process (because Democrats will investigate and find no fault). Excited about returning to work on the state budget (to appear like he’s doing real work while the hubub blows over). Refuses to talk about the probe or his conversations with Obama (because he got his a$$ chewed out for being so sloppy in his corruption).

    Two reasons:

    1) A grand jury that probably takes its work seriously.
    2) Both Clintons never remember anything that was said in any prior conversation that could be troublesome. “I don’t recall” is the perfect innoculation to any perjury charge.

Bill, did you lose it or did you give it up? Be consistent and stick to the story, man!

No wonder he got caught in his dealings..tsk, tsk. If you’re gonna be corrupt, Obama will give you a pass as long as you’re good at it and always appear above board. This guy’s definitely not up to the challenge.

    Edit- checked Wiki

Richardson’s mother was from Mexico City, and was sent to California for the specific purpose of having Richardson be born in the United States.

He is a Yankee, Middlesex School in Massachusetts for Prep school followed by college at Tufts in Boston.

Richardson had no ties to New Mexico, but moved there in 1978 for the express purpose of trying to win a seat in the House of Representatives.

He claimed all his life he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals as a pitcher, but an investigation by an Albuquerque newspaper revealed he pulled that one out of his butt.

That’s the only thing that makes sense here…Hill must have some juicy dirt that she is holding on to…b/c she is definitely not qualified nor worthy to be our SoS. And Obama has no reason to be beholden to her, after all, she was the one who was trying to shakedown his supporters for campaign cash when she lost the race. If anything, she owes him something…unless of course, there is a damaging tape, as you mentioned.

His mother was Mexican, but in the Democratic Party in New Mexico being “Hispanic” is almost as good as being a Lesbian Comanche poet.

That Richardson tends to shift the conversation is exactly what he did all during the primaries. Just when a topic got heated and interesting, you could count on el buen amigo Guillermo to shift the conversation to some dronish, sleep- inducing “we all need to pull together” cumbaya blather.
